  1. Decided to go into GolfTEC to burn one of the lessons that I knew I shouldn't have bought... (First one I've used and I'm already 3 months into the 6 month expiration window). Figured I'd just do a swing tune-up and bash some 7 irons. After shaking off the rust by chunk-hooking some short ones, the wow factor came back. Maybe they had the monitor (Foresight?) jacked up or at a high altitude setting or something, but supposedly they didn't. Using a Titleist Tour Practice ball, I was mashing 7 irons with 190+ carry and 5700+ RPM of spin (that's 1.5-2 clubs longer than my JPX Tour and with "good" spin numbers considering the ball). Dispersion was reasonably tight too - I just wish I swapped in a different ball to see the more realistic numbers. Days like that give me hope for the upcoming season and make me want to sign up for tournaments... But I'm sure reality will set in soon enough, and I'll still be "around 80" (I'll just have more fun getting there with that added distance). Gotta reiterate the thank you to both MGS and Titleist for this opportunity -- without the testing opp, I wouldn't have even considered swapping out my Mizunos, but these are looking like a much better fit for me.

  2. So, partially out of laziness and partially out of just simply not needing it, I have been setting up the net without the roof portion at all. I've mostly been hitting 7-iron and longer recently, so absolutely no risk of hitting anything over. Set up time to move the net and hitting mat from its resting place next to the house and putting the net up is all of 35 seconds.

  3. So a box arrived shortly before Christmas. There are a few unusual things that I might detail out in my review, but needless to say I was surprised when I opened it up. As special as a Honma Beres driver is to begin with. These are some extra special ones. Took mine out for the first time today (wife is a fair weather only golfer) and initial thoughts are positive. More definitely to come!

  4. I played 9 holes today and had another really good round with the 2 Ball. I had 18 total putts and gained 0.29 strokes against my putting handicap. That's not lighting the world on fire, but considering I haven't hit a golf club in three weeks I'm ecstatic. What really surprised me was I was killing it in the 23+ foot range where I struggled during the testing period. I gained 1.02 strokes in that range. Had a couple of 3 putts, but that was more user error than anything.

  5. I wanted to give an update as well. I mentioned in the review I had not seen much improvement on course from the net. However I have played since then and I can say that is not true any longer, at least for a short sample size. I had really worked on pure contact with the net and it paid off yesterday. Made much better contact and was even able to shape the ball decent some. Will continue to do the same drills in the net and see how that correlates to the course.

  6. Our Honma Beres drivers just arrived and they are a work of art. Almost to nice to hit. Mens driver on the left is a Honma Beres 2 star model with 10.5° loft with Honmas ARMRQmx shaft, R2(senior) flex, length 46” with a swg.wt. of D1. The ladies driver is a Honma Beres Aizu 3 star model with 12.5° loft, ARMRQmx shaft, L flex, length 44.25” with a C2.5 swg.wt. Face is almost to nice to hit. Same face on both drivers.

  7. Finally got back in town and was able to use the net with my “contact stickers” which I’d never used before. Gives good feedback and made the net more fun in my opinion. Still trying to just focus on short swings with good fundamentals and solid contact.

  9. I've played on a simulator a few times over the last month after taking a few month break once the cold settled in. I forgot how much I like how these irons look!! I liked them when I originally opened the box, but have grown to appreciate them even more the more I play them.

  10. I know US based hard goods lines have mostly dropped pink from their color palate and tried to move into the more gender neutral color schemes.

  11. Wow, that's a serious paint job. Do they all look like that or did you choose a design? Certainly, that would spark a conversation when you take the head cover off that thing. And look at the mirror finish of the face! I would be afraid to use it. Looking forward to how it performs for you and your wife.

  12. I'm glad to hear you finally got it in and it looks absolutely nothing like what I would have expected. It's different, but in a good way. I can't wait to see what you think of it and have fun testing it!

  13. It does and is similar to what my teacher has me focusing on - baby swings progressing to large ones at half speed and then full ones where my thought is to throw the clubhead into the center of the net.

  14. Just taking smaller swings with just my hands and focusing on solid impact with wrist delofted or bowed if that makes sense. I was using way too much body and a long backswing so that’s semi specific to me, but it’s finally starting to kick in.

  16. What drills are you doing? The one my instructor gave me is so simple - make little swings without the ball and brush the mat, then do the same thing with the ball until making full swings. Like you it seems to work although I’ve had very little time on the course or even full range.

