  1. Best week of the year! cut: +1 low amatuer: Santiago De La Fuente
  2. Man there are so many that could go into the worst list for me but lets try to narrow it down: 1- Callaway Rogue ST LS driver. not so much because the driver was bad but I bought it off the rack at Golf Galaxy because I grooved like 7-10 balls in the bay with a baby draw (at the time not a normal shot shape) 2- a big list of training aids I've tried. My worst being a knock off tour striker (I think) little blow up ball that hangs on your neck. absolutely hated that thing. I gave it away when I sold a shaft. 3- Tinkering with way too many driver shafts... I love to tinker and try new things. So I constantly have swapped shafts out of my driver and woods... 4- Cut golf balls. the ball itself wasn't that bad but man that cover was awful 5- Founders Club golf bag. I really liked the thought of having a bag with the fully separated top that keeps all of your clubs from banging together. Its a good concept just not a good bag. Much prefer a stand bag now. Best: 1- PXG Blackops Driver. I absolutely love this thing. I went from the rogue to a PXG gen5 and decided to upgrade to the Blackops after reading all of the reviews. I could not be any happier. I stole the heavy weight out of my gen5 driver and have two heavy weights in the front. This thing is a missile launcher. 2- Ping Hoofer stand bag. Looks great and is very versatile with the bottom it has. great for carrying, pushing on a cart or strapping into a cart. 3- Mizuno Hot Metal 921 irons. These were the first iron set I bought myself new from the local shop. I have played them for about 3 years and decided to try something with a little less offset this year but these with the shaft optimizer that Mizuno offers gives you so many options without an upcharge. 4- Graphite Design tour VF 5x driver shaft. Tried this on a whim and cut/built it myself. It fits perfectly in my driver about an inch longer than standard. If I swap drivers this will go into the new one. 5- LAB Mezz putter. Hands down this has been the best golf purchase I have made for my game. I got the pistol grip for it from lab and its so money. My putts per round have never been lower. I also lag putt much better than before.
  3. 1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing for about 3yrs going on 4 now. handicap is 11.3 currently on 18 birdies (don't keep an official one since I don't play tournaments) but shoot typically mid to high 80s 2. What do you love about golf? I love playing a game that is completely different every time you go out even if you play the same course. Also just being outside helps! 3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I stumbled on the site looking for driver reviews when I went to purchase my first driver. I found the big driver test for that year and have been hooked ever since. 4. Where are you from? What is your home course? I am from Danville, VA and my 'home course' is the only public one around Southern Hills. 5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best thing about golf in my region is that it is relatively cheap especially compared to what I see rounds going for in Northern VA. Worst is the humidity in the summer and trying to fit rounds in. 6. What do you do for a living? Outside Sales for a company called Hajoca. 7. How’d you pick your user name? I'm not that creative so its my name Driver: PXG Blackops 9* Graphite Design Tour VF 5X 3 Wood: Ping G425 LST 14.5* Fuji Speeder 7X 5 Wood: Titleist TSI3 18* Ventus Velocore Blk 7X 4 Hybrid: Titleist TS2 21* Tensei Blue 85S 5-P: Honma TWX World Irons Project X LZ 6.5 125g 48*, 56*, 62*: Titleist SM9 w different bounce and grinds Putter: LAB MEZZ1
  4. this seems like the best route to make sure it plays really similar to what I have in there now. thanks again!
  5. I have a new driver shaft coming early next week and I'm really excited to build my first club. It is a graphite design tour VF brand new and uncut. I know how to install the tip and how to do a grip on it. I was curious if I need to do any trimming butt or tip to get it ready. I saw on the website that GD doesn't recommend tipping their driver shafts so that would mean leaving the tip alone I believe. But do I trim 1/2" to an 1" off the butt to make it my playing length? I actually prefer a little longer driver shaft so could I play it in the 46" off the van length? thanks for the help!
  6. I have made entirely too many this year but the one that stands out the most is.... LAB Mezz putter. This thing is straight money. It may be the one club that I won't replace. My lag putting on long putts has been exceptional and short putts are automatic. It is literally point and shoot with it. The only thing I could ever see replacing it would be a Link putter to get the more blade look.
  7. I am currently gaming the Gen 5 and really like it. I tried it next to the Stealth plus and Rogue ST LS and honestly I have been more consistent with the PXG. I really want to try the GEN6 but its hard to find places to hit these before purchase. There is a PXG retail shop in Charlotte, NC about 2ish hrs from me. I may have to go try the new ones down there soon.
  8. I was looking to buy my first driver (cobra speedzone) and stumbled onto the driver Most Wanted test. Been on ever since!
  9. I was looking to see if anyone had some first hand experience with this shaft. I have read a few reviews online and it fits the profile of a shaft I would game. I currently have a Hzrdus Yellow but don't like it at all.
