I'm lucky that the time will fly by. Work is it's busiest time for me in July and August with being the only curling center open in Europe. That and dogs and golf will keep me busy. Will miss them like crazy of course, but it's been over a year and a half since she has been back to Canada and her family has yet to meet Ivan so definitely excited for them.13 points -
Continuing my little hot streak, hopefully this can become the norm. 39/40 -> 79/78 ESC on Thursday and 35/39 -> 74 this morning. Driver still showing some signs up perking up, today it didn't kill my score for the first time in a while. Two doubles this morning to go along with four birdies. If I could clean up those doubles, I'd be ecstatic.10 points

Played 9 yesterday; gonna go another 9 this afternoon. Tee shots were, umm, interesting - speaking of natural resources earlier, I seemed to be getting a little too friendly with the trees on the right side of the fairway 5/9 times! Four of those were blocked straight right, last hole was a bona fide slicearoo... Hey made good contact tho The other four tee shots were... #1 ok playable; #5 absolutely perfect for me could not have hit it better; #7 short Par 3 almost pin high about 15 feet or so right; #8 par 5 got it over the crest of the first hill into a decent position. So not all "bad". Wedges were .. naturally .. opposite of last round where I was running the ball by the hole. This time was trying to hit the ball with more trajectory and spin, and was mostly successful with that, but came up short a lot... ..a lot to keep working on! Including... my mental game... I definitely expect way too much out of myself - need to keep reminding myself that I'm just an average recreational golfer and mistakes DO happen! In fact just picked up a new book, "The Four Foundations Of Golf" (by Jon Sherman of Practical Golf), and the first part .. the first ¼ of the book .. is "Managing Expectations". So yeah digging right into that section!!7 points -

8 over 79 in 10-20 mph wind. Very even performance through the bag. Putted well apart from a couple of total misreads of pace. Had 3 extremely slick downhill putts finish a total of 1 foot from the hole. Misjudged the wind a couple of times ending in dropped shots, but I’d rather that than poor swings.6 points -

... Stupidity knows no limits. I have taken photo's of gators from a good 25 yds away when I was on the green/fairway and they were by the water. I have my picture so don't need more of them. But I have been paired up with some Darwin Award Winners that creep down near them, sometimes as close as 10 feet. The absolute dumbest is the guy that turns his back on the gator while his friend takes the picture.6 points -

Played my weekly round yesterday due to a family function commitment today. Got paired up with a father and son, son about 20 years old outfitted in full University of Michigan colors. I let them tee off first all day, kept same order off all tees. (Mistake number 1). I played well, only missed 2 fairways off the tee, I left and the other a push right. Temperature was 90 with high humidity, and course was backed up and playing very slow. Only greens missed were all long?????????? I don't know if it was because they would hit green and bounce off, ground was pretty firm or if I didn't factor in wind conditions. (Mistake number 2). Unfortunately, 2 putted every green, more due to green speed being a tad bit slower than normal for this course. (Mistake number 3). As I mentioned a while ago, been demoing a couple driver heads and shafts, played this round with the Titleist TSi2 9 degree head and Ventus TR 5S shaft. Still not convinced that the added height the TR shaft gives over the Ventus Black is correct for me. High flight window, but not much roll out. Best shots with this shaft compared to the Black are similar distance wise, maybe 5 yards difference total, but much different flight to get there. Shot 40 / 42 and the round took just under 6 hours to complete.5 points

Yep you are correct there---- Some of the courses on the South end the Rangers will warn people when gators are sighted and warn them. There are also Gator warning signs posted too. We were playing at Litchfield one day and the Ranger warned some Tourons in front of us about a Gator on the next hole. One of the Tourons being a jerk asked the Ranger if he warned us? The Ranger knew us and told the Jackwagon " they are locals and have enough sense to avoid them". A few years back we were playing The Witch which was known for Gators ( now closed more housing). There were 2 Gators out on a sand bar and these Tourons were attempting to hit wedges at them. We saw these idiots pulling brand new Pro Vs out of the sleeve. Now my bud said something to them and they arrogantly replied basically STFU and mind his own business. LOL they did not know. His wife at the time was a wheel in the County and State Humane Society and he was shooting it all on his cell phone. While waiting on them to play the hole he made a phone call to his wife and shot her the video. He told us to sit back that what was fixing to happen was worth the price of greens fees. After we made the turn (this was on #7) about the 13th hole the Pro with a County Cop on the cart came by us plus 2 more carts with cops and a DNR officer behind them. We were on 13 green and watched them being handcuffed arrested and escorted off the course. The did spend the rest of the weekend in jail because there are no Magistrates on duty for a bond hearing. My friend said a few weeks later they got high bonds being from out of state and when it went to court they were fined to the full extent of the Law. Yeah the State of SC takes its Wildlife Laws seriously. In fact the owner of that course and 2 other courses in the area was at the proceedings and took out a Tresspass warrant on all 4 of those guys for all his courses. In other words they were banned. Now the owner told this later on and I do not know how true it was. The judge also told them that legally he could not ban them from the state or beach but stated "we did not need or want people like them around our beaches"5 points -

