  1. Nice review and I completely agree with you about the Scotty Cameron Head Covers! They kinda suck with that split velcro BS... You pay upward of $400 for a putter and get this velcro head cover... when other MFGs with cheaper price points have nicer magnetic covers... I don't get it.
  2. The Sun Mountain Sync bag is made for push carts... It was reviewed on MGS, surprised nobody brought that one up.
  3. What information is required to plug in for TGF? I have my distances but I don't know my swing speed launch or anything like that...
  4. I grabbed a box of them, I'm going to give them a try this weekend. I like the visual in theory as I seem to struggle to locate my ball half of the time.
  5. So, I just put the JumboMax JMX Ultralights in the medium size on my irons, FWY and driver last week. I hit them some at home into my net for a few days prior to my round of golf on Friday. I went to the range and hit a few buckets to get some more time with them prior to my round. Before I get into the grips, this was the second round of golf for me for the season and I just resumed playing golf late last year after about a six year break. My first round of the year was abysmal! I stopped even keeping score after the first few holes and about two sleeves of balls! So, now to the grips... They take some getting used to obviously, I've pretty much played medium grips previously. I wear a large glove so I went with the JumboMax recommended medium size. While the grips by no means made me into Bryson, I was hitting the ball much straighter than usual. Even when I mishit the ball it was going in the correct direction. The biggest change for me was driving the ball. Since resuming playing golf I've been spotty with the driver, I can slice it one minute, and pull hook it the next, however, last week with an old TM R7 425 TP I was either in the fairway or playable in the rough on almost every drive. The biggest thing for me is that I broke 100 for the first time in like seven years with a 96! That is HUGE for me. This may all be a fluke but I'm sticking with the JumboMax JMX Ultralights. I'm going to order some more for other clubs I'm getting.
  6. I just ordered some (15) JumboMax Ultralight Medium grips to try out. I've played mid size grips and standard grips with two wraps predominately but I'm also in a tinkering mood as well as experiencing some arthritis in the hands. I was originally planning on trying out some Winn oversize Dri-Tacs but decided to just go with the jumbo max's. I'm hoping for the increased consistency a lot of people claim as well as a more comfortable grip. Fingers crossed that this doesn't end up as an expensive experiment... OP, as to your lack of feeling I've read a lot of reviews about that sensation with the Winn grips. You could probably alleviate that if you went with something like a Jumbo Tour velvet or a similar oversize rubber grip...
  7. I'm not sure if it qualifies as "equipment" but I'm considering the switch to JumboMax grips... After my last round of golf and feeling that there was just something off with my control of the clubs I started researching new grips and found a lot of positive reviews of the JumboMax Ultralight. I ordered some to try so we'll see...
  8. I agree, but usually Ping waits longer to come out with new versions for this reason. It surprised me when they came out with the 425 on the heels of the 410 because of the incremental improvement nature of their releases...
  9. From what I have read the 425 Max just doesn't perform any better than the 410 Max so there may be a lot of Ping players that figure there is really no reason to buy the newest model (Myself included). On the accuracy front, personally, I'd always prefer to be in the fairway and short as opposed to in the rough or OB long...
  10. I don't think there is a set point that you need to transition. I've known really good players that used game improvement clubs. I think you should play the clubs that fit your game the best. Your skill level doesn't necessarily translate to which club you "should" play. How you play, weather you need forgiveness or workability, your misses, etc., etc., should play more into what type of clubs your playing than your handicap level.
  11. I use a traditional grip, though I have flirted with the idea of a "claw" grip and a reverse grip but I cant do the reverse grip at all, the "claw" grip is something I may try at some point on the course.
  12. This might help... TXG did a video on which matters more, the head or the shaft... A lot comes into play on what the answer is, if the R11 was fitted to you in the first place then maybe a new shaft could be helpful, but if you purchased it off the rack and neither the head or the shaft were fitted to you then its really a crap shoot as to weather or not one is going to make more difference than the other.
  13. I swapped my three wood out for a five wood years ago. I cant hit a three wood off the fairway to save my life, and I'm not long enough with the driver that I'd need a three wood for shorter distances. I just find the five wood more useful all around.
  14. My current favorite is the Scotty Cameron Phantom X12. I must have tried 20 putters when I settled on it, it lines up well and gives me a lot of confidence. I've always wanted to like the classic blade putters like the Newport but I can never line them up well...
  15. 6'2" 35" putter. I've used both 34" and 35" putters through the years, but 35" seems to give me the best eye line.
  16. Thanks, I've been looking into the equipment threads for a long time, its one reason I joined.
  17. I devote money to clubs and shoes, for clothes I usually get the Grand Slam brand from Khols. I feel they are every bit a comfortable and good looking as way bore expensive options.
  18. I’m a watch guy! I’ve had Omega, and Breitling in the past. Currently have a Rolex Submariner Date and an Apple Watch 5. I wear them both a lot, today I wore both at the same time! I’d rather look at my Sub for the time and use the Apple Watch for tracking everything and notifications when I don’t want or have my phone.
  19. My feeling has always been, your belt needs to match your shoes. If your wearing black shoes, wear a black belt, brown shoes, brown belt, and so on. The more classic saddle style golf shoes that are white with black or brown leather could go either way but I usually match my belt to the saddle color. All white, or predominantly white shoes, wear a white belt. That said, golf is the only occasion that I would ever wear a white belt, in fact I only own one white belt and it is exclusively for golf when I’m wearing white shoes.
  20. Hello all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve been looking at MGS for a while off and on, mainly checking out equipment reviews, I’m an equipment addict... I decided to join as I kept seeing posts I wanted to comment on, and figured what the heck. Ive been playing (and I use the term “playing” loosely) golf for 13 years off and on. I’m coming back to the game after a long hiatus. I hadn’t played in about 6 years until recently when some guys I work with kept asking me to play. I finally gave in and now I’m hooked again! Went out and got fitted for new clubs, got some new clothes and now I’m back into it deep... As to my handicap, no idea, I haven’t even kept score yet, since coming back. I plan on taking the rest of this season to tune up and hopefully be more serious. When I was playing quite a while ago high 80s to mid 90s was pretty normal. I’m retired Army and currently work for the Army as a civilian. I was stationed in IL (lived in IA) when I retired and like the area, so when I saw a job opening I came back. Currently in the Quad Cities. i don’t have a “home course” Palmer Hills is the closest but the guys I play with like to go different places all the time. I’m hoping to get my game back in shape so I can play TPC Deer Run next year... The thing I love most about golf is that one or two shots during a round that makes you feel like Tiger Woods and keeps you coming back, no matter how bad you played the rest of the round.
