  1. My Fitting: so going into this fitting my main expectations where to settle on a driver head and shaft as well as a fairway wood shaft. It was only a 45 minute fitting so there was no need to spend time on wedges or irons since I already knew what shafts I was going with based on my input from Ian Fraser from TXG. I absolutely love my Oban CT115x shafts and Ian said the closest “standard” shaft to these is the Nippon 105x. The tech rep didn’t even have Xstiff iron shafts so that worked out nicely. We started with the Radspeed and RDX Blue shaft. I enjoyed the old HZRDUS Yellow shaft in the past so it was no surprise this was the case with the Blue as it is the successor to the HZRDUS yellow shaft. We tried the Motore and while it felt good, I just wasn’t getting the same strike consistency that I was getting with the Blue. I asked to try the XB head, but they only had that in 10.5. He lofted it down to 9, but I just didn’t like how it set up at address. i was getting some serious bombs with the Radspeed and the Blue combo - was creeping into the 166mph+ territory with ball speed and getting about 290 yards of carry (normalized on Trackman) with some low spin bombs. Really wasn’t over hooking anything so felt really comfortable with the setup. Moved on to the Radspeed 3w and was super impressed. This thing is long. I was carrying it over 260 off the deck with the rdx blue 7X. As expected, they didn’t have any 80g x stiff 7 wood shafts but I did see the 7 wood head at address (just popped in a random shaft for a visual) so I will be going with that setup. All in all it was successful as it helped me answer the questions I needed to get my order ready. Let me know If you have any questions!

  2. I did a partial fitting today with John at Pro Golf Discount in Bellingham. I purchased my current irons there two years ago - they were an off-the-shelf purchase, not fitted, but I had hit them up against a few other sets on the GC Quad and was happy with how they performed at the time. They didn't have every shaft available, so my goal was to find something that I was comfortable with. We started off with the irons, and after getting my swing in the groove started to see some good results with the KBS Tour 90 S shafts. The irons are definitely strong-lofted - the 7-iron I was testing has 27.5° of loft. The closest direct comparison in my current set is my 6-iron, which is at 27°. Average carry with my current 6-iron is about 165 yards (7-iron is 150). For comparison, here's a quick picture I took of the GC Quad readout with the Radspeed 7-iron. If I can ease up that attack angle over the course of the challenge I should get the spin up into an ideal window. I still can't get over that 124mph ball speed number though - I did not expect that heading into the fitting!

  3. Unfortunately my cobra fitting got delayed until next Monday as Alabama weather is not cooperating early this week. Good news is next Monday, the Cobra rep is only coming back to do a private fitting with me and the guy I take lessons from instead of a open first come first serve session at one of the courses. Super excited is an understatement. The copper finish may be calling my name On the MIM irons...

  4. Well, well, well... this is already shaping up to be a very interesting challenge. 7 woods instead of hybrids, 180 yard 7 iron bombs, I can't wait to see what other delights the team will have for us....

  5. Hello friends and welcome to a Tuesday. Today we have a new version of our trading sheet, the major behind the sheet change was that I removed the attempt of auto update, because google sheets need to be coded with HTML. and that is a skill I do not possess. With that in mind there is no change for you guys, as will still update this sheet every Monday morning or Tuesday if the Monday is a holiday. As for facing values and updates, I have worked on the Points per Event portion, to use the amount of events played by a pro and the average points that fantrax is listing, so we do no have the case where a pro only played one event and it is sitting high on the list because of it. I also added the comparison tool, it is simply a way to look at a trade side by side and see the total value. To search for a player, all you have to do is to delete the current name on the box and start typing the new name, all of the 3200+ players on fantrax should be available. The tool will allow you to compare as few as 1 player or up to 8 players from each team. To make it easy, each set of players is numbered and the lines on the comparison tool reflect that. In the trades where you want to compare less players, just leave the other player name boxes empty. You can also use the empty boxes to compare where you are either giving away or receiving more players. I hope this help for the rest of the season and the the future fantasy golf seasons. The link is: MGS Golf Fantasy trade chart - Google Sheets V2 Let me know of any other Ideas you guys might have to improve this tool.

    How'd you play?

Shot a decent 78, but what was really cool was my driving range session afterwards. Yum yum so I’ve been hitting a bit of a cut lately for no apparent reason so I watched a few videos on hitting a soft draw like I used to do. so I went thru the procedure, of an exaggerated turning the wrists over , then placing a small bucket at each side of the ball, creating an in / out swing path. Then some easy swings, in to out with an exaggerated turn over. then started to hit some balls at about 50%, and slowly worked it up to say 80%. And there it was... I started hitting some of the nicest balls ever. So, I moved the rake and hit some more... can’t wait to hit tomorrow, hoping it sticks...

