  1. The mental game you speak of is interesting. I sum it up more in confidence. Confidence plays a key role because execution of the shot intended either reinforces or diminishes your confidence. I would go further to say most amateurs fail the execution of a shot, so the memory of that poor shot results in many adjustments to attempt to regain the confidence they can execute a shot with success. The short memory of poor execution comes with confidence that the next shot can be executed with success. So the mental game is the process of maximizing repeatable results. The mental game starts with knowledge built from experience, instruction, and practice ingraining confidence that one can execute the shot when it presents itself. It reminds me of hearing a pro caddie saying to his player, "commit to the shot." I remember Tiger talking about hitting his "window." The opposite would be a "hit-n-hope" approach built on a total lack of confidence which leads to tentative execution and a failed result - always second guessing. Confidence in approaching a hole layout and knowing a solution of a shot you can execute results in a confident swing with either a positive result or not. In the case of a skilled golfer there is confidence even in the miss where many times the player knows what caused the negative outcome. This is still confidence, and it allows a player to conveniently forget poor execution on a previous shot. A friend of mine was a tour player for a short time. His definition of when the game became most fun was when he would come up on a shot and he had multiple ways to execute the shot to pick his desired result. The idea of draw, fade, knock down, or flop are examples of different shots in a repertoire of a skilled player. I heard Jason Day, in a TM YouTube video, saying he practices an hour and a half everyday on short game. Repeated successful execution builds confidence. And, confidence removes hesitation. Anyways, I enjoy the game more when I am confident. I am most confident when I practice well. Even without practice I am confident that my game is not as good as it could be, so I still enjoy playing even when the scores are higher than I like. I can see the lack of confidence in my friends when they play which lead to some crazy scores. This is my opinion of the mental game from my observations and experience. I do not remember hearing it or reading it anywhere exactly put this way. I might get blasted or applauded for my viewpoint. My goal is only to offer my opinion as my viewpoint. I'm curious what @DaveP043 thinks too?
  2. Can you imagine Bryson and Berkshire teamed up at a President's Cup or Ryder cup event? I saw a video of Berkshire's where he was talking about size and how he feels being 190lbs, instead of 230, gives him better speed and more stamina. We will see if Bryson keeps this extreme weight gain up?
  3. A link to his YouTube channel https://youtube.com/channel/UCE3jCX0g7xq4zRE5MS5c_mw A couple videos I enjoyed:
  4. Hello fellow Spies! I have been really enjoying the videos from Kyle Berkshire on YouTube. He is a Long Drive Champion who is looking to make a poke at competing on the PGA Tour. He is making Bryson's distance look like child's play. His swing looks to have simple movements that help him make consistent impact = fantastic. It just seems he needs to work on his putting . I am personally a fan, and I hope he has a chance to make it on Tour someday.
  5. A friend of mine had put them on his irons. I was able to try them out on the range. It took about 10 swings before I adjusted to the "feel" of them. I was able to hit some good shots but I was not a fan. If you are looking to have a completely different feel then there you go.
  6. It might be easier to make the punches deeper to press in the stamps instead of filling them. There is a risk of going through the finish, but using a punch you can press in the old stamped letters to be flat depressions. However, sometimes the story of who had it before is worth doing nothing at all. And, there is always adding more letters to make it your own.
  7. I play what I find and I don't wash them anymore because Covid has caused the courses to remove the ball washers. What I have noticed is how dull my ball is in the fairway compared to some of my playing partners who are playing new balls. Their white ball is pristine white and stands out like a light bulb compared to mine. It does make mine a little harder to find at times. If I ever showed up without balls, I would but a dozen Titleist Trusoft, Callaway SuperHit, or Precept Laddie Extreme which all have performed well for me in the past. I also would be walking the treeline and searching for balls throughout the round.
  8. I hear you loud and clear. I actually love older equipment from about 20 years ago, so I buy it and learn how to score with older tech because it's all about enjoying the round more than anything. My most recent purchase is a Ping ISI Tour laminated maple 1 wood driver which I am really excited about. It is the last wood driver to be used on tour as late as 1996. Anyways, I know a young player who had a Krank and he loved it. He wishes he didn't replace it with his TM Sim but he is sponsored now. His dad is his coach and a PGA member (not tour player). This young man is definitely getting a full ride scholarship and will be a contender for the PGA Tour someday. All this to say, the reason he loved that club so much is because he hit it out of the center every time - because of his talent. And when he did, there was nothing but awesomeness and a loud hit. I didn't like hitting next to him because it was so loud. He had no problem hitting out to 320 carry on the reg. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I hope you find a power move that will make whatever you swing launch like a rocket .
