  1. Bit or an argument in our golf group. A guy done an air shot off the tee, half the group said it counts the other half said because it's off the tee it doesn't. Please can someone confirm
  2. Has anyone purchased Titleist balls from Amazon? Need to purchase some balls and won't have time to go to a shop so looked online, there a Titleist store on Amazon selling a dozen balls for around £8-£9 cheaper than what they are on the actual Titleist website. And about £4 cheaper than any where else. Does anyone know if Titleist actually selling through Amazon directly? Just seems a bit strange considering the price differences
  3. The only Iron I use a tee for is a 5 iron, anything lower and I find a nice bit of grass to place the ball (do not have a 4 iron). With the 5 iron I have the tee in nearly all the way, just so the balls is sitting up a tiny bit higher. Just personal preference, I find the ball stops quicker without the tee
  4. Not sure if its underrated but you cant go wrong with Spain, all across the south of Spain you are spoilt for choice, loads of great courses, decent value. Food and drink is also reasonable, loads of companies who will arrange everything for you, including transport, and the weather is normally very good as well.
  5. Thank you for the review. I was gifted Connex for xmas, have only been able to use it for 1 round, few issues, which I felt were probably down to me not using it correctly and your review confirms that. Looking forward to getting used to it all and understanding it all better.
  6. I look forward to reading about your experiences, especially how much battery it drains. I too do not like wearing a watch when playing, and personally did not want to have another thing to worry about charging and then forgetting to bring with me, which is why I am interested in Connex.
  7. Thank you, I had read everything on the products page on their website, but did not even notice that part of the website
  8. Hi All, Sorry if this has been touched on, I have had a quick scan of the thread and didn't notice it. I am thinking of getting the Shotscope CONNEX - the tracker that you use your phone instead of the watch or handheld GPS. Does anyone else use this? I just wanted to check something first I understand that you tap the club tag against your phone, similar to when we make contactless payments. My main query is do I have to have my phone unlocked and the app open every time i want to tap/register a club? or does it work with the phone screen locked. It will be a pain if I have to get my phone, unlock it and open the app before every shot. Cheers
  9. Two spring to mind, the first one we was playing a really nice course, designed by Seve, which we were all looking forward to playing. After 4-5 holes a hail storm started out of nowhere and covered the course in hail, the course was white with hail, the only time I remember seeing hail 'settle' like that in/around London. The second was a miserable day to start off with, then it really started to rain heavy, we got to one hole, a down hill par 4 with a road running across the fairway. This road was down hill from left to right and the fair way was also down hill, with the lowest part of each meeting. This meant water was flowing down the fairway, and also down the road. When the water flows met it was looked like mini rapids, water splashing everywhere, we took that as a sign to give up and go in, never have I been so wet on a golf course in my life
  10. I suffered badly with anxiety, to the point where I would get migraines and sickness which would leave me bed bound, this would happen on a weekly basis and would cause issues with every aspect of my life, cost me jobs, relationships and I had to stop playing sport. I tried everything, therapists, medication, diet change, you name it I tried it. I haven't had an episode since September 2019, an my anxiety is largely under control, I have times when I feel anxious but I am able to get past this fairly quickly. What helped me and changed my life was Hypnotherapy. I honestly did not think it would work, thought it was rubbish and a bit of a con. I only went because a family member kept telling me to try it. I can honestly say it has changed my life, I had 6 sessions and haven't looked back. I have recommend it to friends who have had positive results as well. I know it will not work for everyone, but I will say it is worth a go 100%.
  11. How about a putter? one guy we play with in our friendly Sunday Morning game will place his putter behind the ball, pick up the ball, clean it and replace it. Never had a problem with him doing this because its a friendly game and the ball is going back in the same place, just like when I mark mine with a ball marker. just curious to know if this is allowed and if he would be pulled up on it in a comp
  12. This really changes depending on a few things. With wedges/short irons, I am better off picking the longer club, griping a bit lower down the grip, taking a 3/4 back swing and a cut off follow though. If I try hitting the shorter club a bit harder I tend to lose distance, shank it, thin it, fat it, basically anything other than hit it well With my mid to long irons if I try to take a longer club and hit it easier, chock down etc it just goes all wrong, will fat it 9 times out of 10. I am better off trying to hit the shorter club harder, the ball will tend to "draw" a little bit so i just compensate for that.
  13. Along similar lines, I played a course in a match and our opponent (members of the club) told us we were not allowed to cut the corner on a dog leg as this was "Aerial out of bounds" and any ball which cut the dog leg was declared out of bounds, regardless of where the ball came to rest, is this allowed?
  14. I plan to arrive 1 hour before my tee time. I will have some breakfast, or lunch depending on the time, relax and chat for a bit, 5 mins on the putting green then off to the 1st hole.
  15. I did think this, and also wondered if this is the reason Rory took some time off recently.
  16. For a while I was always TaylorMade drivers, never really considered anything else. Went for a fitting convinced I would end up with the Sim but ended up with the maverick instead. The rest of the bag has always been whatever works and/or is withing my budget at that time.
  17. Stopped using the ball for a while as local shops did not have any stock, then we came into winter, I just use cheap distance balls in the winter, the greens are so soft so spin into greens is irrelevant for me. The weather has picked up and its a bit drier so I picked up a box of Triads in the week and have put the ball back into to play for the last 2 rounds. I was an idiot for not going back to it sooner. 2 rounds, lost 1 ball and that was because I went too long on a dog leg so run out of room and went into the trees. The biggest difference is without a doubt off the tee, its long and from my experience a lot straighter, my putts appear to roll better as well, which was a playing partner commented on. 2 more rounds this week so hopefully more of the same
  18. There were alot yes, but I mean balls like Srixon Distance and AD333, Titleist velocity and tru feel, the E6 etc in the Bridgestone range. We all know we are losing out in some ways buying a Srixon Distance (£12) over a Srixon Z Star (£40) but how much of a difference is there, in real numbers?
  19. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but i would love to see how cheaper balls compare to the more expensive balls. Would be useful to see the data showing the difference between a £20 box of balls, compared to a £30 box of balls compared to a £50 box of balls
  20. I have a few putts, and a 5 or so quick swings with the driver whilst waiting by the first tee and I am good to go. For a while I tried doing a proper warm up on the range but there was no difference to my game, how I played or how I felt so I swapped it for a big breakfast and a cup of tea
  21. I spit on the club face and wipe it with a towel just before I use it
  22. I just put my initials, BB, in red pen next to each number.
  23. Thanks guys, We didn't bother with the M3 GPS. He only puts the trolley in the back of the van to travel to and from the golf club and its not practical to clear the van out every time.
  24. We are looking to get my Dad a Motocaddy M3 GPS for his birthday which is coming up. He travels around in his work Van, so the trolley will be going to and from the golf club in the back, with his tools etc, as a result his current trolley, which hes had for 15 years, is a bit battered, so my concern is the screen for the GPS on the trolley. Does anyone have any experience of how sturdy/durable these screens are? or are they just like a phone screen? Unfortunately my local shops have none in stock so I can have a look for myself.
  25. Do you have to be able to retrieve the ball? You can clearly identify its your ball but because its in a thorn bush you cant reach in and get it and its proving near impossible to hook it out with a club. Can you still declare the ball unplayable? Had a quick look at Rule 19 but it didn't touch on this
