  1. Lol, yes but I have to sell them to buy more. Once I get my golf workshop in order I want to start buying and selling even more products. Buy used fit them out and resell. Maybe even start doing repairs for clients. There are so few club repair guys around I think my little hobby could pay for itself and buy me a lunch or a bourbon once in a while...
  2. I actually hate the chrome finish. One of the 1st things I do when I but a set of clubs is to sand them with some superfine wet sandpaper and dull down the chrome. I play a ton, the chromes gets all messed up in no time at all. I like that brushed stainless look.
  3. Wow, those mp32's are iconic. Just read a very interestejng article about those clubs. Great find. And nice work. https://www.golfwrx.com/546076/danny-lees-mizuno-mp-32-irons-the-real-inside-scoop/
  4. Wow I am a club ho. Since jan 2020 Diablo edge r irons set (sold) Rogue cf18 iron set (sold) Mavrik max iron set (back up set for sale on eBay right now. 5. So finally gotten almost all my woods in same shaft and grip. Driver MAvrik sz Rogue white 70x 3w Mavrik sz rogue white 70s 5w Mavrik sz rogue white 70s I just ordered a Mavrik 7w it has the riptide shaft in Reg flex. I have an extra aldilia rogue white 70s driver shaft. I want to cut it down. From What I read online it looks like I should trim tip 1" or maybe 1/2" per step. driver 0" 3w 1/2" tip trim. 5w 1" tip trim 7w 1.5" tip trim. Then cut butt end to length of factory shaft. I don't want to ruin shaft or make an unplayable wood. I know I like the shaft with my fairway woods, now I just want to make sure i cut driver shaft down correctly.. any input would be appreciated.
  6. Smart ass. LoL. Yes I play by myself allot and practice on the course like 4-6 times a week. If I hit a ball in woods I do not go looking for more then a cursory drive by. Thats why I buy used balls, they are cheap and decent quality, then I do not mind losing them. I will sometimes try the same shot 5 or 6 times in a row to see what I can and cannot do. I am trying to hit fades, draws, long approaches, stingers, knock downs lobs etc so yes I lose allot of balls. Especially off tee, I am rarely playing it safe, If i am hitting into dog leg left i try to hit perfect draw. All this practice on a course is really good for me. When I am keeping score I have gone from mid to high 90s to mid to mid 80s in 7 months. So for me, I could care less about cost of golf balls so I do not waste time looking for them. Besides, when I do look I find all those PROV1's an put them in my bag. Maybe I am crazy. For example today I played nine holes in some pretty cold and windy conditions, I had course to myself, I think I lost 6 to 8 balls. I was hitting over water and was trying to draw it and reach apron off tee. It was like 320 line of site, a little draw at 285 would get me in with lob wedge. I hit two in a row into drink right at edge of fairway. It was fun. On an island green par 3 160, I was hitting 7 iron into wind trying to work right to.left as green slopes away to right and whenever I hit fade it slides down right side. I hit two to left of green pin high in some nice fluffy grass. I bladed one straight into water, hit a fade that bounced off back apron into water. I love to play and I probable do lose more balls then most people while practicing. I hit so many awesome, truly amazing shots. Its all worth while to me. So far I am on my second bag of 120 balls. I probable have about 50-70 balls, supersofts and chromesoft x left.
  7. I have played about 20 rounds with shot scope v3 with tags. A couple observations. I am not a practice swing guy at all. It totally messed with my mechanics. Maybe this is why I have so many missed shots. Some rounds I get 1 or two missed shots. Other especially when its really cold, I get so many missed shots it not worth looking at. 2. Swapping clubs present some serious confusion. In performance tabs. Mine where so screwed up, I just deleted all rounds and am starting over. I am going to start carrying club from cart to ball swinging it around a bit in hopes it wakes up and recognizes club. The problem is for this to.work properly. It requires a little attention, you have to look at watch to make sure it recognizes tag prior to taking shot. Also pin collect is pain in the ass. You really have to stop, and press the button next to number of puts while standing next to pin. I often times remember pin collect when either in cart or on way back to cart. Tgere should be some sort of audie chirp or something after 2 puts reminding you to collect pin. I want to love this product. But right now I feel like it requires too much attention.
