  1. My goodness I despise this whole topic. They as individuals can choose what they want. We don't have to like it or agree with it, but our opinions are quite frankly not going to make a dent in what happens. Don't like it or like it, care or not care this thing is going forward. For all, feel free to state opinions as this is what the forum is for, both also recognize members are going to have theirs which may not line up with another members. That is okay. Added to the that the chance of anyone changing anyone's mind here is slim to none. Find a way to accept that and move on.

    How'd you play?

Today was my first round after the 4 day MGS PNW marathon this last week. I was pooped watching Bill walk every course and had to take a few days off. I played with my wife and her brother from Seattle, and I must say that I am very happy to be back on familiar greens. I had more 3-putts in those 4 days than I had all year at my home course. Shot 81; 44 on the front nine. A little slow start with a triple on #3 (bad tee shot) and bogeys on #5, 6, 7, and 8; 37 on the back nine; bogeys on #11 and 12 then all pars to finish. The greens were freshly mowed and still has remnants of the fine sand top dress; the ball rolled very well and faster than anywhere we played last week!!

Pretty Good Day despite the final score of 90 Had a Hole In One...My 2nd one, the first coming 3 years ago. I guess they are going to come to me late in life...ha Details are the brand new PXG Gen 5 0311 XP 9 iron from 129, it was a back pin so unfortunately I did see it drop, but I saw it take a bounce and land right near the flag stick. Funny thing, the two ohter guys in the group, both hit it to about 6 feet and would have had closest to the pins, if not for this. Both made birdie, so 3 of us played the hole in -4, pretty good! I had two bad holes ruin what would have been my lowest round of the year, and technically throw in a third one, If Ihad just made bogey on each of those I would have shot an 82 which would hae tied my best ever, which was also the round with my first Hole in One. Instead shot a somewhat disappointing 90 consideirn the way I hit it for 15 holes.

Had a very bad round today which I had to cut short. I was not hitting irons well at all and it got worse as the round went on. My dumba$$ forgot to do laundry and had no shorts to play in and I wanted to walk, so summer pants it was. Got to 90* and I was doing good on the front 9 with walking was a double bogey machine on the front. Hit the turn still felt ok but it got hot quick and I felt it. I went through a litter of water and two large gatorades. Hit 16 felt like crap walking up the hill and I started to feel nauseous, clue 1 I needed to stop. Finished 16 teed off of 17 a short par 3 and I couldn’t hit a ball to save my life and I started to feel worse. I may have started to stop sweating so I hauled ass to my truck and my head is killing me. I was going to shoot over 100 for the first time in over a year and I feel horrible. Note to self don’t wear pants in 90* heat and if I feel bad stop sooner.

  7. I truly wish I had any further update on anything to come. Potentially a tech device in the coming weeks, but unconfirmed. Considering we had been trending in the 26+ opportunities per season for several years this is a massive drop off. We knew to expect a dip in opportunities with the change, but were still led to believe it would be around 20. I'll admit I'm a little at a loss. We may be having a member Q&A (live on zoom) with HQ members based around Most Wanted Testing, however I don't believe member testing is on the schedule for that.. As a mod team we have expressed concerns over and over and over. Unfortunately they haven't yielded any change. Hopefully the missed opportunity is seen and changes are made to next season or the later half of this season. For me all I can really say is I'm sorry...

    How'd you play?

I'll preface today by saying I played really well. I just got in my own way a few times. 42/41 83. 71% FIR 51 % GIR 37 Putts... including 3 three putts, but also a 45' putt to save par on 18. 2 up and downs 10 Pars 3 doubles.... One of the doubles I deserved, shanked a shot behind a tree and was happy to walk away with a double. One was a bad three putt. The last one was just poor focus on approach. Both other three putts came on holes 1 and two and I just didn't have the speed right. Left myself some 6-8 footers to clean up. Those were my only sloppy holes. Everything else was clean, even the bogies. One of these days I'm going to get out of my own way and finally break 80. On a side note, I think I might have joined the Mizuno gang forever today. I just groove with these old MP60s. (They also look, feel, and sound amazing too.) They're perfect on the Modus 115s and I feel like I have total command with them. It's interesting, they're a club weaker loft wise compared to my 639 CBs, but only about 1/2 a club shorter in actual distance.

