  1. Have you considered playing the front 9 twice?
  2. What a week. My buddy from college who I first played golf with 15 years ago came into town. I played like once a year when we used to play and he played in college so he would wipe the floor with me. Since I started playing consistently he made a trip up for 4 rounds in 3 days. Day 1: Blue Ridge Shadows (slope 131) Absolutely miserable day for me. Worst score I've had since I started playing consistently. Was weird because wasn't terrible off the tee, but everything else was awful. Score: 116 FIR: 8/14 (57%) GIR: 1/18 (6%) Putts: 41 Shot of the day: Only one to speak of was a 3hy flushed from 200+ out downhill to a blind green that landed 1 foot from the hole and settled on the back of the green. Day 2: The Links at Gettysburg (slope 136) Really fun course but really difficult course. Everybody in our group was struggling to get around this one in one piece. Putter started off hot with 1 putts on 1 and 2 and five 1 putts on the front. Cooled off a bit on the back. Score: 106 FIR: 6/14 (43%) GIR: 0/18 (0%) Putts: 34 Shot of the day: Putt on 1. Scrambled to get to the center of a nasty green and then sunk a 25 footer up and over a probably 2' hump between me and the hole Day 3: Bowling Green South Course (Slope 120) I don't know what clicked, but something did. Trying to think through more stacking over my trail leg and pushing/swinging through but everything was better, especially on the front where I didn't card a double. Beat my buddy for the first time ever, which was fun, especially after looking like I'd been just lying to him about playing more the first two days. Would've flirted with a new best of 84 but hit a rocket of a hybrid over a green on the back nine, lost back, cleaned a punch chip back over and carded a triple. Score: 88 FIR: 5/14 (36%) GIR: 4/18 (22%) Putts: 35 Shot of the round: For strike quality it was the 3hy that I hit 230+. For outcome there wasn't really a single crazy shot that stood out. Just played solid golf Day 3 - part 2: Bowling Green North Course (Slope 131) This will be the one that got away. We were first out after a morning league and started off the back and had pretty much the course to ourselves. Played the first nine at +6 and as we made the turn, storms were moving in. We were flying playing speed golf and thinking less had us both playing a lot better. Alas we caught up with a guy on 7 and storm got there and we had to head back with 15 played and I was at +11. Playing last 3 at +2 would've given me a new best, but wasn't to be. Shot of the round: Yet again was a 3hy. Feel like I figured that out a bit as I moved it back in my stance and pushed hands forward a bit at address which has led to a lot cleaner contact. Hit one well from just over 200 out that hit and stuck about 8 feet away. Runner up: 6 iron that I faded around a tree (natural slicing ball flight) to about 6 feet. Overall, really fun few days.
  3. Since you seem sincere, it might be best to find a buddy who knows a little more about the clubs to help you list them properly just to ensure confidence on both sides of the deal.
  4. Been a while since I've posted here but have been able to play a decent amount. Hitting about the 6 month mark of being able to play consistently and progress has slowed as the bigger jumps in score have ceased, which is to be expected. Shot a 93 which was an overall pretty solid round. Experimented with trying to aim for the widest miss, especially off the tee, no matter the club and turned out pretty well. Great example is this hole that is my nemesis. Short par-4 that's just a slow, steady dogleg left with trees all down the right that doesn't fit my shot shape at all. It's the 3rd easiest hole on the course but the one I play the least. Swallowed a ton of pride and hit a 7 iron off the tee into the middle of the fairway, then another 7 in, two putted for par.
  5. Yeah I feel like I got really lucky in that I shot the gap with avoiding delays. I got fit on New Years Eve for the T300's and was told that everything was moving slow but getting better and to expect 8-12 weeks. I got them in less than 4 (which still felt like an eternity). Then about a month later my buddy went to the same spot, got fitted for the same clubs, was told 4-5 weeks because things had been speeding up and just got them a couple weeks ago. Feels like things are crawling right now.
  6. Phew what a day. First time walking which was delightful. Managed to shoot an even 100 with 0 fairways hit and 0 GIR! ZERO! For both! I’m equal parts miserable with my play off the tee and proud of ability to scramble to keep it (semi) reasonable. By comparison I’ve had rounds a few weeks ago of 64% of fairways and 28% GIR. Confidence off the tee is absolutely non-existent right now. BUT, it was a gorgeous day out Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. Just picked up a nitron and walking my first round tomorrow!
  8. I entered a round on the website and just now went on to enter another and it doesn't show up in the same dropdown menu as it did before so seems to be similar.
  9. Poorly. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  10. As someone who currently still hits too many balls OB, I agree that it should be changed. Once I'm hitting less balls OB, they can feel free to change it back.