  7. Trust me if he had put it up on #9 he could have caught that riding cart especially if it was electric. Now around my course we have gas carts that will fly of course I am not the only member that knows how to bend a govenor rod either.

  8. I took a couple of short videos yesterday (Sunday) for your viewing pleasure. I'm getting better at maneuvering the M7 to desired locations. The first video is showing how the battery can be installed after the bag is loaded on the cart. The second video is showing off my new gained skills.

Shot a real nice 40/37 this morning which could have been lower had just a few of my putts dropped. Missed many putts by just a hair. could have been my best iron striking day in years. So much fun when you’re on top of iron play...

  10. I'd like to stick with current offerings because i know this review is to be somewhat of a reflection of what the average golfer has access to (stock products). The fitter did have the Ventus blue in his shaft matrix yesterday and kept trying to get me to try it, but I kept reminding him I could only go with no-upcharge options. Otherwise, I would have definitely taken him up on that offer

I hav been processing my last round for quite a few days now. I played extremely well, and I couldn’t put a finger on why. Well, today using some metacognition... I have learned that I need to stop practicing. I hadn’t touched a club for over a week at least, didn’t even warm up on the range. So instead of smashing range balls all the time, I’m just going to hit the course. And play whatever shot shape comes out that day. Practice... just makes me worse. Practice...

  20. What a beautiful day it was today. Was windy again and gusts are probably in the 35 range with a steady 20 mph. was not able to play 2 ball today as I was paired up with a 3some that were all retired and worked the course (they get 2 free rounds a week what a deal! On top of their pay as just being a starter). went 43/37 on the front I didn’t hit a single fairway with 2 penalties and 4 bogeys/2 doubles but ended on a beautiful bird on one of my favorite par 5s around. Any other day no wind I would have reached from there out crushed the back 9 with 2 bogeys and ended on a bird another par 5. beautful thing is both of those holes were into the wind. The front could have been really bad but I scrambled my @$$ off and it paid off (no 3 putts and I had great second shots off poor tee shots) Beginning of the round we got started a little late as I am pretty sure @Apolloshowl dog was on the loose on the first tee box. Was amusing to see the course employees trying to wrangle him down

  21. @LeftyMatt89 Thank you for going with the one-length irons. I don't think I would ever go and buy a set of them, despite being EXTREMELY curious about trying it. But in a situation like this, I would 100% try one length out. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think, what you yardage gaps are like, and if you would do it again. I am also wondering how to gap wedges with them and since the wedge selection is more limited - how Cobra staff will set you up with them. Again, thanks for choosing them and looking forward to hearing your opinions with them!!

Came from Perfect Practice Golf, who makes portable putting greens for your home and they have Dustin Johnson promoting their products.

Six months into my career and I burnt angel hair for pasta night…the night we had three companies get together from the battalion… I had boxes of pasta in my boots, my locker, pictures of angels, they even called me guardian. There’s no love like the love at the firehouse. All because I got distracted and forgot about the pasta

  29. I did a thing today........... I ordered a Titleist bag back in December from my buddy, and had used a $200 gift card from work to pay for it. So, I’ve become tired of waiting. In the meantime I just received $250 in Amazon gift cards from work, and the bag is currently available right now! Soooooo.... Since I get a great discount from my buddy, I went ahead and ordered a Sim 2 Max 9* with the stock Hzrdus RDX Smoke Black 70X. Robert, who built my current driver, has been testing multiple heads on our build and has found this Sim 2 Max, with the loft turned down from 9* to 8*, to be the top option. I figure why not get a new Sim 2 Max for $250, AND get the bag for free??? If the Sim doesn’t work, I’ll sell it and more than recoup my money. Now.... I wait for the Sim. Gonna be a minute.

  30. What is now looking like my previous gamer, Ping G410 LST with Ventus Black 6-X, I averaged 289 and 50 % fairways hit, tracked on Arccos. The reason I even thought about wanting to see what else was out there was due to swing changes, I really fought the left miss for right handed golfer, so I wanted more spin and an open face that the Ping gave me. I have really worked on being more neutral, and really wanted to hit a power fade, but just couldn’t seem to get it with that setup. I play in central Texas so playing in 15 mph winds is a normal day, and into wind I always felt robbed, but down wind it would fly. Enter the Cobra Radspeed... This is a sample size of 3 rounds, and some range sessions. First thing I noticed was I was hitting fades, and at first a few slices lol for someone would hadn’t hit a fade in years it was a welcome sight, at first. Naturally, after hitting no draws I did get a little confused, but after playing with the weight settings and upright settings I was hitting fades, not weak ones so I couldn’t complain. The next day came back to it, and put back into standard 9* with weight forward, I think it was a length issue, as it was almost an inch longer than what I played before and swing weight was much lighter. Once I was adjusted to the difference I could draw and still hit a fade, my left miss was much less severe. On course numbers for these 3 rounds, all from my Arccos tracking. I had 13/30 drives over 300 yards! Could have been more but I flew some into bunkers at 290 yards, I’ve never rolled into these bunkers before. I had a drive at 344 and 354 yesterday Not my longest drive ever, but if these had hit the fairway I may get past my personal best. Speaking of fairways hit, I averaged 46% fairways hit, I usually average 50%. It is somewhat forgiving, and the more I have played the more fairways I’ve hit. Compared to the last 3 rounds with my Ping, I had 5/28 drives over 300 yards. This added distance with not a huge loss of accuracy, if you can call it that for me lol, my strokes gained has been huge! Last two rounds my driving had +5 handicap facet. Very impressed with this driver, only down side is the loss of ball speed, with the Ping I was usually always over 165, but with the Cobra I was low 160s. The Radspeed puts me in a much better launch and spin window, and I haven’t put in my specs yet.