Tuesday I shot a 45/48:93 so so day, got tired on back nine. Today was different however, same course, different result. I shot a 46/41:87 with 4 GIRs in a row and Four Pars in a row! (#9-#12).

    How'd you play?

Yep, it was indeed! But I didn't get too excited as we knew all three had hit it close, and only two balls were on the green. One of the two was a yellow wihich I wasn't playing. So I knew I had a 50/50 chance. I knda wish I had a better reaction but I think I just said Bazinga when I saw it....ha.. But I don't know if I've ever seen a group go -4 on the same hole before.

    How'd you play?

So I'd like to say "Well" as in, "I played well" but it was more like "well ... wtf was that?!?!?!?" Could not hit a tee shot even if you'd held a gun to my head, and then let myself get demoralized about that so had trouble making solid second .. and third .. shots... Wasn't all horrible, though - had a nice up & down on the first hole (to save bogey), and then again on the next hole (another bogey). But after that things got even messier and even the wedges started arguing and fighting with me The one consistent good thing was putting, happily enough -- two 1 putts on those first two holes with the up & downs, then several good 2 putts with tap-in seconds, one more 1 putt on a Par 3 (another up & down for another bogey), and had one 3 putt where I just totally misread the first putt and the ball broke _away_ from the hole and kept running running running further away .. but hit a good second with good speed but ball tracked straight instead of breaking slightly right to left... So 16 putts for 9 holes .. happy with that .. and we won't talk about the total gross score!

So, Einstein is taking his morning stroll around heaven and meets someone, and asks aren’t you new here? And the guy replies yes, I am. Einstein asked what he did before on earth and the guy said he was a nuclear physicist. Einstein said that sounds like a very interesting job we will have to discuss it over lunch one day. The next day on his morning stroll Einstein meets someone else new and asked what that person did. The person replies he ran the nuclear medicine wing at John Hopkins hospital. Einstein said I’d love to hear all about your job and what was involved, we can discuss it over lunch one day. One the next stroll Einstein meets another new person and asked what he did for a job previously. The guy said he drove a garbage truck for the city for 32 years. Einstein said ROLL TIDE!

  14. Now factor in travel costs, taxes, the money he owes his caddy, any fees he owes his agent, accountant and/or lawyer. That $1million disappears rather quickly. If he brings the family along for any part of that the travel expenses go up even more.

  15. Went to the range, I am really focusing on my rotation. I really only hit 8 iron to get it engrained. I have the backswing and all the way to up at the top in a great position, but as I start the downswing I pull it out, which causes everything to go left. So I’m working on it moving down and holding the angle more, but mostly trying to get my rear shoulder through the ball and me facing target. I hit some really amazing shots, and I feel like I am so close to having a more consistent golf swing. I finished with some drivers working on the same thing, I’m not quite there but my last few were really good.

80 on my home course today -- one double, no birdies (shot to my course handicap). Didn't feel like I was hitting my driver as well as I have been again today. Not sure what's up with that. Putter was a bit better today, although I did miss a couple of makable putts, burning edges or lipping out. Shot of the day was 155 yard uphill sand shot with my 6 iron to about 12 feet below the pin (missed the birdie putt, but did tap in for par). Played our MGA weekly game of 2 best net from the foursome. We shot -20 and had first place until a 3some got their blind draw and eeked us out with a -21. We also played team skins -- 4 skins were claimed and my team took 2 of them. Our 15 handicap player had 2 birdies on stroke holes and shot 38 on the front side. The B player (6 handicap from the forward tees) shot a 75. Our D player didn't play all that well, but did manage to help us out on a few holes with strokes.

    How'd you play?

The wife and the kids have been up North in the UP this week(I am meeting them tonight) but with all the free time I have played 5 rounds in the last 6 days. I think I have found my limit as the last 27 holes or so have been filled with tired and sore swings. I typically practice a few times a week but never get to play this much. I will say my putting his gotten significantly better in this short spurt off feel alone but with that comes lots of lazy swings. I'd like to say 5 rounds in 6 days is too much but given the opportunity I would most certainly do it again.

