Played a scramble today for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. This is a 2-day event in Rochester which draws hundreds of players. It's often just a death march but the cause is phenomenal. I was lost off the tee and hit some decent irons. Made up for it with my short game today which included a hole out from 30 yards for eagle and knocked in a few putts over 10 feet. The good news was, My final two long irons were solid...a good omen headed into the next round. We shot 59 and for the first time since I've ever played, we won the event. Didn't think we could pull it off after 4 straight pars to start (which included a missed birdie from 3') but 2 eagles were good enough.

Finally got my first round of the year in! 9 holes with my son and brother. We all had a good time too. Told myself I was going to relax and enjoy it as there’s been a lot of business and stress the past few weeks between work and trying move. Focused on having good tempo and took an extra club into a lot of greens…. Very satisfied with the results! I didn’t putt particularly well, which didn’t lead to any 3-putts, but I missed 1 or two I think I could have had with a good stroke. Despite shooting a 1 under 32 (one birdie, 8 pars) the day belonged to Jackson. He had a blast and was excited to get back out there. He also “beat” my brother by 1 stroke, but I think Jackson might have forgotten a swing or two. No really long drives, but two were 260 on the nose and another 253. All were night high flights, and the last few were gentle draws. Nothing to complain about there. The last drive was 234, I tried to hit a little cut into a short par 4 and just went a bit too far right in the rough, but was at the front of the green. Jackson had the best drive of the day… 134ish yards! I had another really good round on Sunday. I feel like the pieces are starting to come together. My ball striking was really good, as I was releasing the club better. I put a new putter in the bag, and it was the Mizuno OMOI and it was much heavier than my old Ping Anser. My short game really struggled, but it still turned out to be a good score. I messed myself up on 17, I counted my score and if I finished at par I would break 80. I bogeyed 17 from middle of fairway 90 yards out. I made par on 18, but very happy with where my swing is at the moment. Score: 80 Fir: 9/ 14 GIR 6/18 Putts: 32

Day Two, same course. Some days you get the bear, and some days the bear eats all your golfballs. Before starting out I dropped by the resort’s gift store and found a bin full of used golfballs, six for $7, presumably found among the tall grass, creeks and ponds. I felt a little better knowing I wasn’t the only one losing balls in the course. Then, judging by the age of some of the brands and models, I realized that the shop was making easy money finding and selling the same lost balls over and over again. My game was marginally better, the shanks left me, and once I admitted to myself that I’m used to playing with wider and straighter fairways, shorter roughs and zero water hazards, I relaxed and just enjoyed the good weather and scenery. After all, I walked the afternoon with deer, geese, a hare and a heron. Lesson learned The next time I play an unfamiliar coastal course that works hard to blend in with the next-door wildlife preserve, I’ll bring my own bag of old, cheap ionomer balls and leave the urethanes at home.

Played on Saturday at my local course, went 37/39 for a 76 (+5) First hole was the best hole of the day. Plays downhill, and bombed the drive 294 next to the green side bunker, pitch was not great, but poured in the birdie putt. Lost a ball on the second, but we can skip that. Hit the par 5 5th in 2 for the first time in a while for a second birdie. Silly green side play, cost the even par front 9. Driver was hot on the front with my shortest shot being 253, but hitting driver of 294, 253, 256, 284, 284. Lost the diver a bit on the back for a few holes leading to a 3 hole bogie stretch having to play from the trees. I was very pleased with approach play today, my worst area traditionally. I found myself taking enough club, getting some better shaft lean that I had been missing, even went long on a couple holes, and only missed 12% short (none short on approaches longer than 200 according to Shot Scope). A couple of meh shots from 90 years probably kept my strokes gained from being an all time high. Looking to keep this up and I know even lower scores will come. Overall solid start to the season this year. Now if only the black flies in my yard would stop trying to carry me away so I could practice a bit more a home.

81 in the Saturday Skins game, best round of the year, but so disappointing. Made 4 birdies, could have made 6 or 7 if I'm honest, dropped massive putts, 28 total... had two lost ball doubles and a pick up triple... 81. Just complete pull hook city costing me strokes, so I'm back to old familiar, my Mizuno ST180 for the next bit. With a tournament coming up and no chance I'm buying from DDC, it seems the right play for the season You've never seen someone so mad to win 12 dollars in a 50 cent skin game.