  33. Clayton. I'm not part of the challenge, just kind helping run it. That said, I have been itching to try OL's for two years, and figured this year, I'd scratch that itch! I was fit by the Cobra rep a couple weeks ago and placed my order. 4,5 Hybrids, 6-GW in Recoil F3 all playing at 38" 1/2 long. I'll definitely share my thoughts as we go along, if I can do so without taking away from the competition. Heck maybe I'll jump in from week to week, just so nobody else has to worry about finishing in last place

    How'd you play?

Missing both ways, unfortunately. I tend miss more to the left than the right. I wish I could just drop down to the Super Hybrid and solve the problem, but I was left going left most of the day with it. Been working with my coach on it - I like to drop my rear shoulder to start the downswing which gets me coming way underneath and inside. If I hang back I go right (or drop kick it with irons/hybrids), if I get to my front side more I go left. Throw in some toe hooks when I don't do either of the above but don't rotate very well. Frustrating game! Although, to be fair, I've never played this course from the back before and on a few holes I just flat out took the wrong line which put me in bad positions for my second shot. Score tends to go as my driver goes, although it seems like during rounds where my driver is good my putting is poor. Round and round it goes...

    How'd you play?

Sounds like my round off the tee last time out! Something about the early season and wanting to crush them all is a bad mix for me. 6 1-putts with 3 lip-outs sounds like you are getting dangerous with the LAB putter man! I also seem to do better on quicker greens. Keep it up!

    How'd you play?

    - 44/48 = 92 / 90 ESC (+21) - 4/13 FIR - 3/18 GIR (1 birdie) - 31 Putts (1 3-putt, 11 2-putts, 6 1-putts) - Had three lip out on me... blah. Had a free greens fee that expired this week at the condo course I play occasionally, so I took the afternoon off to take advantage of that. Decided to challenge myself from the back tees, which in retrospect with a 15 MPH sustained wind was really a poor choice. The course rates out as a 72.9/142, but they shortened a few holes to accommodate more condos over the past five years, so it's only 6,300-ish yards now. I would assume they'll re-rate sometime, but that's besides the point of this post... My golf game is feast or famine so far this season. Today I couldn't hit anything from the tee and it cost me dearly. I think I lost five balls in total to hazards or out of bounds, and I carded a nine on the first par 5 after most likely visiting someone's yard with my tee shot (couldn't tell, ball was right, going right) and then getting a bad luck bounce on the cart path in front of the green out of bounds on my approach shot. Six pars and a birdie tells you how poorly the other 11 holes went. At least I putted really well! Something about these greens really suit me - I putted extremely well last time I played here, too. They're very quick but they roll true and I enjoy that a lot.

  38. So far here is what I am thinking based on stock offerings. Very excited to try one length and see the affects on my game compared to CB Miura Irons and 70/80 gram TX shafts. Hopefully bending lofts a little weak will help with gapping as my current 7 iron is 35 degrees. One length seems like it can only help my game to have a consistent swing from 4 hybrid all the way through 60 degree wedge. Radspeed XB 9 degree Motore F1 60 tipped 1/2 to 1 inch Radspeed Fairway 3 and 7 Motore f1 70 tipped 1.5 inches 4 hybrid Radspeed one length Tensei White 100x (debating going 3 and 4 instead of 7 wood but definitely like woods better than hybrids) 5-GW Radspeed One Length irons $Taper 130x, 1 degree flat, 2 degrees weak (would prefer my stock shaft of x7 or x100 but want to test what is available to public at no upcharge) 56 @ 54 and 60 Snakebite one length wedge $Taper 130x or 610 S+

  46. Just got back from my fitting. More details to share later, but first impressions are that these irons are incredibly hot - I was using the 7-iron, and once I got my swing dialed in I was consistently getting carry numbers around 180 yards!
