  3. Pretty sure I have mentioned this before, but wanted to add this in as well. We have a ton of tests this year... as in we are roughly half way through what we have scheduled. This means there are still a lot of opportunity to test, but also for some who have applied and have yet to be selected there are times we feel there are tests that would be better fits down the line plain and simple. It is truly a very difficult balancing act for us, but want to assure everyone that gets engaged and involved in the community that we do our best to make sure everyone gets a chance at testing. This also means that we do our utmost best to ensure that a member does one test per season, so before signing up for any testing opportunity be sure that it is one you really want to do, because if selected it will likely be your selection till the following season!

  5. Good morning all! (for real this time) Jackson did great playing up in the next league last night. He walked and stole two bases in the 3rd and then hit a line drive single to centerfield in the 4th, stole second, walked to third, and scored on a single to right. He fielded a few balls in the outfield too, and had a great time playing with some of the bigger kids. Big night for him tonight as we have our first playoff game and he will be our team's starting pitcher! #playoffs

  6. I was very happy to see that the bags have been shipped when I checked my email this morning and saw the invoice. Thanks Bryan for making this happen! I'm excited to get my Jones Trouper R in Le Creme with the MGS Forum member logo. My current carry bag is about to fall apart... Since I'm only 220 miles from Jones Bag Co. in Portland, OR, that probably means that I will be the last to receive my bag.

  8. Good morning all, inching closer to Friday. For whatever reason, this week has absolutely dragged and it feels like it should be Saturday. Longest 4 day work week of my life. Up at 4am (thanks to my youngest, who at least went back to sleep ) and to work at 6 to dig in for an 11 hour day. Need to mow parts of the lawn after work today, but we are on a hot, dry snap in my part of the state and can't mow certain areas of the grass where it has gone slightly dormant as I don't want to kill it off. Currently no golf on my weekend plans, but I am trying to be patient with that and biding my time as once the Cobra challenge kicks off I'll be playing a weekend 18 plus a couple 9 hole rounds each week for that. Did I mention that I think it should be Saturday morning and not Thursday morning? @OdinSnipes414 have a blast on your trip, man! Sounds amazing!

  10. Good morning everyone! Not much going on here in the a.m. except drinking coffee and chilling with the dogs. I can't think of a better way to start the morning off. It's a wee bit cloudy outside this morning but with no threat of rain. We're planning on running around later to donate clothes, take some books to a used bookstore, and put some things in storage. I think I might have to sneak in a range trip along with all of that. @OdinSnipes414, that sounds like a long drive from WI, I made the trip down there once from here in SE Tennessee and it took a minute. A friend of mine wanted to pick up a table from his mom and needed someone with a truck to help. I hope you enjoy your trip and play some good golf. I hope all of you have a wonderful day!

  11. Good morning MGSpies on a sunny and balmy WNY Thursday with hot coffee in the mug while considering what needs to be done first so this post wins out and deciding next is the problem but it is all work so gotta start with one iron having so many in the fire. Good to see everyone getting out and having the experiences we live the rest of the year to get to do. PGA HOPE session 5 of 6 this evening at Niagara Frontier GC is my golf activity for the next 24hrs - yesterday after work was a moderate to slow 18 playing the front 9 twice as league play and some foursomes that started in the hour before we did must have been enjoying themselves too much to rush, or had nowhere else to go, at times looked like they were deciding players shots by committee Hope golf is a part of your day May was packed with golf adventure, let's see what June has in store!

Good morning i have been up made coffee let the dog out watered the plants in the front of the house before the sun comes over the houses across the street (we have no shade trees I front). On my second cup of coffee, going to do a lite workout as I’m going to be shoveling wood chips that we use for mulch. No golf today, playing tomorrow morning early. Next week is three days of golf. 13. Good morning Spies! Hoping to pick up my reshafted irons today for the second time, and try them out in tonight’s lesson. The first time the builder’s younger colleagues got over-eager and regripped them before they were cut down, so back to the shop they went. Fingers crossed these are the ones for me. FABWIFE and I had an alarming encounter with one of the most vile people on the planet the night before last. Sparing you the details, discretion and valor and whatnot, but it is truly amazing what some people believe, the hate in their hearts, and what they will say and do when grappling with their own demons, insecurities, and intoxicants. Suffice it to say, it was bad in many facets, for a prolonged period with a grand disastrous conclusion, on an epic scale - and FABWIFE was still shaken, sad, and upset last night. It was tough to experience in real time, and it’s tougher to see her deal with the emotional impact. May you never have one of these experiences. So, I unloaded that on you, eh? Not to bring you down, just to marvel at a fellow (alleged) human. It sounds like a beautiful day for most of you. Enjoy your golf trip, @OdinSnipes414! Hope you all get some golf in, and have a stupendous day!

