  1. I woke up to -13F temps (didn't bother to check the wind chill) yesterday with 40 mph winds. Today is a balmy -3F and the bit of snow we did get is drifting. I'm sorry you had a bad day at the course but at the same time I envy you the opportunity. Merry Christmas.
  2. To you and everyone else here, my best wishes for the same.
  3. I've had good luck with 0000 steel wool, it's so fine it won't scratch or remove the plating left on the shafts. I've also had luck with Flitz, applied and left to dry, use the 0000 steel wool to remove the Flitz, wipe down with a damp rag.
  4. Yeah, what's ordered isn't, sadly, what's always delivered. Let us know how that goes, I know I'll be interested in what you learn when they measure the angles.
  5. I'd politely disagree with them, if nothing else for the improved feel the upgrade shaft offers me. That, of course, is just me. If you were fitted for the putter, which I presume you were, did you have it checked to see if the build matched the order specifications?
  6. Same Edel grip, 1 gram difference in weight between the old one and the new one. Turns out the new "swing weight", and again I'm using this measurement simply as a point of comparison, is a whit shy of D0. Long story short, for the first time in literally 20 years my putter is my pal and shall remain in my bag without being on "putter probation" as has been the case forever.
  7. It may very well be how the weight is distributed in the shaft. Before I installed it and to have a nominal reference point I checked the "swing weight' of the putter and it was C5. That was with a 50 gram Edel counterweight in the grip area. I used the same weight counterweight in the butt of the shaft of the BGT as part of the shaft swap. When I got done the putter, from a static weight standpoint felt heavier. I ignored that and started practicing with the now redone putter. Still felt really heavy and I was having trouble getting the same feel of the putter had I'd enjoyed before the tinkering started. I was having one of those "oh #$%^" moments. Put the putter on the swing weight scale and it was like a B8 which seemed to account for why I had no feel for the head of the putter. Decided to do away with the counterweight and "voila" everything was right with the world once again. Speaking of which I need to check the "swing weight" and see where it ended up.
  8. I liked the Distanza shaft when I hit it. I agree, it IS a bit looser in feel than the PLB. I have a guess about how your further testing will work out but am looking forward to seeing what happens with your comparison. Sorry about the elbow.
  9. Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. It's a heavy shaft to the point where I had to eliminate the butt end counterweight that was in the original Edel shaft. Once I made that change the better ( WITH the BGT shaft) went to an outstanding setup. I'd no idea how much vibration takes place in a typical steel putter shaft until all of a sudden it was gone. I'm a fan of the BGT. And for the record, I have no connection with either Edel or BGT.
  10. I'm 5'9" and a 33 inch putter works perfectly for me. Having a fairly straight arm hang, which this length gives me, aids me greatly when putting.
  11. Pipe cutter from the plumbing department of your local hardware store. Please find a youtube video on how to use 'em. It's tighten, make three turns, tighten a wee bit more, make three turns, repeat until the cut is complete rather than crank the hell out of and try to make the cut in two turns of the device.
  12. I'm tempted to offer an apology for helping you catch the tinkering bug... In all seriousness, if I can be of any assistance just give a yell, happy to oblige.
  13. A diamond grit hacksaw blade works fine. My recommendation is to wrap some tape around the area where you intend to cut, cut slowly and let the grit do the work as opposed to you "leaning into it", make your cut, remove tape and voila. Depending on what gplb you bought it might, if it's the 45 gram version, be a butt trim only so leave the tip alone.
  14. The numbers/letters on the butt of the shaft are typically internal reference numbers to denote batch numbers, which machine produced the shaft, etc., etc. and aren't necessarily meant to make sense to anyone outside the manufacturer.
  15. I'm going to round up a tad and say there's a 28 gram difference between grips. Which means that if you simply installed the new grips on the existing clubs you'd be 7 swing weight points lighter than they are currently. So the new grips on the existing clubs would give you swing weights of: SW B6 6 iron B9 4 iron B9 5 wood B8 3 wood B8 Driver B7 Every 1/8 inch you EXTEND the length of the clubs is going to INCREASE the swing weight by 1 point. So, if I were working with these clubs I'd be extending them by the following lengths and then regripping. I'd first use a thin stick inserted into the new grip to get an internal length of the grip. Then I'd measure the external length of the grip to see how much length the grip "cap" contributes to overall length. If the inside measure of the grip is 10 inches and the external length is 10 3/8 inches I have to subract that 3/8 inch from the amount of the extension so the finished club length will hit my swing weight target. With all that in mind my goal would be to EXTEND the length of the clubs as follows in order to get a D0 swing weight: 6 iron: 1 3/8 inches 4 iron: 1 3/8 inches 5 wood: 1 1/2 inches 3 wood: 1 1/2 inches Driver: 1 5/8 inches Most people want their SW to be a wee bit heavier so if I wanted, for example, a D2 swing weight on that club I'd extend it 2 full inches. If you want to keep it at D0 for a target you'd extend it 1 3/4 inches. If you used a lighter grip, say a more traditional 50 gram weight the amount of extension would be less. I hope this makes sense and is somewhat helpful, Bang.
  16. Measure the playing lengths of each club. Are you able to remove and weigh one of the grips and then reinstall it? I have a concern that the swing weights are so light that you could perhaps have trouble "feeling the head" as you swing the club. Once you get an accurate weight of the grips on the clubs the "fix" is pretty simple, but we need to know that weight to get a solution to the equation.
  17. Let me think on this a bit and I'll send you a private message or whatever they're called here, ok?
  18. I know squat about survey platforms. I DO, however, get a lot of surveys that use something called, delightfully, "Survey Monkey". What is it you're specifically wanting to survey people about in relation to O-PH?
  19. I'd point out, given that various bits of data stick to my brain like fly paper, that the torque he quoted in the video for the Vanquish was .1, yes 1/10th of a degree different than the published torque for the ProLaunch Blue. They don't talk swing weight but the added length with the lower weight shaft is, again, pretty much what we've been experiencing here. And when Matty "went easy" he was still getting more distance than he did with his "gamer", another common report from the people who've tested here. As to shaft margins...I'm sure the good gentlemen at TXG have no idea or much experience with our $50 PLB's. Lord knows any of us would have a hard time keeping the lights on running a botique business with small margin $'s to support it.
  20. I believe, specific to the ProLaunch, that the swing weight of D0-D1 is a key to matching how the head moves through the hitting zone. I'll be interested to see how your experiments proceed with having more opportunity to adjust the weight.
  21. I have a couple, one is a "dammit", then there's the "not again!", and the tried and true "what the hell?!"... I have other "names" for shots but those are best left imagined rather than expressed.
  22. Given our snow cover I look forward to hearing your results.

Hmm, makes me think a tatoo of a Chinese Sharpei would be an "anytime" sort of tat.
  24. Believe me, I love distance...if it's legitimate versus someone trying to earn a spiff by playing with a keyboard at some poor schlub's (me) expense.
  25. "Juicing" the launch monitor is just plain cruel in my opinion.