A pitiful round today that end up with the same score as yesterday... 84. I'm just not hitting the ball well; I don't have any strength and my back hurts when I make a full rotation through the ball... so often I don't and the ball drifts right. Couple that with poor chipping and mediocre putting, I'm making too many bogeys and not enough par saves. The one good thing today was that at 77º, it was a shorts and polo shirt day. Warm weather is here!!

Unremarkable 43 over nine holes yesterday morning but finally got on the right track again for this morning's 18: - 38/40 = 78 (+6) - 8/15 FIR - 8/18 GIR (3 birdies) - 29 Putts (12 2-putts, 7 1-putts) Finally figured out how to get rid of the hooks that have been plaguing my early season. Driver was very good for most of the round. I had two bad double bogies on the back nine, but managed to stuff a wedge to two feet on 17 for my third (and very rare for the hole) birdie. Just need to clean up the big numbers and something around even par should be in the future.

Was sitting on the couch last night with my wife doing my normal Sunday evening thing of seeing what my week looked like & trying to see where to wedge 18 holes in. Later in the week looked terrible so I figured I'd see what I might find for today. Hop on the LA City Golf, check times. See 6:20 AM Rancho park. Immediately look over to my wife & ask as nicely as possible what her morning looks like and if she can take our daughter to school. The sound of 'Y' was barely out of her mouth before I clicked to book hoping that it had not disappeared in the 10 seconds it took me to ask the question. (Those of you in LA will understand how cutthroat Rancho times are). Cut to this morning, I'm so glad I played. 41/39 80 with a lipped out birdie on 18, a really really dumb three putt bogey on 10 , and lots of very close almost up and downs. It's still my personal best both score wise and differential (8.5) and its far and away the most complete round of golf I've ever played. I was focused, sharp, and made mostly good decisions. (I cannot recommend Decade foundations enough.) I hit 12/14 fairways 8/18 GIR and recorded my first card in a while without a double. I'll give a lot of credit to a suggestion from my instructor to positively reinforce before nervy (& all shots). Told myself I was going to make solid smooth contact with any easy swing before every shot and mostly did. The capper to the round was one of my playing partners being absolutely shocked that I wasn't a single digit cap, and saying it was really fun watching me play when we walked off 18. Never had that happen before.

Well I did it, I bought the Mizuno OMOI 2 black putter!! Happy birthday to me! I tested it against Scotty Cameron Newport 2, COBRA Grandsport 35, and Odyssey Tri-Hot 5k. Did not get along with Scotty, and I really liked the Cobra. In the end it came down to Odyssey and Mizuno, with the Mizuno being the one.

I was -1 through 8…… then a double happened. should have quit then, but I finished out the round… carded a 10… on a hole that I normally don’t have problems with. 81 final… oh what could have been…

Similar thing happened to my wife and I today - it was a really nice day and I expected the course to be busy, but... We think we're getting ready to take the tee and a group of four young guys walk on and say, It's our turn. Fine, no prob, go ahead. Wellll...... We wait. One guy hits. We wait and watch. Another guy hits. Another wait. Rinse and repeat. Now these tee shots did not go very far. Nor very straight. They're all in carts and driving back and forth looking for balls .. back and forth .. then there's some walking around .. then one by one very slowly there are some second shots... Which did not go very far. Nor very straight. We watch for a few more minutes .. wondering if they might acknowledge us and wave us through? Nope. Finally I'm getting edgy enough and look at my watch - it's *FIFTEEN* yes One-Five minutes since they'd started to tee off, and .. they're still only about halfway up Hole #1....... And then ... And then ... Two really ancient gents - I mean God bless 'em they're still out and golfing but they were literally leaning on each for support - then these two old coots amble over to tee off......... "Honey .. let's take a break and get a beer."

Been up since 4:30, my wife woke me up thinking we might have to take our pug to the emergency vet because she was panting more than normal and was scratching herself constantly. She does have allergies that we take her in to get shots for and we also give her Benadryl. She finally settled down around 5:30 and didn't seem to be in any pain, so my sister-in-law is going to take her to the vet tomorrow and see what's going on. She's been good throughout the rest of the day.

