  1. It was Demo Day at the club today so spent an hour testing drivers from the big four. Nothing was earth shattering compared to my G400 until I hit the Titleist tent. It was magic. Gained close to 20 yards. Wish I could have taken it on the course. TSI 1 10 degrees with an Aldila TSI Ascent 40 shaft in Stiff flex. Bombs away! So now that I was warmed up I decided to play 18. Well I was already there right! On the first hole, driver 8 iron and made a 25 foot putt. I knew it was the start of a good round. Played very well today tied my personal best with a round of 68. 2 birds and 1 bogey on the front. 2 birds on the back. 12 fairways 15 greens 30 putts

Well, my somewhat lack of activity on here is due to working on my undergrad degree. Trying to be a chaplain in one of the armed forces. The normal cutoff age is 42, but I was told that they are allowing much older people to sign up. As it stands, I’ll be 42 on the dot when I meet all requirements... but now it seems I have a little wiggle room. Which makes it a lot less stressful.

    How'd you play?

My wife's two remaining brothers, one from Seattle and one from Phoenix are here this weekend, and we played this morning. A cool 55º with a breeze 10-15 mph. My arms and right shoulder were quite sore from pruning two evergreen trees (yes, I was on a ladder!!) Not very many good drives all day, but I believe it was my best scrambling day ever. I had 9 up and downs (everyone likes a good up and down ); 4 for pars, 3 for bogeys, and 2 for my two doubles I had on the front nine. I had 10 one-putts; one of those being for birdie on the par 4 #16. I also had a no-putt sandy birdie on the par 5 #18. Both of those birdies were on holes that I hadn't birdied yet this year. Yay! I shot a +7 44 on the front nine and an EVEN par 35 on the back nine for a 79. I only hit 6 GIR and had 24 putts; my lowest number of putts ever on an 18-hole course. My wife between her two brothers and me in the yellow Chicken Hawk Classic hat on #18 after I made my sandy birdie.

    How'd you play?

Played the back nine, and got a bit of a later tee time than usual (called later than usual to reserve). Pitched in for a birdie on par three 13th from about 35' after a short tee shot. On 17 I hit the best 4wood I may have ever hit, and made the green (usually short on this hole, and have only parred it a couple of times before), then sank the 30 footer for a birdie ! 18 is a 558 yard par 5 on which I am notoriously short, good drive and flushed another couple of 4 woods to get just short and right of the green; chipped to 5' and made the put for a very satisfying par (as it's most often a bogie or double). Will take quite a bit to wipe this grin off my face...

Went out as a single early-early today and played worst ball of two. I’ve never done this before but for some reason, an Instagram story kept reminding me that Rory plays this and tries to break par…I did not break par Shot an 81, it was fun and different…and I beat the rain. So all in all, it was a good day.

I have no idea if this is the right place or not. If not mods feel free to move, delete, or whatever. I would like to apologize to the forum. Yesterday I let my frustrations take control of me and hit send on a post I absolutely regret. I said something to a forum member that was completely unnecessary and beneath the conduct a forum member here. It will never happen again. I will be better because I am better than this. I have reached out privately to the member as well and hope that we can put my stupidity behind us and help to make this place what it is, The BEST forum on the internet and my second family! It's tough. Sorry to hear about your loss too. The hard part for me is that I'm an "only" so no siblings to talk with. Most of my dad's friends have already passed. There will be no service; just my wife and I putting his ashes on my grandmother's grave where we put my mom's ashes in 2017, and they can finally be together again.

I did a stupid thing today (maybe 2). Been waiting for a few weeks for 5 tons of pea gravel to be delivered. Well it showed up today. After shoveling, moving, dumping, and raking out three of the five tons I was toast. Then I sit down to rest some and realize it is DEMO DAY tomorrow. Crap, I now get the kids and head out to the store to get Mothers Day presents. Didnt want to interfere with Demo Day. I felt like an old man with a turd in his pants walking around the stores. Hopefully I can move tomorrow. There is still 2 more tons sitting in wait for me when I get home tomorrow. Then brain storm #2 hits me. " Hey dear why don't we go to the club Sunday for Mothers day brunch!" She is in complete agreement until........wait for it.... Why don't you meet me there at around 11:30 with the kids. I'll be done golfing by then. Anyone know how cold it will be tonight. I might be sleeping in the shed!

Celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary today. I’ve been thinking of how quickly it went by and while we were planning, it was so much emphasis on making it my wife’s special day. For anyone who hasn’t or is hoping to get married soon I want to say one thing. Weddings are certainly all about the spouse but don’t lose sight of the fact that this is one of the only times, maybe the only, where you’ll be surrounded by your favorite people in the world. It’s special and do whatever you can to soak it all in before your liver soaks up a bottle of champagne

    How'd you play?

Played an ok quick 9 last night after work and a horrible 9 this morning. Last night managed a +3 39. Started par, bogie, bogie and couldn’t hit a fairway or green to save my life. Refocused myself and then went par, birdie, birdie to get back to even. I followed that up with a par, bogie, double to finish. This morning’s round was miserable due to wind and cold 39* and 10mph winds make it very hard to loosen up. I managed 3 pars on the day but mixed in a plethora of bogies and doubles to finish +8 44. They can’t all be great but it sucks to end my sub 40 streak. Time to start a new one!

    How'd you play?

Had a 2 hour frost delay this morning, but once we got out put together a very tidy round! Finally had a round I knew I was capable of after a slow start to the season! 41/42: 83 (+11, net -3) 4/18 FIR 7/18 GIR (including a 6 hole streak from 11 to 15!) 34 putts (1 3-putt, 3 1-putts) Had some fantastic shots, including a 384 yd drive (see Shot of the Day thread), 280 yard and 264 yard 3 iron on two tight tricky par 4's (thank you Ben Hogan UiHi), and a number of short iron/wedges that I had great contact and distance control. Had a few stinker holes where I made bogey and shouldn't have, and made 2 doubles, but for me that's pretty darn good. Short game was solid but not perfect, which left me with a lot of putts just outside of high % make range. Putting was solid but not outstanding either, I had a lot of chances for birdie or par saves from 10-15 feet that didn't fall - but still played well enough tee to green to get a really solid score together!

Thankfully, they all do. The professors and her classmates have all offered to share projects & files, presentations, etc. so she can try and re-build some things. Of course, since it's graphic design, there's a lot of personal work that is involved as far as subjects, styles, etc. We gave the go-ahead to the lab yesterday to start work, she forwarded their invoice & work order to all her profs just to document that she's not pulling their legs, fingers crossed they can get the data to us sooner rather than later.

  24. Thanks for answering the question @BIG STU! I took all of the accessories except the phone holder off to store it and haven't had any real issues. @Motocaddy said he is expecting some of the bigger cup holders to be sent out soon. I did try and put my 20oz stainless travel mug from Starbucks into the cup holder and it barely held it. Actually, while walking with the cup in the holder, it flipped over and did exactly what you mentioned, spilled out. It is a bit tall though so most likely the standard cup holder is not designed to hold a tall travel mug. 20210501_095737.mp4 Pictures of the score card holder with the slide out tee and ball holder since nobody mentioned it yet. Motocaddy on vacation in Phoenix! well not really, working but managed to sneak in a few rounds. This is GCU golf course. Simple layout with nice flat tee boxes and some deep bunkers. Then played Longbow golf club in Mesa. Great course in great shape with excellent greens! Highly recommend!

... That is one of my favorite practice round games! I think it is great practice for better players and as you said not as challenging as you might think but it mentally takes a toll to hit it to 2 feet but then play the shot you hit to 15 feet knowing you had a birdie. Or heaven forbid you thin or fat one. I also think higher index players would do better playing the better ball of two as it helps gain confidence and build off good shots.

