  1. Morning folks! Slow Sunday morning the way we like it. did something to my knee yesterday so iced and heated it feels much better now. Whipped up some hash browns with left over potatoes from dinner the other night. Added in some peppers and bacon and SWMBO is doing waffles for the kids….so had to take one of those too.

  2. Good morning another beautiful morning from the lake. Played too hard last night and am in a fog this morning both view and mind. Going for breakfast and then drive home. Have a great day

  3. Good Sunday Morning Spies, House is quiet this morning, waiting on coffee to brew. The sun is out. The sky is blue. It's 45° now but supposed to warm up to the 70s. Hoping to get to the range but I do have some things around the house I should be doing. There's a truck load of oak trim that needs stained and polyurethaned in the basement. Gotta refresh paint in a couple of rooms before it can go up. Decisions decisions - golf or house!? Have a great day spies!

  4. Morning Spies. I'm excited for the final round at Oak Hill later. Rory and Michael Block will be a fun group to watch. Hovland and Koepka should be like oil and water. Staying home today, no golf because my back is in rough shape. It didn't feel right on the first tee yesterday and I played 11 holes anyway. 15 hours later, I look a little like Quasimodo.

  5. Good Sunday Morning Spies! Beautiful Sunday Morning in Central FL, 78 degrees & sunny. No golf this morning, airport run to pick up relatives! Might get out for 9 holes later today, unless I get distracted by PGA Championship. Played 18 holes yesterday followed by range time, so a bit tired today (can't understand why? LOL) Have a Great Day Everyone!

  6. Good morning, spies. Taking the kid to play 18 this morning then sitting back and hopefully watching Block make a run on the back nine. Gonna be a great day. Sun is out and wind is low. Maybe this will be the day I break 72…

  7. Good Sunday morning. Was up early as SOP for me. Rode over to Church early and did the warm up and run up on the sound. Another guy is running it on the 9 AM so I went back home. Will be back to run for the 10:30 service though. It is raining here again. Supposed to drizzle all day. Played the 9 and Dine Friday afternoon did decent considering we only used 3 of my partners shots. Played as a fill in in the Shootout yesterday. Got invited to play as a fill in in the Homeowners Association event today. I do not live in the community our course is in but was invited anyhow as a last minute fill in. I turned it down as I have church duties and do not want anything to do with the Association anyhow. Normally Sunday is Church day and a rest day for me. As much golf and practice as I have been doing lately I need the rest. Looking forward after Church to settling in for the day and watching the PGA

  8. I'll admit, I took a break for a while. Wasn't sure I'd ever come back, but man am I glad I did. The staff has done a fantastic job on organization, moderation, allowing members to be themselves, growth, development, testing opportunities and the numerous other stuff that happens behind the scenes to make this site really terrific. It's like if you were to take all of the bad stuff on Reddit, squeeze it out and you're left with MGS. The folks here are just really good and friendly people and it's a great mental break from all the chaos around us. Good job fellas! I'll be remembering May 20th next year.

  9. Goooood morning everyone! Terrible rainy day yesterday so I spent the day reorganizing the basement, cleaning out the golf bag, rolling some putts, and relaxing! Got some outside projects to get down now since the sun will be out today, gotta get things done so I clear my schedule for nothing but golf! Have a great day everyone!

  10. After asking you all for advice on if I should keep playing my 3H or change to a 5W or 7W I went to a couple stores to demo some woods. Turned out that for now the hybrid is staying in my bag, just fits my yardage gap and swing better. While I was there I saw this beauty and it was too good of a deal to say no to. After hitting a few and comparing to my old ping g25 the Cobra LTDx LS is now in my bag.