  11. Great to know. On the original post it said if you enter a new score it may overwrite a previous one so assuming for whatever metric is chosen you'll be taking it from the last score entered and not the best of all scores entered for that metric?
  12. Saw some folks mentioning using different apps to track rounds/having both opened. You can also go to thegrint.com after your round and enter your round that way (I think it's the second screenshot in the post). You can still enter most stats that way as well if you wanted to use rangefinder or something else on the course and still enter your round into the grint.
  13. Couple questions from those with experience (or have heard): 1. Anybody used or heard about quality of TGW brand carts? I've heard TGW in general is pretty good, but I think that was based more on customer service vs. their branded equipment. 2. 3-wheel vs. 4-wheel carts? If choosing, any advantages or disadvantages to either?
  14. Yeah they're all part of the T300's and it definitely sounds different than the rest of the clubs.
  15. A few months ago I got fit for a full set of Titleist T300's 4-PW + 48* and 53* wedges. I've noticed that sometimes the 48 and 53 have a bit of a twangy sound (I wish I knew a better way to describe this haha) when hitting them, especially when hitting partial shots or chipping. Is this normal or something I should talk to my fitter about getting looked at? They also don't sound quite as solid as my other clubs on full swings. Anybody got an idea?
  16. Yeah. I'm definitely working on lower ball flight as mine is really high. Occasionally this works to my advantage as ball lands coming straight down but I think I'm probably sacrificing some distance with trajectory and wouldn't lose a lot of precision with it being lower (would still be really high) And that's awesome! I know a few folks who are members up at Stoneleigh and have told a couple guys that I'd get out there with them once the game is good enough where I'm not embarrassing myself. I drive past the course on my way out to Front Royal to play the courses that are more in my price range but would love to be a member at Stoneleigh one day!
  17. Played yesterday and round was kind of all over the place. Opened up with the best I've ever felt, parring the opening 4 holes (after leaving a 4 foot birdie putt on #4 under the hole). Then I was getting blown up with texts about work and got really frustrated and saw play deteriorate quickly. Got things handled and settled in late for a decent stretch. Middle stretch wasn't pretty but bookended it with +2 on first 4 and final 6 so definitely happy with that, especially putting on punched greens. Positives: Iron play felt pretty locked in throughout, just found woods off the tee during the middle so forced to punch out. GIR on 3/4 par 3's. Was able to lock in a bit down the stretch Negatives: Not accurate at all off the tee and that cost me. Lost focus in the middle. Still trying to figure out distances with my newer irons/consistent contact. Getting out again tomorrow at a course that punched greens a little sooner so hoping putting surface is a little smoother and can put together a full round of good golf.
  18. Dang I don’t think they’re currently carrying them. I can get them to show up in searches but item isn’t listed through the link. Would be perfect. If anyone sees it in the future, let me know! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  19. I’m a Costco member! I’ll check it out. Thanks for the heads up! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  20. Man, all the posts in here about leagues has me itching to find a spot where I could join one. My area’s lack of public/semi-private/affordable courses is a killer Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  21. Bump on this. As it’s getting to spring and weather is getting nicer and I’ve been able to play a bit more looking to walk more. Curious if anyone has a cheap cart they are looking to get rid of after an upgrade? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  22. Since I posted about wedge play and got so many great responses, figured this was worth a shot as well. Any great resources, teachings, etc. for working on lower trajectory shots, especially for windy conditions (more so than punching out from underneath trees, etc, although I suppose that would still apply). Played yesterday and ball striking was the best it's felt but I have really high ball flight and I pured a handful of shots from the fairway that got up in the wind and rather than landing on the green or close, got caught up in a left to right wind coming back, and ended up 30 yards right. Eventually I started just aiming way left and throwing it up there and praying but obviously would love to develop a shot to use in these conditions. Any go-to resources on learning this shot?
  23. Seriously so much good info/advice to unpack and work through. I really appreciate it. I do love the idea of the clock face as that gives me a more consistent idea of length of swing vs. just "feel". And totally agree with uncertainty leading to a lot of not confident shots that aren't struck well. Was able to play yesterday and left in this range a couple of times and worked on more half swings with my 53* vs. full with 58* with moderate success (I think I was on both greens). One thing I focused on yesterday especially on those shots was setting hands forward a bit pre-swing in order to ensure more ball first contact and that felt better than it has. Additional thing I need to work on is trajectory of those shots based on what's needed as it's pretty much a hope and pray the ball stops at this point. Luckily I do have a rapsodo MLM so a session even off the mat working on those clock shots might be in the future.
  24. As someone who loves tech and uses The Grint, this is a great tease.