GM & Happy Thursday. No golf today, SWMBO has another outpatient procedure today so I’ll be in a waiting room for the morning. I did a bit of dethatching lawn yesterday and probably do another section when we get home so I can stay close and keep an eye on her. Looking forward to Bacon Boyz tomorrow.

  17. Good Morning Spies, and what a morning it is. Look what showed up last night. I had no idea it was coming as I didn't receive a package notice. Keep in mind these photos are under a super bright LED, but boy can the blue on this thing shine in some sun. Only going to post these for now as I want to save some of the fun for @azstu324 @StrokerAce @cksurfdude .

Oh I know how you feel---- 2 weeks ago I had played 6 days straight and my big butt was whipped. I have to keep a notebook do I forget what I signed up for. I did a tally for May and I came up with 15 rounds, 2 Shootout rounds and as of last night 2 Nine and Dine rounds. Not too bad 18 rounds. Retirement is great. This is what I had planned on my retirement to be it is just coming 3 years late

  20. There are very few people I am happier for when they get an opportunity like this than you Chuck. Once of the nicest and best-mannered golfers I've ever met. Here's hoping it finds you a few more acorns for my fellow blind squirrel in NC next week

  21. ^ That. I've witnessed that also and it's one of the things that's held me back from getting involved in league play..... Maybe my opinion will change, and yeah I understand it's team collaboration and strategic planning, but from the outside looking in it sure looks weird on the golf course imho! Anyway .. happy getting closer to TGIF all!!

I have always built my own clubs. When I decided to switch from my beloved classic Macgregor blades to graphite and CBs I had considered those. Still considering those. Right now I am so much in love with the irons in my signature I have not seriously considered anything else. I had did a trade deal on those like 3 years ago and they were pristine. Played them some when I was recovering from my accident. Put them back for a while and played my classic steel shafted blades. Pulled them out 2 months ago and been playing them mostly since. As far as this area most folks play golf and that is it. They care nothing about knowing more on the game. Most buy big name brand equipment mostly Ping and Cally

  23. Intro I’m a mid-handicapper, #GirlDad, and 40-year old desk jockey. One of my personal goals for this year was to find ways to be more active doing things I enjoy. The first thing that came to mind was getting back to walking on the golf course. Prior to purchasing the Clicgear, my only experience with push carts was with the crappy rental ones at the muni that my stand bag would never stay on. Needless to say my bar was pretty low. I was specifically looking for the following: Non-motorized push car Compact enough to fit in the trunk of a small sedan with my clubs Works with stand bags and cart bags First Impressions (4 Out of 5 Stars) My first impression was “Awwww crap, this looks complicated. I better setup/takedown this thing a couple times before I go to the course so I don’t look like an idiot in the parking lot.” Turns out it’s really simple after a couple of repetitions. Initial thoughts were that it feels really well made, and will last a long time. Here is a picture of it fully set up: And one with my stand bag loaded up: I’ve since gotten a truck, but at the time of purchase I drove an Audi A4, and this fit in the trunk alongside my clubs with a bit of finagling. Didn’t get a picture of that, but here’s a photo next to my bag for reference. And one standalone of the cart fully broken down: Aesthetics (5 out of 5 Stars) I opted for the Silver option which looks great. It looks modern, definitely not your grandpa’s push cart. I’d say that it also looks sturdy and stable which is reassuring. All of the moving components look durable, which makes me confident that the cart is going to hold up to some serious use. If I had to do it over I might select the flashier red or blue. On The Course (5 out of 5 points) The cart has been a joy on the course. So far I’ve walked four 18-hole rounds with it this season. The brake is easy to access and engage/disengage. The handle has adjustable positions to give access to all of your clubs, and the neck adjusts to accommodate different bag styles. Both adjustments are intuitive. The straps are very durable and do a great job holding my stand bag in place. I do have to tighten them one or two notches past what I thought initially, but once I did the bag stays in place the entire round. I haven't had any issues on hills other than one extreme side hill where things started to tip. Probably shouldn't have taken that route in the first place. The storage compartment is good for odds and ends, spare balls, etc. The standard mesh cargo net is a good spot for a Rangefinder and other loose items you want easy access to during the round. The Good, the bad, the inbetween (3 out of 5 points) I'm going to pick some nits here. The cup holder that comes with is fairly useless. You can fit a can in it, but it's pretty tight and will crush a normal 12oz can. A small hard plastic or metal water bottle would work out fine. I ordered the XL cup holder, which easily accommodates a 20oz Yeti Rambler or a 30oz Zak tumbler. I'll probably order a second XL holder. The other thing that feels lacking is a standard cell phone holder. There's an accessory on their site, but got pretty crummy reviews so I didn't order it. Tried out a holder made for a bike, but that lasted a couple rounds before snapping off. I use Arccos, so having my phone easily accessible and not in the cargo net would be beneficial. Conclusion All things considered I would definitely recommend this cart to anyone that wants to walk the course. I've really enjoyed the experience of walking again, and this cart met all of my main criteria. My only knocks are on a couple of the accessories, and I think I'll figure out solutions to those soon. Final Score (17 out of 20 points)

