    How'd you play?

Got in a pretty solid practice round today. I hit the ball well with only two bogies. The first one was on the second hole. This hole is a killer. First shot is 200 yards to center of the fairway and centered on the sharp dog leg left. Your now at the 150 yard marker but its three extra clubs uphill and guarded by two huge bunkers in the front with 2 yards between them. The green slopes from back to front. You don't want to be past the pin or be short. I wound up 6 feet past the pin. I missed the putt and now off the green. Coming back 12 feet It sat on the edge. Three putt. The other was on straight away hilly par 4. The tee shot starts from higher ground. Then it goes down hillI, then up, then down, then up to the green. I put my second shot up in the greenside trap and the sand was hard as a rock. The club bounced off the hard pan and wound up 25 feet past the pin. Missed that putt but had a tap in. I wish they would fix the traps. I wound up 2 over for the round. I'm fine with that. After the round I hit the range to sharpen the 6 iron, 5 hybrid, and 7 wood. I wanted to make sure I had them gapped correctly and knew their distances. Big round next week.

    How'd you play?

Started off great but ended in the toilet, shooting 42/47:89. Guess I got tired as I double bogeyed 4 of final 5 holes. Just stupid mistakes that could have been avoided.

    How'd you play?

Three nines over the past three days -> 39, 38, 41. Bad three-putt on No. 9 on the 39, and two lipped putts on the 41. Couple of birdies mixed in with a few double bogeys. I continue to kill my rounds with poor tee play, though it has gotten a little better it seems. Anxiously waiting for my lesson Wednesday as my full swing has generally been really poor. My short game and putting are just saving me right now. It feels like I'm making more putts and converting more up-and-downs than ever before. Back out this week for my first 18s in a few weeks. Hoping my scoring consistency continues.

    The Still Aceless Thread

Back to back par 3's, first one my buddy hit to the top of a bowl and rolled back towards the hole. It had a darn good chance, but by the time we crested the hill we saw it 3 feet to the left of the pin. The very next hole is also a par 3, and was playing about 190. I hit a laser beam right at the pin, and it landed and stuck right next to the hole, 3 feet away. We both flirted with exchanging membership cards, but both still part of the club!

    How'd you play?

Played Granada Golf Club today for the first time. Granada is a hilly course with a lot of holes on the back that can land you in trouble. Shot an 81. Doubled a par 5 from a poor decision that led to hitting my 2nd shot into the water. Drove the ball well, hitting 11 of 14 fairways, 8 GIR, but had 33 putts -- not chipping close enough and just flat out missing putts. Missed several birdies and a few par putts that were very makable but distance control on longer putts was very good.

  9. ... All I can say is at least I don't drink because perusing Ebay under the influence I would be in much more trouble than I am already. Wasn't actually planning on buying a Stealth driver but saw a bunch of "Head Only" in mint condition and put in a plethora of extremely low bids never expecting to win. But of course I did, didn't I?

    How'd you play?

Played our informal work scramble at River Heights yesterday with Owen, our buddy Kevin, and my dad. We played -2 on the front and +2 on the back. Kevin's an avid golfer but he and his wife bought a boat last summer so this was the first time he picked up a club this season. He also has two drivers and two 3 woods in his bag because he's always struggled with longer clubs. He helped with a few nice chips and putts. My dad played with us a couple times last year, which was the first time he'd swung a club in over ten years. He's pretty good but he's pretty beat up right now; he needs ankle surgery and another shoulder surgery. Unfortunately, he's the type that puts those things off as long as possible. He claimed otherwise, but I could tell he was in a lot of pain almost immediately. We actually took a few of his drives early on because they were short but dead center in the fairway every time. Owen carried us for the most part; more than half our shots were his. His short approach game wasn't good but his drives and long approaches were great. I really struggled with tempo again. When I made good connection I was rock solid but I was like Fulton Reed in the first Mighty Ducks: can only make one out of five. After a few good rounds my irons were starting to tug to the left again. The two times I tried to compensate for it I hit them dead straight. My putting was maddeningly close; too many times I had it read correctly just to end a ball rotation short or burn the edges. Almost feels better to miss badly, LOL. A lot of pin locations that were very close to the edge of the greens and it seems like no matter where it was, we were chipping from the short side. We were decent enough on the front but really faded on the back nine. On almost each of the last six holes we put ourselves in trouble and couldn't recover. But, a good time was (hopefully) had by all!

  12. After digesting this whole LIV Tour… I hate it. It is exactly what golf does not need. We don’t need louder, more pompous golf… all this does is open the door for the golf bro’s and their stupid antics on the course. Shut it down.

    How'd you play?

