i had a lesson tonight and worked on width in my backswing. my path shifted to 2-3* I-O and i was absolutely flushing my irons. we worked on hitting target greens through the bag from PW-5i, and i was as good directionally as i’ve been all season it seems i’ve picked up a little speed as well. my 8i was 102-103mph, 7i 106-107, and 6i touched 110 a few times. we finished up with some chips and pitches, as 40-80 yards is the absolute worst part my game and it’s a shot i’m left with a lot.

I took some time yesterday to work on weight shift in my swing using the Divot Board to quantify my results. I have a tendency to keep my weight back on my right foot throughout the entire swing as shown in my last range session. I found a water bottle drill where you place the bottle behind your trail foot and try not to knock it over. I've been doing practice reps in the house the last few days, working on the feel of doing it properly. With the Divot Board I was seeing better ground interaction with a lot of swings hitting at or ahead of the ball mark. I did get a little sloppy on a couple of shots and was hitting 4 inches behind the ball. I'm planning on playing this weekend, hopefully my iron and fairway wood game will show some improvement.

@GolfSpy MPR was gracious enough to let me join in on this thread, so I'll chime in with some initial thoughts as I received my Mevo+ yesterday afternoon as well. After getting everything opened and setup on my phone, I took the Mevo+ out to the backyard and hit about 35 chips/pitches on "indoor" mode since the ball flight window was so short. I was hitting at a driveway marker I had set at 20 yards. Every single shot Mevo+ recorded must have been within inches of accuracy. And the flight measurement was spot on based on the different types of trajectory I was trying. Very impressed. This morning, I brought the Mevo+ along with me to the course to use on the range before the round. I go out on the range before rounds and pick 20 or so balls to warm up with. I hit my 54 wedge, 7 iron, 4 hybrid and driver this morning and recorded the shots with the Mevo+. I think the accuracy of the Mevo+ is much improved over the regular Mevo, especially with the 54 wedge. It was chilly this morning (high 40s/low 50s) and the range balls had sat out all night. As I worked up to longer clubs I think my carry distances and ball speeds were a little off due to the cold range balls, but overall the shot shapes were spot on. There's a ton of data to go through and I'm only scratching the surface with my initial thoughts/use. But I'm very excited and definitely had a positive first impression. I think this thing could take my game to the next level if I can work it mindfully into my practice routine. Screenshot of the FS Golf app below.

Received my Mevo+ yesterday, but I haven't used it yet. This was no act of discipline on my part: my wife had taken Kirke to Drive, Chip, and Putt, and so I had three of our children to keep alive. It didn't seem like the best time to set up a new launch monitor. I'm hoping to get it set up this afternoon and do a little garage practice before league this evening. If all goes well, I should be able to do some side-by-side comps with the SkyTrak on Saturday. I'm thinking 5–7 shots from partial wedge, PW, 7, 5, and hybrid. I'll plan to keep every shot that both devices read, no matter how awful (reading bad shots accurately is also important on an LM). I'll also record how many missed shots each device has.

- 41/38 = 79 (+7) - 7/15 FIR - 10/18 GIR (2 birdies) - 33 Putts (2 3-putts, 11 2-putts, 5 1-putts) One of the ugliest feeling 79s I'll ever shoot as I didn't hit the ball particularly well and got a few favorable bounces off trees lining the fairway. But I hit a few good short game shots when it mattered and sank a few big putts. I also strung together two solid birdies on No. 2 and No. 16, which are usually bogey holes for me. After opening the back with bogey on No. 10 and double on No. 11, I cruised with six pars and a birdie on holes 12-18. One of the side effects of the last lesson I had is that I seem to be hitting the ball too high with the driver now. It's definitely more accurate, but I'm getting too much spin and my distances have gone down quite a bit (at least 20-30 yards on good strikes). I'm going to have to get that straightened out.

OMG I can’t tell you how angry I am!!! it became clear after just a few holes this morning that my computer has been snooped into. that’s right I’m afraid, and it’s now clear who was doing the snooping!! yup, It was Evan, (my Evnroll)… he obviously was snooping and apparently found the notification that I was selected to review the new Edel EAS putter… so he snuck out and drank some monster drink or something, and proceeded to drain almost every putt this morning in an effort to not get placed on the bench! Can you believe that sh!t? He made it thru the entire round with only 26 putts! And that caused me to shoot my best round in about 6 months, an even par round with 3 birdies! what a dirty rat I tell ya, a stinkin dirty rat!

I wanted to post a brief tutorial on a Forum feature that I find essential: custom streams. If you just open "forum.mygolfspy.com," it takes you to the Forum home page, which defaults to showing the organizational categories of the Forum. But if you're a regular member, you don't want to see the structure: you want a stream of the most updated content. So start by clicking the "Recent Posts" button in the upper right of the screen: At the top of the Recent Posts page, you'll find this tool bar, which is where the magic happens: Here, you can customize how you want the content posted in the Forum to show up for you. My stream, for instance, is set to group everything by threads, organized by those with the most recent post. I show all the threads, whether I've read them or not (unread threads remained bolded). A big tip: I just checked the "tests_tests_pl" (not the most elegant name, and I'll look into changing that) to my "Content Types" options, and that now includes all the posts made to the new 2021 Official Testing threads to my feed! If you want to check out my feed, you can do so at this link: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/discover/26/ I think it's really cool that, if you create a custom stream and save it, it creates a static link that you can reuse and share.

