    How'd you play?

... Momma said there'd be days like this. Swing change was a problem right from the start. Just could not sync things up as my body was either racing ahead of my arms or I over compensated and moved it too slowly. I hit 1 green on the front 9. ONE GREEN. So really struggled with 2 bogies and 6 up and downs. The one green I hit I was left with a 4 foot putt that broke 2 feet so at least a tap in par for a change. ... Thankfully things got better on #10 as there was a back up and I took a ton of practice swings keeping in mind Dennis Hopper talking to Christian Slater in True Romance "I love you, but slow it down man!" Once I slowed my body down a little everything clicked into place. I hit every green on the back 9 with 2 birdies. Cobra 5 wood shined again on a 247 yd second shot to a back pin on a par 5. I did have a nice 7ish mph wind at my back and landed just short, bounced on and rolled to pin high. Missed the 12 foot eagle putt as it didn't break more than an inch but I had a 6" tap on the high side for my first birdie of the day. The Sim2 Max has it's work cut out for it when it arrives. ... And not like every swing was dialed in on the back, still had some pulls off the tee and one push but had many more good swings than bad swings. Expected with a swing change.

Our oldest daughter graduated today. BS in Molecular Genetics, BA in French. The last four years have not been without their struggles for her, but she persevered. She has a job lined up to be a substitute French teacher for Columbus City Schools while she tries to find a job in genetics. She's had a couple interviews and one opportunity seems promising, but nothing has come from them yet.

Got rained out after 9, shot a 46 on the front. Hit a 294 yard (CP assisted) drive on #5 and one of the best drives I've hit on #9, 235 into the teeth of a 15 mph wind. Then the heavens opened up and I bailed...still had to get everything out of the bag and it's drying in the basement. Edit: I looked at ShotScope and the drive on #5 was 301 and the drive on #9 was 254.

  4. So my buddy blew me off today, so I went out late this afternoon for a solo round. Shot 74 37/37 with two birdies tying my best round of the year and low round at my home course. Even went brain dead for a few holes but got lucky with some bounces or hit fantastic recovery shots. Now if would just stop raining in Ohio.

It was a beautiful day with temps in the low 80s; was expecting CPO since it rained most of the day yesterday but it was 90*. I hit the ball really well and had some of the best ball striking I have had in a long time. Only problem was my putting; I had 7; yes 7, three putts. my speed control was horrible. 41/40:81 (12 FW, 13 GIR, 40 putts)

  6. As a whole, solid round today. driving and approach were not stellar but serviceable. Wedge and putting were lights out. 44/42. 5 fairways, 4 greens, 28 putts 3 up and downs including a sand save. 2 penalties. 7 pars, 8 Bogeys and 3 doubles. I’ll take the no worse than double but all 3 were my fault (I said wedge play was stellar but 2 of these were piss poor wedge shots when I was in position for at worst a par, I quickly forgot because everything else was ) approach came around towards the end of the round We walked and finished in 4:19. Super happy with the score as this is a course I have not played in about 5 years and posted a 101), looking forward to getting out there again soon. Lauggrd at this, on 16 par 3 (187) @StrokerAce and I couldn’t have been any closer to each other, coming up couldn’t even see the 2nd ball, thought I had my first ace, alas wasn’t in.

A different summer day on the golf course. We had a 7:20am tee time and in was 63º with a breeze. Had to wear a jacket; took it off on Hole #5. However, the wind picked up... blowing 15-25mph with higher gusts. First time playing in this much wind in a couple of months, I had a LOT of bogeys, one double and very few pars. Shot 87. Driver was surprisingly good, but my new swing didn't hold up with other clubs. I had one lowlight/highlight; On the par 4 #3 hole (#1 handicap) after a decent drive with wind into and from the right, I split the middle. Second shot over water... uh... didn't make it. Dropped 3rd shot. Hit 4th shot with LW at a back pin, but downwind, the ball went off the back. Chipped in for a bogey. It was 83º when we finished. However, the cool weather only lasts through tomorrow. Back into the 100's starting Tuesday, and 110º on Friday and Saturday. "I love summer... good ol' summer time."

