  1. Took this straight from the box to the course and got so excited, I forgot to shoot the pics before hitting a few. Man I love the flight on this thing. It’s so high it looks like some drives I see on tour, except they are more like 220 than 320 GEN 5 0811 10.5 with Diamana S+ 60g with the 7.5 B 2.5 H 2.5 T sorry about that top picture, I will have to retake it, meant to blur out only the background. Better keep my day job. Ha

  3. Continuing to battle a crazy work schedule, so a couple of mostly unremarkable nines to start my week instead of 18. I nabbed an eagle on the short par 4 on the back nine at home on Tuesday - 245ish-yard uphill Super Hybrid to 10 feet and drained the putt. I did get away today for a charity four-person scramble. We ended up -8 playing without any of the optional "cheats" that we could have purchased. If we had sunk $60 into things we probably would have ended up -14 or so. Based on the early scores that came in before we left -8 was probably middle of the pack. Good and bad to the round. The good was that my driver finally came around. Made a small tweak to my setup after a miserable couple of opening holes and started pounding beautiful straight/slight fades on command 280+ total, with the best I figure coming closer to 295. The bad, and I hate to admit this, is that I was the guy who hit up into the group in front of us. I HATE that. Unfamiliar course, shorter par 4, and I piped a dead straight, long drive that landed very close to where the group in front of us was parked near the green. I should have trusted the number I had on the GPS and waited. Felt awful... and profusely apologized. Still bugs me though.

  4. A year ago I wanted a new driver, and the Callaway Epic Max with the Cypher shaft had the best numbers. Then a couple of months ago I was wanting to replace my 17º 2H. Tried several clubs and ended up with the Callaway Heavenwood with the same shaft as my driver; loved it. So easy to hit, that I thought I could manage the 3W... ordered it, and Yes, I can!! Well, that left me with my old 4H looking rather odd next to those lovely fairway woods. I only had one choice now... completely revamp the top of my bag!! I have the 9W on the way. This is the first time since my very first bag that I won't be carrying a hybrid.

  5. Well, I said I wasn't going to post here until after the 2022 MGS PNW meetup later this month... My wife and her brother from Seattle and I played with a off-duty fireman. Couldn't read the greens today. Shot 81 with 2 missed 3 footers for par... one would have been a sandy par. No doubles!!

  6. ... If I am on the green of a par 5 and a ball rolls on while we are putting I just think "great shot." If it is bouncing past us or worse flying past us then there is a conversation to be had. Also if a ball rolls up on us at a drivable par 4 I like an apology and if it is a players first time the normal response is "No problem, thanks for letting us know" and 99% of the time they never come close to us again. ... I think you can let yourself off the hook.

  7. Well, the golf gods taketh away. Felt the game was trending in the right direction last week shooting a 1 over par 37 last week. This week, no bueno. Driver was great, center of the fairway on all the driving holes. What didn't work was the irons, wedges or putter. I kind of needed those to work to shoot a someone decent score, . Needless to say, shot a struggling 49 in league play. I'm going fishing... MDGolfHacker

  8. Like I said in a Patrick Reed thread one night---- I could care less if it had Mickey Mouse on them if I can hit them---- Of course lead tape can cover all that up. Heard the stupidest thing at a golf store yesterday--- A guy stated he was dropping TM because of DJ. I asked him if he was going to play vintage Macgregor Spalding or Wilson? I told him on that basis lets see Phil was a Cally Man--- Westy was a Ping man------ Bryson and Fowler Cobra. I told him on that basis he could go with the vintage stuff or JDM and probably use Vice balls. He I think saw the foolishness of his thoughts and scowled and it may have been because everyone laughed that heard his statement and my comeback. I know he left in a hurry and the owner who is a friend of mine said "good one Stuey funny and true" Yeah I could care less about the politics of any player or equipment company for that matter.