We are all anxious to get some sort of update. If one has the "no news is good news" mind frame, then we are thinking that there were no specific head/shaft/grip issues with any of our requests. Fingers crossed we hear something soon.

I hit a small bucket this morning just wanting to build off of what I worked on yesterday, feeling more of a shoulder turn and also feeling like I keep my head back when I start the downswing (which is really just keeping it in place and not moving my upper body forward). I absolutely flushed some irons today. Also hit a bunch thin but that's OK. Driver was so-so but the Bertha Mini and my fairways off the tee were awesome. The practice greens had been punched so I just stuck around the chipping green for half an hour working with my 54 and 58. Holed a couple of chips and left on a good note.

Rather then commenting on the ban itself or whether it should or shouldn't be happening I want to focus on the other part of it. We have had several discussions in threads about putting and the strokes involved, with that also comes the ability to read the green. This for me is my favorite part of putting. Visualizing how I want the putt to drop, I see break do I want to hit it firm and take some of the break away and have it drop fast center cup or should I play the break and use it often with the risk of it taking too much and maybe using the side of the cup. The ability to read a green and its contours as well as speed is an important part of being a good putter. Of course speed as well and grains, but this is so important to me and what separates some of the best putters in the world. I won't be sad to see pre-made or purchased green books go away, as I think it will assist in identifying the best all around putters. From consistency of stroke week in and week out, as well as under pressure, but also in their creativity and ability to see whats happening. That also has not a thing to say of wind and how that factors in. Either way I think it could be a great separator and we will see some truly special putters rise to the occasion when this is finalized. I could go into a curling analogy again, but to keep it simple the ability to read ice and how it is changing, moving and how the stones are reacting to the conditions is what separates the best skips in the world from the rest. This is in large part to why I think this will be a unique change and one that won't truly hurt the best putters out there as they will have that ability and be able to overcome any change in having a green book or not.

Due to going back to shift work and some terrible weather, I haven't been playing much recently. I have also been trying some new irons, Titleist T100, so I haven't been expecting much. I have managed to get three nine hole hits in just in the last few days and I was very surprised. for the 27 holes I am 5 over par and falling deeply in love with the T100s. They are so nice to hit, spin well and are super consistent. Looks like I have found my new sticks

There may be some folks out there living vicariously through you. You need to look at the bigger picture really.

... Speaking for myself, the delay with my T100S irons, especially when everyone else received theirs and I was still waiting, kinda increased my excitement. Considering that several are waiting for what I personally think are the best all around players irons in golf right now, hopefully their excitement is just growing.

I play mostly as a single but every once in a while my club has some outing and I play elsewhere. For the most part I haven't run into any jerks since I moved to TN about 15 years ago. But I ran into a few when I lived up north. One guy was so horrible to play with ( excessive cursing after every shot, lamming the clubs into theground or throwing his clubs further than he hit the ball, blaming the birds for being to loud). After 9 holes we told him to play ahead we had somebusiness calls to make. A hot dog later we got in behind the group behind us and enjoyed the rest of the round without him. Life is to short to deal with butt heads. Personally in 30 plus years of playing I only came across two that were unbearable. So as mentioned my club has outings, this coming weekend is one of them. I go play as a single at a public course so I'll get paired up with someone. I'm also going to Myrtle Beach for a week and will go play as a single. I'm not worried most people that go there to play golf are golfers. If I'm the single in a group that is together I kind of go with the flow but at the same time stick to my game. If the young guns want to play from the tips, I just say I don't have the length for that but I won't hold you up. I'll play up one set. If I'm playing with seniors and they play from the seniors tee I'll play with them. I'm old enough. The important thing is to be flexible, friendly, play within your limits and have fun. Most golfers are fun to be around and you can make some new golf buddies.

one of the first larger projects we did at the new house was to install an invisible fence border for our dogs. the local Invisible Fence franchise is awesome…included in the price of the system is installation of a perimeter up to 1 acre, plus 3 training sessions to acclimate your dog(s) to their boundaries. the trainer just left a little while ago after the 3rd session and so far i couldn’t be happier. my boxer is a complete lunatic and even he stayed a good 2-3 feet inside the boundary while the trainer walked her dog back and forth in front of the house. so now i’ve got some good peace of mind that the dogs are contained all around the house

GIR has been a big struggle lately. distances are spot on but i’ve been blocking a lot right. hopefully we’re turning a corner on that stop being a bad influence! speed isn’t the goal. any more and i’ll be teeing off with a 6i on par 5s. the upside for you is you can have all my long clubs haha haha “hey you guys wanna see this ball go 100 feet up and 3 feet forward?”