Saturday 2as our first round at the new club, Plantation Palms. We had 32 players, with 9 coming from the previous Saturday game. I had difficulty hitting the ball as I found myself not transferring my weight back to my front foot. It was a scorcher with temps in mid 90’s. I shot a 49/45:94…….Ugh! I know there will be better days ahead.

  12. To an extent. When you dropped all those guys before it looked like you were giving up which I’m guessing is why your roster was locked. This may come off wrong but IMO you are out of the playoffs therefore anybody on your team and inside the top 80 of the FedEx standings is undroppable. As far as I concerned anybody rated there or higher should be undroppable not just for you but any team 11 games back or more. There is a difference between dropping someone to try to make the playoffs and just fielding a team. I know that a team out of the playoffs that fields a team can potentially knock someone out of the playoffs this week but it shouldn’t be done by dropping those higher ranked players. Again this is just my opinion and by no means law! Lol

  14. Week 26: St. Jude Invitational Second to last week of the regular season is in the books and although some things have been decided there is still one week left... but a little more on that later. Congrats to Abe Ancer on a playoff win! Is it just me or are we seeing a lot more playoffs for titles this season then previous years? We really should start the fantasy section off by giving a big CONGRATS to @blackngold_blood for winning the regular season. With a 12 game advantage going into the final week he can rest easy knowing he is safely into the playoffs with the most bonus points. However also the most to loose in the first week of playoffs Well done and congrats to all 64 (plus a few more who got traded before they made it to the weekend) players who contributed to your wins throughout the season. As for this week our high scoring team of the week went to @00sportsmanwith 255.8 points! That's majors level points. His team was lead by Burns, Hideki, Cam Smith and Hatton. Following very close behind was @STUDque at 253.95 points on the week. There was a total of 15 teams this week who broke 200 points which meant our league median was also solid at 167.9. Now onto the standings. There is 1 week left, 10 wins, about a B- field at best and lots of scenarios for both the 2nd all the way down to our 25th and final spot. Lets start at the top as we normally do. Although this is how it looks now, it will likely look a lot different next week. For starters I will only have 2 in the field which will cost me at least 3-4 positions... hopefully not more. Positions are so close and all depending on how teams want to play out the last week to make moves we could see some bold moves to move up the board for those bonus points. As for the cutline I won't say it is safe, but there is some breathing room. However once again the field okay this week and with a lack of true top end talent (a few big names, but not many) will decide a lot. In reality 28-33 should be pretty safe, but this is fantasy so anything can happen. There is a small 2.5 game cushion between 35-36 spots and I can't help but wonder first how there were so many ties this year, but also if that half game will come into play when the dust settles next week. Are there any teams outside the top 35 you would wager have a good chance at getting in? This is going to be a fun week and good luck to everyone. Make your waiver moves with intent and purpose as they could mean a lot more then previous weeks. Spend FAAB wisely as this is a situation where we could see some names drop in search of fielding a full team. I know my strategy and have my plan... do you have yours? Good luck all and thanks for participating. A few quick housekeeping notes that after the regular season ends although we will still have scores via Fantrax it does not update with our methods of playoffs and therefore is put together manually. Scores are still to be counted on Fantrax, but standings will not reflect there. It's been said a few times before but as a reminder. Top 35 teams get into playoffs. After the first week of playoffs 15 get dropped and we are down to top 20, week 3 (final week) will only have our Top 10 participating. POINTS CARRY OVER! and we will do our best to keep you updated with the current standings and how they are progressing. Finally if you are out of the playoffs, please be respectful as even though this is a fun league there is an amazing title on the line and we take this seriously. So if you are out please avoid making bad moves and putting the league in a awkward position. Thank you for participating and we enjoyed the work you have done with your team, but I would just suggest leaving the roster as is if you have no chance of making the top 35. That is just my opinion though.