  8. Looking for discussion on golf balls. What you play what you have tried and did not like and what you want to try. I have always been a callaway fan boy and seriously thought hackers who pay $60 for a dozen prov1 where literally just shooting $4-5 dollars into the woods with way too many shots. That being said, I started playing this year with the callaway supersoft. $104 for a bag of 120 near mint used balls. I like them, but the compression is like 38 with a surlyn cover two peice ball. I wanted to try something a little better with higher compression and better around greens. I tried the chromesoft x triple track. $141 for a bag of 120 used balls. I think these are more like 90 compression. With urethane cover. I like them. But do not love them Now I just ordered a bag of yellow erc soft triple track. I think these have about 60 compression and hybrid soft cover again 2 peice. Ibam also going to get a box of regular chrome soft and try them. Handicap 16, driver swing speed 101 -104mph, 7i 83 -87
  9. I am sort of function over fashion, but still I like to look good on course. I have 3 pairs of golf shoes all new balance all waterproof and all super comfortable. Spikeless grey Spikeless white I wear these on nice clean days where its not too soft or muddy. Spiked black shoes I wear these in wet or soft days. Better traction in wet or lose soil. I play often so I try to alternate shoes so i do not wear same shoe two days in row. Call me old school, but the trend these days to ignore dress codes bothers me. Ever sit in restaurant and see a man wearing a hat at dinner table? I was raised that men take off there hats inside and especially at dinner table or when meeting a woman. No offense to anyone's preference, but for me wearing sneakers to a golf course is like wearing a t-shirt or cut off jeans. There is a dress code for golf and its embarrassing to see people dress like they are doing yard work. Lol, man do I sound uptight or what...sorry. .
  10. Wow I am a club ho. Since jan 2020 Diablo edge r irons set Rogue cf18 iron set Mavrik max iron set (back up set for sale) Mizuno jpx919 hm iron set (current player) Wedges. Callaway sureout 2 56, and 60 Callaway mack daddy 4, 52 Cleveland cbx2 52 and 56 Driver/wood Epic flash sub zero Mavrik std Mavrik max Mavrik sub zero (current player) Fairway woods Razr black 5w Mavrik 3+w Mavrik 5w Mavrik SZ 3w (current player) Mavrik SZ 5w ( current player) Odessey triple track 7 putter. Countless shafts . Seriouly I have 5 different drivers shafts and an extra set of project x 6.5 steel iron shafts. I was going put these in mavrik max but then I got jpx919 hm with tt tour concept shafts, which pretty quickly replaced mavriks in my bag and put mavriks on ebay.... Next up. Club building tools on my work bench. Reshafting. Regrippjng etc.
  11. I have experimented with set matching wedges and specialty wedges. I have come down to set matching up to sw, and have a callaway sureout 2 60deg lw. Mizuno jpx919 pw 45 Aw 50 Sw 55 SO2 LW 60 deg I hit all wedges with full shots I chip with AW. Lob out of bunkers. Mizunos are new to me so still working on distances with full and less then full swings. Generally Pw 130-115 Aw 115-100 Sw 80-100 Lw 60-80 Inside 60, is either a easy lob or a chip. It seams to be so windy this winter I am hitting more knock downs or bump and runs rather then high shots. I have played mack daddy 4 , Cleveland cbx2 and sureout 2, all in 52, 56 and 60. I am loving the gaping with jpx wedges, 45 50, 55, I light pick-up jpx lob too.
  12. I have played for 21 years now and just started playing fairway woods. At first it was ego. I could hit my 3i 230, once every 20 or 30 tries. This year I added a mavrik 3+ 13.5 deg strong 3 and a mavrik 5. I absolutely love the 3w and2 5w both off tee and fairway. I use all three woods off tee depending on shot I am looking for. I also love the fw so much I am interested in 7w. I carry 13 clubs now and have been debating 4i or 7w. I think 7w might be better then 5i to hold green on 200yd par 3's and approach shots. 4i would be easier to hit stinger or keep low when needed. I can deloft 5i easy enough. The mavrik Fairways woods really launch ball from rough. I have no trouble getting out of 1st cut with either 3 or 5w. If really deep rough I usually use iron. I can control trajectory by simple ball placement slight swing adjustment. There is something very satisfying of cracking a 230 yard approach shot from that has perfect trajectory and lands soft. Also I find the fw easier to shape then long irons. Long high and straight or fade draw, and a screaming low line drive that turns the corner like I am steering it. Seriously, I would definitely pick up a 3w or 5w and give it a shot..... I say yea to fairway woods.
  13. So it's official, I am addicted to swapping equipment in my bag.

