  1. So I didn't necessarily "buy" these but I did just recently get them. HUGE thanks to Cobra/Puma. I did own (still do) the predecessor to these. I received them as a gift a while back. Love these shoes! Well after about 6 or so months, the left shoe developed a tear in the heel. Last week I decided to email Cobra just for kicks. I sent them pics of the tear and let them know that I didn't have a receipt due to them being a gift. I also let them know that if they couldn't do anything about it I'd totally understand. Well being as awesome as they are, they sent me the updated shoe and told me to keep the other pair. Safe to say my shoe loyalties definitely lie with Puma. New kicks Previous are in the middle. They're practically new except for the tear which I was also able to find an adhesive patch for. Thanks Cobra/Puma!!

  2. Stingers incoming! Going to give the U505 a shot. Went with the 1 iron??? Same build as the T200 3- and 4-irons that have been treating me well -- Graphite Design Tour AD IZ-95X shaft. Goal was to swap out the 3w (really struggling with FW woods lately...). The T200 3i is 20°, and my options were 16° or 18° in U505, or 17° T200 - since it's a 3w replacement that's mostly going to be used off the tee anyway, 16° felt like the right play. Also picked up a handful of Golf Pride CPX grips -- my SuperSpeed grips started tearing up my hands, so wanted something soft for that, and just added a couple extra because I had some money left on a gift card. Used them for one session, and they are niiice, so I threw one on the U505 too. Maybe this will finally be the grip that gets me off the MCC (a few dollars cheaper than MCC too).

  7. ... Aside from the performance benefits, graphite iron shafts have been a lifesaver for minor injuries or tendonitis from over use. I have to think it would help younger players avoid those types of injuries and for older players that know the body doesn't recover like it did in our youth, it is a no brainer. Unfortunately steel iron shafts have become almost as expensive as graphite or so close in cost the difference is negligible.

  8. Yes, I had/have MMT 105TX wedge shafts in the Cobra MIMs. I really liked those shafts too, but the SteelFibers have a bit more feel for me and paired with the Hogans they are buttery. Very little wrist, elbow or shoulder pain this season, and that's even with beating 500+ balls per week in the winter off of a FiberBuilt mat.

  10. Doubt I will ever go back to steel in my irons. Such a worthwhile purchase, especially if you can get somewhere like TrueSpec to try a bunch of different options.

  11. Great cart. I have probably 1,000+ miles on it over four seasons and it's finally just starting to have a few minor issues. There's a support wire/cable that keeps the two wheel arms from opening beyond where they should and it finally snapped this year. Been meaning to fix it but it keeps on rolling. Definitely recommend some dry silicone lubricant on some of the moving parts (at least the ones you don't touch), and also keep the screws tight on the bag holders. Mine were pretty loose at the beginning of the season and a gentle tightening of the screws fixed it right up.

Got a few swings in before wrist started to hurt again, but it wasn’t the bad pain. Now this morning it’s not bad at all. Probably wait till next week to swing again, but feeling like this thing is healing itself up. I'm telling ya, getting old sux…

  14. ... While there are those out there trying to scam a company out of free stuff, the OEMs that understand excellent customer service develop customers for a lifetime become, as you said "my shoe loyalties definitely lie with Puma." Long story short I owned a Camero and 1 week after the warranty expired, the heater started leaking a corrosive fluid onto my passenger floorboard and burned a hole through the carpet before I knew it was happening. An obvious manufacturing defect but they said it was out of warranty and therefore I had to pay for the repair. I contacted Chevy and received the same response. One F#@^%g week! I had looked at a rotary engine Mazda RX 7 and just to see how they would handle it, I called the Mazda dealer and said I had the same corrosion problem with my RX7 but it was out of warranty by a month. They said no problem, bring it in and we will take care of the repair with no charge because it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I sold the Camero and bought an RX7.

  15. Still haven’t been able to get back for another lesson…instructor and his family had COVID. since I am forum testing the Shot Scope imam starting to capture some metrics. with 2 1/2 rounds captured, I don’t have a lot of data but starting to see trends. Need to work on approach shots and short game shots <25 yards. in general, contact is becoming much better with the irons - mostly center contact, very few fat shots, thin is my miss especially when I try to get a little extra out if a club, and I am struggling with a push. Scoring isn’t there but I think mentally I am trying to guide/finesse shots instead of just making a swing.

    How'd you play?

