  1. Couple questions from those with experience (or have heard): 1. Anybody used or heard about quality of TGW brand carts? I've heard TGW in general is pretty good, but I think that was based more on customer service vs. their branded equipment. 2. 3-wheel vs. 4-wheel carts? If choosing, any advantages or disadvantages to either?
  2. Yeah they're all part of the T300's and it definitely sounds different than the rest of the clubs.
  3. A few months ago I got fit for a full set of Titleist T300's 4-PW + 48* and 53* wedges. I've noticed that sometimes the 48 and 53 have a bit of a twangy sound (I wish I knew a better way to describe this haha) when hitting them, especially when hitting partial shots or chipping. Is this normal or something I should talk to my fitter about getting looked at? They also don't sound quite as solid as my other clubs on full swings. Anybody got an idea?
  4. Yeah. I'm definitely working on lower ball flight as mine is really high. Occasionally this works to my advantage as ball lands coming straight down but I think I'm probably sacrificing some distance with trajectory and wouldn't lose a lot of precision with it being lower (would still be really high) And that's awesome! I know a few folks who are members up at Stoneleigh and have told a couple guys that I'd get out there with them once the game is good enough where I'm not embarrassing myself. I drive past the course on my way out to Front Royal to play the courses that are more in my price range but would love to be a member at Stoneleigh one day!
  5. Played yesterday and round was kind of all over the place. Opened up with the best I've ever felt, parring the opening 4 holes (after leaving a 4 foot birdie putt on #4 under the hole). Then I was getting blown up with texts about work and got really frustrated and saw play deteriorate quickly. Got things handled and settled in late for a decent stretch. Middle stretch wasn't pretty but bookended it with +2 on first 4 and final 6 so definitely happy with that, especially putting on punched greens. Positives: Iron play felt pretty locked in throughout, just found woods off the tee during the middle so forced to punch out. GIR on 3/4 par 3's. Was able to lock in a bit down the stretch Negatives: Not accurate at all off the tee and that cost me. Lost focus in the middle. Still trying to figure out distances with my newer irons/consistent contact. Getting out again tomorrow at a course that punched greens a little sooner so hoping putting surface is a little smoother and can put together a full round of good golf.
  6. Dang I don’t think they’re currently carrying them. I can get them to show up in searches but item isn’t listed through the link. Would be perfect. If anyone sees it in the future, let me know! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. I’m a Costco member! I’ll check it out. Thanks for the heads up! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  8. Man, all the posts in here about leagues has me itching to find a spot where I could join one. My area’s lack of public/semi-private/affordable courses is a killer Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  9. Bump on this. As it’s getting to spring and weather is getting nicer and I’ve been able to play a bit more looking to walk more. Curious if anyone has a cheap cart they are looking to get rid of after an upgrade? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  10. Since I posted about wedge play and got so many great responses, figured this was worth a shot as well. Any great resources, teachings, etc. for working on lower trajectory shots, especially for windy conditions (more so than punching out from underneath trees, etc, although I suppose that would still apply). Played yesterday and ball striking was the best it's felt but I have really high ball flight and I pured a handful of shots from the fairway that got up in the wind and rather than landing on the green or close, got caught up in a left to right wind coming back, and ended up 30 yards right. Eventually I started just aiming way left and throwing it up there and praying but obviously would love to develop a shot to use in these conditions. Any go-to resources on learning this shot?
  11. Seriously so much good info/advice to unpack and work through. I really appreciate it. I do love the idea of the clock face as that gives me a more consistent idea of length of swing vs. just "feel". And totally agree with uncertainty leading to a lot of not confident shots that aren't struck well. Was able to play yesterday and left in this range a couple of times and worked on more half swings with my 53* vs. full with 58* with moderate success (I think I was on both greens). One thing I focused on yesterday especially on those shots was setting hands forward a bit pre-swing in order to ensure more ball first contact and that felt better than it has. Additional thing I need to work on is trajectory of those shots based on what's needed as it's pretty much a hope and pray the ball stops at this point. Luckily I do have a rapsodo MLM so a session even off the mat working on those clock shots might be in the future.
  12. As someone who loves tech and uses The Grint, this is a great tease.
  13. #3 is a great idea, especially paired with getting on the course when it's open and hitting multiple shots in. I've done this a bit as well although I do think mentally the missed shots from close stand out more than further out. Like playing to 125 to hit PW vs. 80 to hit SW because I remember that one time I shanked my SW and the one time I grooved a PW. Do I consistently get it closer from 125 than I do from 80? Probably not.
  14. That's a great word as well. Yeah, I would say I have little to no clue how far those shots go with 1/2 swings, hip to hip, etc so it's basically "Hope this works out" which doesn't lead to a confident shot. Great suggestion on working on if I can get on the course when it's empty because hitting those shots into a net even with a launch monitor doesn't provide the most accurate feedback.