  11. Good morning spies! I was up way past my bedtime and am just getting going this morning. My coffee is delicious and three animals have finally settled comfortably beside me. @rkj427, @IndyBonzo I hope y'all play great today and most importantly, have fun on the course. We have our normal grocery shopping planned for the day and I might head out to the range and hit a small bucket then spend time on the practice green dialing in distance control with the Agera. Now that I'm thinking about it, I might simulate 18 holes putting and do a strokes gained analysis. @Placasse61, I would love to be waking up to a scene like where you're at, its beautiful. I would love to be dropping a line in that water seeing what I could catch. @richk9holes, take it easy today and I hope your back gets to feeling better. I'm going to chill for a bit and try to knock off the brain fog from staying up so late. It was worth it getting to spend time with dear friends talking and laughing. I hope all of you have a wonderful day!

  12. Good morning Spies from a sunny Sunday in Michigan, with temperatures expected to reach mid to upper 70's! Looking forward to my first official round in Michigan later today, and so far everything is falling into place for it to be an enjoyable day no matter what. Hope that your day is the best it possibly can be as well!

  13. Just getting caught up on the forum after my trip. I will echo my thanks to the greatest group of mods @GolfSpy_APH, @GolfSpy BOS, @GolfSpy TCB, @GolfSpy SAM, @GolfSpy_BNG, and @Golfspy_CG2 any forum could possibly have. This is my 10th year and the forum has never been better. Great job guys!! Now keep it up... or else!!

  14. ...LOL, what's ironic is I walk my rounds and imagine the young guys like seefreddy ride in a cart. Can't blame em' as walking to the ball 92 times must be a lot more tiring than 70 times.

  15. Good morning all! Wrapping things up at my in-laws cabin and heading back home in an hour or so. FIL, my wife and our oldest caught a big haul of crappies again last night. Successful weekend of fishing! When we get home, my wife and I are going golfing with another couple for a 1:20 tee time. Most likely just 9 holes unless we drop the girls off at the club and play the back 9. Maybe if we are lucky! either way getting 9 in on a beautiful day. Hope everyone has a great day and will be interesting to see if Brooksy can hold the lead in today’s final round!

  16. Give it time to heal up Rich. I think I made my ordeal, which started in late January and just now turning the corner, worse by powering through the discomfort. This started a "make it hurt less" (and counter productive) swing change that I didn't even really notice. Top of the pot spies . I miscounted scoops last night and the first cup was, well, a bit strong . Threw in another cup of water and all was good. My wife, a little late to the coffee party, even commented on how smooth the coffee was... I just elected to go with that . That's a tasty looking breakfast Mark! Jason, it's time to get your priorities straight. Grocery shopping or product testing... it's not that difficult a decision . 38/43 at Desert Springs yesterday . The back felt a wee bit sore but SO MUCH BETTER than it has been for some time. Have a great Sunday and Go Michael Block, Go!!

  17. I haven't been fishing is a long time; as a kid I would go every weekend with my Dad and as I got older there was a set of ponds a few miles from my house so I would bank fish after school. While Northern Pike aren't native to our area, I am surprised you haven't caught a chain pickerel; slightly different variety but I would think they would be in TN.

  20. Good morning MGSpies from a sunny cool Cleveland waiting for the start of the marathon son is ready to begin with his cousins and uncle. Runner support is my dad role for today before I return to driver dad to get him back to his RIT apartment for his first day of his new internship for the summer. Hope his timing for the marathon is as good as his planning to get it all to work. Hope golf is a part of your day

  21. Good morning, Spies! Looking forward to my first round in two weeks today, and hoping the time off somehow helps!??! Unlikely, but one can dream. We had tomahawk ribeye steaks last evening and dinner outside by the campfire. It was a glorious spring night, the kind you want to bottle and keep. I am waking up today grateful for that. Sending you all best wishes for greet days.

  23. Really enjoyed watching yesterday. As someone who often plays in the rain i really like that the pros struggle as much as I do (relative to skill) in those conditions. Also incredible how different the 9s play. Front is hold on for dear life and just try to get through it. Second 9 is seemingly the only real scoring opportunities.