Played Saturday and today. Yesterday I hit the ball well off the tee but just landed many times in the rough a few feet off the fairway. The rough was incredibly thick and difficult to get out of with any solid contact. Irons were iffy on the front 9 but got hot on the back. Putter was rough the whole day. Early returns in the Scotty switch were terrible. 48 on the front and 43 on the back. I left so many strokes in the sides out. One birdie the whole day on the par 3 17 which played 215. It was a fantastic shot. Still need to work on my alignment to my target, I am having a problem with over swinging and “chickenwinging”. today was a different tale, right out of the gate I knew I had to hit fairways, 12/14 for the day. The first 3 holes though I had 8 putts with 6 on the first 2 holes from inside 15 feet. In general I believe I should have walked away with 3 pars but started off +3. I tried to be too perfect the rest of the day especially with my irons. I tried to hit everything right to the pin because my putting was so awful. 51 putts for the day. Lag putting and putts inside 5 feet were not kind to me. I’ve never burned so many edges in one round. Towards the end before fatigue set in I did start hitting my irons better, I really had the idea at the top of my swing to keep the elbow in, I finished with good results. Really solid strikes and positioning into greens. However I had 2 triples on the back, I could never get much going the whole day. 47 on the front and the back. With such a bad weekend I think the Scotty is going back in storage for the trusty Spider to return. Too hot so many fairways today without results was disheartening especially with the distance off the tee being close to 270. Going to work on irons and putting before getting back out.

This game is crazy!! Played one of the biggest roller coaster rounds ever on Saturday. 3 3 putts, 2 balls OB, 5 birdies and shot 75. Not a single birdie on a par 5, which for me is unheard of. All 3 putts were after being on par 5's in 2. Sunday was a little more flatline 3 birdies 2 bogeys but 2 stupid doubles and another 75.

We played 18 at River Heights today. Lot of highs and lows for this one. Four pars and even a birdie! Also two quad bogeys. Six 3 putts, but also seven 1 putts including two beyond 30 feet. They're letting the rough grow out a bit and I was really having trouble getting a club through the taller grass. Whereas last year I would slice my driver to the next fairway, now I'm just offline enough to miss into the rough so I'm actually penalized more for being more accurate, lol. Couldn't hit my 3 wood to save my life today but my irons were starting to come around. All in all another work in progress. 53/47 to hit 100 on the nose.

Had several great ones this morning before work but this one takes the cake: Easily goes down as one of my longest ever. Middled it and hit a beautiful cut to the right side of the fairway on a par 5. I've gone for this par 5 in two four times already this season and can't recall doing that more than once or twice last year. Moreover, each time I've taken less and less club. Started with hybrid, then utility, then 5 iron and today my 6 iron finished hole-high in the left bunker.

Well I found out the hard way that doing yard work every day for two weeks straight after work and all day on Saturday's wasn't good for my golf game. I parred the first hole with a one putt. Then 4 bogies in a row then parred out the front 9. Back 9 was a little better with three bogies and a birdie. My highest round in a long time with a 77. Poor driver performance today. I only hit 2 fairways on the front and 4 on the back. I know it was just me being all sore and stiff. Went to the range after my round and worked out my driver issues. Felt much better after the range work.

First shot of the day, thankfully it was not quite all downhill from there, but it didn't get better than this. Ties my longest ever, but first tee this was great and made the birdie which is always a nice touch. Though the 3 wood to 20 ft on the first par 5 was solid too, but its all about the long ball right?

I had two yesterday. The first was a chip in from a missed long left approach on a par 5. Landed on the fringe and found the bottom of the hole. First eagle of the day. The shot of the day though was on 16 in our scramble we had 223 to a front pin. 3rd guy hit a gorgeous 3w to 6’ I chose a 3 iron and hit mine to 4’ Didnt mean to steal his thunder but we all agreed, the eagle 3 felt great.

A wise choice... that might have been the old guys' last round... ever! Very nice of you!

I wore a pair of baby blue shorts and a pink shirt to go play golf in last week. As I'm walking out the door my wife said. "Where are you going to a baby reveal party at the course" Not to be outdone I quickly replied. "You better hope it's a girl because I have to take the wrong color off"

I played my worst round in years but was so glad to be back on the course with my dad. Especially seeing that eagle! We knew it was good but it was a severely elevated green and we had no idea it was in the hole until we went to look. Such a great day of golf!

