  1. Great topic! Three years ago I made a commitment to get my mid 50s out of shape body going. Along with better eating habits, I make sure I’m active every day. One day is strength training and the next aerobic. During the golf season, I play 2-3 times per week and walk every time. I work with a trainer about once a month to keep me going and fresh. I’ve dropped about 30 pounds and kept it off. I look forward to see what people are doing and picking up good tips. Good luck everyone!
  2. I walk with a push cart and love my Sun Mountain bag with 14 dividers. Really helps the organization. Agree with other comments that the dividers must be full length to work properly.
  3. I’ve also had mixed experience including the used car salesman in fitters. I decided to take control of my fittings by working with my pro on the simulator. Who knows my game better- my pro or a fitter I may see at most 3 times every few years? Even the best fitter can only fit the game you brought that day. Once I know what numbers I want to hit, I’ll go to the big box store and tell them what clubs I want to hit. I’m upfront in how I’m doing the fitting and most are happy to work with me. In fact less work for them. If I’m having an off day, I walk away and come back another time. It’s not perfect but I’m in control and no one is trying to push a club that does not fit me.
  4. I’ve had BOA from Adidas for several seasons and worked great. Footbed wore out and BOA was still going strong. I walk every round so have several pairs to rotate. Some are laces but I think BOA are superior. Will eventually replace all laced shoes. Trying Skechers Twist Fit for first time this season - will let you know how it goes.
  5. Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve checked them all out and have decided to go with Double Ace golf that I mentioned in my last post. Seems well suited for what I need. Trip is at end of April. I’ll let you know my experience with the app after the trip. If all goes well, I’m also hoping to use it to organize weekend games.
  6. Thanks for all the feedback so far. I did check out 18 birdies but not quite what I’m looking for. Golf Genius looks very good but as you say a bit cost prohibitive. At $149 per trip, it’s a bit steep. I did come across a free app called Double Ace golf. I found a couple of bugs but the developers have been super responsive - it also looks like it will be good to organize weekend games. Assuming no more issues, I’ll let everyone know my experience. But if you have other suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
  7. Hi Everyone, Has anyone used a golf app to help organize a buddy’s trip and have recommendations? Not the actual booking of courses or accommodations, that’s done. Looking for something to organize tee times for the group, post scores, track games, and send general announcements. As the trip captain, I’d like to get away from emails, texts, and spreadsheets to track everything. First post and excited to have found this community. Thanks