39-39: 78 (+7, net -2) 6/13 FIR, 11/18 GIR, 33 putts Had another really solid round this afternoon, was maybe my best all around 18 holes. Even with an unfortunate bounce that led to a triple on the front and a silly double on the back, I was able to knock it around really well. On top of that, there was a big money game that morning with most pins in tough spots, which makes me feel even better about the round. My buddy and I had back to back par 3's where he hit it to 3 feet, then I hit it to 3 feet on the next one. Definitely the highlight of the day! Was largely able to avoid trouble off the tee again, which is helpful to play well. Go figure haha. Was a really good time with a good friend who's visiting from out of town on top of it all, so a pretty near perfect day for this lucky guy!

  15. Next years PGA Tour is going to look much much different… I bet a record number of KFT players earn their “card”… kind of scary to think about. If I were the PGA Tour, I would have a team working on how to make it better… and fast. Real fast.

  20. Yeah. I’m trying hard to think of an excuse for misreading THV for APH.. maybe I’ll just let what everyone does and blame it on autocorrect. Ha

  21. Actually it’s not @GolfSpy_APH that has direct communication. It’s @GolfSpy_THV Jamie was just trying to help out after the original post. By giving an update as he knew. It’s mainly due to the fact the forum staff only administers the testings. We really don’t even know Whsts coming until often the day before the forum post goes up, even if they much. HQ has heard our desires and concerns—several times—but it appears it will remain the status quo for now. We truly don’t know what is in the works and when.

Not at the MGS PNW Outing in 2 weeks. Except for the round at my course, the par 3's are very challenging; one being a US Open local qualifying course. Another has a "12,000 sqft thing of beauty" with lots of undulations in it. Then there is always this one at Apple Tree GC...

    How'd you play?

We're just the opposite ... my strength right now is off the tee box, fairway metals and hybrids, and iron play ... my short game tends to be keeping me from scoring well. Although I'm putting fairly decently, they're longer putts that have a low percentage to make. We should team up for a scramble! LOL

  27. It didn't work for me! We had a company league at a real par three course. (100 up to 250 yard holes) Played it for a few years every week. It was 18 holes but we played 9 in the league. Many close encounters but never got to hear the the magic sound!

  31. I didn’t buy anything(this time) but I put my ZF 50X in an old Mizuno ST190 head and was smashing it slightly better than the tsi3/tr combo. It got me feeling nostalgic lol. If it outperforms the tsi3 tomorrow im gonna have to seriously think about putting it back in the bag for the 3rd or 4th time. Something about that head always seems to work for me. Don’t know why I keep going the shiny new route. Haha

I hear you man. We have been non-stop for seemingly months now. We need to find some time to get away, even for a hour. Maybe I’ll make a fire tonight and just enjoy the mosquitoes, and flies…. It just downpoured… that’s my favorite.

My wife and I took a trip to Fletcher Park, a 1.5 mile hiking trail located here in town that I'd never heard about until I was reading on a local Facebook group. They mentioned it had a Japanese garden and my wife was wanting to go to take some photos for background references for art. It was a beautiful, 83 degree day with enough shade and a nice breeze that made the walk pleasant. We both took some photos and had a fun time getting out in nature. Our next trip will be to the Enterprise South nature park that sits right beside my work. I've been there on a team building exercise, but she hasn't and I think she'll enjoy it.

    Cooking

Not sure if I mentioned this but my old griddle bit the dust a few weeks ago. It was a converted stainless steel Kenmore grill that a friend of mine (RIP Dave) made the griddle top for. I bought a new one yesterday. I did a bit of research and found that the Char Grill Flat Iron was a better deal than the Blackstone of the same size and it was quite a bit cheaper too. I seasoned it up and made skirt steak tacos with cilantro lime rice.

  41. Ive played the hamptons quite a few times and it is one the places I go practice putting and pitching. For personal rounds I usually play Royal New Kent, Vinaterra, Kiskiack, and Golden Horseshoe Green course. We play other places occasionally. My golf league plays the woodlands, sleepy hole, cypress creek, and riverfront. Generally I am willing to play most anywhere.

  42. Never said they were nobodies - but they are second tier at best when compared to the PGA field. So again - if this league is so great we’ll see when the names that are real draws jump over. If that even happens. Until then it’s all B listers in the grand scheme of things.

    The Still Aceless Thread

I was told I can't post in this thread, but I thought maybe this could give hope and incentive for you guys to "git 'er done". Do you remember a few weeks ago in the Random Thread, I posted that a concrete bench was stolen from the par 3 17th tee that commemorated the Ace by one of our members (a former pro) who was 91 years old. (The bench was recovered, repaired and replaced). Yesterday at 92 years old, he got another Ace on the par 3 #4 hole.
