    Got Problems?

I wanted to give an update on my mother-in-law, as the past week or so there hasn't been much of a change in her condition and really nothing to tell. She's finally cleared of Covid and her MRSA is under control. She's doing well enough that they transferred her to a rehab facility last night. She's still got a long road ahead of her, but at least this is a positive. It's going to take a while to get her back up and walking as she's been bed ridden for a month and a half. My wife said she talked to her today and today was the first time Cindy really realized how bad of a shape she's been in. Honestly, she's been pretty disoriented and confused, telling some wild stories. I've gotta say, she's got am imagination. I appreciate all the support and encouragement as my family has been going through a lot. You all are awesome! I'll continue to update as things progress, I just wanted to share she's finally out of the hospital.

  3. Mid 50’s morning, that wet dew all over the grass and the morning sun. I played the executive course down the street just for a short walk. Opener is a 95 yard par 3. 56* to 7 feet and rolled in the birdie. That dew streak into the hole and the way the water runs up as the ball cuts through the dew never gets old.

  7. I was just out your way a few weeks ago. Was I with you? Or was I with a few of you. You shall soon see! I wanted to get out to that area before all that white crap starts falling and then I would be lost for the winter and freezing my ball off. Yellow Ball goes south for the winter! Got to pick on those southern guys with their sissy little umbrella drinks.

    Got Problems?

Remember you asked; FORD-Fix or Repair Daily After 30 years of Toyota's I thought I'd give good old Henry a try Toe-I use industrial size nail clippers and got a bit too aggressive on one particular toe nail. Wallet-I apparently swept it up with a McDonalds bag and newspaper from the front seat of my car and threw it away. Finger-Digging through a dumpster of 10 bags of trash looking for said wallet. Going out to play a round this afternoon, I may advise my buddies not to ride in the same cart with me

  10. 9th hole this evening is a sharp dogleg left. Trying to draw my drive, I pushed it right and it got caught up in some trees. Left me with 256 to the middle of the green, with a back pin. Hit an absolute laser beam, probably the best off the deck hybrid I've ever hit (second best came two holes earlier!). It pitched about 5 yards on the green and rolled back to about a 20 foot putt. Two putt for par, and one of my least likely greens in reg I've ever hit!

  11. It seems that nobody thinks of taking me boating! I just live around the golf courses. Do you know why he has a duck boat? A) That's all the boat he could afford. B) Duck boats have blinds. That's where he goes to hide when the Yankees put a whoop ass on the Red Sox. C) He yells duck on the golf course so much that a Duck Boat just made sense. D All of the above!

  16. So true. It also supports the argument that most higher handicap players should choose the next stronger lofted club - especially if borderline on yardage. This is where having spent more range sessions with the SC200 and gathering min/max/avg carry distances has really helped me. My last range session I worked only with my 8i-AW and hit 2 large buckets. I'm really liking the consistency and gapping with the ZX5's. I'm going to repeat this with the 4i-7i next session. As is typical for most of us, getting consistent yardages on the long irons is more challenging and where @cnosilcomment above is most applicable. I'm also taking a tip from @Tom the Golf Nutabout making range sessions more deliberate and focused on an objective - as opposed to just mindlessly smashing balls.

  17. During my last round...2 shots on the same hole. Been struggling with driver so decided to leave it out of the bag as we don't have really long holes and I'm hitting my hybrids pretty well. 6th hole, 430y par 4, elevated tee with a narrow fairway. 19° 816 H1, struck it sweet straight down the middle. As I was playing on my own I didn't wait to see it stop as I knew it was safe. Kept strolling down the fairway, can't see the ball where I thought it would be so walked a little further and there it was. Garmin to middle of the green was saying 107 so 323 yard drive . Pushed the wedge slightly off the side of the really tricky green. I've been practicing this sort of shot with my 52° and felt I could get close. Came out perfect, landed exactly where I wanted to and rolled dead centre of the hole, last half a roll it dropped - a bit like Tiger on the 16th Gave myself a little fist pump

6 weeks early isn’t terrible though the child is fully formed. At week 32 the baby will be fully developed so the risk factors are lower

    Got Problems?

My brother-in-law's girlfriend gave birth to their son two days ago, about 6 weeks early. Haven't heard too much news other than the baby will probably be in NICU for at least a month. Having been through the NICU with my own, I do not wish those kinds of experiences on anyone.

