  1. Congrats to the lucky testers. I'm really interested in the results for the Tour ball. I'm always on the lookout for a deal on a great performing golf ball. Being relatively new to golf I lose a couple per round it seems. It's rare for me to use the same ball for an entire round.
  2. Congrats to the testers. Curious to hear their feedback on the fitting process and if the putters improve their putting statistics.
  3. I did some additional testing in the Full Swing simulator at our local Y (nice, right!) I was comparing the Titleist test ball against the Taylormade Tour Response stripe. I didn't feel like I was hitting it the best that day but my results were consistent; though I will admit I deleted the less desirable strikes. It became very obvious to me that I need to turn down the loft on my driver as my spin rates were quite high as was my launch angle. Here are my Driver (Callaway Epic Flash, stiff shaft) results. Ball Total Carry Club head Launch Backspin Height Test ball 231 206 94.4 15.0 2806 67.6 Tour Response 231 207 95.1 15.4 2744 69.4 The balls were essentially the same off of the driver. Next I moved to the Pitching Wedge, 43 degree WIlson D300, 3 years old with plenty of use. Ball Total Carry Club head Launch Backspin Height Test ball 117 108 65.8 26.4 7488 63.4 Tour Response 118 109 67.4 25.9 7377 62.9 Again, the exact same results; I can detect no real difference in the performance of the balls. The weather did get nice for Upstate NY last week and I got out on a sunny, calm 55 degree day. With so many leaves down and covering the fairway, I was very hesitant to use my driver on the test balls as I didn't want to lose any. Since I was playing solo and well ahead of the group behind me, most holes I played 2 balls. And usually from 130 on in, I hit all 3 test balls, plus 1 or 2 of the Tour Responses. On course I felt like I got a bit more yardage out of the Tour Response, and it seemed to stop a little quicker too. That mirrored my first writeup using fairly new Cleveland 52 and 56 degree wedges; the Tour Response flew a little further and stopped quicker. I've enjoyed doing this test and it did enlighten me to using the simulator more for driver setup, and to check gapping on my bag. Being in Rochester, NY, it is near the end of the golfing season and many local courses have closed. My only wish is that the balls had come out a month earlier so I could have gotten more on-course testing with them. Have a great Holiday season everyone!
  4. 2023 Titleist Golf Ball test This is my first testing opportunity with MyGolfSpy. I am 64 years old and live in the Rochester, NY area. I first started playing golf way back in the mid-70’s, borrowing my dad’s clubs. Back in the day of real woods, no game improvement irons, etc. All my golfing high school friends moved away after college so I gave it up. Fast forward to 3 years ago and I was invited to play a round. As I saw my trail and road running and mountain biking activities diminishing, I thought this would be a good sport to take up and still get some exercise. Needless to say, I got hooked. While most of my purchases have been from FB Marketplace and eBay after research, I am looking forward to getting fit for clubs this coming year. I’ve taken lessons and I’ve seen some improvement. Like most of us, my biggest issue is lack of consistency. I received my sleeve of 3 Titleist test balls late November 6th, 2023. Here are my first impressions. Appearance: not as bright a white as a Pro V1. Test balls are not cosmetically perfect; I can see defects in the top coat; e.g. bubbles, drag marks. Looks like I have balls from Cavity 2 and Cavity 3 of their mold; I could not find a cavity ID on the 3rd ball. Dimples on the test ball are noticeably larger and deeper than a Pro V1 with almost like an edge/lip around them. Curious to see if the extra lip is to give more grab and spin. And how durable is that thin lip? For comparison, I compared the test balls against a sleeve of new Pro V1’s and a new sleeve of TaylorMade Tour Response Stripe. Putting: The green I was using was the target green for the short game area and not maintained to the level of a regular green. However, I was judging sound and feedback. Of the 3 balls, the test ball when struck was lower in register; not a higher toned sound like the other 2. I preferred the lower level of the test ball. Feel seemed similar across all 3 types. I did not find it better or worse than others for lag putts. Around the green I used my 52 deg/10 deg bounce Cleveland RTX Ripcore, new Fall 2022 and a 56 deg/12 deg bounce Cleveland CBX2, new Spring 2023. Grooves were clean to start. Grass was slightly damp with temps around 55 deg. The Pro V1 was much more clicky than the other 2, the test ball was again lower frequency. I hit shots from 10 to 40 yards, and for my swing the Tour Response seemed to have the least runout, while the test ball was the worst. It seemed to runout several feet more than the other 2 ball types. With a pitching wedge from a longer distance I had similar results; the other brands seemed to stop more quickly than the test ball. Bunker: (it’s really more hard packed dirt than sand, so I only hit a few shots). I hit a few shots out of a bunker on the Executive course that is adjacent to the short game area. As it’s mostly hard pack, I was more just picking up the ball than getting into the sand. I’m hoping to get out to a course before the snow flies that has decent sand but I’m not optimistic the weather will cooperate. Cleaning up the balls upon returning home, I was surprised to see that my wedges had not scuffed the surface of the test balls. Those tiny little features around the dimples were so far holding their edge. Next I moved to the Full Swing simulator in our local YMCA. My first session I focused on just my 7 iron; my plan is to evaluate the wedges for spin, and my driver at a future date. The following results are for 10 good swings; I eliminated any mishits (I’m still a novice; I have mishits!). Ball Carry Total Clubhead Ball Backspin Peak Height, feet Titleist Test 153 168 75.1 111.2 6020 5.2 Tour Response 155 169 75.4 110.2 6310 69.9 Pro V1 148 166 74.2 108.1 5702 58.5 I’ve never done a ball test like this before, and what I found most amazing is that my clubhead speed was pretty consistent throughout the test. The Pro V1 was the last ball I tested and the speed drop off may have come from my getting tired. Distances and speeds were essentially the same, certainly within several standard deviations. Backspin might be another story; there was roughly 300 rpm difference between the 3 ball types.
  5. Congrats testers! I've been a Garmin user for over 15 years in my running career and use the Venu Sq for golf; it's simple but gives me yardages to the green and hazards. I'd like to upgrade to something with more features so I'll be looking forward to reading your results and observations.
  6. Good luck testers. Curious to read about your feedback on these.
  7. Congrats testers! Eager to hear results, especially if someone tests a blade style.
  8. Congrats testers! Curious to see how this might compare to other swing aides.
  9. Congrats to the testers. Definitely be following this one.
  10. Congrats to the testers. Really looking forward to the reviews on the Aerojet irons.
  11. Congrats to the winners. Interested to see how they compare to the major brands.
  12. Good luck testers. I’m really interested in the review of the AIT4. Have fun!
  13. Interested to hear how the different models perform for real people, not PGA pros or YouTubers.
  14. Good luck testers! Especially interested in the feedback on the 101T’s!
  15. I work PT at a running store and there are some shoes we can't get right now. Hiking boots are almost unavailable. I suspect it will take several months to sort itself out. I bought a pair of waterproof trail running shoes-good traction and dry feet. And as others noted, you are a popular size.
