  1. Hey everyone, trying my first post here! Good morning!! What do you have planned for golf today, this weekend? My 14yo Son has HS golf tryouts tonight (in a dome because we still have like 8" snow on the ground), then we are heading to Birdi Golf tomorrow to play 9 (Bar with Sims). I'll post picks over the weekend!

I know I have gone over this somewhere, but worth repeating. It may be in the Want to be a tester thread, first post. Anyway we filter the applicants. Profile photos are a must, then we filter for roughly 20 posts and then we are left with maybe 5% and if we go to 50 or more posts it is 2% of the applications. Nearly 90% are one off or "tester only" applicants who only sign up for tests. All in all we create our short list which @GolfSpy_BOS transfers over, we all give our input and usually there is some overlap on who we like for a test and have a bit of discussion on who we want. Some cases we don't select someone because we feel they would be better for another test or they have tested irons recently etc. It seems like a lot and would take forever, but really we can have it all done in the span of a normal call which is about an hour.

  4. Welcome into the MGS forum and what a score for your first post. The Good Morning Thread has plenty of action with regular and long time contributors and they are friends of the kind I would choose if I was out looking for friends, and don't have to because they are already here. Outdoor golf is around the corner for us in the northern parts of the US and our northern neighbors, can measure it in weeks and days now

  6. Well not quite a "good" morning here - yet another leak inside the house... liking this place a little less and less over time... @Lacassem is that a For Sale sign across the street? Let's see over the years... 1. moved in, got new shower doors - small drop randomly appears from under the bottom (just been ignoring that one); 2. baseboard heating, circulating hot water with Pex tubing - one of those flimsy clamps broke and water seeped under the wood floor in the family room (haven't bothered to replace the floor yet .. area rugs!); 3. two venting skylights - one leaks, roofer couldn't find it so there are still drops coming in from heavy rains (other skylight doesn't open anymore); 4. worker putting up some Azak trim out back with a nail gun punched two small holes right into.. yep .. the Pex hot water line that feeds upstairs (that turned into a big disaster); 5. hot water heater top gasket gave out - the funny part of this story is the builder we bought the house from finished the basement and put a standard size door to the boiler room .. the old water heater is wider than that .. so it's stuck down there until I get someone over to take the door and part of the wall apart to get it out.... I'm sure there have been one or two other leaks but this morning's addition? So trying to be a good houseboy (I'm retired, wife still works full-time) and run the dishwasher .. sit down in the front room with coffee, dog and forum opened on my phone .. think I hear a drop of water from the kitchen .. go check the sink faucet, nope .. hear another .. yep there's an occasional drop coming out of the front lower left of the dishwasher...

  7. GM fellow spies! Frosty, clear morning here in Wisconsin. The snow we got yesterday melted off as the afternoon gave way to sunny skies. We actually went out for a little walk on the course after I got home from work. Still very wet in spots and a good few weeks before it would be playable without a lot of damage, but the greens looked like they fared very well over the winter. Forecast has us getting 3-6” of snow tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed for me that we stay on the low end, if any at all. Highs in the 40s and 50s all week next week so it at least won’t stick around long! Have a great Friday, everyone!

  8. It's crazy how fast homes are still selling once they hit the market. We listed ours on a Tuesday, had an open house that Saturday, and an accepted offer Monday.

  9. Welcome! Definitely one of my favorite threads right here and it’s new! (Already 45 pages is ridiculous but I guess we have had about 45 days since it was started so makes sense ) Good luck to your son and tryouts. Do they have it in the school gym or do they go to a sim?

  10. Good morning from an overcast but not frozen WNY on this Friday hot coffee keeping the inside as warm as can be while Mother Nature sorts herself outside, it's forecast to be a typical wet and windy end of March in these parts. No problems getting on @Rickp and logging in to MGS though yesterday (as I always do before any online meeting) a restart to be ready for the MGS Community call late midday and on the restart the laptop indicated it was doing something like a CHKDSK that took about a half hour and I must say it's speed this morning is exponentially faster Hope golf is a part of your day

  11. Good morning everybody! We're right on the cusp of the weekend and hopefully good weather for all of you. I'm just starting my day off scrolling through the forum feed drinking some delicious coffee hoping it'll energize me for the start of my day.

  12. Morning all, let’s knock out this Friday(even though it’s my Tuesday) Weather hopefully turning for the better even though it’s a bit more chilly right now. Forgot my lunch box on the counter at home which is a bummer but makes for a good excuse to visit my favorite spot in the city for lunch! Hope it’s a great day for everyone!