  20. played a scramble today at a really nice club in stamford ct par 5 14th hole playing 560. my partners drive left us 290 out sitting in the first cut we decided the best play was for the shorter hitter in the group to hit a safe iron about 175 and for the two longer guys to pull 3w and go for it. plan worked to perfection. first guy hit a great 7i to the middle of the fairway. second guy hit a good 3w but tugged it a little and ended up about 50 yards short in the left rough. i hit last and hit potentially the best 3w of my life. took off like a bullet starting about 10 yards left of the green and cut back to the middle. hit the apron leading to the green and rolled up to the collar. if it hadn’t rained all morning, it would’ve rolled right up to the middle of the green

Looks like I’ll be getting the 849 pro for the forum test today! Can’t wait to hit it, and this is right on time for my golf trip this weekend! Can’t wait to see how it does! With this and the no. 005 putter I just picked up I’m almost to a full sub 70 bag! Probably will dip into the wedge space next when the zip cores in need a replacement

    How'd you play?

I finally beat my buddies again, its been months since I have even been close. I found something on the range that worked with my feels, and I had a really good front 9 of 41, but just had couldn't get any putts to fall, and added two doubles on the back for 46. I really feel like I am close to putting it together. I didn't have any really horrible shots, just a tough conditions day mixed with sanded greens didn't seem to help. Also, I am loving the Taylormade Milled Grind 3 54*, it has been money.

    How'd you play?

So true. It also supports the argument that most higher handicap players should choose the next stronger lofted club - especially if borderline on yardage. ... to both you guys. I have said this many times but every mid to high index player (and some low index players) should commit to playing 18-36 holes taking one more club for every iron shot. They should run the "risk" of flying greens and take full swings. If they have 150yds and that is how far they think they normally hit their 7 iron, they should hit a 6 iron. If the pin is in the back they should still hit 6 iron and deal with the chip back if they do indeed fly the green, which almost all will not. ... One of my Aha! moments came when I started hitting more club anytime I even considered it. In-between clubs, a slight wind in my face or a little uphill and if I was even thinking 6 or 7 iron I went with 6 iron. I learned about 80% of the time more club was a better choice and with a front or middle pin the other 20% I had a reasonable putt from beyond the flag. When folks watch tour events they should notice Pro's are past the pin 50% of the time when they are not pin high.

gotta love sandbagging in scrambles. we played as a threesome today. played our ball down, putted everything out, and shot an honest 64. every group we saw out there was dropping extra balls, foot wedging, and drinking more than their fill our 64 wasn’t even good enough for 3rd place. some group came in at 59!!! man i really feel cheated out of my $100 in pro shop credit!

Happy to hear she's out ofd the hospital and in rehab. My advice to make sure that she is up and about as much as possible. My dad spent 2.5 months in rehab the first of the year after a fall. I couldn't get in the see him because of covid, and I don't think he was out off bed much except for his therapy and meals near the end of his stay. He ended up with bed sores that took a long time to heal. Keep her moving!!

    Got Problems?

If it was smacking as bad as you described in the first post, I'd advise not to hit balls. Maybe just lightly swing the club for exercise and to keep things loose, maybe some short chipping and putting, but these injuries take some time to heal. If you rush it and re-aggravate, it can set you back or make it even worse. My non-medical background, simply a fellow spy who has dealt with chronic shoulder pain, .02 cents... worth exactly what you paid for it.

  41. I don't think you find too many better character guys around than those 4. I mean the whole US Team seems pretty good in that regard, but those four and probably Tony Finau you can't ask for better sportsmanship or leadership. He's a bit under the radar of the others as he hasn't won a major, but I'm really excited to see what Scheffler does the next 5 to 10 years. I think he will have a great career and possibly win multiple majors. Had what 3 Top 10 finishes this year in the majors. The only reason I say possible, is look who he's competing against, Morikawa, Spieth, JT, Zalatoris Bryson, Brooks etc. Those guys could all "steal" majors from each other. Definitely an exciting time for US Golf right now.

Had probably the best driving day I've ever had yesterday. I was gripping down about 1.5" on the driver and was just killing it. No wild left or rights, it was either in the fairway or just in the "first cut". Averaged 268 off the tee yesterday compared to 255 for the season. Almost everything else stunk, so I end the day with a 92. The new @GolfSub70 005 putter is impressing me so far. It's a great lag putter from 1,000 miles away.