  22. Exactly. No idea how much money goes out in expenses. All that and he still has to pay for his house and all related expenses, vehicles, whatever else the family needs. He’s been a pro for 25 years, so if we use the $26million stated earlier it’s just over $1million gross/year average. It’s not as much a some people think it is. Then factor in his age and that his earning potential on the pga tour is going to drop every year and he would probably need to play the champions tour to have some form of money coming in which means more time on the road and away from family. Now with live he’s probably going to get that $26million and possibly more for signing with them plus his earnings from no cut events, less time. Way from family and may not have to play the champions tour if he doesn’t want to. So even more time with the family

Sometimes the card does not tell the adventure involved---- I have had some good scores on the card but on face value it was an ugly round. And then it can be puzzling I felt I hit the ball good and could not score. One of the funniest rounds I ever had was in a Mini Tour event at a course right behind me. Had 9 birdies ( not in a row) in one round and shot an 80 had only one par that day and it was a chip in on a Par 3. LOL that kept me in the running on the side skins pot. Needless to say took most of both side skins pot in fact I won more that day than the winner did. Golf can be a fickle Biotch

  25. Exactly has to do with ones perspective in life. Both of us are retired drawing SS with me drawing SSDI. I would say our net worth is a smidge over 100K---- Our home is an 87 model Mobile home but it has been long paid for. In fact I paid cash for it in 98 when I bought it. Everything we own is paid for. Just have like insurance on the vehicles which are both paid for and utitlities. We do not live above our means but not really chintzy either. I am tight on some things but I see myself as practical. But yeah we are comfortable in our lifestyle and have no regrets. A lot of my practicality comes from my Grand Dad who lived and farmed during the Great Depression. I learned most of my mechanical skills from him and have the attitude in why throw it away when I can fix it? But like I said different folks have different tastes in life and that is where the money comes in

  27. Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have been mulling this over since my fitting last week. The bag will be different than what I thought, only because I am looking at the spin rates I was getting with the 620CB vs the T100S. Using the V1x last round out I saw a significant jump, and ballooning with using a higher spinning ball. With the CB vs the T100, there wasn’t a ballon, the trajectory was nearly the same but it was a few yards shorter. So I am going with: Driver: Rogue ST Triple Diamond 2H: PING G425 DI: TM UDI 2° Flat Irons: 3-PW 620CB (Project X LZ 6.5) 2° Flat Vokey: 52°, 56°, 60° (project X LZ 6.5) 2° Flat I will probably regret it, but i much preferred the CB off the face.

... It just amazes me how selfish some people are. You had a HIO 3 years ago and with soooooo many golfers suffering without one, you just grab a 2nd one like a thief in the night?!? I would add I think it is much harder to make 2 birdies on the same hole because you have to make the putt, something you were evidently afraid to attempt with your avalanche of HIO's.

Due to deed restrictions etc it can not ever be anything than a golf course. On the one incident I went to the majority owner on that and the other guy got his butt chewed. Yeah I had a talk with the Majority owner this morning and told him some things. On the greens they are somewhat improving. Yep they do listen to me. After talking to him I am staying because like you have picked up on they do listen to me. And those guys do not actually own the course they have a long term lease

Mizunos are great sticks. Sounds like you have them set up good for you with your shaft choice. Do not sweat the distance difference accuracy is the key here. Does not bother me one iota when someone says well I blew over such and such green with my PW. Ok cool I took my antique 8 iron and put it to 10 feet whats the point? Now right now with our bad greens and my streaky putting as of late we will not discuss the putt at this time. I have had people say to me "well if you had some Insert brand clubs you could have hit a wedge" Who cares ? I know what I can do with the 40 year old 8 iron. Hey I know guys that would hit like a 6 hybrid to the same accurate distance. I joke somewhat about the putter. One of my running partners says our crappy greens along with my expectaions of myself have gotten into my head; I did go to a neighboring course that has pretty decent greens Monday and practiced putting some and did ok. My partner called me last night and we talked about putting and he is a good putter himself. We think for both of us the crappy greens are getting in to both of our heads. We are signed up for the Shootout this Saturday. We both agreed if the greens have not improved any we may pull out of the Shootout after this week and play something somewhere else. Long story about our greens

  39. I really hope the reviews aren't going to be left to "wither on the vine" by HQ. Now half way through the year and 1 fairway review, 1 putter review and 1 wedge review. I know there has been an "explanation" given, but it really is a massive drop off compared to all the time I've been on the forum. I have real concerns that the entire forum might meet the same fate if HQ continues to have little interest in it.
