  1. Thanks! Gonna celebrate this afternoon by playing a highly regarded new course here in the Houston area on a beautiful sunny low 70s day!
  2. Finally got to play a round with the new putter and the results were mostly good. Made a few good putts in the 10-15 foot range and even sank one from the fringe that was 30+ feet. However, I also had a few dreadfully short lag putts so that's something I need to keep working to get the feel of. I got my putter regripped yesterday with my preferred Kotahi grip (it's a unique grip designed for its own putting system) and it felt great during my 15-minutes of practice last night. Gonna see how it works in my league play tonight. Feeling really good about it!
  3. Well, the RX3 arrived a couple of days ago and it was in immaculate condition. Looked like brand new. Cost me about $100 instead of the $300 Cure is selling them for on their website. I got to take it to the practice green last night for about 20 minutes and was very impressed. Putts in the 4-8 foot range were almost automatic, which is unusual for me. The putter just feels very stable, which I suppose is what their whole High MOI pitch is all about. I left all the weights on (I've always preferred a heavier putter) and adjusted the shaft angle to be just slightly below fully upright. I think the only real adjustment for me at this point is getting used to gauging how to swing it on the longer putts, but I think with a bit of practice, that won't be a problem. It's also got the standard factory grip so I'll probably replace that with something thicker, perhaps a SuperStroke or another Kotahi like I have on my current putter. So overall, first impression is very promising! Can't wait to take it onto the course and put it to a real test!
  4. Thanks, I just found what appears to be a great deal on a used RX3 on eBay so I think I'm going to give it a try!
  5. What is it about the RX5 that you liked better than the RX4? The MOI is quite a bit higher which supposedly makes the club face more resistant to twisting, as I understand it. Is that what you liked better about it? I also prefer a heavier putter head and the weight adjustability of the Cure putters is another reason they interest me so much.
  6. Thanks for the input. I'm currently thinking that the RX5 and perhaps even the RX4 have heads that are just a bit too large for my liking. I think the RX3 or perhaps the CX3 might be more suitable to me visually. I've been monitoring eBay pretty regularly to see if the proper deal pops up. Some of them have looked good, but will have a shaft that's either too short or too long; I think I could work with anything between 34.5 - 35.5 inches. Regarding your comment on the modern putter shafts, that's something I really have no knowledge about. What benefits are you likely to gain from these shafts over whatever Cure is currently using?
  7. Are you still using the Cure RX4? That one looks very intriguing to me. But since I don't have an opportunity to try one out, I was wondering if you could comment on the sound. Since the head is made out of aluminum, I'm wondering whether it makes a high-pitched "ping" sound when striking the ball. I read somewhere else that someone didn't like the sound it makes and I have a feeling I might feel the same way about it.
  8. FWIW, I previously used the SwingU app until I was told about 18Birdies, which I like much better. I've only used the free versions of both so I can't compare their relative merits on the paid-only features.
  9. Sometimes you can only laugh about this crazy game and what it does to us. Played in my weekly 9-hole Spark Golf league Wednesday evening and was -1 thru the first 4 holes. Felt like I was in total command of everything. Then proceeded to go +7 over the last 5 holes despite still hitting a lot of quality shots. Ended up with a 42 which is about the norm for me, but couldn't help but think, "what if...?" Oh well, at least I can take away the positives and feeling better than ever about my iron play. Last weekend's session with my instructor really seems to have gotten some things on the right track.
  10. I have a bad tendency to either hang back or to bump my lead hip forward but then let my tail shoulder drop so that I'm still actually behind the ball. This sounds exactly like the problems I've been fighting for the longest time. My lower body fails to keep up with my arms and/or I dip my right shoulder during the downswing, both of which lead to me chunking my iron shorts, particularly the shorter clubs. But identifying the root causes is the first step and at least now I generally feel like I know what I did wrong whenever I hit a poor shot.
  11. Sub70 is a cool company. I've got one of their putters and really like it. Their customer support is great.
  12. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about the Edison, but the swing weight is just so different than the rest of my wedges. I think it's mostly due to the heavier shaft, but they didn't offer a shaft option more similar to what my other irons have. I think having an LW that feels more like my other wedges is likely to work better for me. We'll soon see.
  13. Just ordered a replacement SW for my PXG 0211 set because the grooves were so badly worn down. Also decided to have them make me a LW to see if I like it better than my Edison (don't hate me @Josh Ross!)
  14. Absolutely. Someone needs to fund all of that golf in your retirement years!
  15. Very cool! Hope she sticks with it and starts taking down those records!
  16. What school and events does your daughter compete in? My eldest was running middle distance for University of Houston up until last month when she decided she'd had enough.
  17. Yeah, it's been a good time so far. Handicap-based and emphasizing fun more than competitiveness. This is the 3rd year they've been running it at my local club. We typically have anywhere from 8-12 teams showing up on any given week. After the round there's usually a small group of us that hang out for a drink and chatting about our rounds.
  18. Morning everyone. Really looking forward to playing in my Spark Golf league this afternoon. The past two Wednesdays we had crappy weather during that time whereas pretty much every other day had great weather. Two-man best ball for 9 holes. Fun format, especially when you have a partner who can carry me whenever I'm spraying balls all over the place LOL.
  19. After the OnCore Elixr, Maxfli Straightfli is my backup (the former replaced the latter as my go-to ball). They're both good, but I like the firmer feel of the Elixr a bit better.
  20. The Elixr 2022 has been my ball of choice for the past year or so. I like the crisp feel and all-around performance seems very solid. Great ball for the price.
  21. Congrats, fellas! I finished T9 out of 974, so close and by far the best I've ever done in a contest like this.
  22. 1st Tie Breaker: What is the Cut Number? +2 2nd Tie Breaker: What will be Tiger's Score after the 2nd round relative to par? +3
  23. I've got the 59 and it's been working pretty well for me.
  24. Looks like my comment that you're quoting somehow got hacked. Weird.
  25. Great win, but I'll tell you who's really doing the sweating and pacing... Scott Frost!