So I was debating swapping shafts on my driver and  3wood to match my 5w which I love.

So doing my research i realized I could just by new woods for almost same cost as shaft replacement.

So I had mavrik max driver , mavrik 3+ and 5w.

I just ordered following from callaway preowned .

MAVRIK sub zero 9.0 driver aldila rogue 130 msi 70s

Mavrik sub 3 wood same shaft

    Mavrik 5w same shaft.

After a year of swapping drivers I am going back to the first new driver or sort of.

I was cruahing the epic flash sz, long as hell, but a little wild.  In the year since I have started playing in earnest, I have tried all of callaways  drivers. I am confident the  sub zero is right for me.   I hope it all works out but if not I can sell everything on ebay.

  14. Thanks for input. I was looking at that vise mount one for $104 i am liking that price, in fact it looks like it will fit into one of the workbench drawers. Will look into Maltby too. Paste sounds like good advice too.
  15. Looking for ideas on a cost effective and practical shaft extractor. I want to set up a small club building station in my garage or basement. I want to be able to swap shafts and grips without taking to a pro shop. I want to start building my own clubs, at least tweaking shafts lengths and grips. I found a pretty good selection of tools at golfworks. Anyone have experience with this one. Golf works. https://www.golfworks.com/golf-mechanix-heavy-duty-shaft-extractor/p/gm1080/ Clubmaskers compact shaft extractor. Gm1080 $224
  16. Nice bag. I recently started playing the jpx919 hm and I am really enjoying those clubs. Have a new set of mavrik max irons i am changing out shafts to project x 6.5 steel. Once I get those shafts in mavriks I will play a few rounds and try to make a choice for gamer and backup. Probable sell backup and get a set of Jpx921 forged to test out I recently started playingba mavrik 3w and 5w, and I am really loving both of them.
  17. Thanks for replies guys. And yes, I defintely have the ability to play very badly sometimes, just lose it. I think I was just getting so comfortable with my game improving little by little, I was too hard on myself for havjnga bad round. No worries. Just want to get back out there again soon.
  18. Yes that was definitely a consideration I thought about. But since the 5w already has the aldila rogue white 70S and I really hit that club very well, and I previously used same shaft on my last driver, I think as long as I get a fairway wood version of same shaft for 3w it might work out. Clearly have to see if driver is good with the new shaft., if not back to the hzrdus. BTW, when I was fitted at club champion, I had the rogue stiff on my driver. I have since switched from mavrik std with fitted rogue stiff to mavrik max with hzdrus xstiff. Same 70g weight for both. I just feel like xstiff hzrdus is a little less forgiving then the rogue. Peak distance is a little longer for xstif hzrdus, dispersion and and avg not as good. So clearly for me I would rather hit a 250 avg with better dispersion then a potentially longer bomb at expense of dispersion. The longest drive with mavrik with rogue shaft was 275, whereas the longest drive with max and hzrdus was 293.
  19. I have been playing 2-3 times a week at one of two local courses that I would consider my home course. I have been shooting in mid to low 80's consistently. Was invited by a good friend to play Seaview Country Club bay course yesterday. It was around 40 degrees with 20 mph winds off the bay. I shot 91. I was all over place off tee with driver, to the point where after 6 holes i switched to 3 or 5w. Either way point is i was seriously indecisive and lacking confidence. I was surprised at how poorly I played. It was even difficult to pick right irons. I know wind made club choice and trajectory more difficult, but I really felt just indecisive. I chipped and putted pretty well on whole, but I did 3 putt twice, which I rarely do. Approach shots where short or long, I think I hit gir 2-3 times. Sleeping on it and looking at shotscope round history, i think I can point to 3 reasons for poor play. 1. Confidence. I did not know course very well and I was just apprehensive. Seaview bay course is wide open but Fairways are lined with bunkers and mounds of super thick nasty brush like clumbs of weeds. In summer missing fairway on this course is instant death in winter its a slow tortuous slog looking for ball. 2. Wind The wind was cold and biting. I was not cold, but any side spin was just blown out of all proportion. Any high shots just died short or blew long. Fades and draws where not really happening for me. 3. Excitement. I haven't played with my good friend for a month or so. I was happy to see him, and really enjoyed round despite losing a couple really nice drives.
  20. Yes I understand. So know my big dilemma is choosing shaft and flex. I was leaning towards hzrdus smoke black 70 xstiff that's on my mavrik max driver. My 5w has the aldila rogue white 70s. I used this shaft on my previous driver and kinda think it worked out better then the hzrdus, but that might be just my swing changing for worse. I ordered a new aldila driver shaft to match 5w. If it works out then i guess i will pick up another aldila for the 3w. I think testing rogue first then going to hzrdus if rogue does not work out is current plan.