    How'd you play?

It is definitely all relative. When you can't break 100 you say you would be happy to score in 90s; until you do. When in the 90s you want 80s and then 70s and then 60s. It becomes even more frustrating when your scores go the other way since you still feel like you can play better.

Got out to play a course while traveling for work. Rained on us the front 9 and stopped for most of the back 9. Had a real opportunity to put a low number up, but let some putts get away from me. Very pleased with how I hit it all day and hope I can continue. Had 4 birdies and probably 8-10 really good opportunities that were 15 feet or less. Some of the best ball striking I can remember in a while. 73 6 fairways 14 greens 32 putts

Yes, that’s another great variation in the Lonesome 2 ball. I did it often years ago in evening after work if other guys weren’t around. It was nice, helped me a lot with ball striking and unwinding after a miserable day of work.

    How'd you play?

... If you really want a challenge, you do play 2 shots from every lie so in essence you are playing 2 balls. Hit 2 off the tee and play the worst one, then hit 2 balls from there and play the worst one, then 2 chips or 2 putts always playing the worst one or once you get on the green just one ball putting. Obviously there are many ways to play two balls and just playing out both balls is good too, as is playing the same as worst ball above but instead always using the better of the two shots.

  38. ... If you don't mind an unsolicited suggestion, have you tried a full swing but at 50% of your normal speed? Most of the time poor face contact comes from swinging too hard or fast. DLIII learned a great drill from his Dad where he had to hit his driver using a full swing but started at 150 yds only. Imagine how slow he had to swing to hit his driver straight but only 100! Once he hit 10 in the grid, he moved on to 150 yds and repeated with a full swing and 10 in the grid before moving to 200, then 250, 300 and finally 350. He said he always got out of sync trying to hit it 350 so 300 was his perfect tempo. Of course trying to hit it "only" 300 he would hit some further but attempting 350 he was swinging too hard. ... I think it is great that loose and fast works better for you but it won't do you much good if you are missing the center. Remember with a driver you lose 5-7yds for every 1/4" you miss the center, so your heel and high on the face hots could be costing you 28-35 yds or more as well as poor direction. As you swing at 50% and start hitting the center, just increase your swing speed s-l-o-w-l-y and if you continue to hit the center keep increasing your speed. Most are absolutely stunned at how "slow" they can swing and how far they can hit it while conversely finding out they are attempting to swing too fast. Another way to accomplish this when playing is take at least 1 or even 2 more club than normal and still take a full swing, forcing you to slow down. Again, many are surprised when they hit it even further because the club head is moving faster when their body is moving slower. ... Fwiw, this works with both fast tempo and slow tempo players. Nothing wrong with a fast and loose swing if you are hitting the center of the face but it really is amazing how many swing so much harder than necessary.

    How'd you play?

I’ve gone up 5 strokes... And as you say, it’s all relative. I’ve really devoted myself to fishing in the last 6 months and Golf became that “other thing”. My fishing skills and overall fishing knowledge has improved as much as my golf index has risen. Guys that choose to keep one or the other as their main priority can keep or improve their edge in that endeavor. keeping the index down requires one to make golf be that choice. I fish for money, but don’t golf for money, so it’s an easy choice right now. I still have 3-4 hole stretches of great play, but then I chunk or yank or yip myself into a double or triple much more often than just a few months ago. But, I don’t sweat it so much anymore, because I know I’m only playing once or twice a week instead of 5-6 times a week. but it’s still fun as chell...

It's all relative My handicap has gone up 3 points this year (6.9 - 9.9 GHIN) from those bad rounds. It's getting old. I'm working with a swing coach and I see some improvements, but it's not showing up on the cards, yet. I know many would very happy shooting under 90 -- I well remember those days. When my wife asks how my golf went, I have to be positive, because if I say something like "Oh, I shot awful with an 86", she'd say something like "I remember when you couldn't break 100!" So, yes, it's all relative
