  1. Good Morning from the big apple! Central Park is as close I get everyday to seeing a golf course this time of year. Bethpage is out there somewhere...

    How'd you play?

OK then. Rain in the forecast. Went anyway. I mean, in the Phoenix area, 320 days of great golf weather a year so playing in the rain is bupkis if you want. Playing since 1981. I have had 3 albatross on par 5, to many eagles on par 4 and 5 to count made insurance money on 2 holes in one. My last goal in golf. Shoot my age. Yup, it happened today. I drink about once a quarter but I am sitting here drinking Drambuie out of my Viking mug. Oooo-rah. Sweet 70. 17 pars and a birdie. And before you say it, there were a couple of lucky shots but about time it swung my way. The rest was pretty golden. I've been swinging everyday out on my mat on the back porch and the swing is pretty damn good. CHEERS!

  4. Good morning all. Nice mild 30 degree morning here in Wisconsin leading to a high of...wait for it...MID 50s!! I saw a facebook post that a golf course in the Madison area, about an hour from where I live, was opening today. Home course won't be opening for I would say at least another three weeks with some large swaths of snow still covering areas that don't see much sun, but we are getting there. Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day as well. The spring program at my son's school was really enjoyable. He goes to a K-8 catholic elementary school, so while the singing isn't always exceptional, the music teacher does a great job with the kids and you can tell they really have fun with it. I am a self admitted sap ever since my boys were born, and there was a song that tugged on my heart strings a little bit yesterday. I may have shamelessly shed a tear. The song was called If This Is The Last Time by LANY. Had never heard of it until yesterday, but something about a gym full of kids singing this song directed at all the parents got me. Linked in the post here if you're an emotional music listener like me Have a great day everyone!

  8. Happy Tuesday, GM thread, my order of priorities today is 1)coffee 2)catch up on stock market madness 3)grooming At some point I'll venture out to buy some essentials that are low. Having a 3:50pm tee time I have time to find a spot to fuel up with a solid meal, something I rarely do before golfing. I may leave early to explore the area around the course, as I've rarely driven 1 hour NW from my house.

  9. Morning, I had a nice phone call with my bank this morning to stop some fraudulent charges on my debit card, so now that's canceled and I'm waiting on a new card to show up in the mail, so I have that going for me... Today will be a rough enough one as is. C'mon universe, help a brother out.

  10. Good Morning (Ok... it's late morning but I'm still drinking my coffee so it counts)! Actually in the office today, which is probably good for actually getting stuff done today. A lot going on outside of work with exciting forum stuff coming up and baseball starting soon for the kids. I can just feel the Spring time coming!

  11. Good Morning everyone! Woke up to 43º... a little cloudy this morning but sun is supposed to come out around noon and warm up to 60º. I see 67º in the forecast!! Today is a fasting day until dinner tonight, so just coffee. My wife is playing this morning with girlfriends; I will head out to practice when the sun is out. I need to work on my short chips.

  12. Well pulled the first "bad" vine of the season... There's this beautiful burning bush that literally straddles the fence between us and the neighbor on that side .. they've never been into yard maintenance other than building out a new deck and surrounds for their pool .. so that strip along the fence on their side has all kinds of garbage that grows/re-grows every year and threatens to choke off not only that bush but also the now tall skip laurels that we planted on our side and a bunch of hyacinth on their side .. so guess who gets to dig around in the poison ivy patch and clean up..! Anyway off to the range a little later; supposed to be rainy and dreary on and off tomorrow thru Saturday.....

  15. Good morning on a not yet golf warm WNY Tuesday with a hot mug of Wegman's Breakfast Blend freshly opened and steaming in the mug two more waiting in the thermos to get to lunchtime. Wakened with realization in 2 months I need to be walking 4 miles carrying a Standard for two days of the PGA Championship so I better start getting my steps in and not wait until it happens pushing Clicgear and golf bag around the course so that is going to begin with at least 2 miles after work today. Hope golf is part of your day

  18. I happened to be wearing shorts. When it gets down below freezing I'll wear sweats over them until I get into work, shorts are so much more comfortable while I'm moving around on the line. Good morning everyone! I hope each of you have a good Tuesday. I'm relaxing in the car listening to podcasts and enjoying my morning coffee. It's the last cold morning forecast for the week.

  19. On a buddies trip to Myrtle Beach. My first round of golf since November. The driver was a slice-o-palooza. I made the switch to my 3 wood and started finding fairways. We play the West Course at Myrtle Beach National. The greens were fast and the flags were on some nasty slopes. If you were above the hole, putting was treacherous. Oh and it was 42 degrees at tee time. (My inner dialogue was, “I left Syracuse for this? )

  20. Had another useful range sesh! ...building up confidence for getting out and finally playing One of the key feels for me at this point is to get the arms moving into the downswing more quickly from the top .. almost leading the body .. while still getting the weight/pressure shift moving forward of course! When I get it, I'm getting much better ball flights .. heck even (on a relative basis) mashed the driver a few times... Work In Progress.

