  1. How about this one from today? Confirmed the distance on Google Maps: a shot just under 270 yards (with a definite downslope), to within a foot of the cup. No ace, but my first regulation eagle!

  2. Just got back out on the course over the weekend after an accident with a golf cart put me on the DL for nearly two weeks... Like an idiot, i was trying to reach over and unhook the passenger side clasp for the windscreen while driving down the cart path, instead of just waiting for 15sec when i would have stopped by the green on a par3. Being the fat ass that i am, my stomach caught the wheel which suddenly made the cart do a 90 to the left. I got thrown out of the cart and landed on the path with basically all my 300lbs onto my left elbow. But it was my arm's impact into the left side of my ribs that caused the real problem. Some very painfully sore ribs but thankfully i didn't actually break any. Could'nt hardly sleep the first couple nights. All in all though, I was extremely lucky to walk away with just a few cuts on my elbow and some bruised ribs. I guess all those years of drinking a lot of milk finally paid off...

  4. Ok, i feel dumb at the moment. Remember that Evnroll putter hosel i messed up? Well, its a ER2V so the hosel itself is removable and replaceable lol. So i didn't completely wreck the putter.

  5. Had a buddies weekend to celebrate each of us turning 65 this year. Played great on Friday and shot 72 - best round of the year actually. We played in a large charity scramble on Saturday - tons of fun - nice swag - we had a side bet with the pro at my buddies club - we needed to break 67 or make 7 birdies. I hit a beautiful 5 wood on our first hole - a 190 yard par 3 to about 20 feet and bang first putter knocks it in. I hit a great drive to 100 out and a good wedge to 15 feet and boom second putter knocks it in. That was the last time that I was heard from for the next 9 holes - so frustrating - too much to drink the night before and they had some sort of booze give away on every other hole at this outing. But as a team we kept. Then as quickly as it left, I found it again, striped one down the middle on a par 5 and someone put it on the front edge - birdie to get to 6 under. Dogleg left around a pond and I flew some trees on the corner leaving us 70 in, wedge on, birdie. We used my drive on 6 of the last 7 holes. Shot a respectable 8 under after a lovely 6 hours on the course - went home and slept for three hours before the poker game…. That ended up with a double or nothing bet with the pro who played cards with us - our scramble team from the senior tees verses him from the men’s tees and he got to play two balls - but we got 3 call backs. Match play We closed him out on 15! Great weekend, good, bad and ugly golf, tons of fun. I’m up at 430 this morning because my body aches all over - I could use a recovery day but it’s back to work for me. The course we played the Saturday round on is one I haven’t played in a while. It really reminded me of how much distance you loose with age. They had everyone play from a set of tees shorter than I would normally have played from in former years. On most holes that meant we were driving it where I used to drive it from much farther back. Oh well, at least I’m upright and can still play.

  6. Well it's the weekend and time for another adventure from Yellow Ball. Yellow Ball has been watching a show on TV call Big Sky so I thought I would share a little bit of my adventure in the Big Sky state with @fixyurdivot this past season. You know his season is pretty close to being over now so maybe this will refresh his memory of one day in his glorious golf season. He took me over to this course called Beaver Head. For the first time Yellow Ball was scared. Why did they cut the Beaver’s head off? Hell, all I have is a head. What are they going to do to me if I don’t behave? Me, behave, that’s like asking a bear not to crap in the woods! Hey…What’s brown and sits in the woods? ….. Winnie’s Pooh! Sorry some YB humor there. While on the course there was a house nearby and I could see a golf bag on the deck. I know what happened to the beavers head! Do you know why @fixyurdivot stated that “fairways are over rated”? Well now I know, it’s because he’s hardly ever in them! Come on guys just a little further. You can almost reach me! What’s with all you guys and water? You get on a par three with water and it’s all over. Nice double there buddy! I’m starting to get tired of the life vests I think I’m going to have to go full scuba gear soon. I’ll have to put that on my Christmas list. I'm sure it will come in handy for next season. We get on the next par three and it’s a beauty. Luckily no water. 206 yards long into the wind and he pulls a 3 wood and comes up 10 yards short. He hits another and comes up 10 yards short again. I couldn’t contain myself any longer! I switched his head covers and he was actually hitting a 5 wood. The best part was he thought he mixed up the headcovers. Then he called himself a dipshit! Need I even comment here? For a course in the “Big Sky State” the course was pretty flat. Looked simple enough to me but obviously it must have been a little tricky because a lot of his approaches were short and right. The good news is that it is close to simulator season for him now. At least he won’t lose a ball there!

