  1. Hopefully a quick one... I have a one length adjustable sz 4-5 hybrid and a one length black 4 utility I will be trialing for a spot in my bag. I also have a bunch of 7 iron fitting shafts I picked up really cheap (about £3 per shaft), a few of which i want to trial in these clubs. I know they use the same size adapter as each other as I can change the shafts between these clubs and I am assuming that they are 0.370, but before i buy a few extra adapters for these, can anyone confirm if that assumption is correct? They will take weeks to arrive from abroad and id like to have the shafts ready to try when the driving ranges open again in a months time in the UK (if the rumors are true). Note: I had an extra slot in my bag and thought one of these would be a good safety shot club for narrow fairways, troublesome lies or high wind conditions and want a combination that will give me a low launch, low spin and a tight dispersion.
  2. I'm in the UK and have been in lock down or under high restrictions for about 8-9 of the last 12 months. Driving ranges are closed. Courses are closed. I still need my golf fix so have very few other options right now.
  3. Since in lockdown I've ended up purchasing some additional training aids and i wondered what other people had and if they found any particular combinations that work well together. Any additional suggestions or any questions on a particular tool? Thought this might give people ideas as well... Pure 2 Triangular Pop Up Practice net (even though I have this large net, im still not confident in using real balls in my garden) Colin Montgomerie Dual Practice Mat Airflow (Wiffle) practice balls x30 Practice foam balls x30 I was looking at some flatballs, but found that plastic milk carton tops seem to work well and are regularly replaceable Scholl foot spray (impact analysis) Pop up chipping target net. Zepp 2 swing analyzer (measures swing speed, swing plane and tempo) Tour Striker Plane Mate Swing Impact Swing Caddie Pure 2 Tempo Trainer (budget orange whip) Inflatable ball on lanyard alignment sticks iPing app and iphone mount for putter small ebay putting mirror the pill putting practice ball x3 (also good for chipping practice) Putt out target Golf Pad on my phone linked to my watch to track my shots on round These give me a well rounded practice set up at home while in lockdown. I had considered "the hanger" but haven't purchased yet. Also considering overspeed training.
  4. URGHH!!!! This lock down is driving me crazy. I have set the one length SZ hybrid to 21.5*, and the one length black utility set to 22.5*, to put head to head to see which will be my get out of jail distance club but I cant test them anywhere. I figure those lofts would put them in similar launch windows. I would like to try them at a Top Tracer driving range first to get some baseline numbers in terms of carry and flight characteristics and play with the settings to maximize the distances with both. Then try them in different lies and off the tee etc. to see which i get on with better and which proves the most versatile. I'm tempted to sneak on to a local golf course on one of the holes that are out of the way but knowing my luck i'll end up caught and fined. I'm losing my mind sitting around the house all day every day though.
  5. @hertsjoatmon im always up for some free stuff!
  6. I've been looking at my life during this 3rd lockdown in the UK and wondering what I have achieved and what I want out of life. My partner and I are very opposite. I'm the saver and she is the spender. I took up contracting work last year with a view that I could work shorter periods with extended time off. She sees that as a chance for me to work all the time for more money wants a bigger house and fancier car etc and makes me feel lazy when I talk about taking a month or so out of work. I follow the FIRE movement (Financial Independence Retire Early), but my plans for building up savings and investments are soon scuppered. Its hard to make that big change though when you have been together for 9 years even though you know its not right for you
  7. I ended up getting the old black one 4 utility and a SZ 4/5 adjustable one hybrid to put up against each other for a spot in the bag. The utility as a 5 and the hybrid as a 4 is also a potential option. just need them to a) arrive and b) open up the range in the UK so i can get some testing in now...

  9. I ended up getting the old black utility and a SZ 4/5 adjustable one length hybrid to put up against each other for a spot in a back. the utility as a 5 and the hybrid as a 4 is also a potential option. just need them to a) arrive and b) open up the range in the UK so i can get some testing in now...
  10. Need to make one that looks like the top of a beer can for me I can use the tab for alignment as well. haha
  11. It is for me. I'm carrying 2 drivers this year the second of which is 12.5* and 43.5". As I was only using my 3 wood off the tee I figured why not just use a driver for the added forgiveness. Fairway finder! Lowest loft ill hit off the deck is 17*.
  12. Jealous. It’s too much to get a super hybrid imported to the uk!
  13. Thinking about moving to the club conex uni fit system. I have 6 shafts and 3 heads and love the idea of swapping between them all depending on mood and how I am swinging
  14. Unfortunately most of my friends arent the practicing type. they just want to get on the course with no warm up etc and hack the ball round.