  21. Once again thank you all for participating and filling out the poll. It was extremely helpful and I wanted to provide you with an update on some of the changes it has meant will come into effect over the coming month or so. 1. Newsletters - This has been mentioned in other threads, but our Monday, Wednesday, Friday Newsletter will continue as is. We are very happy with it and it does help bring eyes to the forum which is important to us. The second part is with Testing Season coming up somewhat soon there will be an additonal Tuesday and Thursday Newsletter that goes out specifically around Member Testing. Thursday will focus on new tests that are coming (announcing them) and Tuesday will be Testers announced and Final reviews. This will help get some additional eyes on the tests and hopefully help more engagement! Please be nice to all the newbies coming! haha I know all of you will, but going that little extra step to guiding them means a lot! 2. MGSVT - We as a mod team really like this feature and are going to work to promote it a bit more. We and by we I mean @Golfspy_TCB have some exciting plans for it and a few things to spice it up that will hopefully help engagement and get all of you to post your rounds when you're able to play! 3. AMA - This is going to the back burner for now. How it might change is within our community calls. This would mean I have a special guest come on to discuss their company, products or whatever else and we record it and post it after. This is much less time consuming for us and should allow for more free flowing conversation. The old format is not likely to return. 4. Member Map and Course Reviews - Again a feature we like and just need to do a better job highlighting. We want to see more course reviews on here as it helps everyone find fun and unique courses. Even if you don't want to pin your location it would be great if you can put in a course review or two! It is really quick, easy and helps more golfers find more courses easily! 5. Member Testing - ahh watch this space. I don't believe you will be disappointed... but glad to see for most all it isn't the only reason you are here. 6. MGS Blog content - We will work to bring you more of what you want here onto the forum and we are also looking at more forum items on the main site! Whether that be member reviews, course reviews, trending topics or more! 7. Big Trip - Still a lot tbd on this however when we have further news we will keep you updated. 8. The gallery - This feature will likely be removed. Unfortunately it does cause a lot of back end issues and unless we can sort it out we may have to pull the plug on this. There are very few that actually post albums of photos there and more post in threads. I am guessing the majority of who said yes are those who browse through the photos vs actually posting in them. 9. Glad to see so many with push notifications! 10. Themes are as expected and there won't be much changes here. 11. Ads - This may change a big, bit as to how you see ads, however the forum structure is built with placement for ads and we have been assured that will not change. User experience is key and if there are some that are awful like they had been please screenshot and let us know. 12 - BST - We still want a new platform here and are working on it. Still TBD, but we do want to expand this area of the forum. Thanks again all and let us know if you have questions!

    How'd you play?

Today was 49 degrees and we had a steady 15 mph wind with gust to 25. Needless to say it was challenging. However, layered up and manned up ready to play our Monday money game. Hit it solid all day. However, had 5 bogeys. The good part was it was offset by 4 birdies. Shot a 1 over 73. Bad part my partner didn’t hold up his end and we lost today. Shooting 1 over and loosing stings!

    Sub70 golf

Hey @GolfSub70 We are hosting a demo day at our course in a few weeks, from what I understand one of the first in the entire area to do so. We'[re excited abou tit. Just in the two days since it's been announced on our FB page, I have had more people ask me "What is the Sub 70 all about" in that time than I have in 5 years. So that's exciting, to be able to share the store with them. And to help promote and build the hype around it I figured why not go ahead and orde my very first "senior age appropriate driver" LOL.....Looking forward to putting this to the test in my CG2 Driver Shootout thread.

  26. That is the truth, and I am sorry to hear that, Bob. I hope that your dad is recovering well. It really is a beautifully written song. You always think you have more time until you don't. We are very fortunate to get to see our parents regularly as my in-laws live about three minutes from us and my parents about 45 minutes away. My mom has been our babysitter for our boys, so I have gotten to see her weekly for the last almost 6 years, and my dad stops over a couple times a week to see the boys as well. I have been trying hard to be more present lately so that I don't miss any moments with my children, but also my parents and in-laws as well. It is amazing how at least in my eyes, my parents haven't aged a bit since I was in high school, even though I know they have. I'd give just about anything to be able to put the brakes on time.

