    How'd you play?

Played a great round with my brother yesterday. It was his birthday Friday and I'm certainly glad he wanted to go out and get a round in with me and my cousin. Had a personal best 13/18 GIR on the day as my irons and wedges were on point. I landed two 200 yard 5-iron approaches on the green and converted one of those for an Eagle. A double, and 4 bogeys otherwise lead to a +4 75 finish on the day!

Played a new course , very hilly and steep in much of the course so we decided to ride. The carts had THE most comfortable seats I’ve ever experienced in a golf cart. The only thing going through my mind when I sat in the cart was Ricardo Montalban’s voice saying “Rich Corinthian Leather”.

  3. Another hustle round of good stuff and absolute blow ups. 87 (+15) with 1 bird, 5 pars, 8 bogeys and 4 doubles Par 3’s we’re my friend (-1 for the day) with some awsome shots (220,210,200,180) so by no means slouch holes. Really wish I could have teed up my approach shots. i had 5 penalties off the tee and 1 off what was the best drive of the day (caught a 1 hop cart path) to put myself 100 out on a par 5….put it in a hazard….woof…. Missed 50% left off the tee….. Par 3s, wedges and putting were my only saving grace. On to next week One of 3 decent drives for the day (landed the green and hopped onto the back rough)

    How'd you play?

Good day on the course today. My team didn't fare well, but I shot well. I bogeyed #8 when my approach shot found the sand to shoot 37 on the front. A birdie on 10 got me back to even....then.... 5 bogeys in a row and I'm thinking "come on, Carl...don't let this round get away from you". Birdie on the par 3 16th hole and followed up by a par on 17 and 18 to come in with a 39 on the back. 76 for the round. My best score on this course (9 months of play since moving here). @dlow206great job blasting past 90! My mantra for approach shots to take enough club to hit anywhere from the center of the green to the back, with more emphasis on the back portion. I find myself hitting a lot more GIR with that approach than flag hunting. Again, well done on your PBs! I know you've been working hard to get there. Keep it up!

  5. Easily the best round of golf I've played today. Got out for first tee time, so no one to slow me up. I always have 3 goals before each round: no lost balls, no 3 putts, and no double bogeys. Today was the first time I achieved them all together. 41 front 9 (a good score for me, but not amazing or anything). Now I usually can only hold it together for 9 holes before falling apart. But today, I think because it was such a quick round, I was able to keep things under control. 37 back 9 with a birdie to finish and my first time breaking 80! Not the best I have struck the ball on tee shots or approaches, but probably the smartest golf I have played. No going for it or ego shots, just play it back out of trouble and try to scramble well. And scramble I did. The best my short game has every been working. 31 putts for the round with no 3 putts!

  6. #11 at New England CC Hit a good drive, in the right rough but safe and level on an otherwise undulating fairway. Then hit an absolutely beautiful 5 iron that was exactly as I was picturing it in my mind. Took off on line with the right edge of the green and drew just on, and went left once it was rolling. Settled 25 feet past and right of the flag which was protected short and left by a bunker. Dropped the put for Eagle!

    How'd you play?

... You know your game Kenny so not directed at you but since most golfers come up short more than 90% of the time, I think they should: Hit to the middle/back yardage for a front pin. Hit to the back for a middle pin And this is the tricky part but hit over the green to a back pin. Unless there is trouble over the green. ... Playing with so many mid to high index players I rarely (if ever) see anyone hit a shot over the back of the green unless it is a mishit. I am not talking about thin shots with low spin surlyn balls that rolled over the back of the green but a reasonably good shot. The amount of times I see a player hit a shot short of the green or just on the front dwarfs any other scenario's with decently struck shots. So many base their yardage on their best shots, not their average or worse shots and unfortunately most hit more worse shots than their best shots.

Played like crap. Beautiful day, but my allergies were raging; eyes swollen and itchy. Just couldn't focus on the shot. No birdies, only 6 pars, lots of bogeys, and a couple of doubles.

    How'd you play?