  17. I thought I’d give this a little bump with a week to go until Christmas. I’m playing tomorrow and have had no time to get to the range - huge church services Weds night and yesterday morning, staff party yesterday afternoon, funeral today, church tonight and tomorrow means no range time at all. So I pulled the net out. Took less the 5 minutes to set up and I got a half hour practice session in doing a drill and hitting 9 irons and 7 woods - I feel like I have a chance to hit the ball in the air towards the target tomorrow because of it! This would make a great present or be a smart after Christmas buy if you get gift cards.

  18. Just a post review follow up.... Played 18 in 40* temps today after about a two week layoff and was still getting great distance and tight dispersion off the tee. The only thing I might change is to get the 10.5* instead of the 9*. To me it had a slightly closed look to it so I opened the face a click lowering the loft to 8.25*. That's a little low in the loft arena with my 100mph swing speed & I could probably benefit from some added air time by starting with the 10.5* and opening a click to get to 9.75*. I'm still very pleased with the performance and highly recommend including the Sub70 in a driver comparison if you are in the market.

  19. Decided to re-grip my #7 today. While I liked the odyssey standard grip, my SuperStroke 1.0 pistol which I’ve used for 6 years was calling my name.

  20. Nice! I haven't been able to use the net the past few weeks, but I did pick up something for it that I'll have to share when the weather clears up a bit here.

  21. Golfholics with Rapsodo did a 20 or so minute video as a course vlog using the MLM. Interesting video and worth a look if you enjoy their content!

  22. It seems like more manufacturers are following initial release of the clubs w/ personalization options. Taylomade with their Sim2 drivers and putter and wedge makers of all sorts also offer custom stamping and color schemes. I hope we see more and more custom options. Ways to express our personalities through custom design and colors can't be a bad thing. Of course, we will be charged through the nose for the option. pakman92

  23. They all look like that with this edition, just a different base color for the different star levels. The one they sent for my wife is VERY pink. She's not the biggest fan of that, haha.

  24. In Southern California for Christmas and snuck out to Pelican Hill this week for a round with the #7 in hand. It performed fantastic! 1 3-putt and 5 1-putts en route to 30 total putts and an 81.

  25. I was hitting it lower, but a change in tee height has improved launch. I’m really happy with the trajectory, just need to remember to change my aim on the tee. Hope your shoulder comes back well, make sure you do your rehab religiously (talking from experience here)

  26. For anyone considering playing the Maxfli balls, MGS sent out a coupon code for 40% off that brings the price to $21 / dozen with free shipping at $99. That's a pretty crazy price for the Tour/ Tour X. USE CODE: MGS40OFF

  27. Still getting used to the 849 Pro. Definitely enjoying it. My ball flight has changed to a reasonably consistent high gentle draw. I got into trouble a few times during my last round by taking the wrong line. Starting left edge of the fairway to allow for the fade doesn't work with the draw! 20 mph wind from the right didn't help either. Getting good distance, and continue to be impressed with how it performs into strong wind. Spin must be low, as I'm yet to see any hint of ballooning.

  28. I have an Ortho appointment in Jan for my shoulder/neck ..going to try to take the winter off but it is hard ...hope your shoulder gets better

  29. Well, as much as I wanted to take the T200's out a couple of times, my new role has me in meetings it seems like forever. Now, I've developed a pain in the shoulder and neck area so my golf days are going to be over this year until I can get in with my Ortho. Jealous of those of you still playing! MDGolfHacker

  30. I can't believe how many problems people have! I have Gen 2 sensors that sat around in a drawer for 2 years before I even tried them out. They have worked nearly flawlessly all season long. I put tape over the ends and in an opaque bag for the winter but fully expect them to work fine when I reinstall them next season. I sure hope that's how it works, anyway...

  31. 6 replacement sensors arrived yesterday and I spent the morning setting them up. The bad news is that 1 appears to be faulty. I then played a round and the good news is that Arccos recorded every Wood and Iron shot and only missed 4 short putts which is a huge improvement. Playing again on Sunday so hopefully the trend continues.

  32. I've got a round on Sunday, so we shall see. I only have 3 rounds with it so far, so the caddy feature doesn't work yet.

  33. I found my gapping results were very similar to my gapping analysis on the GC Quad. I think the Arccos is actual real world on the course distances so it should be even more accurate vs 10 shots on a GC Quad with each club. My Driver, FW and Hybrid were off between 3-5 yards for avg distance vs “Smart Distance”. Obviously GC Quad provide other data like carry yardage and ball speed, but Arccos provides another great data point. So hopefully you will find the same thing. Please let us know.

  34. I had the same change! Ball flight is lower and with a draw vs my normal fade. I haven’t been able to get out for a month due to my shoulder but should get back into after the new year