  25. The course is extremely well prepared and diabolical pin placement is exactly right as it was for rounds 1 and 2. Having seen the course and the greens firsthand up close I can confirm from watching coverage on widescreen this afternoon and evening the TV makes the surfaces look flat and the contours are minimized - there is no easy place to put the pins on any green, returned to Donald Ross's original schematics about a year ago especially for the Championship. The sand traps have steep sides next to the greens requiring precision for shots on with punishing results for errant shots. I heard some off color explicative utterances for missed shots but also witnessed some brilliant shots of pure creativity and talent. It's a good course and challenge to find out who's going to be the best of me best and weather is certainly playing its part to add variety to the variables.

  26. Few points here First There was no problem/defect/flaw/issue with the build other than you can not install a non factory sensor in the end of the grip. Which means the only problem/defect/flaw/issue is yours not theirs. Second Your example of a LOCAL club builder doesn’t work. Takomo is based out of Finland not an hour away or whatever you consider local. Third and most important Your example of your company screwing up and making it right doesn’t work either. Takomo did not screw up from the info you are providing. Again unless the specs of the clubs are not what you requested, then you got what you ordered.

  27. Membership has grown, forum activity is way up, new members are joining and getting involved, new features are being introduced, engagement is way up as well and Member Testing is at an all time high. The Forum is in a good place and I want to give a big shoutout out to the Forum Staff. @GolfSpy BOS @GolfSpy TCB @Golfspy_CG2 @GolfSpy_BNG @GolfSpy SAM The amount of work and efforts this team has put forth over the last 8 plus months to provide the membership with all of these features, tests and just making the forum what it is today cannot be understated. Not only that, but the behind the scenes time they commit to everything on the forum is fantastic. From our weekly meetings, to special meetings with OEMs to get member tests, to goodness knows how many emails every day they all put in so much time it is kinda hard to repay them properly. It has been such a pleasure to work with them and gather their input and ideas and put them into practice. From simple, but engaging threads such as Tell Us Your Best Story thread to Forum changing features such as the MGSVT and not to be forgotten Archived BST all of it has truly helped The Forum become a thriving place each and every day. When we were looking for staff members we wanted those who would be engaged and be active members on the Forum, not just staff members working in the background. I am extremely proud of this group for taking on that challenge and being leaders in the community. You may have also noted I am using the words Forum Staff versus moderators. Of course we all moderate and take care of those duties, but in truth these guys do a whole lot more and as such I do want to somewhat move away from the term Moderator and move to Forum Staff as it significantly better describes the job they do. These guys have truly rocked it and again just want to give a big thanks to all of them here on the forum. It has been and will continue to be a pleasure to work with all of you as we see what is next for the Forum and its Membership. I guess really I want to make this post and maybe today (May 20th) Forum Staff Appreciation Day... can we make that a thing? I think we can. Fwiw I want to exclude myself from this and recognize all the staff above. I have said things like this in other threads and posts, but truly believe it deserves its own thread. Have a great Saturday all and if you see this thread please drop all of these guys a thanks as they do a whole lot more than anyone can really imagine!

  30. I have never caught one and looking them up, they do inhabit some areas around here. I guess none of my lures have never looked appetizing to them. I did once hook a gar, saw it jump out of the water and noticed the distinctive snout as it snapped my line. It kind of made me mad, that was one of my favorite lures it stole. @BKervin, I've never had the opportunity to taste pike, but I bet you can get some pretty good size fillets out of them. I would like to get my hands on some walleye again. My ex brother-in-law caught some at Dale Hollow lake and they were phenomenal!

  33. I love me some bass fishing! Haven't done it in years as I'm a boat snob and don't have a boat. I think we're planning on going sometime this year with friends and bank fish with some friends so their daughter can give fishing a try. I have never caught a pike, they aren't native to this area but have always wanted to. Those bad boys look mean and get huge!

    How'd you play?

Wet day played solo front 9 at +9. Hit 5/6 FW but approach shots were a little off. 2/3 par 3s were excellent tee shots pictured below, 4h from 173y to 3' missed the birdie. 5i from 168y to 8' rolled across the hole missed the birdie. Played the 2 par 5s (#10 and 13) that play toward the parking lot, bogeyed both and called it quits.