  27. So after a 2 weeks of working out of state, I went to the range to see where I am with my swing. Honestly, I think it was really good for my swing. I have really been working on opening my hips more in the backswing, instead of swaying, that along with feeling my arms drop in downswing is really making my irons crisp with just a baby draw. My ball striking has been so much better. Hoping to get out and play today, or do some more practice. I am consistently breaking 80 right now, so I am going to be more mindful of tracking my tiger 5 stats to try and get past the current plateau. I’m also looking at new course strategies to help where I am constantly losing strokes.

  33. The same guy who was super interested in the P790s hit my HDs on the range and had an organism! He kept drooling out of his mouth like a red tick coon hound on the trail and had this wild look in his eyes. He hit the HD wedge then eight iron and then was slobbering over the five iron. I told him to go ahead before he peed his pants and hit that sucker. He smacked that ball high and long and said how much? I said how much what? Well, how much ya want for em? I said the P790s ain't got here yet! He said screw the P790s these HD irons are what I'm wanting. I said whooooooaaaaaa there big fellow, you'd rather run through hell with gasoline drawers on than try and take those HD's out of my bag. The next thing I knew he was pulling clubs out of my bag and taking pictures of em. I'd bet my brother-in-law's prize coon hound old Larry will have a set of the HDs in his bag by next weekend.

  34. GM gentle folk 47 and rainy here, but I'm trying to hold on to the idea that we desperately need all this rain (SoCal's been in a massive drought for years at this point), and it won't last forever. I'm working today, anyway, so it's not like I'm missing out on anything Coffee is good and hot this morning, had a bowl of Cheerios which I haven't had in ages - something about seeing them in my kids' bowls this morning made me crave them. Hit the spot. Planning my bday (4-weeks from today) round at my favorite local course (Rustic Canyon - truly beautiful), trying to make sure my buddies clear their schedule. @Jnoble89 - if my kid ever sings that song to me, I'll be doing more than "shedding a tear" - full out weeping. Beautiful song - incredible that you have all that support nearby. My wife and I, though so, so grateful to live and work where we do, desperately miss being near family, and having both lost our moms, that song hit hard this morning Quick, someone post something about walking farts so I can shake this off

  35. So I realize not a lot of activity in this thread lately from me, I apolgizie...a combination of bad weather and real life interfeering. But here are some quick thoughts/updates on drivers in play/testing so far. Titleist TSR!-Has been the most conistent so far. Much like the TSi1 it just doesn't miss fairways. Played in recent 2 man scramble a week ago. My partner who plays whites and drives it bout 240 to 250 and is a solid 8 to 9 handicap hit first eing on the whites. He had an unusually bad day off the tee...43 degee temps and 25 mph winds will do that. on no less than 5 holes he was out of play off the tee and said, it' son you partner. Playing off the Golds...Senior advantage, I hit all 5 of those fiarways and had us good shape into the green. On the day I hwas 10/14 fairways. Tough to judge anything distance wise with those winds. but it was long enough for the condtioins. Callwway Paradym -Really tough tto judge this one yet. I may have mentioned it was sent with the wrong shaft, and I hvaen't gotten around to getting the correct shaft yet. I'm tempted to just take one of my spare shafts sitting around that has a Titleist tip onit and get it switched to a Callaway Tip vs waiting for the shaft from Callaway. I think it will be very good based on my demo with it, but need to see it on course with a shaft that is fit for me. PING G430 This came with the Ventus Red TR. Maybe it's not the shaft for me, but it's been ok, nothing spectacular. I haven' thit it for a couple weeks as mentioned above, b ut I do have an older PING Alta shaft, I put in it and hit a few range balsl with on a windy day. Seemed to feel a bit more lively to me with that. So we will see what som LM testing does with it. Still to come Wilson Dyna Power Cobar Aero Jet Stealth (+) Sub 70 849D

  42. Did an hour on the foresight sim as my lesson coach is on vaca and I used the time. I felt very loose and confident, but the sim readings seemed juiced somehow. Elevation and all settings normal - but hit all long irons and woods crazy long. Maybe all the practice is helping? Maybe the sim is off? Maybe both? Played 11 sim holes at +1. Hit 3 par 5 greens in two. Would take that in reality any day. But I doubt it’s real. What if it is?

... Congrats and welcome to the club! I am not sure what "Phoenix area" you live in but this winter has been far from "360 days of great golf weather!" I have only lived here 4 years but this winter has been wetter and colder than the other 3 winters combined. And clear blue skies and sunshine has been the exception where it seemed like every day the last 3 winters. But of course much better than Northern climates so I guess I should just go get some cheese for my whine. ... Congrats again on shooting your age!

In my opinion there is no better hat then the Nike Classic 99. Especially for someone such as myself with a big head and an ever changing hairstyle. I like that it can stay on my head without giving me a headache.