Got out yesterday at Windmill and played in 3.5 hours, which was a surprise. Shot a 43/42 85. Couldn't swing the driver on Sunday and yesterday I was hitting some great tee shots. My P Average for driver this year is 253 yards, for yesterday it was 279 with a FIR of 67% on the back.

Thanks for the advice guys. I feel like I'm improving at taking it one shot at a time, but I can't help but want to get there faster. I'm worlds better than I was 4 months ago, haven't melted down totally in a while and I don't tend to have multiple blowup holes in a row anymore. Seems like when I hit the next tee box I've found a way to put it behind me. I just seem to have a problem falling into that 'gotta get it back cycle' after a bad shot. I've just gotta pull myself out of that mindset mid hole.

  20. .. When I was a DJ in Chicago I took a job with an ex fellow employe in Ft Piece Fl for better wages, a 5 day work week and of course the ocean and warm weather. Got there and hated everything about it from the sleepy retirement community to the radio station. Worked one afternoon shift and turned around and drove back to Chicago. The RX7 was a ton of fun as I was in it several days and when I got back to Chicago just inside the city limits, I got a speeding ticket right where it drops from 65 to 55 and a speed trap. To his credit, the cop saw my car was packed with my stuff and when I told him I spent one day in FL and missed Chicago he said show up for court and he would make sure the ticket was thrown out. And he did. AS you know that rotary engine was so smooth it was easy to speed as it always felt like you weren't traveling that fast. Imagine I will have the same problem when my Genesis GV60 EV finally arrives going 0-60 in 4.8 seconds without a sound.

  21. Was doing some shaft testing in my driver. Swing kind of a mess so need to get back to grinding. I wanted to post because of the interesting thing that happened. When i do range practice, i stick an alignment rod about 15-20 ft in front of my line and try to start my ball over it or just to the right. Well, on one of my shots, i hit the stick. I hit it so square, it came out of the ground, tumbled in the air about 30 yards, and like a javelin, stuck in the ground. I wish i would have gotten it on tape.

  22. In my single years, my roommate had an RX7. I drove a 4x4 so we'd always swap cars. What a fun ride! And kudos to Mazda for sure! I had an issue with a cobra driver a few years back and it was no different. No back and forth, no haggling, no hassle at all. They sent me a driver head 2 years newer. Because of the way they handle business, there will forever be a space for a cobra club in my bag.

    How'd you play?

What I have to remind myself is that everyone hits a bad shot now and then. The trick is not to let the bad shot control your mindset. Give yourself 5-10 seconds to berate yourself (if you must), then let it go. I play with a guy that can play decent golf, but he is so hard on himself that he's literally a self-fulfilling prophecy. He carries that bad shot for several holes and then is still talking about it over a beer after the round. You can't do that! I heard a phrase and I can't recall who it came from but it went something like this: "It wasn't the double bogey that ruined your score. It was thinking about that double bogey for the next 5 holes that ruined it." Ya gotta let it go, bro! I find that when I have a bad shot or a bad hole, I perform best if I just forget it happened rather than trying to force a birdie to make up for it and just play the next shot. I know that sounds trite, but it is true. The last shot is no longer important. The one you're hitting next is the only one that should matter.

  28. I have a similar issue, and it happens in both driver and irons. My worst shot with my driver is a high, short push fade that is caused by dropping my right shoulder in the downswing in a effort to hit the ball a little higher for more distance... usually when downwind. To a lesser extend that happens with an iron when trying "to get a little extra" out of it. As long as I just make a normal swing, I don't hit thin shots.

  30. Thank you both, I think anyone that was seriously interested would have popped up by now. But I'm sure there will be the opporutnity while they are there if someone wants to jump in and take someone elses spot, then that'd be fine. There is absolutely zero pressure to buy or order anything that day. But I want to make sure we have each slot full for them, if it's only to an education or to learn about their wedges/irons they are totally fine with that. And Hayes...just so you know @MDGolfHacker is a 20 year friend of mine, and I don't let a week go buy without giving him a hard time about something...And yet he still considers me a friend...just shows what a great guy he is!!