  38. Gird up ya drawers for OG's journey down One Length Lane Well, folks I've been busy lately trying all sorts of new toys this year, and now I'm jumping off the deep end with One Length irons. Say it ain't so! Yup, this ole country boy is girding up his loins and hopping face-first down One Length Lane. I'll have some pics and of course, a few videos and such to wet ya whistle while I travel down this road. First of all, I waited for the correct set which will make the journey as smooth as possible. I found what I was looking for with the COBRA KING LTDX ONE LENGTH IRONS 5-PW, GW GRAPHITE KBS PGI SENIOR 1* UPRIGHT setup. This had me licking my chops like a stud coon hound pup hopping at the opportunity for his first Friday night treeing. This is what they looked like right out of the box. Nice and shiny still in the plastic just waiting for me to do like my old coach said when I had my face planted on the 50-yard line. Throw a little dirt on it and get ya arse back out there! I will give you a little tidbit to naw on as I took the supposedly hardest iron to hit (5 Iron) out to my backyard net, and was whacking that sucker like a momma whupping her red-headed stepchild for stealing her hot peach pie. It felt good, really good but the proof of the pudding will come tomorrow morning when I take these puppies out to the range for their maiden voyage. Stay tuned now ya hear!

  39. Y'all want to see another one? In other news, I went to the range today and spend time on the putting green afterward. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on the full swing clubs except to say, they're pretty awesome. I hit all of them fairly well and can let you know the Forged Tec X are forgiving, I was pretty much living on the heel all day. I'm going to need some time focusing working on strike. The main thing I went for was spending time getting to know the Agera. I love the look of it and like the feel, it's just I have a slight lack of confidence in it, especially on long putts. I really have no reason to other than I am so good with my current gamer. I'm a high handicap golfer with a mid handicap putting game. Today was all about simulating 18 holes of putting from different lengths and comparing them to the last putting handicap I had in Arccos (17). I hit putts from 6-39 feet today and put them in a strokes gained putting calculator and here's what I got. I'm right at my handicap putting so far. I think that'll get better as I go along, or at least I hope so. I love what Cobra is doing by venturing into the putter market and how innovative they are by doing 3D printed putters.

  40. Cool cool cool… You sure this wasn’t what was actually shipped? I could see with your age it’s easy to confuse those things…

  41. ... BTW CFreddie, Cobra must be backing my team as my replacement fairway wood heads arrive tomorrow. They sent the Aerojet Max instead of the plain Aerojets I ordered and I don't want to throw anyone under the bos, I mean bus but it was an honest mistake and Cobra took care of Team Chisag. If you would like since this is my 2nd fairway wood shipment, I can PM you pictures so you can see what Coba clubs look like.

    How'd you play?

Played our informal company outing at River Heights yesterday. Me, Owen, my dad, and Owen's friend David. Beautiful weather. My drives kept switching between really solid and squibby tops. Irons were actually decent; while distance wasn't there, they were mostly on target. My putting was great, I hit twelve putts. My dad won one of the closest to the pin holes with a five wood, ha! We had four birdies and a bogey. Winning team went six under. Great day and we're hoping to do the next one late July.

  47. This is what it looks like so far. There still is a lot of filling in that needs to happen. But at least it’s doing something. This is cut at .4 inches. If I bring it down to 1/4 it will really show how much filling in needs to happen. You actually putt on the tips of the grass as you can see the blades are laying over making it look fuller than what it is. When I started the project there was a very good amount of sun. But now that everything is full with leaves there is more shade than sun. All greens need full sun or as much as possible. Time will tell if this is worth it or not. But unfortunately this is the best location for a green. Worst case is I have a chip to location. Probably the best scenario is I go artificial again. I just really didn’t want to get into that again. Plus with tall pines around the sap dripping onto artificial turf could be a problem.

    PGA Championship 2023

If Michael Block can hold onto T8 position, he would win $535,000. How cool would that be? He is playing really steady and seems to be keeping the surreal scenario from overwhelming him. And, just his luck, he draws another even keeled, cool, Englishman, Tommy Fleetwood, as a partner for the final round .