  21. I am constantly tinkering with my bag. Trying new drivers and irons. Swapping shafts etc. So I end up with different shafts and gripsnin my bag. I have for for now think I have the ideal bag for me. I just picked up a set of mizuno jpx919 hot metal 5-9, pw,gw,and then bought a sw to complete set. The 5-gw have the tt tour new concept x100 shafts. I love these shafts. The sw has the modus tour stiff, and my surout lob has the kbs wedge flex. I defintely want to get all these clubs with same grip, lamkin sonar mid size, just have to change the sw and lw to match the rest of irons. I probable want to reshaft sw to match rest of set. Not sure necessary for lob wedge. Now onto woods. Should I get all four dr, 3w,5w,7w all on same shaft profile? Definitely want same grips, it bothers me when I pick up a club and the grip is different. I was playingvtge golf pride tour velvet align std size , but new set of irons came with the lamkin sonar mid size and I really like the way they feel.
  22. Yes. I get that. When I did have a 4i i did use for those long approach shots, but what i mostly used it for was for stingers outbof the woods. I canndonthat stinger shot with 5 or even 6i, so that is not relevant. Sojit comes down how dominant want to land on green and which club i will be more consistently directionally. So far. I am definelty more accurate with my irons, but my mavrik 5w is really close. I am leaning towards 7w because I think it will launch higher and still go 200 yards. Instead of buying two clubs, I am going to keep bag as is and just add the 7w. Its kinda hard to find 7w in stiff or xstiff flex they are almost all either senior or regular. So that leads me to another idea floating around in my brain. I have been thinking of reshafting a my woods in the same shaft profile. So right now I feel like I hit the 5w best with driver 2nd then 3w. Driver hzrdus smoke black 70xstiff 6.5 3w evenflo riptide 60s 5w aldila rogue white 70xstiff. I already have two extra driver hzrdus smoke shafts They are both 60Stiff. I also have a aldila rogue white 70xfor my driver. So I am going to visit my local shop and have him reshaft my 3w with one of my hzrdus smoke driver shafts and see if it plays better then evenflo, meanwhile I will keep rogues on driver and 5 wood. Eventually I want all three to have same shaft profile and grip, not sure if this makes sense or not. Grips for sure.
  23. Played everyday this week so I just had to give them a little love. Inplay allot of golf so these will never be pristine. Sat. 18 holes 2 hrs Sun 18 holes 2hrs Mon. 9 holes 1 hr Tues 18 holes 2hrs Wed. 9 holes 50 min Thur 9 holes 58 min Thats 81 holes in 6 pretty cold days. My shot scope v3 watch and tags tracks time on course too. Love it. Shot 41 today, but I struggled off tee. Nothing dramatically bad but still it is vexing. Yesterday I drove lights out, and struggled with putter and chips. Today I chipped and putted pretty well, but was too far left off t all day. I had one really beautiful drive today. Hole 9 420yd par 4. Hit mavrik max driver off T. Hit down right side of fairway , nice low perfect med trajectory, drew a little from right side to middle about 20 yards. I was really please when I rode up on a 121 yard pitching wedge, 293 yard perfect drive. PW to 16' from pin. Missed birdie put,. Left it 6" to left of pin for tap in par. Great way to finish round today. Here are pics.
  24. Played everyday this week so need to clean clubs up a bit. Pics to follow.
  25. Here are my average distance on good clean shots, not best shots or worst shots, but this is what I feel comfortable hitting each club. Mavrik max driver 250-270 Mavrik 3+w 230-250 Mavrik 5w 200-230 Jpx919 hot metal irons Gap here 41 or 7w 5i 175-185 6i 165-175 7i 150-165 8i 140-150 9i 130-140 Pw 115-130 Gw 100-115 Sw 75-100 Lw 40-75 Inside 40yds I use GW to chip or LW to hit flop. ( I used to be better at flop but have since seamed to lose the ability to hit it consistently got to watch Phil's videos again) Now these iron distances are with normal swing with control, normal trajectory which is a little higher. I can manipulate ball flight by moving back ball and de lofting a little, for instance I can get 5i out to 200 -220 with the right swing, but clearly a smoother more controlled swing helps me improve accuracy. So I am thinking of following bag changes. 1. Mavrik max driver. It's forgiving, but I am going back to sub zero. Either epic flash or mavrik. If I am gonna hit driver and take the risk, I want the reward of a monster bomb. Mavrik max for me feels like it's designed for low swing speed guy to poke it out 230. 2. Mavrik 7w or jpx4i I used to hit my rogue 4i 220 on trackman, but my swing was stronger and less consistent back then. Now I am really more focused on accuracy then distance. (Why this took 20years to sink in is really funny) So I can add 1 more club to be at 14. So 4i, 7w? Not really interested in hybrids, not that I am purist at all, but there is just something about the look of those hybrids that bothers me, especially when addressing ball. I love to look down at address and see my slightly closed iron or fw. So I might just by both 4i and 7w take driver out and play a few rounds and see. Not sure i even need driver some of my best scores ever where without driver in bag. There is just something about that big sexy tee shot that keeps it in my bag. To be honest I know it's pure ego, not scoring, just to see the other guys jaw drop when I crush it 275-290 yds. Is very satisfying. Silly I know, lowering my score while enjoying the round should be the goal, not crushing distance.... Sorry for rants. I need a golf buddy.
