Placasse61 got a reaction from Josh Ross in 2023 Forum Member Test: The Edison Challenge featuring Edison 2.0 Wedges
I am interested in the test. I use the Ping 710 UW(49) and Ping glide2 (54) Both have helped to make my approach and short games better but not really good. Looking to improve the consistency mostly. Looking for the 52 and 56 with medium grips. Best of luck to all who are chosen.

It is a little early, but with Rapsodo sign up closing we don't want to leave you all hanging!
A unique putting method that could change your game? What do you think?

Placasse61 reacted to Ben Joest in 2023 MGS Forum Test: Titleist T Series Irons
My heart would like to believe that I’m T100 4-PW. However, age and experience have taught me that I am not. We’ve talked about it in other threads, but I really believe one has to go into this fitting without ego or expectation and let the fitter and the numbers do the talking.

Yep. A 5 mph ball speed difference should yield between 10 to 15 yards difference. So pretty much an ideal gap.
As to the best split sets. I don’t have the chart with lofts for each model in front of me, however I have studied it up and down. And they really did a good job with these lofts. There is almost any split you csn make between one model and the next in line thst won’t be a good gap. Some case of may be a 4 or 5 degree gap which is fine. I think there may have been one case of a 5.5 or 6 degree. Maybe going from a 350 6 iron to 200 7 ? But it could be addressed with bending either one 1 degree. Or if a player is playing a 350, he might not really notice that 1 degree difference. And I’m a 350 player so I’m not knocking anyone.

I would love to test the T350 and compare to my Ping G710!

Placasse61 reacted to GolfSpy_APH in 2023 MGS Forum Test: Caley Golf
I know these normally release Sundays, but we are making a little change to align with the main site and their articles which promote Forum tests. This means the Caley got pushed up a day!
I have a lot a good things to say about my interactions with them and how they really want to put themselves on the map. There are a lot of DTC companies out there and many we have heard of or have even owned clubs from. Caley has been a smaller brand, however with their recent 3rd place in Most Wanted Driving Iron testing they have proven they can compete... however we still want to know what our membership has to say and a Forum Test of irons and driving irons will be a epic one to follow along with!

Placasse61 got a reaction from Up and Down in 2023 MGS Forum Test: Evnroll V-Series Putters
I am typically 1.9-2.1 putts per hole. I am struggling right and left. Speed is an issue when playing on unfamiliar courses. I would love to test the Evnroll and the sweetface technology.
Thank you MODS for all these testing opportunities!

Placasse61 reacted to GolfSpy_APH in 2023 MGS Forum Test: Sugar Golf Balls
I first saw Sugar on a TXG video which really got me interested. They have a supplier here in Switzerland and while I have yet to buy a cube a good friend has been playing their balls exclusively and had gone from a 32 hdcp to a 8.8. Now a lot of that is due to hard work and practice, but the ball must be also playing a part.
Short version soon after the Forum Staff got scheduling control over member testing Sugar was one of my first calls. They were excited to get on board and involved for this season as they really believe in their product.
A big thank you to them and looking forward to seeing how our 5 Forum Members find these golf balls!

Placasse61 reacted to GolfSpy_APH in 2023 MGS Forum Test: HackMotion Training System
We have had a lot of really cool and unique testing opportunities, however this one really has me excited. Golf clubs are great to have, golf balls and gloves are also fantastic member tests.
Products like HackMotion that will help show the improvement and tech side of golf are truly unique and should provide for a very fun member test!

Placasse61 reacted to Rockerdude in 2023 MGS Forum Test: SwingU Pro Golf App
good luck to the testers! it's the app I currently use and love it. I had the pro plan until they added the track your shot feature into the basic service but then sent it back to paid. I'm a simple man though so I just need the GPS and score tracking. Basic give me my handicap but i'm not sure how accurate it is

As at least one other user noted, this app used to be under a different name; I think I have been using it since it came out in its original version. If you are good with carrying your phone every where you can track shot distances and build a data base of average distances for club choices. Otherwise you can track fairway and GIR and number of putts pretty simply giving a good set of stats to track trends and areas for improvement. Even though I have a Shot Scope watch I use the app for course views, scores and putt tracking, hazards and carry distances, etc. I really find it useful.

It is nice to see a prominent company from the past giving itself another life. Hopefully the clubs are really good and give the market another option. The history lesson was interesting but what is special about the clubs!!! What do they bring to the market? Looking forward to the reviews

I learned to play with a set of 1968 Tourneys (still have the Driver, 3,4, and 5 woods) and a set of 1941 Tommy Armour woods, the latter hanging on a rack in a place of honor on my den wall.

McGregor always made fantastic irons. Never played them but my brother had a set. He ended up selling them but has regretted it ever since. So, sign me up for the Pros.

Count me in ... I won a few tournaments using Macgregor irons in the 1980s. I also use to live near the facility in Albany, Georgia. They made some fine products!!

Oh man - these would be a blast to test and report on. I still have the Mike Souchak TSLs that were gifted me back in the late 1990’s. Recently regripped I still play them when in the mood to hit classic blades. I’m game for giving these a real go…