  7. We're finally beginning to settle in here in Florida. Last time I played was back in Ohio several weeks ago, today was the first time playing in Florida since last year. The Bermuda fairways and greens took a bit of getting use to - but overall not a bad 88. 46 going out and 42 back in. This birdie on a 150 yd Par 3 helped the score.

Daughter had a blast riding the boat and driving! also set up some of the beard products I’ve been making, got a couple samples to my barber and friends if anyone is interested in trying out let me know!

  9. I got out today to play nine holes and do some testing for the Odyssey White Hot OG putter test. Shot a 52 today, but the star of the show was the putter. I had a grand total of 12 putts. I chipped close a couple of times, but holed putts from 26 and 31 feet along with hitting one from off the green that was 18 feet. I shut into more detail in the testing thread. As far as ball striking goes, it was an on and off day there. The driver showed up in the middle of the round, but it left me at the bookends of the day. Irons were decent, I few shanks that first showed up during the warm-up on the range. The wedges were about the same as the irons, I hit some absolutely great shots and some that were atrocious. I can't complain, the work I've been putting in is starting to show up on the course. It's a nice confirmation that with more work my game will continue to improve.

  11. Here is the video I made while testing the wonderful… Edel EAS #4 putter i was lucky to be making the video on the same day the putter caught fire, and I had my historic 23 putt day. A few of these putts are from off the green, so in my world, they don’t count as a putt, as they are shots that could have been taken with a wedge or whatever… go check out the testing page for the Edel EAS putters, it’s pure money…

  12. Been a while since I have been in here. I got a $100 gift certificate to my nearest golf shop from the wife for my birthday a few weeks ago. I had to take her over to a few doctor appointments and decided instead of waiting in the lobby I’d sneak over to the shop and pick up a couple dozen balls with the gift certificate. Well something may have caught my eye before I made it to the balls. I ended up walking out with a new Sun Mountain C-130 cart bag. Before you even ask, yes it matches the MGS Driver headcover perfectly. Lol.

  13. A cold spell found its way into my area. 40 degrees this morning but I still had the calling. My great run of low rounds came to a screaching halt today. I'm going to chalk it up to playing with a jacket on. I only hit 7 fairways and 8 greens in regulation. No birdies, no double bogies, or three putts. I managed a 79 but it felt much worse. My normal straight drives down the middle decided to fade into the right rough on quite a few holes. Then when I compensated I hit it straight and it went into the left rough. All my clubs were shorter today than normal. No biggie I'll get it together for next weeks round. Got to remain positive!

  16. First day of hopefully 5 rounds at 5 different courses. Played a course I haven’t played before, it was either awesome or awful, with not much in between. Started with a birdie, then it was a bit ugly. Irons were awful and short game was very rough. Multiple misses on the short side didn’t help. Highlight was driving the green on a short par 4 after playing through a group of 4 locals, they were suitably impressed. It was my Sub70 849 Pro, I’ve tagged it as a 2 wood during testing.

  17. That's why Tony wanted me to carry around a flag! First, @tony@CIC is losing his memory when it comes to what I look like to everyone. I think he needs to re-read my very first post. It's ok it sucks to get old. But yes, I am a master of disguise. I even managed to do a dis-appearing act on the plane when that big guy sat on me. ohhhh bad flash back there! Second, Tony's eyes must be going as well. That's why I have to carry around a flag when I'm with him. Third, His hearing must be going as well. I call out and he never hears me. Fourth, I can only hope he isn't playing with a senior flex shaft in his driver! If you know what I mean! I don't need to know the answer. But they make a pill for that. Just trying to be helpful here!

  23. 76 this morning on a cool day and soft course. No birdies only 1 double when I hit a drive ob on #3. Feels like a fantastic score, couldn't have played much better. I played with my buddy and his wife, who are not great, but I always play amazing when I go with them.