  24. ... I have some advice for anyone struggling with 3 putts. Ignore the line. Sounds radical but it isn't. I am not going to go into my personal philosophy as I have posted it many times but next time out try this: 1. Take a look at the general line of your putt. "kinda straight" or "breaks right or left". It doesn't matter if kinda straight actually has a few inches of break or if your breaking putt has 3, 4 or even 5 feet of break. Just get a very general idea of looking at the line without studying it. Then ignore it. I would add whenever you are a little unsure of how much break, play more. When you play more break your putt is always breaking to the hole, not away from it. But again, you aren't really concerned with how much break, just a general idea of that break. 2. Your only thought is speed needed to reach the hole. You are ignoring the line and all your concentration is on the speed. You are trying to develop a feel for different speeds of uphill, downhill, sidehill and flat putts. 3. Ideally, if you can get to a practice putting green, drop balls for all the holes and putt to all of them from one spot. It is an excellent way to develop feel for distances. Initially it may be a mental transition to ignore the line but once you see it, it is engrained in your brain and I think many of you will be surprised at how close you can get the ball to the hole just thinking of speed.

  25. Early up and at 'em, MGS. Getting ready for a 12:45 tee time at Gambler Ridge, playing with my father and 2 friends. This is the 1st full round I've played since throwing my back out a couple weeks ago. Hoping I make it the entire 18.

  26. Morning all! Got my coffee in hand, a cat sleeping in my lap, an apple to snack on, and some Coheed and Cambria cranking as I prep for my 11am meeting. On the downside, I forgot my charger at the office! I am in the process of running Windows updates on my personal laptop, as I can't VPN in to the office until it's fully patched and updated. Fingers crossed it finishes updating before my work laptop runs out of juice.

  27. GM Y'all !!!!!! Looks like some great things are happenin' in the land of MGSers. I'm sure the bags will be AMAZING!!!!!! We've had nothing but rain here lately and more forecasted through the weekend. At least that'll give me the opportunity to catch up on the smoked meat orders I have kinda piling up. Looks like the smoker is gonna be working overtime. Oh well, I'm sure there'll be a few morsels that I can use to "test" for "quality control". I hope that y'all that get to play, have great rounds w no surprises(unless they're good ones). The rest of us get to have yet another day in the "fantasy factory"

Good morning Spies, for what should be my last full day of work this week. We start "Summer Hours" where we can work 1/2 day on Friday, provided no meetings or customer requirements interfere. My plan is to work from home on Friday's, saves me a couple hours travel time, and all but guarantees me 1/2 day of working. That should allow me range time in the afternoon, to stay sharp for planned weekend rounds. Have a great day, make it the best it possibly can be, no matter what you may be doing.