... Well lets just say my original assessment that Yellow Ball is not a member of Mensa is proven once again. "It is not every day that you encounter a large bear on your local golf course and this golfer wanted to hole this putt before he was gobbled alive. Playing with a yellow ball, the player hit the perfect shot and he rolled it into the bottom of the cup. Throughout the footage, the bear remains unmoved." https://socalgolfer.org/watch-golfer-hits-a-long-putt-with-a-huge-bear-right-behind-him/?utm_source=newsletter06262022&utm_medium=newsletter06262022&utm_campaign=newsletter062620224 points -

Picked up this (available on Amazon)... Jon Sherman is the founder and author on Practical Golf; seems to post a lotta good info about playing the game of golf (ie. on course coaching, and not swing instruction). The first part of the book is all about "Managing Expectations" - which I really really need..... Then he goes into.. "Strategy", "Practice" (he also does a podcast with Adam Young) and "Mental Game". Lots of charts, tables, data, illustrations to help reinforce ideas. The whole thing looks very well produced and presented, and really looking forward to digging through it!4 points -

Played a course that I had not previously played today. Shot 38/42 for an 8 over par 80. Lost a golf ball on the back side (and we were pretty sure where it should have been (in play) -- just never found it). We had 3 foursomes playing this course today since the women had our course tied up with a tournament. As a twist to our betting game, we had 3 bets ($2 per bet). One bet was individual skins, one bet was total number of greens hit by the foursome for all 18 holes, and the last bet was a two hole glory hole totaling the best 3 gross scores for 2 designated holes. I had one birdie, but it didn't get a skin and we only had 3 skins total. My team won the greens bet. And it was a 3 way tie for the glory hole bet. So, I came out $2 bucks ahead for the bet.4 points -

That is crazy! And sad..... Years back I was windsurfing on the NC Coast (Cape Fear just south of Wilmington) putting stuff into my car and spotted what I took to be a younger gator ambling out of the marsh and right towards me - he was not huge but looked plenty big and hungry enough to me! - I jumped up and stood on the seat of the car and waited for him to continue to amble by and back towards the river marsh!!4 points -

Good lord you have no clue what are talking about. He went on his mass gain 3 seasons ago. His numbers are all over the internet for anyone to see. He gained speed and distance when he decided to add size. Whether you like it or not that’s fact. As a result the first year of that he gained 17 yards in avg distance and the year after he gained another yard+ Not to mention nearly every player on the pga tour commented about his distance and some like rory even tried to chase it. So yeah when you are wrong again you want to move on4 points -

It's been kind of a trying week here. Our cat Mr. Socksie ran up the stairs, let out a yowl, and it appeared he hurt his lower back. He was up and at it soon, but he did it again jumping up on a table. We took him to the vet and they didn't say much except they guessed he might be anemic. The next day he was worse, not eating like usual, and it was back to the vet for an overnight stay. They finally determined he has congestive heart failure and a heart murmur. We brought him home and still wasn't doing better, so yesterday I had to take him back for what we thought might be the last time. We were devastated, especially my wife because she's his person and she rescued him as a kitten fourteen years ago. I took him in and the doctor immediately realized he was low on electrolytes. He prescribed potassium, gave us food that we can give him through a syringe ( he doesn't have much of an appetite and hasn't ate in four days), and gave us medicine to clear fluid out of his lungs. He's doing better, we're still feeding him through the syringe but he's standing better and seems to be less exhausted than he was. We've got to take him back to get a scan of his heart and determine what treatment he needs.3 points -

Tonight's menu.. Brisket smoked tri-tip. Low and slow at 220° to 165° internal, then wrapped to 200°. Sliced thin and served with gravy or BBQ sauce. Should have a pretty intense smoke ring with a nice dark bark and a great rich beefy flavor. Pre-rub coating of yellow mustard, avocado oil mayo, Worcestershire, and spicy mustard. Rub is a base of kosher salt, Kinders, and my sweet pork BBQ rub from WinCo. Green Mountain Gold pellet blend has been my favorite so far. It's just mild enough to work for pork and chicken, but just bold enough for red meat. It's got a touch of sweet from the maple but a nice hickory finish. It's sweet corn season! We'll be doing smoked and charred with the sweet BBQ rub butter. Homemade bread and garlic/parmesan mashed potatoes will also be included! Finished product pics to come!3 points -
... I wish I knew someone in Law Enforcement I could have called. Played with two 30somethings last year at Starpass in Tucson and one pulled his tee shot almost hitting a huge Saguaro so then they decided to TRY and hit it with several balls until they did. After the first attempt I told them it was against the law and one replied "so are a lot of other fun things" We told them to go ahead of us and after several weak insults they did. We reported them to the ranger and he said without video evidence nothing he could do but he would talk to them. He catches up with us later and said they were "too polite" in denying everything and had no idea why we would lie or stop playing with them, which of course is pretty much an admission without being an admission. The guys in the video remind me of the two we played with: https://www.iheart.com/content/2020-12-07-golfer-takes-aim-at-protected-saguaro-cactus-in-viral-video/3 points