  9. I agree on that. Like I said before I could care less who plays where or who does not play. I am not worked up over that in the least. I have been reading and commenting just for the enterainment value. And on something like this I like reading others thoughts and comments in a civilized manner like on here. Now do not get me wrong I do get fired up on some of the stuff happening in the world and our own nation but like the rules state this is not the place to air them and I agree. I do air my grievences on FB some and have had a couple of times in FB jail but mostly over there I stick to golf and racing related subjects anymore

  13. So in the last hour, PGA Tour suspended all those associated with LIV and will suspend anyone else who goes to play... LIV fires back calling the PGA Tour vindictive, and somewhere attorneys for both sides are just getting dollar signs in their eyes. What I wouldn't give to be a part of those legal teams right now.

  14. I was just thinking on this and I may be wrong. I have been here a few moons and I do not think I can ever remember a topic on here so hot that the Mods had to post it was being moderated. Which I think they have done a great job but then again so have my fellow members. It is a hot topic but pretty civil from what I have observed on here

  15. Nemesys is getting a little break AD DI 6X is in. My driver was getting a Little sloppy so I wanted to go with something that would bring the swing weight up a bit to see if that helped with my face control a bit more. Two initial range sessions are really promising. I knew I loved the shaft so it was an easy choice to make.

  16. Been wanting a center shafted putter for a while but they are very hard to find in store to demo. Ended up just ordering one. Odyssey Eleven Center Shafted with a stroke lab shaft and added a Super Stroke Pistol 1.0 with a 50g countercore. I may never miss a putt again.

  17. So funny you mention that. On today's episode of Fully Equipped, Chris McCormack from TrueSpec talked about that exact same thing, and actually gave me as an example...ok, not me personally but my swing profile. He talked about guy in his 60's who had a moderate (86 mph) swing speed with driver but had a very quick jerky move from the top. The guy had a senior shaft that he had been "fit" into. He was overpowering it and releasing it too early. Chirs put him in 60g Stiff flex and his strike point, dynamic loft and ball speed all improved dramatically. Picked up about 18 yards. But he couldn't believe he was hititng a Stiff, he thought it had to be wrong. Then of course they went into the non standardization of shaft specs across the industry. But yeah, goes to show it's more than just a single stat of swing speed or age that determines the shaft you should be playing.

  19. I’ll admit, I’m watching the event. I watch golf if it is on but don’t generally go out of my way to watch golf, even the majors. I also don’t root for specific players, I just watch the golf. So far it isn’t too bad and I probably couldn’t differentiate th golf from the golf played on any other tour. I kind of like the shotgun start aspect, everyone gets same weather conditions and the running score shows how many holes are left to play. I’d say the announcing, other than the tour hype type commentary isnt too bad. I think it is just American announcers that are terrible, Jerry Foltz is kind of annoying. The others give the event a European event feel. With the teams and draft and trades, it may require a little more attention than I am willing to do since I don’t get how it works across the season.

  25. I said this is the LIV thread, but any opposing tour I would be against. Not because of love for the PGA tour or its product, but I believe it muddys the waters and splits the talent of the game. However! If we see changes from the pga tour because of this then maybe long term it is a good thing to happen. Maybe it forces the PGA's hand to improve the product for players and viewers or potentially makes for a evolution of the game. The team format interests me and I believe if done properly could change the face of golf in a good way if done right. So regardless of what this tour was going to be, who funded it or who is playing I don't like it and won't. The players that have left I'm very meh on. The further players that are likely to go, well they may sting a bit more. I get why they are going, them being more upfront would be nicer to hear rather then the party lines which we all know are false.... not going down that road. I won't miss Reed, other then the Ryder Cup when he was 1 v 1 with Rory I just don't enjoy watching him. Most of the other players have had their time in the sun and makes sense for why they are leaving. Bryson regardless of if I like him or not is a big name. I'd argue bigger then DJ even with his history of Majors and winning on tour. Bryson brings eyes to the sport in a way Spieth does, which isn't nothing. He is so quirky and odd that it will without a doubt be more intriguing for people to tune in to watch him. Even if his personality isn't to everyones taste. In the end I do hope LIV dies off, however we are witnessing a huge moment in golf and the game will have likely be changed forever... for better? Maybe... for worse? TIme will tell, but we certainly are in for a lot more discussion and content either way.