I played yesterday, shot 78, but it could’ve been a really low round! I missed FIVE birdie putts inside 10 feet, made TWO that were tap-ins on par 5s. Ugh. First two holes, two missed birdies! Ultimately my driver accuracy killed me, and of course the putting…

Trust me I can relate. At the course my old man ran we had to take chicken manure and mix it with sand and then shovel it by hand in the spreader. And the mix had to be right do too much manure has too much nitrogen by itself and will cook the grass. We also had a mix with sewer sludge from the local waste treatment plant we had to mix it with peat loam. On that stuff we also had to use sticks with nails to pick out used condoms no joke. Later on when I got a drivers license I did get to drive the C-60 dump to pick up the materials so that was sorta a blessing for me in those days. But even with that I still had to help in all the other processes like before

  16. You need to start thinking like it can happen. When you are a 16, it doesn't take much to have a great round. My wife scared breaking 80 a couple of weeks ago and she's a 16. She would have done it except it took her 2 shots to get out of a bunker on the last hole and made double. Once the good rounds keep coming, a great round can happen all of a sudden. You have a day when you stay out of trouble, the short game is solid, and you see the line for putts better than usual.

Played a really solid round today tee to green, but nothing exceptional.. Course was playing really soft today with all the rain we have had recently. Struggled a bit with the putter, 4 three putts today... all after hitting the green in regulation. 5 bogeys, 13 pars. 39/38... 77. Hoping to take advantage of the holiday tomorrow to get one more round in before diving back into the work week.

    PXG Gen 5 Driver?

Another LM session in the books with the 0311 driver. So last year I started the season with a RADspeed. I was fit for it, got good numbers at the shop, but just couldn't take that game to the course. I then went back to the drawing boards and after watching the TXG 2021 driver brackets, got a hold of the ST-Z and it was all she wrote. The driver got such good numbers, it was consistent, and long! I ended up plugging in the Fujikura Motore X F1 6X that I was a tester for in 2020 for MGS and the thing was a beast! As I mentioned previously, I just never got along with the profile and the sound was just ok. Moving on.. tonight I opened up the throttle a little. I wanted to see how stable the Diamana S+ S flex is and how forgiving the driver might or might not be.. I was getting some really hot numbers! I'd dare say hotter than the ST-Z and maybe even more forgiving! As for the feel and sound, tonight I was in the more open bays where the real sound is more audible. VERY SIM esque and that's exactly what I was after. Look at address is very square. Not closed at all but not open either. If I can take the same #'s to the course that I saw tonight, I don't see how this isn't a top contender for MGS DOTY. So far it's shaping up to be THAT good! Now the only thing I have left to do is get a tip for the 0311 to put on my MotoreX and then compare the shafts. So far though I'm really liking the new Diamana.

    How'd you play?

Company tournament this Thursday, so I decided I’d play a recon round today at the same course.(Thanksgiving Point) Shot 7 over with no birdies, hit driver on a lot of holes I wouldn’t normally, but since it’ll be a scramble I figured I wanna see it fly. Glad I got to see some putts, this course is on the savage side.(76.1/144 from the forward tees). Fairways were a tad on the soft side…

    How'd you play?

My recipe is to see where the pin is located... get yardage to the front... get yardage to the back. If pin is middle or back, I hit the longest club that has NO chance of going off the back... considering rollout. If pin is in the front, I use the club that puts me in the middle of the green; a mishit is likely a good shot. I don't fire at front pins unless there is no trouble in front and it's an easy up and down. However, I suppose that all depends on how large the greens are and how much slope back-to-front they have.

New next door neighbors are from Alabama and everything he owns is Red and has Alabama plastered all over it which is fine. Only problem I had at the beginning is learning to understand the “special” type of English language they speak. Took a while but I do understand….a little bit. Oddly enough another neighbor from Georgia has no trouble with that language..

Oh, and i learned to listed to @chisag. should have taken one more club, hit the ball online but 1 yard too short and hit it into the water on hole 9, par 3 on my course. I actually made a good strike, but the weather was very different than last week so irons weren't carrying as far. i made sure to adjust after that.

    How'd you play?

My weekly men's club event was set up as a Scramble today, so score wasn't really relevant. But I did hit 12/14 fairways, and 13/18 greens. It was WET on the course today... so all carry, no roll in the fairways... but was averaging ~240 which is pretty good for me - especially with limited roll out. Oh, I do miss the dry hard fairways of the hot summer months... my driving stats looked so much better!! haha. But we need the water on the course, so I'm not complaining. I have a Sunday game tomorrow if I'm not rained out... hoping my driver and approach shots have a long memory from today's round.