We're heading back north in another week so had to make a last stop at the Sarasota PGA Superstore since it's only 30 min away. Wife immediately went to the discount rack for clothes - I on the other hand was looking for a 3 wood. An even though lefty stuff is scarce, I found what I was looking for. LTDx with a Smoke iM10 shaft. Wonder how they knew it was on my wish list. However, I did keep going back and forth between it and the Radspeed 3 Wood with a Tensi shaft, but my wife encouraged me to spend the extra $$ for the LTDx. I love shopping with her. As an added +, it came with a lamkin grip instead of the std ARRCOS grip so I can immediately install a Shotscope sensor and not wait til I install my MCC+4.

Hosted my annual Buddy Trip last week(Thur-Sun) for 16 players, including me. I rented 4 4 bedroom houses and we played a different course every day. Thursday…North Shore GC. Shot 88…always a great course. Friday…Stonegate at Sola Vita-Cypress course. Shot 91…disappointed with course conditions We also played the Oaks course front 9 twice as a team scramble…lotta fun. Saturday…Falcon’s Fire GC. Shot 92….awesome course Sunday…Hawk’s Landing GC. Shot 92…somewhat disappointed as the fairways used to be covered with grass. Overall, we had terrific weather and all had a great time except for one player. He was driving back to the rental houses Thursday afternoon and was sideswiped by an Audi on the turnpike. His car was totaled and the Audi drove off never stopping. Sore and bruised, he did play Sat & Sun but could not turn to hit his driver…

Unloaded my Arccos sensors and link. Loved the data, but now that I’ve been using it for two years I don’t really have use for it. I’m not playing competitively and I’m not getting lessons so why do I need more data? Will be nice not have to edit shots during or after a round. I can just play golf now. I ended up getting a lightly used Bushnell Phantom 2 to meet my GPS needs. Front middle back numbers. That’s all I wanted.

I held off for quite a while... Then the dam broke and bought new irons, wedges, electric cart, net return and hitting surface.... RCT golf balls... I still need a bag and my 3 wood is 4 or 5 years old...

Well I did it. I pulled the trigger last night on Shot Scope V3 Black w/ 16 trackers. Can't wait until it arrives. Thanks again to EVERYONE that has posted here both positive and negative. I was able to get a lot of insight into the different tracker systems and GPS devices on MGS and was ultimately swayed by the users in this group. Looking forward to my first round with the system to see how it goes.

... I quite literally feel your pain. I came down with a really bad sinus infection after flying 5 hours to and from Brooklyn and shooting an infomercial with a 3 hour time difference. I have not played golf in 13 days and that is the longest layoff I have had since moving to Phoenix. Finally feeling better and playing tomorrow with low expectations as I have lost some strength after doing nothing but sleeping and resting for 2 weeks. Btw my car registered 106* yesterday when I went to Whole Foods and my first time out of the house.

Got out to play today with my son @Josh Ross. It was my first round in almost a year and a half due to some health issues. Managed a few pars, hit the ball the best I have in years, and even holed out from 100 yards for eagle on the last hole. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

2 Hybrid off the deck 242 yards… had it released it would have been off the left side of the green and longer than my drive, it actually backed up a foot with the mushy fairways. I cropped out the score because it is incorrect and I don’t feel like editing it. This is a par 5.

My wife has been off work since the beginning of May with a still undetermined issue that is causing her pain and numbness from the left side of her shoulder through the left arm. They did a nerve conduction study and there was some thoughts around the c6-c7 area, but we haven't heard anything certain yet. She has her next appointment with her regular doctor on Wednesday, so I wouldn't be surprised if an MRI is in her near future. It's been a mess at home as a result.

And the 8, and the 7, and the 6 .... yep, there goes the entire set of T300's that were not supposed to come out of the bag. Told you! HAHAHA!

Ha ha, 12 was another story. That's when the wheels were coming off. Not a bad drive but it probably went as high as it did far so I didn't get any roll out. I was lucky if I got 260 out of it. I did have a pretty pristine lie so was able to capitalize on a monster 3 wood that went just as far as my driver and put me within about 20 feet of the green. I will say that on #5 I gave in to peer pressure. Instead of playing a layup 6i I challenged the bunker gods and ended up driving through the green to end up on the back left rough on the pin side of the hole. Played my chip within 5' and made the putt for birdie. I've been playing in AZ for 25 years and have never had the heat impact me like yesterday. It wasn't even THAT hot at 104°. Was up all night with horrible leg cramps and stomach problems. I'm realizing now that I had a stomach bug coming on while I was playing so that might be why I was physically struggling so much half way through.