  26. ... While it would be less egregious it is still biting the hand that fed you and for some, quite a few years at the trough. Some forget those that played for barely enough money to cover their travel expenses and not only prize money but being on the PGA Tour with all the TV coverage sponsors pay outs can be higher than what is earned on the course. All made possible by the PGA Tour. ... I am a lifelong union member from my days in radio with AFTRA to my years of acting with SAG. Like members of the PGA Tour, I am not permitted to work for a non union employer. Sure some have thrown cash at me and much more than I would make on a union job BUT no residuals, no health insurance or retirement contributions. I would add I have turned down work on network commercials that had/have policies I do not agree with on moral grounds. Also like the PGA Tour I have had issues with SAG-AFTRA but they gave me the ability to work for a nice living while providing health insurance and generous retirement benefits. So I have no tolerance for those taking everything the PGA Tour has given them, then whoring themselves out just for obscene amounts of money.

  28. I have and it was good for me. At the very least it narrows the field and saves a lot of time. One of my top 3 matches felt awful, fitter told me that shaft was either love or hate. Next 2 were very close, consistency won the day. Interestingly, the 2 options were PX LZ 5.5 (probably firmish regular) and Nippon NS Pro Modus 105 in XS. Weight of these 2 is almost identical. I’m very happy with the LZ 5.5’s

  30. ... Good point, I do and I knew rain was scarce. When I spent the winter out here in 2019 it rained maybe 4 times between Jan-May. Two winters ago a few times but zero this fall-winter-spring is surprising. At least Monsoon season is predicted to be average to above average for rainfall this summer.

  31. Not going to lie this is a rip off a thread I found on another forum, but felt the discussion was good to bring over here. Given everything that is going on and the likelihood of changes coming in the future to the PGA Tour let us take the chance to field our opinions and what we would do to change the PGA Tour in the future. Whether it be for fan experience, the tour players themselves, formats, schedules or fields what would you change or modify to improve the future of the tour. I personally would like to see the Team aspect explored more. With this I'd go more in depth on a later post, but am looking forward to see how or what everyone else would change. Note: LIV golf discussion is best in its own thread. This topic is for the PGA future and references LIV is fine, but it should not fall into a compare to what is going on right now.

  32. Other note from watching it. Having the shotgun start, was really nice from the viewing standpoint. If I was a spectator going to the event, 5 hours onsite to watch the whole event is a lot better then 9+ hours if you want to watch at a normal pga event. I did like that.

  33. The is an individual component and a team component. Individual is easy. Team scores are based on the two plaYers scores on Thursday and Friday and top thr on Saturday. It is shotgun start so essentially every player has played the same number of holes.

Another chance to break something I mean provide some useful feedback on a new platform, and I have just a gadget to write about, the Club Buddy in my signature block, and it is not going to be a product promotion as it is a what it is and possibly what it could be? ... not tipping my hand yet because it is not what I had anticipated "as advertised." 39. Brought this old friend out today and well, it was a convenient solution for the time being. The friendly flight I was always a fan of and in contrast, certainly rose to the occasion. I won’t be selling the SIM2 but I also won’t be playing it for a while. It may have been longer but the g400 ballflight was everything I missed. Tighter dispersion and it would climb and then just soar at a lovely altitude. I’d say explore other shafts to dial in the Ping but that g400 was the final edition of that particular shaft tip and I don’t want to mess around with that. So for the time being, this is taking the place of what I was thinking about.

  41. That's a sweet deal too. Cleveland is one of the areas where population isn't booming, but our population is shifting. Cleveland itself is a small city, but we have a very extensive suburban development that isn't like the majority of the US. We did have close to 20 courses close around 2018, and we lost 2 last year. One became an Amazon warehouse (a Stanley Thompson on top of it). The other was a course demolishing their old, poorly kept 18 to build a new 9 & add cluster homes. The other 18 at that course may be some of the nicest conditions in the area, so really looking forward to that new 9.