Yesterdays shootout was ok not real bad not real good as a team I was pretty pleased with myself. We only had a 3 man team so we did get an extra ball. Both of my partners I have played with before and are big hitters. Man both of them could not hit it in 3 fairways. I had to do my thing of throttling it back in the middle. Our greens were horrid and the only chance we had to make putts was to ram jam one we had several lipouts. Ended up at -3. I do not really know what won it because they wanted to do the awards outside because they were preparing the clubhouse for a wedding. I told my buds I was not sitting outside and it cooking with my one ticket to win a $5 towel or a cheap sleeve of golf balls. Besides the folks the wedding was for are members and friends of mine and I play quite a bit of golf with them. I went home to shower and rest because I did DJ for them at the party. The wedding was a blast and it is the first time I have done a DJ in like 10 years. i actually had a guy approach me and ask if I wanted to work his club? I told him no thanks as a norm I do not DJ or work sound anymore outside of Church. I made the one exception here because they are dear friends of mine and besides I did it willingly for free. As usual with any event at our club the food was outstanding. A guy who knows me tried to get me to do Karoke singing "Curtis Lowe" which I used to do but not in public since my cousin was killed. Then he tried to get me to do Strokin by Clarence Carter--- I told him as a Born Again Christian I do not sing stuff like that anymore. I can not really sing but I used to get by on those 2. LOL had to get a kid to help me with the computer because some did Lady Ga Ga and I know beans about that and some newer stuff. Now the oldies and beach music I could look it up ok. As usual fun in Stu's World3 points

... Grip evolution has been pretty interesting. When I first started almost every grip made had a reminder and when I found one of the few without one, the Tour Velvet Round, I switched and never went back as I have strong grip, worked the ball with different grip positions and always disliked reminder ribs. Then reminder grips from all OEMs started to fade away. Golf Pride simply bringing back the reminder but under the Marketing of Align is a little stroke of genius.3 points -

Well I decided to try it today and it actually didn’t play too bad. Had a couple snap hooks but I’m guessing that was more swing related. Gonna give it another go tomorrow and see what happens. I was playing a different course today so hard to get a read with distances. Tomorrow I play my normal course so should have a better read on it. The real surprise today was the P790’s. They felt so good and meet a nice middle ground between a super thin top line and the thicker 699 pros. The reminder strips were a bad idea. I have small hands and prefer to put grips on without any tape to help with size. That isn’t possible with the strips and it lets the air out. I will give it a few more rounds to see if I like the idea of them then will probably go the align route. Also not thrilled with the Z Star Diamonds. Prefer the AVX so will probably try to trade my 2+ dozen for some 2022 AVX’s.3 points -

There were lots of pictures taken yesterday, but none by me, lol. We started the day with a shotgun start at Canyon Lakes in Kennewick. I thought it was a very nice course. I played with Gavin and Kiran while Kenny, Bill and Martha were the group behind us and spent the day hitting golf balls into us. The weather was great, low 80s and no clouds with minimal wind. I finished bogey, bogey, double. Which was disappointing. Still, cared a 79 and had a fun time. After Canyon Lakes we grabbed some teriyaki for lunch. then Bill, Gavin and I met up at Pasco Golfland which is a 9 hole par 3 course. It was a very fun course, in surprisingly good condition. Then to see Kenny and Martha's house for happy hour and the site of Kenny's future swing bay. Dinner at a local sports bar to watch Gavin's hopes for an Avalanche Stanley Cup have to wait at least one more game. A drive to Walla Walla after dinner to switch hotels, and now I'm getting ready for Wine Valley. Today is a good day.3 points -

Hmmm. Maybe, but I'm not sure. A. As mentioned above, Yellow Ball was moving _away_ from the small, cute, cuddly happy looking bear. B. Thusly, while in transit away from said bear, Yellow Ball left his .. larger, much meatier and tastier .. human much closer to the bear .. ie. a much easier lunch target. So maybe not sooooo dumb, eh?2 points -
Okay so I finished the foundation program as well as the first assessment this morning. Not much gain but in an email to the Stack Sasho resonded by saying he would not have expected much given that I've been doing OverSpeed training for some time. He told me that he would expect a jump about halfway through my second program. The recommendation that the app came up with is "Full Speed Spectrum." I'm curious to hear what others have received as a recommendation and if you followed it or did something also. Given that the founder himself has recommended that I follow what the program spits out I'm going to do just that. Heading out for a vacation after the 4th. The stack is way easier to travel with that SuperSpeed was and it does not require as much space - just about any hotel gym will work. I'm going to take mine with.2 points
