That looks familiar! I had the same pattern show up as a scuff when hitting a clean shot on quite a few balls in the last 5 dozen I bought. I don't see the pattern out of the box like you do though. On mine it seems like the paint comes off the edges of the dimples in that same pentagon pattern.
I know they had ball durability issues with what they called higher swing speed players but my driver ss is only 100 at most.

This will be an exciting project to follow! We have a synthetic green in our backyard which like yours has heavy clay, poorly draining soil. Our solution was to create a raised green with a layer of 2" stone topped with a layer of 3/4" stone topped with crusher run topped with stone dust. A swale behind the green catches surface water and routes it to a small waterfall stream beside the green.
It has been there over 10 years and works very well, only the heaviest rain has any puddling on the green and it drains away within 30 minutes. Obviously your top layers would be different for real grass but you may want to consider some stone layers at the bottom to promote drainage.
I will say this was a great project for us (me!) as it gets a lot of use throughout the year. It is fun to clear it of snow in the winter and hit some putts on a warmish sunny day in February with snow all around you! It has a rubber membrane under the grass layer that can accept wedge shots without bouncing like they hit concrete. So I can practice up to 60 yard shots which gets me to the edge of the trees on the other side of the yard. It was worth the $$ to put in and has cost me less over its lifetime than a boat or motorcycle would have!

I am not a gear head. Help me out here. Wouldn't shortening the shaft also affect the lie angle .the loft of the club? How would that work? Would that require some adjustment to the adjustable head, if the club has that feature?
Lie angle would be affected by the shorter club but not loft.

I start with 6 gamers in the bag and might end up with 3 or 4 that i find that are worthy to keep around.

It doesnt take much to fall back to the pack. A simple slip on some steps (DJ), wrong step in a hole or slippery cart path (BK) can tweak a knee or back and throw the swing timing off. A new baby and family life can take time away from your schedule pretty quick. Or like in Duvalls case maybe dominating the game loses meaning and mentally he checks out enough to become a mere mortal on the course.
I dont see anyone making a run at this point and if he does fall back it will be a flavor of the week at the top.

Since these were written by “younger” people, they missed a key component to keeping a single digit handicap. That’s health. Age and injuries are major hurdles, at least for me.
AMEN to the pain management!!
My swing changes week to week depending on the physical challenge. The most common due to back issues limiting turn is a trail foot slide and spin that makes me look like Scheffler and Players love child!
The other one showing up this year is left shoulder & arm pain that makes a 3/4 swing the max.
I just play the swing of the day and aim left to allow for the ugly ball flight to get back on target.

My draws seem to run out more than my fade.

A Sunday Like No Other! Collin has a great chance if Scottie struggles. Hard to tell if that happens. Scottie looked fairly solid despite 10 and 11 today. Should be great on TV.
I don't think Morikawa needs Scheffler to struggle in order to win, he has two majors himself and his iron play can be at least as good as Schefflers. I was looking for his rank in putting this week but haven't found it yet to compare to Schefflers rank at 36 per @cnosil .

We really need a last place prize as well @Golfspy_CG2.
Even if its a sieve of Callaway Warbirds or something like that.
I think a certain infamous Odyssey putter would be an appropriate prize for last place!!

I'd like to hear JT's and Harman's post round interviews. I've done a brief search and not found any as yet. Certainly the playing conditions will be mentioned as a factor but I wonder if one or both chose some aggressive shot choices they now wish they hadn't?
Also, I had not heard JT and Bone's parted ways just prior to the event. Count me amongst the many who thought this player/caddie pairing would prove to be a really good one. The press quotes are the typical flowery stuff but there has to be something more not being shared - and that we may never know. In any case, making the change the week ahead of The Masters seems like poor timing.
I hadn't heard about the JT & Bones split either! I didnt pay attention to who was wearing the caddie coveralls in the TV shots.

With a +6 cut line i was surprised reading through the full leaderboard that the highest score was a +15 for both rounds. 83 was the highest 2nd round score i saw posted which isn't too bad considering the field average for the day. Usually you see a couple guys that completely lose their game and concentration in conditions like that and are north of 85.
Also... JT must have gone brain dead at the end of the 2nd round, he was +7 on his last 4 holes. It would be interesting to hear the conversation between him and Bones to see what Bones said to try to bring him out of it.

I was going to say 13 but all you guys on 13 will have the tee box backed up. So i think i will play 12 three or four times while you guys are tying up 13. With all the commotion on 13, they will never notice me looping back ro the tee box a few times.

I have it on my irons and hybrids to get swing weight to exactly match. None on my driver since i can get various weights for the G410 to put in heel or toe locations. None on my current set of wedges....yet!

It was the first night of play in the 9 hole league. 6 pars, 1 double and 2 bogeys got me to a 40. I hadnt played in over a month and hadnt touched a club for about two weeks so my expectations werent high. My opponent really struggled so even without playing anywhere near my league handicap of 1 i took 7 of 9 points. So i am are off and running - playing my weekly 9 now!