... Killer drive on #9*! Right there with you and I love Raven. Funny when I first moved here I was not too crazy about the course because as you said, it is not very typical of a desert course and looks more like North Carolina with all the pine trees. Then I experienced my first summer with temps in the 110-115 range. I join as an Arcis member for the summer because it is so heavily tree lined and I can park my cart in the shade on almost every shot. As you know when it gets above 110* shade is a must if you don't want to keep a icy wet towel to place over your seat every time you leave the cart. Winter rates above $200 are reduced to $29 in summer with the Arcis card. * How far did you hit your drive on #12? Even I can catch the downslope and sometimes have an iron to get there in two but I am nowhere near as long as you. The only time I have seen 354yds on #9 is when I hit it in the trees off the tee and punched out down the fairway!

Played Windswept Dunes yesterday while at the beach down here in Florida with my dad and bro in law. Weather was perfect in the high 70s and sunny. I decided to challenge myself and play the tournament tees at 7300 yards. I shot a 78 with a double, some bogies, and a birdie. I had my driver working and some really nice up and downs to help my goal of breaking 80. My double consisted of a plugged ball into the side of a bunker. This was one of the worst I’ve ever seen as I could only see 5-6 dimples of the ball and the letter S from Snell. Avoided disaster by hacking at it and getting it to fall into the bottom of the trap. I highly suggest playing Windswept Dunes if you’re in the Destin/Panama City area in Florida. I know golf is expensive at the beach, but this course is a little bit of a hidden gem to me. Not on the beach, but still has that beachy vibe. 7 tee boxes to pick from, challenging green complexes, and unique course layout. Alright I’m done, back to the beach.

Yesterday was a long, hot day. We started with a twosome in front of us that had a fivesome in front of them. We should have asked for our money back and went home... hindsight and all.. The fivesome was incredibly slow; the twosome was incredibly bad. They were everywhere off the tee... couldn't get to a green in less than 4 shots each and probably 3-5 putted every hole. I know people have to learn how to play, but pick some time other than prime time weekends to do it! Anyway... I shot 39 on the front. At the turn (after 2.5 hours) we figured more beer was going to be needed for the back. We were right! We waited no less than 10 - 15 minutes on every hole. The beer didn't last long. I ended the back with a 44... after 3 hrs. 15 min. Not a terrible score considering, but I don't understand how my brother and I always seem to have these people in front of us instead of behind us. The twosome offered to let us play through, but we would have had to wait on the fivesome anyway. So, we just drank beer and waited. It was an enjoyable day, really... just loooong! I don't understand why courses will let a fivesome out on a busy weekend. Oh well.... I hope next week is better. It almost has to be...right?

I received these yesterday and hit the range with them today. They will get their first real test tomorrow morning.

Don't worry she won't know you are in "going back" mode. All she heard when you went through the initial purchase rationalization with her was blah blah blah new club, blah blah blah. I doubt she will be able to identify it as having been in your bag previously.

Ventus blue hybrid from Bort. Honeymoon was good in the super but couldn’t keep up with ball speed compared to the pro orange. Likely due to flex. Ventus blue driver traded for a Ventus black 6x. Rdx blue 70g driver shaft. Offloaded some old clubs my dad gave me: Burner draw driver, Tp burner rescue. Also sold my Corza ghost putter as I got a silly deal on a Scotty phantom x5 (am I right @twyatt700and @dlow206). One thing I somewhat regret selling last year was my PXG gen2 0311x DI and maybe my EF threewood. I tried the DI in the winter months here and never gave it a fair shake when it got dry out. In the end I guess it wasn’t bad because the trade sequence was PxgDI—>Scotty Detour—>SIK DW—>Epic max Ls driver. I also thought the super would be my savior, I guess it still can be, but I haven’t reached a green in two yet like I did a couple times with my EF SZ 3w. So the super might be sold soon but finding a way to tell my wife why I am going back to a club I said I can’t hit will be interesting.

Picked up an inexpensive used Tectectec rangefinder because I'm terrified I'll lose this one too!
