  1. Curious how/why handicap affects the results? Or is that just internal information on who's using it kind of thing
  2. I think the sample is fine, the couple fittings I've gotten, I'm rarely taking more than a couple swings with each head/shaft combo before the fitter is changing. The biggest takeaway from me was how much the results change when you go into the data tab and select different swing speeds/handicaps. All the headlines and graphics and social media interaction stuff touts BIG WINNERS and MOST ACCURATE and all that, but just changing one setting to another, the most wanted Ping doesn't even show up in the top 10. Cobra and Mizuno look average at best on most of the graphics and front facing stuff, but for what feels like a good majority of golfers, they show up top 5 in almost all categories. The testing and data is great. The presentation feels a little misleading when it puts one above the others without any detail or additional info.
  3. Feel like the full data tab needs to be top of page, this is where the money is. If I'm doing this right (big if) the Ping "winner" is barely top 10 for ball speed, spin rates, or carry for low-mid handicappers with swing speeds between 91-110? Feels like this should be the window for most golfers going to this length for $500+ on a driver or something, but the results don't seem to match that. Would reeallly love a breakdown of the testers if it was weighted that much more towards higher handicappers or I'm just missing a correlation between the launch data and the "playable shot" metric or something. Love geeking out on stuff like this, for better or worse, lol.
  4. Anyone have a preferred site? I've done a trade-in with 2nd Swing and the PGA superstore site, seemed to be reasonable (although 2nd swing said my old wedges weren't in as good a shape as I thought they were.....had to send them in to find that out though) Just wondering if there were any secret sites out there or if you've found one generally offers more than others. Gonna replace my driver this season, would rather not just post my old one on facebook or whatever.
  5. Stay away from the Puma Ignites. I generally like pumas for general casual wear, so I got a pair for golf and the fabric on the heel inside wore out after about 6 months. They're pretty snug, probably doesn't help (comfortably so, I never had an issue walking in them, but definitely a little work involved in getting them on). I saw a review for them when I got them that said this happens, but hey, it's just an online review, that won't happen to me! whoops. Definitely going to stick to the FJs or adidas this season. Side note, anyone have thoughts on if the BOA systems are worth the extra cost? I walk 90% of the time.
  6. This thing on? How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Played a bunch growing up through high school. College (and then life) kept me out for awhile, but got back into it a few years ago, now back playing a couple times a week. Hovering right around 80-82 last season, hoping to start breaking 40 more consistently this year (mostly play 9 hole league rounds after work) What do you love about golf? Get outside, a good walk, good company, good competition, and can also just go play 9 by myself and enjoy the quiet. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Been reading for awhile, love the lists and testing methods, always good to get reviews from people who've actually used and tested and not the "I got it yesterday, it's awesome!" reviews from ______.com. First posts, so no, don't know any Spies. Where are you from? What is your home course? Eastern Iowa right on the river border with Illinois and Wisconsin, there's a handful within 20 minutes of me I jump around on. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best thing is course availability and affordability. Worst is having to take 3-4 months off every winter (got my garage setup though, nothing fancy but it keeps me sane) What do you do for a living? HVAC design and installation How’d you pick your user name? It's my name. Not very creative, sorry!
  7. Can't really find anything on the google, and I know there's a MGS post on the site about keeping up with new releases, but wondering if there's anywhere that has a calendar or something of all the new upcoming releases for the big brands that aren't out yet? Basically need (want) new shoes and a carry bag, and I don't want to go out and get a "most wanted" 2021 model if that company is going to drop a new and improved version in March or something. Thanks!