I'll put it this way and I am sorry for all who don't know curling, but it has a huge impact on how I see this. In curling there are a lot of variables to how a sheet of ice will play. When you go into a building or event there is no book on ice will be this stones will be this. We have practice's before tournaments where we can get a feel for the ice and stones. Often these conditions are similar to games, but maybe a little different as well as ice can change game to game day to day, much like golf as the day goes on the course changes. When we go to a rink to play we often have homemade note books on different aspects of the building (sheets on the walls or sides are often different then middle sheets), stones (some curl more then others, some are slower or faster and so on) as well as the ice and even sometimes outside conditions. Throughout an event or time there we build basically a mini record of all the different things we noticed and experienced. This I think is more then fair if it was applied to golf and greenbooks, if someone wants to go to the green keeper and ask them what they are seeing what they are doing, take extra practices rounds and take the time to do the research and build a book for themselves great! That is extra effort they are doing and in the end they still have to acclimate to the conditions of the day and read the green. Hopefully that all makes sense. I agree it would be hard to ban greenbooks all together because then yardage books would have to go out the window and it would cascade into many other things, but having to pony up X amount for a green book where you haven't put the work or effort into making I am okay with.

I like this point. Different angle of thinking, If I didn't have a work order management system forget it my job would be a nightmare.

After a day of sulking I decided to take this as an opportunity to try some of the losing candidates again. It just so happened that the pro shop at my club had some Titleist trial sets come in. The only lefty set he had were T100 with AMT white s300 shafts in them. I had tried the T100 irons briefly before and didn't think I had the game for them but I thought "whats the worst that can happen?" Well the first swing felt good and went straight, so maybe beginners luck? The next few shots followed the same pattern, including a three iron off the tee so I started to get creative. A few draws, fades, low shots and high shots later and I had shot 2 over par for nine. I thought that went well but there is no way I can do it again, so a couple of days later I walked on to the 1st expecting nothing. Well....I shot two over again!! It had to be too good to be true so I played the back nine yesterday and.....bogeyed the last to shoot one over par !! I immediately took the clubs to the pro and gave them back saying "Take these back or you will never see them again" The combination of those heads with those shafts just works for me . There is a Titleist fitting day next Friday and I am booked for 1pm, dont be surprised if I have my new Irons ordered about 30 minutes after that......

A quick range session late this afternoon got my attention and earned it a spot in the tryouts!

Now, if I could just find the money to buy a new set right before I go play...I'd be breaking 80 in no time.

You will have bad experiences but they will be far outweighed by the good ones. I have played a lot as a single and while you do get the occasional guy you described they are really few and far between.

As documented elsewhere on the forum (What did you practice today thread), I have developed issues swinging my irons over the past few weeks and, as luck would have it, a bit before my Sub 70 demo clubs arrived. A few days ago, Sub 70 sent me an email with my the UPS label for returning the demo clubs and to check in with how I liked them. I sent Sub 70 a note this morning noting that I would be sending them back today/tomorrow but would likely demo them again once I had semblance of decent form once again. Sub 70 responded offering to let me keep the clubs for a bit longer to continue to get a feel for them. The Sub 70 customer experience continues to be exceptional. Thank you Sub 70!

I doubt any of those raters have played my club nor the countless other private ones around the country. Lawsonia, which is a very good course, had dropped off the ratings charts for years and years. It's back for some reason, perhaps the attention it got from Johnson's article. I would gladly play there again. All one has to do is actually play it and Blackwolf (the championship course does not get rated because its an amalgamation of two nines but it is the original course) and Whistling to see that it is not in their league - its also not at their price point so it doesn't need to be. We will both continue to hold our opinions on this matter so for me it's time to move on and enjoy the golf on TV as well as playing it.

Excited for this to get started today! Not sure how much I'll be able to watch with a 9 hour time difference, but I will certainly try... or just get up ridiculously early. Although between the heat, refrigeration malfunctions at work I may end up just being up anyway. All to say lets go whoever is on my fantasy team, Xander and all the amateurs. Would love to see them put on a good show!

Most of my golf is played as a single, sometimes paired with someone else. When I'm out there on my own, it's peaceful and quiet. I do wish I had some more regular rounds with other people though. I try to drag family along, but it's not always easy to get schedules lined up. I also have a quarter set coming that'll make it easier to get one of my brothers out with me. I'm sure if I find a course to play regularly rather than jumping around from course to course each time out it'd be easier, but I have plenty of public courses around to try and only so much time to try them all.

Great attitude, I've played throughout Europe and the US and do the same. I really don't mind who I join up with we've all got one thing in common, golf!

I’m not for banning a whole lot of things, but I do agree with getting rid of the green books. I think this would be the “great separator” of talent on Tour, and I think it was what was intended when golf first started. Reading greens is an art, and for folks like me who don’t do it well visually, AimPoint has been a big help. Yeah, get rid of the books.
