  3. Good morning and glad to see you chose the Good Morning Thread to join in our friendly group. I think you will find this a worthwhile addition to your day and find the people who contribute here and throughout the MGS forum to be the kind of people who you would choose to have as friends. That is why I am involved here. Welcome in

  4. Good Thursday morning everyone! I'm waking up, drinking coffee, and getting maintenance scheduled for my car. I feel fairly productive for 4 in the morning. Hopefully I can get my PTO approved for it, my supervisor isn't the best at getting in a hurry about approval. I found out yesterday we have to work Saturday. I've been volunteering the last few, but knowing we have to produce instead of helping finish is a bummer. It's still going to be a good day today. I'm looking forward to the community call this evening.

  8. Morning all, back to work today. 50 right now with some drizzle. Have an eye doctor appointment down in the city during work to finally hopefully update my contact lens prescription so I can ditch these glasses! Hope it’s a great day for everyone!

  9. I used to be able to call same day at a course and get out anytime I wanted from 6-3…..I barely get one in if I call a day or two before unless it’s really early which is fine by me but frustrating lol. I want to go on a whim!

  10. I'm just going to quote this so it shows up twice and maybe folks will see it better. Yes, we love testing too! I hope that everyone who wants to test will be able to some day. It's not difficult to get involved here as the community really sucks you in once you start poking around and getting involved on threads. Welcome to all the new members we will soon have and make sure you get involved if you want to be a tester!

  11. As we have launched our first test I implore all new members and guests to check this test out. It should help nearly all your questions about how and who we select for testing. Important to note. These are NOT contests to be won, but reviews that come with the expectation of a full review, thorough participation, updates and communication with the community throughout the test. They are also grade and those grades help or hurt future chances with testing opportunities. Also as we have seen for this most recent test. Multiple entries = automatic no selection. Again they are not contests, they are work and there is a commitment to the community that comes with being selected. We hand select each tester for each test. Sometimes we have to pass on very good candidates, but maybe we are saving them for another test or maybe we just need to see a little more!

  12. Morning all. I gave my clubs a good brushing they look happy. Getting out at 1:50. Hopefully this allows for the rain to slow down or potentially stop. I'm playing either way. Only .13" in total precipitation over 4-5 hours, I'm thinking the course will be to my liking. I seem to hit my irons better when there's some water on the ground, morning dew on the grass or a light rain before I go out and it seems I interact with the turf better.

  14. I finally got caught up on this thread; last posted here yesterday morning and I couldn't believe the number of posts in 24 hours!! Good Morning all. Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous; sunny and very little wind. My wife and I played with a couple of friends that we haven't played with since last year. It was a social day, and scoring was pitiful, but we had a great time!! After the ice delay I started peeling layers off; it's golf shirt weather!! Well, until today that is... back to temps in low 50's but still sunny. Wind warning: Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. So my day will be looking a lot like this...

  15. GM Y'all- This weather we've been having recently is very reminiscent of Scotland. Just waiting for the critters to form up in 2s and start wandering toward some ark that I'm sure is being built SOMEWHERE. On the plus side-it'll make the greens more receptive this weekend and help the courses grow up to be strong and healthy (unfortunately- that also includes the rough). For those playing today- I'm envious- but hope you find nothing but fairways and greens (and a few extra balls if yours happen to go errant). We got this

  17. Good morning all, what a way to kick off my morning! Needed the excitement as I woke up to snow on the ground thankfully not much and it *shouldn’t* stick. Excited is an understatement as to how I feel about testing season.

  18. Retirement is great!! Mornings are much more pleasant. I still like to work part time, but it is nice to know that you don't have to. Extra money is nice though (pays for golf)

  19. Sounds like we are on the same life plan and my HR keeps letting me know about retirement seminars but there is more reason to keep going than to pull the pin and start the beginning of the last third of life - so much left to do and good bloodline, expecting to get to triple digits. Good morning from a wet WNY on this MGS Community Call Thursday, impending downpours (if predicted weather radar is on point) should help wash all remaining road salt off everything. Hot coffee keeping me company with memories of yesterday's first round on course filling every moment, hope your day has golf a part of it more than just MGS forum

    How'd you play?