  26. Played Country Club of Virginia today in a Pro Am in a tidy -1. After my tee shot on the first that almost went into the parking lot (made a nice par) I settled down band played well for the day. Our pro asked me on 14 why I don’t do this for a living so I take that as a compliment. Overall it was a fantastic course with the toughest greens I have played in a long time.

  28. My thoughts,, Dear MIL, I've seen Frick and Frack play and I think it would be best if I take them out on a public course a few times first and work with them on rules and educate them on country club etiquette. I wouldn't want them to do something that might reflect badly on you. Especially being a new member at the club.

  29. Went out this afternoon as we got a surprise nice day. I have this spot on my lower right side that can get stiff, but today it was totally locked up. I could rotate back but then kind of got stuck and couldn't rotate through the shot. I couldn't swing anything longer than a 5i today. So I moved up to the forward tees and just played. I wasn't in pain with this swing so I got the 18 in. Back to the chiropractor on Thursday.

  30. Holy Spectrum.......my internet went out AGAIN. 4th time in 2 weeks? Maybe more. So I called the support person and told her I rebooted both the modem and the router. Her comment. "what do you mean both modem and router"? I explained the set up (which we received last year when we moved in) and that I had 2 service guys out in the past couple of weeks trying to fix it. She said we haven't used that setup/type of equipment in quite a while - "you said they were in the house and they didn't update your equipment"? Supposedly, the new router is arriving today.

  31. I think this happens to all of us from time to time. Life has its ups and downs weird events like you’ve described occur and subtly, without even realizing it, there’s an impact on our desire to play. I don’t know when your season ends - is there enough time to plan a round at a special course and then work towards playing it? That often kicks my desire for playing back into gear. Good luck

  32. Ok, i guess i should tell my story since I alluded to it. There were multiple factors at play that led to my mishap. I was trying to pull the Fuji MCI wedge shafts from my Edel wedges. Should be an easy job, i pulled like 10 graphite shafts in the past couple of days and have pulled a lot of shafts in general, so im not a newb. So tried to pull graphite shafts with my Mitchell Commercial shaft puller. Wouldn't budge, regardless of the amount of heat applied. Decided I would sacrifice the graphite shafts and twist them off, knowing that the shaft may break at the hosel, I knew that would likely happen. Normally, after breaking a graphite shaft, I would drill it out, not an issue. So the next factor that piled on was that the Fuji iron shafts have "Metal composite technology", so there was some sort of piece of steel going right down about the middle of the shaft. So attempting to drill in the center to create a pilot hole was a not going to work well with that piece of steel there. Yep, so ended up wrecking the hosels trying to drill out the remaining shaft. So in summary, the factors that led to me destroying the wedges were: 1. The shaft wouldn't budge at all. This part didn't make sense 2. Couldn't drill out the shaft properly because of the "metal composite technology" in the shaft 3. There may be an issue with my Mitchell puller. It has seemed not as strong as it used to be and i have needed to apply more heat than normal recently. Sending it in for Mitchell to take a look. I am also buying a Reverse Thrust Puller and will sell the Mitchell once its deemed ok or is repaired. The Reverse Thrust Puller is the strongest puller on the market. My overall frustration is partly because of wrecking the two wedges, but also because I take a lot of pride in high quality builds, especially since I am taking on some club building work as a side business. I will chalk it up as a learning experience, I am sure all professional club builders have screwed up something at least 1 or more times in their careers.

  35. Yellow Ball is a master of deception. Not to mention, a master of finding my way home. In my early years I was molded into the Ball that I am in an Italian neighborhood and looked forward to celebrating the feast of St. Joseph every year. On a side note, I have some eggplant parmigiana and chicken parmigiana with homemade sauce in the oven right now. Now that we have part of my upbringing out of the way! Ok I see your trying to be cute with the bunny look. Nice attempt, but you can't expect me not to come back at you....What kind of New Yorker that's a NY Yankee's fan in their right mind would publish a photo of themselves with the logo backwards. Sacrilege...... try reversing the image on a selfie or find a friend to take your photo. Wait a minute the southern New Yorkers aren't that friendly. Try reversing the image! Maybe we can get together again next season. Bethpage Black hint hint! I was there, but nobody would take me out on the course. For some reason they think I will bring them bad luck or something! Dam bunch of pansies.