  9. There are a lot of "new" posters on this thread that All seem to have something positive to say about this shaft company which seems a bit like a plant to me? I am a bit skeptical and I hope I am 100% wrong. @cnosil @HardcoreLooper im not sure who the moderators are to tag them?
  10. This looks alot bigger than the towels I see in the golf stores = huge.
  11. You might see some new releases at Kapalua!
  12. I always wondered if they just took it from their hotel room shower?
  13. I would go as far to say the question is slightly flawed for the reasons others have stated. The question of how many bad hits a driver is good for seems more the question that matters? Sky the ball one too many times and the crown cracks. Heel the ball one too many and the shaft breaks. Hit one too many in the woods and you will want to throw it away. Watch one too many balloon on you, fall out of the sky, or top it... Etc. Lastly, hear "You're away!" Too many times and you might think it's time!
  14. Low point control is a good way to put it. I like to feel like my wrists are not trying to elevate the club head at address to prevent the club from being able to go lower than at address during the swing. I get a feeling of the club weight hanging freely without muscle tension, and come down to the ball from there before starting my swing. Great mental image of low point control!
  15. I have seen a few YouTube ads for the Acustrike Impact Training Mat - basically a velvet-like material that will show where the club touches the ground during the swing. Has anyone tried it or have any feedback on it? I have been struggling with poor impact lately, and I thought it might be worth a shot. I know my impact condition is a result of a core issue that a device like this will only show the symptom and not the cure. However, the idea of instant feedback is appealing. I found a couple knock-off, direct from China copies of the official product for about $16-18 delivered, so I ordered one. Has anyone tried the knock-off or original version?
  16. Glad to hear Ping is replacing it! You definitely have a good swing speed and are gaming good quality balls. You're probably right that it was just a defective head. I have known friends who have cracked heads with their 125-130mph swing speed and a friend that is around 90mph so it isn't always speed. Off-center strikes were usually the culprit.
  17. I would not look into changing the battery type until it is time for a completely new cart. That what the charger and all can be included at the same time.
  18. This screenshot is from TM P770 specs showing standard length is 37" for a 7i. I would double check that the order was indeed for +0.5" because the error could have been from the person placing the order. However, if the order was clearly for +0.5" then TM should have record of it, and they should honor what was ordered without question. +0.5" should be 37.5" for a 7i.
  19. I have seen them in OC at La Habra Costco. I'm more of a Maltby fan than Kirkland. For people who buy off the rack, I'm sure they will be happy
  20. This is a great deal https://www.callawaygolfpreowned.com/other-brands/club-type/wedges/ping-glide-2-stealth-wedge-2017.html?cgid=other-brand-wedges
  21. Those look like cool sticks. It would be fun to game them Somebody will get a cool set
  22. The way you described the Iso-T it sounds allot like the TM SLDR reviews? I'm gaming the Callaway XR16 9.0° and I struggle with spin being too high and not consistently finding the center. In general, the Callaway clubs feel lighter to me. There are two other lower spinning options like the Pro and Sub Zero but I am not keen on the light feel. I was/am hoping the Ping 400 LST would be the magic club. I hit the G400 Max and Std models when they came out but the spin rates were still too high. That's when I switched to the Titleist AVX and ProV1x or TP5x for my longest drives over 300 yards. The AVX is an instant extra 20 yards for me.
  23. I've been thinking about the Ping G400 LST - what Maltby driver would fall into the lowest spin category?
  24. The moment you realize you're the oldest person in the room... You feel old. The moment you realize that all the people on TV seem so young... You feel old. When a young person says something and you scratch your head and go, "I have no idea what you are talking about" means the younger generation is out of reach and you've lost touch. When you start a sentence, "Remember back when..." You just sealed the deal-you're old. "Those have gone up in price so much..." Dating yourself... I do all these and I'm only 44. I can't even imagine how my parents or grandparents must feel!!!???!!!