  15. A man was walking along a Florida beach and stumbled across an old lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it, and out popped a genie. The genie said, "OK, You released me from the lamp, blah blah blah. This is the fourth time this month, and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three... You only get one wish!" The man sat, and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I'm scared to fly, and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?" The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible!!! Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete -- how much steel!! No, think of another wish." The man said, "OK, I'll try to think of a really good wish." Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women, know how they feel inside, and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment. Know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say "nothing,", know how to make them truly happy." The genie said, "Do you want that bridge to be two lanes or four?"

    How'd you play?

... Finally got to play another round as the 115+ temps dropped to 107. I am really liking my new swing and should have changed years ago. As always a new swing has it's set backs as it never solidifies over night. I will hit 3 or 4 excellent shots in a row then my arms are impatient waiting for my body or my body jumps ahead of my arms and I hit a really bad shot. Usually a big push and occasionally a draw/hook. But the good news is I hit them really solidly, like solidly to the opposite side of another fairway LOL. I just have to remain patient and understand it is part of the process. And the best news is my back feels better after 18 so I know I am on the right track. ... 3 rounds in with the new swing and every one of them the back 9 is worse than the front as it seems more difficult to keep the new swing in sync by the back. I also usually play the White tees at 6264 although I play the par 3's from the tips so it stretches to 6355, but the guys I was paired up with played the Silvers at 6722 so I joined them and was a little surprised to see it really didn't make much difference other than #3 that goes from 443 to 459. I could still reach 2 of the par 5's in two so I will probably keep playing these tees unless I am paired up with a group playing the Whites. ... Lastly we all know how clubs being replaced seem to really come alive hoping for a reprieve. Evidently my Cobra Speedzone 5 wood found out I ordered a new Sim2 Max 5 wood and responded with reaching those 2 par 5's in two from 231 and 230. It had been launching too high but gave me perfect trajectories yesterday. I just did not have the heart to tell my Cobra 5 wood it is too late and it will be replaced in a week or two.

    How'd you play?

Played a solid round today 39/41 for an 80. The front and back felt much different than that, but two birdies on the back 9 par 5’s helped ease the blow of a double and triple bogey on the back. From a strokes gained perspective it was a really strange day for me. I had a great day ball striking with the irons, highlighted by this 205 yard 5-iron that sat right down on the 6th hole. The top 3 pluses and minuses show that I played really well from the rough and my 100-150 yard approach shots. Sadly, I took 4 penalty strokes off the tee. A 5 wood that crossed into the woods on 1 (probably took too much club/too aggressive of a line for the first swing, but I did save par!). Another 5-wood which counted as two of the penalty strokes because I re-teed. And a Driver swing that realistically I’m not that mad at. It was a high draw and a good strike, just wasn’t set up properly. I also had 3 inexcusable 3-putt bogeys. None of them were really difficult, probably in the 20-30 foot range. One I had a bad stroke and left it 4-5 feet short and missed the second. The other two we’re really frustrating because they were no more than 3 footers that I missed just to the right of the hole. Those two putts really were just a micro view of a macro problem, as I was not reading the breaks on the greens well today. But, at the end of the day I’m still really happy with my play recently. I feel like I’m getting closer to my season goal of a 4 handicap and closer to my ultimate goal of scratch. Side note, loving the Epic Max LS and Motore X combo. A little more practice (and some comparisons with the Ventus once Rapsodo testing begins) and I’ll be really comfortable with it. As always, it was a pleasure playing with @Lacassem and @StrokerAce!

  20. Even though I am a high handicapper, i almost always play a premium ball that i buy at a good price. My problem is i switch between so many different balls because i use whatever i get a good deal on. I am vowing to stick with one ball going forward (or try my best to). I tried the Bridgestone XS yesterday, i wanted to see what happened with a spinny ball with my short game. That thing spins so much in the short game, i could see a big difference. Mostly a good thing. However, had one crazy shot yesterday where i was hitting a 40 yard blind pitch shot where i was hitting up to an elevated green. I hit it pretty well and i heard one of my playing partners who was standing on the green say "woah". I walked up and asked him what happened, since i couldnt see the result from where i hit the shot. He said that it landed on the fringe and instead of rolling forward, it spun back off the fringe and almost went through the rough into a bunker. Now, that one example, was not a good result, but i do like the spinnyness of the XS. Feel like i can be a little bit more aggressive in how hard i hit my short game shots without worrying about the ball rolling too much. When I start worrying, i get timid and then start mishitting.