  15. I've started trying this for sure. And I know it's just a matter of confidence over the shot but has led to a plethora of bladed shots over the green. My SW and GW are also a part of my fitted set so definitely more comfortable with those from distance instead of the LW. Appreciate it.
  16. By far the most inconsistent part of my game is when I end up in the 20-70 yard range. <20 yards isn't too bad other than the occasional duffed chip. 80+ is coming around with full swings from SW, GW, etc. getting dialed in. However, when I'm in that no man's land, it's brutal. 60 yards is probably the range on a full swing LW the 1 out of 10 times I strike it well. Most end up slicing up turf and leaving myself halfway to the green with a wasted shot. One issue is my primary means of practice is off a mat into a net and without a membership with a range included I really only get to take these those a few times a round. Any tips or suggestions for getting in work for that range and increasing confidence?
  17. This week is spring break and a little slower and since we didn't travel anywhere, decided to try to play as much as possible and try to get to at least one new course. Made a little bit of a drive today to play The Links at Gettysburg in Gettysburg, PA. Beautiful day and beautiful course. Greens were being aerated but still had a blast and course was in fantastic shape other than that. Probably the toughest course I've played so far and played pretty well. Playing by myself, started off the back and striped a couple drives into the fairway and irons just off the green and then stuck a tee shot on 1st par 3 on the green and two-putted for a bogey, bogey, par start which is great for me. Then, the wheels completely detached from the vehicle and I played the next 4 at +12 including two triples and a TEN! This was around the time I caught up to a painfully slow duo and then the solo behind me caught me so it did throw off my rhythm but just dreadful stretch. Got it together a bit for the rest of the back 9 and then played some really solid golf on the front. Hit a couple wedges to within 10 feet (including one that was 2 inches from being jarred for eagle) but couldn't quite capitalize for birdies. Positives: Played really well off the tee. 64% driving accuracy is BY FAR my best and almost double my average of 36% (even two worst holes due to drops were tee shots the drew when aiming left side of the fairway which led to trouble) Felt like tempo and swing felt smoothest it's ever felt Really fun time playing a new course Negatives: 5 penalties is absolutely brutal. Even just avoiding those puts me at 92 on the toughest course I've played without counting missed opportunities putting. Overall: Great afternoon playing a great new course. If you're near Gettysburg it's worth the time
  18. Beautiful day yesterday. Perfect timing as we wrapped up the round just as some rain rolled in. Ball striking was really good on the first handful of holes and the totally lost it. Just missed a couple greens early on really well struck irons and hit one of my best shots ever on the toughest hole on the course. After a short drive just mashed a hybrid from about 210 out to an elevated green and rolled it to about 4 feet for birdie. Couldn't find the fairway for anything off the tee after 6 and was left to punch out a bunch and scramble a ton. Also had a buddy playing for the first time yesterday so it wasn't the easiest to get into a rhythm as the course was packed and we were trying to move him along some. First time doing that with someone who had never played before and was quite the experience. Group behind us was really understanding though which helped a lot.
  19. Here were my goals coming into 2021: Break 100 Break 90 Break 80 Handicap < 15 Make an eagle Average driving distance > 250 in September (last month of the year when it's warmer) Play 5 new courses Round with no 3 putts Round with no double bogeys Play 52 rounds Average < $20/round
  20. This was something I discovered. Being newer and not really knowing anything about course/slope ratings to start I then discovered the two courses I play the most have slope rating of 131+ and when I got on a course that was 120 I was amazed at how well I shot.
  21. *walks off the course after the first hole shooting 1 under for the year* In VA the courses feel really dry/hard as well. Makes chipping/pitching especially difficult Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  22. Thank you sir! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  23. No worries at all. Congrats on being back in the office! @golfinnut if you're interested in putting a team together let me know. I know I've seen some other semi-local folks on here but being newer, don't know them as well
  24. A few days late but on Wednesday I got out and shot a best ever score of 85! Didn't really do anything incredible, just played pretty solid golf and was able to scramble when I did get in trouble. No birdies, but only one triple, two doubles, and a bunch of pars and bogeys. Putting is normally my strongest part but had been miserable recently (one round with three 4-putts) but felt good again. Chipping was solid and left myself with some short ones which led to 5 holes with 1 putt or less and 31 total putts for the round. Previous best was 87 and going to par 5 18th at 79 really wanted to get 85. Don't think I hit a shot more than 100 yards on that hole but got up and down for bogey. Now I just need to get in enough work with driver so I can hit that off the tee instead of 3-wood every time!
  25. Lucky for you it's the Monday after the Masters! What better way to celebrate an awesome Master's weekend than getting out the next day to win a tournament yourself??