  15. Shawn Clement was singing the praises of this on his latest podcast so i thought id check it out. I think it looks great. Like a more functional impact snap in my opinion. However to get one imported to the uk looks like will cost $250 once shipping and import taxes are factored in... ouch!
  16. Any one know the best place (ie. cheapest) to pick this up in the UK? not having much luck with google search, was hoping someone may know a smaller company that stocked them which i could buy from. Id rather help a smaller company than the usual suspects during lockdown all else being equal...
  17. I love them and was on the verge of picking one up before I decided to try arm lock putting for a year. if i revert back, a yes! is high on my list
  18. Not thought about WIshon, good shout. I have an XTD Ti 4 hybrid which i love
  19. I've had 3 fittings. one in my first year for irons, another in my second year for irons, and bought the PXG based on a phone fitting but will be fit in person once we are out of lock down potentially moving to a different shaft if needed. I went from needing 1* upright in my first year to 1* flat in my second after working on changing my over the top swing to a more shallow one. and from liking a 90g 7 iron to something in the 100-105 range and i got faster and stronger. And I track my distances / gapping using golf pad on my phone during rounds...
  20. Been wanting to put up a what's in the bag for my main bag since i joined this forum a month or so ago but its taking a while to finish. I don't want to post photos until i am all set... I've bought and sold used a lot over my 3 years playing and most times I've broken even or made a little profit through the transactions. Each time I've done A / B testing with my existing set up to hone what in feels like an ideal club in each slot in my bag. This has lead to me having a very custom combo set. Control in the short irons and forgiveness as you move in to the lower lofts and wedges. I've been making changes during lockdown but i cant finish it off until the golf shops are back open. Odyssey Stroke Lab Double Wide Armlock putter 40" - however its too flat and i need it bent 4 degrees upright to fit my stroke. I'm enjoying the putting technique but pushing everything right currently with it due to the very toe down lie angle. 2 wedges - CBX 56 (bent to 57) and 52 (bent to 51) - XP 115 P-8 irons - z765 - AMT black stiff soft stepped (waiting for the shafts to arrive currently have KBS tour 90 S in them) 7 iron - z565 - AMT black stiff soft stepped (as above) 6 hybrid - a12 pro - AMT black stiff soft stepped (as above, currently has the stock aldila RIP shaft in it) 4 hybrid - XTD Ti turned down to around 22* - Matrix HQ3 regular (only done a little testing with this so far, I had a big bertha '19 prior to this but am something of an Adams fan) Short 5 iron - Great Big Birtha at 18*- Kuru Kage Black 70 Stiff playing at 41.75" Driver - PGX 0811 XF Gen2 at 9.5* - Evenflow Riptide CB 60 6.0 at 44.5" - on order, hoping it will arrive next week To supplement these I'm going to adjust my Callaway fusion driver to play at 12.5* with a heavier head weight and a 3 wood shaft for when accuracy is a priority, and am shopping for a one length utility 4 iron to give me other options off the tee and different flight profiles when conditions call for it. By the times courses open again in the UK I should be set for the new season
  21. The key thing for me is patience. Not jumping on the first set or club you see once you decide what you want, but setting up watch lists. setting yourself a price point your happy to pay and also a condition you are happy to accept. If you do this then chances are if you don't get on with them you will at least be able to get your money back by moving them on again. I've played enough that I know generally what will fit me in terms of length lie and shaft weights and im happy to pull shafts to replace, add swing weight etc to get a club to my specs and feel preferences.
  22. I should have looked harder... Steelfiber AMI Recoils are apparently 1g ascending weight fujikura MCI AV AM(2) all added to my ebay searches...
  23. After a lot of trial an error if found that the AMT Black stiff soft step are the perfect shaft for my main set of irons. I also have a practice half set that I use more frequently in a stand bag to walk the course and I wanted to put a set of slightly lighter graphite shafts in it to lower the impact on my joints and prevent a little extra fatigue. Would steelfiber i95 stiff soft stepped be a good fit? Found a pulled set at a good price. I under stand they play a little stiff to flex but the lighter weight would offset this a tiny bit potentially I cant find a set of ascending weight graphite shafts similar to the AMTs that I use. Well not at used anyway.
  24. I went from a Smart Sole 3.0 S to a CBX 56* wedge (bent to 57*) when i started to find the smart sole too bulky, but am now wondering if the heel relief on the newer CBX 2 wedge may be better suited as my 57* wedge. I mostly use it for sand, plus the occasional pitch or chip shot if I need to carry a bunker or other hazard to the green. I figured the heel relief would make it more versatile. As anyone who made the switch from the old one to the new one, specifically with the S shape sole, got any feed back?
  25. And when your done. sign me up for one! Personally my favorite head shapes are the jailbird mini / scotty 5 style ones. Forgiving and can scoop the ball up easy with them