  38. Many people in this thread compared the walking vs push cart and that using a push cart wasn’t walking. I received fee this information in my email this morning and figured I’d post it here. It is from Golf Scoence Lab; don’t try to start an argument with me about whether the study is valid or not. I am just posting as information about the segment in this thread that considers a push cart as taking a cart and not walking and how carrying your bag may impact performance. Research Rundown: Push Cart vs Carry Let's settle this debate with some research... pushcart vs carrying your bag. A recent study suggests that it could be influencing your swing power, and here's how: The study had male and female golfers in a three-mile walk, carrying their bags in different ways: no bag, push cart, single strap, dual strap high, and dual strap low. At quarter-mile intervals, they performed vertical jumps, and researchers studied the peak force and time to peak force during each jump. The result? The push-cart method showed consistently higher peak force than all other loaded conditions, meaning using a cart may better preserve your lower body force production and thus enhance your swing power. On the contrary, the dual strap high condition showed lower peak forces, especially towards the end of the walk, indicating possible instability and strain on the lower extremities. In short, the way you carry your golf bag matters. And what you need to remember is... take a push cart next time. You can find the full abstract over on the Golf Science website here:https://www.golfscience.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/THE-EFFECTS-OF-GOLF-BAG-TRANSPORT-STYLE-ON-VERTICAL-JUMP-KINETICS-Samuel-Wilson.pdf

Don't know if this is meant for this thread but I will post it anyway... Hi everyone, just a quick update on my conversations with golfers I have bumped into about Tacomo irons, usually I start the conversation "are you familiar with "mygolfspy" forums? I would say at least 60% are familiar with it and one golfer in particular participates in conversations, most check on the site for reviews etc. Then I seque to my opportunity to test the irons and almost 75% go directly to their site and take a look at them, they, as well as I, are very much looking forward to being able to take the irons on the road with me this summer to work on getting them into my bag, I am sure I will get lots of feedback. It has been great to see feedback on "youtube" and that "mygolfspy" ranked my irons as the 3rd best "players" irons on the market. Another interesting thing to me is that I am looking more closely at other premier players irons and what they are playing, yesterday I saw one of my oponents chipping with a beautiful iron, went over and checked his bag and he had older titleist MB's. they looked like they had been refinished.

  40. The family and I got the bedrooms moved a little while ago. My biggest concern was getting our King mattress down the stairs since we had a rough time when we moved it up there. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, gravity was on our side. It was just a little tricky folding it to get it under the ceiling where the stairs come down. IIt's going to be different sleeping back in our room, it's where my mother-in-law slept before she passed, but it was past time to get back down there. Mostly I'm going to miss my sister-in-law's cat, he's the brother to my wife's cat and doesn't come out of the room. He's definitely a hermit. When we moved houses, he hid for 3 days and we couldn't find him. I'll have to go up and visit him a lot, he's a sweet cat. I'm just glad you have that done as it was my biggest project on the Honey Do list.

  43. @Kenny B a couple of shoe brands I've experienced with great customer service & warranties are - Ecco, New Balance & Sqairz. Sqairz customer service really impressed me & all three really stand behind their shoes. Footjoy Contours are great in dryer conditions & last too. The worst customer service is Sketchers, I'll never buy another pair of their golf shoes. Nike brands, I found were not durable, especially if you walk a lot golfing.

  44. Hey Midwest! First time caller! I joined a week or two ago and am working my way through the forums, and found this intro thread. So here it goes! I look forward to meeting other Spies! How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing golf since about 6th grade - I learned that moving to 7th grade I could join a team, so I got started. With the exception of a break during college & my early twenties, I have been playing ever since! Back then when I played daily I got into the high 70s, low 80s in scores. Today, playing about weekly I have about a 15 handicap, averaging about 90 or so. What do you love about golf? I love the game! It feeds my perfectionism side, where every shot matters! Sometimes that bites me though and ruins a round! Ha. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? The reviews and authenticity of the reviews! I was searching for the differences between golf balls and found MGS's ball lab. Then from a fellow Spy, I learned about the forum, and immeidately got started! Where are you from? What is your home course? Fishers, IN - Purgatory Golf Club What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best - cooler springs & falls for golf! Worst - the winters! Golf from December to February is hard to play! What do you do for a living? Software Engineer How’d you pick your user name? Q22 has always been my gamertag. So I have begun adopting it to ther usernames.

  45. I had a basement business in Edmonton building clubs for folks. I would take my customers to a driving range, check out their swing, and decide the shaft I thought would help them, it was quite eye opening to work with all these different types of golfers, I purchased the components from Hireko, and basically put them together in my basement, I stopped in about 1998 but had fun for about 5 years...