  32. I had another friend years ago with an M3 who also would swap me for my truck. He had it all juiced up with a chip and other goodies. That thing was a whole other level of fast . For me anyway If I recall, it was a sub 4.5 0-60 with the aftermarket stuff. 6 speed manual that drove on rails. Talk about a butt puckering experience

  33. If I’m in the way of someone who is a likely buyer I’ll back out. I’m primarily hoping to get a professional’s assessment of what grinds I should be playing, but I’d say the chances of me buying on the spot are 20-30% at best. If someone is truly likely to buy and I’m in the way of them getting fit they can have my spot…

  34. If you struggle with fatter shots, I’d stay away. They have a very thin sole and are great for pickers/sweepers like me. If you are steeper, something like the Srixon zx7 would give you similar look and general performance, but with a sole design that fits you better How do I know? I had the Srixon 765 irons and got fitted into Jpx Tour 919s because of there narrower sole. Can read more about my fitting here But as mentioned above, before spending $1k or so on irons that you’ll hopefully have for 5 years+, it’s worth spending the $100 to get the right set through a fitting

  35. I would strongly suggest to go to a place in your location which offers fittings. Mizuno has updated the 919's to the latest 921 models, in both Tour and Forged models. The Forged models are slightly stronger lofted, and slightly more forgiving. With the abundance of shafts that Mizuno offers as no charge for these irons, it would give you the best results that fit you. Once you have an idea of what set-up suits you, you could then look around various websites or stores to finalize the purchase. Best of luck in your search for the right irons for you!

    Ping stock wedge shafts

I would put PING and their engineers at the top of the food chain for golf technology. Everything they do is for a specific purpose to obtain a specific outcome. I saw it when I went to Scottsdale in 2005 to become a certified fitter and speaking with the Solheim family. I've seen it for decades in how they conduct business. If they selected a specific shaft, there was a very good reason. It's also why their stock wood shafts compete so well with OEM brands for fittings. Sure, Nippon is currently the "hot" brand at the moment but there is also a very good reason why they are the hot brand...Nippon is super squared away, shaft tolerances are fantastic and performance / feel is as good as anything that I have personally ever played.

    How'd you play?

Here is what I found to help not ruin scores for me: When I am not striking the ball solid, don't rush through the course. I need time to "forget" a bad shot before I stand over the next. My playing partners always drive on carts, so if I have an off day, I walk and just leave my bag on the cart. That way I get time to get over a bad strike without slowing down play. When in trouble of the tee, just play it safe and get back into play. Forget about the awesome recoveries you see the Pro's hit out of the bush, I am not good enough to be certain that I will miss all the trees in the narrow opening there might be. If I was that accurate, I wouldn't be in the bush 30m off line in the first place. Always, Aim small. Get a proper pre-shot routine and stick to it on every shot.

  40. So after finally getting a round back in the high 70s, I went to the range to battle the 108* Texas heat. Just wanted to keep my current feels and try and work on my tee shots I will need for my upcoming tournament. My irons are feeling phenomenal, but I still feel like I have to guide my driver. I’m not super confident/comfortable with it at the moment. I can’t get the same feel that I did a few weeks ago when I was striping it, but I started to feel the heat get to me so I had to find a good one to end with and head home. I got home and cooled down then did a flexibility workout that I’ve been doing recently, I’m hoping this can improve my body awareness and balance on the course.

  41. Nippon makes good shafts Ping does very extensive testing with all their clubs and shafts before they put a shaft in a club. Based on how good pings choices in no upcharge offerings have been for years it would be a good guess that this shaft fits a lot of people. Also since it’s stock it’s very easy for anyone to go to a store and hit it and see if they like it or not. So have you hit it? if so what are your thoughts on why it’s not a good stock shaft? if you haven’t hit yet why do think it’s not a good stock shaft?

  45. Got to make a couple purchases recently. First is an Xcaliber Avalon 5 TS shaft, part of a larger light weight driver experiment I will document in another thread. Shout out to Xcaliber for responding to some of my questions and one of the executives getting back to me and then taking the time to tip and trim the shaft for me. I am pairing that with a Undersize CPX grip to give that a try. Then I have been trying to figure out between my 3 wood and 4 hybrid as I have gotten a longer 3 wood but my 3 hybrid struggles to get within 20 yards of it. So I picked up the mint Callaway Epic Speed 5w with a 7 wood length shaft. I am hoping this gives a better option for something going around 215, with 3 wood going 230 and 4 hybrid sitting around 200.

  46. Good luck on the iron fitting! Switched to Fuji Tour Spec 115 iron shafts this year and love them. The thin shot and shots in the cold early in the year felt much better and I was also feeling it a bit in my elbow when practicing on maps. I am not going back lets just say that.
