  1. If you're interested in the Balvenie Portwood, grab it of you see it. It is no longer available in my world.
  2. I tell customers all the time that if they want to dive into single malts, start with the Highlands. They are less peat driven and the flavor profile is more fruit, honey, and bready. Some solid options to start with are Glenlivet 12, Glenfiddich 12( tastes like fresh pears), and if you feel like you want to treat yourself, Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14. It's aged in rum barrels and is on the sweeter side. As referenced by Silver and Black, the island single malts typically have a smoky, peaty characteristic to them. An exception to this would be unpeated Bruichladdich Scottish Barley. You will, however, get some briny notes from being on the ocean. Another great dram is Oban. I think it is the best of both worlds in the sense that it is a coastal highland single malt, so they roast the malt with some peat, but you also get the seaside influence in a highland whisky. The best part about the journey, is the journey itself.
  3. Happy Birthday. Have a great one.
  4. It did. We had a family round with two of the kids and my wife. We were fortunate in that it was about 65 degrees yesterday, overcast and showers. Stay cool in the PNW. This heat you all are getting is a bit unprecedented. I talked to my dad last night and it was 113 outside of Eugene, OR at 6pm. Crazy!
  5. Thanks everyone for the birthday wish. I'm still getting closer to 50 than 40. Dammit!
  6. All of the above comments are spot on. I would also suggest that if you find something you like or are wanting to try, don't wait to grab it. Items that I used to be able to get on a regular basis( too many to mention by name) have become allocated and I get allocations periodically, if at all, especially when it relates to bourbon or rye. Needless to say, a large chunk of time is spent trying to keep my shelves from being empty. Happy hunting!
  7. You may be in possession of the only bottle in existence. It hasn't been available for about 4 years. I was only able to get a single case of the Bourbon Mash before it was pulled from the market. Crown got in a little bit of trouble for calling a Canadian whisky by the name of Bourbon. Cherish that one!
  8. Let the deals begin on the search of a U500 head to do a build on. Thinking 17 degree head and a Ventus 9X black hybrid shaft.
  9. I played in a Clubcorp event a handful of years ago at Pinehurst. It was prior to the #4 renovation, but 4 was supposed to be in the rotation and was taken off, as it took some damage earlier in the that summer. We played #2, #6, #8 for the tournament and snuck in additional rounds on #2, #5, and #9. 36 a day in the Carolina heat was a workout, but so fun. I would do it again in a second. I didn't jump into the TT event due to timing, but have a great time. Breakfast in the Carolina lodge is a delicious experience. Service was top notch as well. Enjoy!
  10. I'm really looking forward to using this training system. While I have been putting better over the last 12 months since switching back to putting left handed, there is serious room for improvement. My goal is to consistently be under 30 putts a round. We will see how it goes.
  11. Same. If you head into the southern part of WY, I'm always game. Thanks!
  12. We really like the San Diego area. I'd never live there, but it's great to spend a few days at a time. We can just relax and not have to be anywhere. The kids and I are going to play Goat Hill Tuesday and are going to look for another place before we head back. I hate to admit this but still haven't made my way to Montana. One of these days. I need to come up there and fish, but running a business and life seem to get in the way. I hear it's beautiful there.
