  1. I played this a couple of years ago and it is a cool hole. I agree, you have to play to the island fairway, if only to say it happened.
  2. I watched my 16 yr old daughter do this exact thing when we played last weekend. There is a par 3 on our home course that has a 100yd long green; which is about 20 feet wide in the widest spots. It's shaped like a giant hourglass. Wind was blowing into her at about 35mph and from on the green, she played a hybrid bump and run from 100ft, to 2 ft and made the putt for a par. I asked her why and she said " I didn't think I could hit a putt that far into the wind and get it on the right level." Brilliant play. She played the last three holes 1 over. I was really impressed with her thought process.
  3. I also joke a little about this because I've worked really hard on my game for the last year. My index is the lowest it has ever been, and so I thought, since I'm playing fairly well, I'd enter the US Amateur this year. The qualifier is played at my former home track and it would be a good chance to really punish myself. Then I see that a college freshman that plays out of that course made it through local qualifying for the US Open. What am I thinking? I see some humble pie in my future.
  4. Let me work my way back up to a 6, and then let's find a tournament. Haha! I only comment as I think we all live and die to some point about this silly game we love.
  5. It looks like the ferrule is loose and the epoxy is broken. Check for two things: 1. Is the club now a little longer? This would indicate that the shaft is separating from the adapter and the head will eventually fly off. You can also check to see if the shaft wants to spin in the adapter/ 2. Does the ferrule slide back into place? Could be as simple are a little glue to put the ferrule back into place. If you're not comfortable with doing your own troubleshooting, take it to a repair guy. Good luck.
  6. Mueller and Johnson&Johnson are a couple of other brands. I bought a box of J&J that is 1 inch wide. Works great for fingers and is narrow enough that it does not bunch up around the knuckles.
  7. It depends on the heat gun. I have a metal funnel shaped cap that focuses the heat. I also don’t crank up the temperature.
  8. Agreed. I only use a heat gun for shaft pulls, since it does't get that hot. He must have gotten it glowing for that to happen. Ugh.
  9. Plus 1, and what an odd place for the wrinkle to occur. Was he using a flamethrower? Sorry for the bad luck there.
  10. Going 1/2 inch long should be 1 degree upright to spec, so this may be part of the reason the fitter left the lie as standard.
  11. I will keep an eye out for the follow up. For me, I don’t have access to a launch monitor, so the only data is self compiled on the course. Fairways, greens, putts, etc. Historically, I was consistently hitting half of the fairways. With Ventus in my driver and fairway woods, ( I don’t alway hit driver from the tee, due to layout) that number has climbed to 81%. In addition, in the last 12 months, my handicap was as high as 7.0 and is currently 1.6. There are additional factors at play, but being in the fairway hasn’t hurt. I started making shaft changes in June of last year. These changes have given a huge confidence boost. Point and shot. Hopefully, you see similar results. I have noticed that more and more pros are playing Ventus.
  12. I too am curious of your long term impressions of the Ventus shaft, once you get to play it. Personally, I play it across the board and have never found a shaft that I hit as correctly as this. Even with the mis-hits, the dispersion is second to none.
  13. Hello, I took a look at the shafts that I have and the Project X hybrid shafts I have are both 6.0 Black. They were in a 2 iron and 3 iron for a while, so the were pulled. They are clean but have been cut to length as well. Let me know if there is any interest, but I do know this doesn't match up to what you are specifically looking for. Thanks, Ben
  14. Which shaft was in the Titleist? I may be able to assist as well.
  15. Leupold is an exceptional company, with exceptional customer service. I have owned binoculars, scopes, and rangefinders and if there is an issue, they fix it. I had a pair of binoculars, that for lack of a better term, had been used(abused). I broke off an eye cap on an antelope hunt and even though that model had been discontinued, they were replaced with the current model. I actually just purchased a second rangefinder for one of my kids for competitive golf due to the reputation of their customer service. Similarly, I have also had a good experience with Zeiss, but due to the fact that their rangefinders measure slope and additional variables, I do not use for golf anymore. It had to be substituted when I started playing tournaments again and I automatically went with Leupold. The optics are second to none.
  16. I’m going to second this. Picked up a KM 006LH from an authorized dealer for under $400. Older new stock, not the new putters with the larger graphics. Came with a Nippon NS Pro shaft.
  17. Laramie, WY. We're looking forward to spring.
  18. This is roughy a 24 hour total. Glad it's over.
  19. Let the dig out begin. It finally stopped snowing last night. Here is a photo of the drift in the back yard.
  20. I will be playing the Titleist Pro V1 and only the Pro V1. I've put the Pro V1x through the paces, as well as the Bridgestone Tour BX and found them to be too clicky.
  21. I use Golf Pride CP Pro midsize with 3 extra wraps on the bottom hand. I also wear a cadet XL since I have large hands but not the hands of a piano player. I originally went to midsize to prevent the left miss. Blisters are never an issue, but I do get a great callus on my left index finger.
  22. I completely agree with the Projectr X Hzrdus Black Smoke feeling board. If you are still searching and interested, The Graphite Design Tour AD-GP has a stiffer butt section, along with a stiff tip. I played it for about 18 months. That being said, at the time, my tempo was crap and for a shaft that wasn't supposed to go left, I could make it happen. The same could be said for Project X T-1100. Ultimately ended up in the Ventus with Velocore and problem solved. I will say that the Tour Ad-GP felt great and I still have one or two in my garage. Best of luck with the hunt.
  23. I haven't seen this but the tees that both my previous club, and the one I'm at now, use biodegradable tees. I think they are actually corn resin based. I don't personally use them, as I use wood. I break all tees and go through 12-16 tees a round, but don't like how the ball comes off of plastic. Typically, when I break one with a drive, I use it on the next par 3. I also bought a box of 10,000, as my kids both play. It should last a couple of years and I got a great price. I would fully support banning plastic on a golf course. I use a refillable insulated bottle anyway.