    How'd you play?

Today was a warm day, but the wind was a blowing. It was between 19 and 25 mph. Needless to say it was a different game. However, on the front I had three birdies and three bogeys for a nice even par 36. The back nine was more consistent with only one bogey offset by one birdie. Hit the ball very well and probably could have gotten more out of the round. At the end of the day, I was still pleased. The real blessing was my thirteen handicap partner shot 79! So, today we won the money! Thank goodness for a partner that shoots his career round!

  14. Hi, I've been a lurker for awhile. Whenever I do a search for golf equipment reviews or opinions this site pops up. That's how I got here. I'm still figuring out how to navigate the site and just started posting today. Looking forward to becoming more familiar with the site and posters.

  15. Good morning all and TGIF! Been a busy week and it's only going to get busier from here to the 4th of July since baseball will be starting up. Turns out I'm going to be assistant coach for my oldest, head coach for my middle, and head coach for my daughter too. Based on how the schedule was last year I think I'll have baseball on Monday, Tuesday, every other Wednesday, Thursday, every other Friday, and 3 games on Saturday. And practice's in there somewhere too. Just forward all my mail to the baseball fields. haha I also told my family that I will be golfing every Sunday morning... I don't care if anyone comes with me, but I am playing! Tomorrow is "meet the coach" which is always fun to see the kids excited to get their hats and jerseys.

  16. Crazy part is it doesn't seem like a quiet market either that analysists keep anticipating. There is a TON coming out but its expensive. People getting out before these rates spike even higher I suppose.

  17. Welcome to the forum. You will find tons of golf information here and meet some really smart people.....unfortunately, I am not one of them! Good luck to your son on his golf tryouts.

  18. There are actually 2 lol. My wife keeps saying “as soon as you moved in everyone is bailing” I’m ok with it! I have not even had my signature bon fires this winter….. they both didn’t last 2 weekends. Both are contingent after 1 open house. Was a zoo both weekends

  19. Thanks!!! They are hitting on mats at a golf dome (only about 80 yards long so don't get full distance but see initial ball flight). He is doing some sim work and getting some lessons too. Contemplating driving 2 hrs south where courses are opening next week to get some on course work especially putting and short game stuff (both for him and me!!!)

    Rhoback golf attire

Hey all. Getting this unofficial test going on for Rhoback active wear: https://rhoback.com/ Anyone that does not know me I am from Massachusetts, father of 2 and avid golfer. So much so eventually my long term career goal is to manage a country club (I am in facilities and the dream is to eventually run some private club). Enough of me heres why I am doing a review on.....clothes. I wear golf attire for work and love polos. Was always an under armor and Nike person (thanks Tiger). I recently after my wife got me a shirt for fathers day that was a little louder and NOT either of those brands I have been dabbling in other brands. Puma has been great and I keep looking at some of these other sites like Rhoback. While expensive I grabbed two to get free shipping and to my surprise they have veteran/first responder discount! BONUS! I really want to see is the material better or just the same quality as Nike or UA for almost double the price? How is the fit? For me Nike typically fits the best but certain lines are better. Will get into some details as I get them out onto the course and at work but I ordered earlier this week, received shipping notice same day and should be here today. Will do some unveiling like a normal test and give my thoughts! The 2 I picked up were : -"The Absolute Peach" (I am hoping it will go with a new hat I just got thats white and orange, we will see) -"The Azalea"....because masters Stay tuned!

  23. Feeling really luck there too, our current house and mortgage seem like a steal right now. Will likely move in the future but we got a friend who is down sizing in the next couple years, and love their house so hoping to do a nice no realtor sale there and make a good amount on the current place. But for now enjoying the savings.

  24. GM Y'all!!!! HOW ABOUT THEM WILDCATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was a great yellow orb that appeared in the sky yesterday afternoon for a while and it's back again this morning- not sure what it is or how long it's gonna be here- but it seems to be warmer when it's visible. It's FINALLY Friday and I've got a 9:20 Tee Time in the morning so life is good- and for you people not worried about working and playing golf is your duty and obligation, enjoy yourselves- us working stiffs got his under control!!!!!