I have written about some of my recent struggles the past month in the ‘practice’ thread. Been a lengthy slump covering the gamut - drives, irons and putting. Wedges have been good and my 58*/8* growing into a savior. Fir a long time, my driver has been my strength before it went on a hiatus. I’m streaky with irons and could never articulate what I’m doing right when they were good, or what I’m doing wrong, when they are bad. Putting - just need to get some coaching - I avg 34.5 putts/round. Recently have had a lot of range sessions, convinced of some mechanical issues that I’m working on with specific fixes. I played a couple times last week and at times felt I’m making progress, but a ways to go. I spent Sun, Mon, and yesterday back at the range, sticking to my plan and feeling things are starting to work. Played 18 today - sunny skies, soft breeze, high 60s. Shot 41/40 for an 81. Drives were solid with 10/13 FIRs. Only 6 GIRs but that is misleading with 7 other approaches that were just off the green or maybe up to 5 yards off. I had 5 up/downs (4 with my 58*). 9 pars and 1 birdie. Irons significantly improved. Putting is improving - 13 putts on the front, 18 on the back for a total of 31 whereas my avg is 34.5.Had several missed 4-5 footers. But feeling really good about today.

  22. I actually don't want to retire. Technically 3-1/2 years to full retirement age according to SS. But work is good, I can work from home now, have MGS up on my second monitor, set my own travel schedule to meet customers (take them golfing). Play in a bunch of customer charity golf outings throughout the year. Get my golf clothes, flights, meals, golf, and car paid for by my company. Why would I retire? Living the dream. It's like my own tour fully sponsored. I even wear my sponsors name on my hat and golf shirts. I do have to work but it's mostly meet and greet and be a solution provider. Some product training and contract reviews and negotiations. As long as I keep bringing in the work nobody bothers me. I actually like the work from home thing. Having spent 40 years in an office, it is great to get away from the drama and office politics. I've only been doing the home thing since December, so we'll see how it goes.

It's just nice to have one of them out there in the wild... it's been really hard to keep the cap on this year's member testing without the top blowing off! #moretocome #membertesting2023

  26. Good morning! Its going to be beautiful here today (high of 76) and tomorrow (high of 83). Unfortunately, I won't make it out to play/practice. returned yesterday from meetings in NYC, have too much to do today, and tomorrow is my wife's birthday. On the literal bright side, Sunday is supposed to be sunny with a high of 77 so....

  27. This is strictly my own personal opinion but I believe there will be a required hybrid model for some time in the next 6-12 months. My company is not doing it yet...HR is extremely cautious as are alot of companies requiring a come back to an office BUT it can only last for so long. Productivity will take a dip and I think the best solution without pissing people off is a hybrid 3/2 in person/at home model. Time will tell but atleast with that you get the productivity of people coming in and collaborating as well as being home and being productive there. We all know everyone is doing stuff around the house when they are home.....

    How'd you play?

played today, 1st. day this week as the grandkids are off for spring break so I have been spending some time with them, anyway, I went to my coach on sunday and today I got to work on "emulating David Duval's swing and Annika Sorenstam's swing" and quit "flipping" my hands through the shot. I would say I was 30% successful which I am fine with, I hit a lot of shots thin but in the correct direction so managed to get up and down quite a bit, sunk some great putts, missed some as well, but ended up with a two over 74. I get to play again tomorrow so more reps coming up....

  35. Nah, too cheap to do that as I want to be able to retire someday and I have have absolutely no idea how much I will need to do that so no spending money now. Kind of paranoid about having enough to live on. It is more related to not really liking the work from home thing. Been about 3 years now and I miss my coworkers. I could go in, but there isn't anyone from my team that is there. Looking forward to tomorrow and going in and being able to interact with people again.

    How'd you play?

Went out in 43 today, which included a couple of the s-words, then managed to avoid those on the back and obviously that helped...36. Grand total, 79. I also got on the course about an hour after a heavy weight session...probably didn't help and likely explains the occasional shank I suffered from.