  36. While I have been able to get to the course to hit some pitch shots, I had not taken a full swing for a month before yesterday. Hit a few on the range and it didn’t seem that bad. Then I got in the course and it was terrible.. 8 FW, 2 GIR, 34 putts, 5 lost golf balls. I didn’t add up the score until I was writing this and was surprised I broke 100; ended up with a 97. Overall, it was a frustrating and mentally draining round. I didn’t take the month break for any reasons other than I was out of town and rainy weather. Part of me wants to get out, practice and figure out what I need to do to improve and part of me is just done as I really didn’t miss playing that much. Need to figure out a plan to work on my game and get myself back into gear.

  39. ... Yellow Ball has reached a new low. Evidently a Tennessee fan, he threw himself at Lane Kiffen during the game: One of those things was a yellow golf ball (who brings a golf ball to a football game?) that seemed to hit Kiffin while he talked to a referee.

  40. I keep trying to kick this wedge out but every strike is just pure center so I decided it was either my delivery or approach. Thanks to my pro on Thursday we decided it was my delivery. Hit 100 balls or so today before I played and well it is now back off the waiver wire. Every shot with it is just dead nuts center.

  41. Okay, so I have Osteoarthritis in my fingers and bilateral carpal tunnel. Friday, my OT taped me up with K tape, from my Palms to my elbow and said i5 should last 3 days. So I wore a pair of gloves to keep the tape attached to my Palms. This destroyed my feel on chips and putts. I missed 3 birdies by fractions of an inch and had a quad(4 putt)….Ugh! Shot a 47/45:92 using my backup clubs(Wilson Triton, Bombtech 3W, 4H, PowerBilt 5W, Patriot 7W and Hogan irons/wedges). All things considered, I had a good round. Full swings with 5h3 Hogans were terrific. Driver & Fairways were great, Hogans were like butta.

  42. Got called to play Wolf today at the other course in town. I have not been hitting the ball well all week, and my right shoulder is still sore, but what the heck!! Stunk up the first hole, but being Player 4, it didn't cost me. I won the 2nd hole with a birdie, so started feeling a little better. My turn to Wolf on #4; lost the hole to a guy that hit his 3rd shot to 3 feet and made birdie. My next turn came on hole #8, a very downhill par 3; hit middle of green, but left the 25 foot uphill R2L birdie putt 2 feet short... push. My next Wolf hole was #12, a dogleg left uphill par 5. I reached the green in 3 shots and was the only one to make a par. On #16 a blind tee shot I split the middle and on the green but missed a downhill birdie putt that should have broke a foot... but didn't! Another push. #17 and #18 are reserved for the two players down the most quarters... I was up 5. I totally screwed up both holes; finishing bogey, double but the other guys saved me. I was happy shooting 40/42 for an 82, but shoulda, woulda, coulda broke 80. Next time.

  43. Let me tell you a little something about Yellow Ball. I might be small but I'm one tough SOB. Just look what you guys try to do to me on a daily basis! The last time a gator decided to swallow me it didn't turn out to well for the gator. This dumb ass swallowed me and then I got so pissed that the Red Ball came out in me. I gave that SOB a slow death from the inside out. By the way fresh gator is fantastic! I came out a little extra red but it washed off. I couldn't come out brown as they don't poop. They completely dissolve what they swallow. Even bone. Just statin the facts but nice try. Brown Ball.....Please!

  44. “Adele” has been glued to my hands since I opened her box upon delivery. Easily the best putter I’ve ever used Two observations.... 1. What are you doing with what looks like a down vest on when your location says SoCal and there are palm trees in view?? it was 48°!! Crack of dawn. 2. Who was playing in front of you that didn't fix that ball mark 1' from the cup on the 4th hole? right??? I was first out, so it was left-over from the day before. I fix millions of them, as well as empty 3-4 sand canisters every round. A few of us early birds fix a lot, as we play almost daily- the visitors seem to care very little about gouging our track I'm noticing the ball mark after playing this past weekend at a high end course in OCMD where our foursome fixed between 10 - 20 ballmarks on every green. The greens there were really scabbed up and did not putt true at all. it’s pretty sad the way some people have no problem gouging the track, then leaving it for others to repair- a few years ago I saw a guy in a drunk 4-some behind me miss a short putt, then slam his putter into the green in disgust- needless to say we had some words and they did their best to repair the extensive damage- so many just have no respect…