    The Good Morning Thread

Welcome to the forum; always good to se some new faces. No golf plans for today; I take Friday for from doing my MGS most wanted testing duties and my regular golf round is on Sunday. I’m back to my normal routine of working at home after spending yesterday in the office. It was nice to see and interact with some co workers; but missed being able to turn on the TV and watch some golf.

  28. Morning all! The rain has FINALLY called it quits here in SoCal, at least for the next 10 days or so, and I am a very grateful man. It's the wife's birthday today, so the morning was spent watching her "open" cards from the kids (with full explanation of what she was looking at as well as the VERY nitty details of how they were made by my 7-year old..."then I used the GREEN marker, here, here and HERE, to make grass!" (wife: "uh-huh....where's my coffee? I MEAN THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL!"). Really sweet. I managed to make her laugh with a romance novel, a bottle of her go-to Rye, a box of Fruity Pebbles (her favorite cereal as a kid), and a printout of the gift that was SUPPOSED to be here this past week, but is instead going to be 6 days late - but it's a killer painting that she's had her eye on for months, and I managed to surprise her, so ... bonus! She's off getting a birthday-tattoo to celebrate her mom (who passed several years back), which is pretty rad (both her honoring her mom and the tattoo itself), so it's quiet here without my "coworker." Managed to get through all 6 pages of comments on the Paradym testing thread - WOOHOO! It's so awesome to finally get to talk about the testing starting this year - you guys (and gals) are in for some really spectacular stuff, starting with this incredible testing opportunity. Alright - that's it! Happy Thursday (my Friday)!

It helps that I'm an analyst by day so I'm pretty good in excel. Otherwise it would take a lot longer. haha We do our best to ensure that people get picked fairly and also the OEM is getting quality reviewers for their products. We don't approach them asking for equipment as a giveaway, we spell it out to them how our reviews work, and why they're better for them. Based on the reactions we get I think they agree and see the value in our process and getting folks who will reliably review the equipment for them!

  32. Watching the coverage of the LPGA Drive On Championship, while reading through the latest issue of Golf Digest. I've said it before, I'll say it again... This tour has GREAT players!! Also, if these distances are good enough for Lydia Ko... 19 Tour Wins including 2 Majors.... they are good enough for me She is 25. 19 wins. Wow.

  34. I love that they've got tryouts in a dome - the most Northern-thing I've heard in a while. "What's that? There's 8 feet of snow outside? No problem! Let's do it in the dome!" How long do they have to practice inside before courses are ready to have them practice outside? Careful with this thread: it will very soon become a ritualistic part of morning routine Good luck to your son! Mine's only 3, but already has a pretty pure swing - can't wait to be able to play with him as he gets older.

  36. After getting back from Myrtle Beach for some spring break golf I was really hoping to get out in the course this weekend and keep the vibe going. Alas, the winter shenanigans aren’t quite done yet here in the Midwest so instead I get to hit more balls in the garage instead. Ugh

  37. I remember the wild summers during high school playing ball. We had games Tuesday, Thursday, occasional double headers Saturday and practice Monday & Wednesday. That was in addition to morning lifting and speed training every morning at the school and basketball and football camps. Thinking about how my parents managed to get me to all that stuff before I could drive still baffles me.

  38. Agreed. There's quite a few new builds going up in the rural town we live in, and it's crazy to me what builders are asking AND GETTING for homes. One of my friends just bought a new build that is 3 bed/2 bath, unfinished basement, something like 1400 square feet and it was $370k. Pre COVID that would have been a $225k house at best. We were able to do a private sale when we bought our current home on the golf course and I sure am glad because it saved us a lot of money in realtor fees.

  39. Welcome Lee! It definitely has felt like spring the past couple of days here in SE Mass. have not had much snow (total of about 10-12") and very little frost. Looking forward to getting a round in next week. Good luck to your son and have fun in the simulator.

  40. Good morning and welcome to the forums. No golf as I also am staring at some snow. Got family coming up for some birthday celebrations, so that will keep us more than busy. Good luck to your son, I know there are a lot of nerves there. I played my last two years of high school but that first tryout I was nervous wreck.

    How'd you play?

Got to play a fun round at east Potomac with a good friend. It's cherry blossom season in Washington DC and this course is right in the thick of the cherry blossom mania. It was great to get away from the crowds on the sidewalks and walk 18 while admiring the blossoms, Washington monument, and Jefferson memorial. I barely broke 90 so it was a pretty average day for me... lots of bogies with a couple of doubles and 5 pars. I'll take it for this early in the season.