  23. I think you have two issues: Production (of heads) and Sourcing (of components). Some companies over-ordered shafts and grips to stock their build shops so they could be prepared for this. Other companies clearly operate a more lean operation where they order certain shafts/grips in more of a Just In Time fashion. Heck - TXG - a custom build shop - ordered tons of heads, shafts and grips to prepare for this and mentioned on last week's livestream that they don't really have any delays in building customer orders right now.

  27. Welcome to the forum and to the sport. Glove longevity depends a bit on the environment its worn in. I wear one out about every 30 rounds. Most recently I started using Kirkland and am finding their fit and quality very good for the price. They are lasting longer than the Callaway's I had used previously. They do run a bit on the large side. I usually wear large but find their M/L perfect. As for a fitting now, I share the others recommendation to invest in lessons instead. Not only will you get some sound fundamentals to build on, but very likely the instructor will have some recommendations on what to consider in clubs and shafts... kind of a twofer . Concerning rules and keeping accurate score, that's a double edge sword. On one hand it's good to get started playing as you eventually will (well, most players anyway). On the other hand, don't get too obsessive about it either and make sure enjoying the game is first and foremost. Have fun!

  31. I understand where you are coming from but you dropped all those guys that included current #32 FedEx. They cleared waivers before anything was done and still had not picked up anybody to replace a single guy you dropped. I will level with ya without getting too far involved here. This is where my thought process was throughout this ordeal just to put it out there and you know where I’m coming from. When you dropped all those guys I was 60% thinking you quit. Then when they cleared waivers and you still hadn’t picked up anybody I was 100% sure. Now with that said I never seen your post about not knowing there wasn’t an event and wanting to field a full team. Still unsure where it was posted as I only seen a reply to it. While that changes things slightly, there is no way to undue what has been done. We can only live and learn from it.

  34. Whatever category and brand gives you the best results. Handicap has nothing to do with the category of club. There’s plenty examples of low digit handicaps with high swing speed playing GI or players distance clubs. AP2 and now T100 irons are the #1 irons played on pga tour and they are more in the players distance than players clubs. There also examples of mid handicaps playing more of a players club because the sole along with the ball flight work best for their swing. Launch, ball speed, spin, peak height and descent angle are the things one should look at when choosing any iron, wedge, hybrid or wood. Let the fitter get you in the right combo of head and shaft.

  37. I don’t think Cobra has any choice in the matter, unfortunately. If they don’t have things from their vendors & suppliers, then they can’t send them to the challenge members. I would have to think that they considered logistical issues with custom orders and potential problems before they agreed to hold the CCC with MGS this year. The timing delays stink, as do Joe’s concerns with his shafts, but it’s not like Cobra is sitting there saying “meh”. Their hands are tied in a lot of this I would think, based on my own experiences lately with order delays, product shortages, etc at work.

My course too. Tenth hole is number 2 handicap. 413 yards from the whites, the first 250 all up hill, then flat until 20 yards from the green. Then the green is elevated a bit. Has two traps in front with a center path opened to run a ball up. But the traps are a bit in front of the green. You got to carry a bit if your in one of them.

TT is in Fact Team Titleist TT loyalist isn’t rally an official designation. Costs can range from $1300 to $2100 per person and include all golf, accommodations at the resort, breakfast each day, a dinner one night and awards lunch the final day. And they may get some SWAG sent to give out. And sometime Allan or someone else from the Team Titleist site may show up if they can. But the official Team Titleist Invitationals are truly special events. You will make new golf friends that last years. There was going to be an International Team Titleist event somewhere in the Dominican in 2020 but it was cancelled due to Covid.
