  1. Grabbed some Kirkland V3s at Costco yesterday. Will break them out on Friday.
  2. I picked up a box of V3s at Costco on Sunday. Looking forward to trying them out on Friday. I had been playing Maxfli Tours back when you could get the deals (4 dozen for $100). I am hoping the V3s will take their place.
  3. I totally understand your first point. With respect to feeling comfortable at private courses, there is a fairly broad spectrum (e.g. initiation fees from $1k to $40k+). As a member of one on the lower end of that scale, our club has members from all walks of life and, at least in my experience, everyone is welcomed. Members who don't want to socialize can easily keep to themselves and just use the facilities to play/practice.
  4. Another excellent point I left out. I can often walk a round in under 4 hours at the club. When playing a late afternoon / early evening nine, I often have no one in front or behind me that I can see.
  5. We decided to join a private club in March and have no regrets (we had previously joined and left a semi-private years ago). For me, I knew it would get me out playing more often which has been a goal of mine for years. The initiation fee was fairly modest compared to the high-end member-owned clubs near me. The monthly fee is about half of my former car payment (that end last September). We have a quarterly food/beverage minimum that is fairly low (and alcohol counts towards that minimum). As far as benefits go, there are many: Unlimited range time Amazing short game practice area (multiple greens, each with a bunker (one deep, one less so)) Spread out tee times which allows/encourages walking (more than half do walk) Generally can get a tee time for the same day even on weekends Teaching Pro is regarded as one of the best in the area (construction is almost finished on an instruction facility for him (simulator, garage door opens up out on to range, etc.); he has already helped me tremendously (member rate for teaching is quite affordable) New to Golf for Women Clinic has encouraged my wife to start practicing and playing/helped her meet a group of friends at the club to play/practice with Fun social events (e.g., Around the World events on Friday evenings comprising 9 holes of Captain's choice; chef has food/beverage stations between some holes to have themed appetizers and drinks) Networking and meeting new people (and seeing them again). For example a father and son joined me and a friend for a round a few weeks after I joined. The son was a freshman in high school and put on a show (Eagled the Par 5 7th after his dad applied pressure saying "this is his eagle hole" as we walked onto the tee box (he bombed a drive to 160ish out, put his second within 6 feet, and drained his putt). Father and son were extremely nice and I got to watch a show first hand. Free tees Lack of congestion resulting in rounds under four hours Organized tournaments I'm sure more will come to mind I have not yet grown tired of playing the same course and I do still play other courses in the area from time to time with friends/colleagues.
  6. I enjoyed watching it over the weekend as well. Excellent golf on a visually amazing course. Doesn't get much better.
  7. I like to arrive 30 minutes early or so to check-in and warm-up by hitting a few at the range, roll a few putts, etc.
  8. I couldn't agree with this more. Joining also got my wife into playing. Brad hosts a 5 session New to Golf Clinic for women periodically. As a result, she now has a group of friends she likes to meet up with to practice/play. And she is also willing to go play/practice with me (it was her idea to hit the range yesterday). My only regret is not joining sooner.
  9. Thanks! He is great. When I joined the Club in March, one of my work colleagues told me that folks from his club come over to our club to work with Brad. I now see why...
  10. Good morning, All! I haven't been on as much over the last (hectic) month. Hope everyone is doing great. I had a lesson in early June that made things click mentally. Previously I was adrift in guessing at what I should do to improve my swing (and previous lessons with other Pros did nothing to help). Brad Luebchow (teaching Pro at Maple Chase in Winston-Salem, NC) changed all of that. Given that I have an engineering background, Brad let his Golfing Machine fandom out a bit and explained what and why for a good foundation for my swing (previous instructors simply said try this or that). It has been a rough month implementing changes (first a bit better, then severe lows, following by things starting to click on the range yesterday throughout the bag. Of course, now I all I can think about is getting back out there to see if I can repeat and get better... Have a round on the books for Friday afternoon, but not sure if I can get out before then. May have to suffer! Have a great week!
  11. I used to carry a 32oz that didn't fit, but still refill it several times around the course even here in NC. Our club is good about keeping ice cold water in the coolers.
  12. I watched a fair amount yesterday and today. Pebble beach is mesmerizing!
  13. Since I started walking every chance I get, I needed a water bottle that fit in the water bottle pocket on my Sun Mountain 2.5+. Grabbed this 26oz Rtic (and immediately threw on some @GolfSub70 stickers).
  14. Final Review posted. Man, this was fun! Also, it ended up raining for a bit on Friday during my round so I got to try out the umbrella holder. It worked great.
  15. The opening to that bottom hole/eyelet is what made me think that it was for something. The umbrella seemed ok without the strap, but with it feels much better.
  16. Ran out and tried it with a free work golf umbrella. Seems pretty secure when I use the elastic strap. I just grabbed a tee time to play 9 this afternoon. I will try out the umbrella for shade and report back on security.
  17. Can that elastic strap be used to wrap around the umbrella handle to hold it more securely in some manner? I will try that out as I finish up my full review.
  18. 9 am tee time here. Love golf on Mondays! No better way to start a week. Have a great day all!
  19. The one thing I miss from walking generally is no sand/seed bottle with me to fill in my divots in the fairway. I feel a bit of guilt. I was looking at the accessories brochure that came with the cart, and am thinking about grabbing at least the bottle. @edingc should I consider any of the stuff you bought?
  20. But it is not practical to think that people will have a chance thoroughly clean it before folding it up and going home...so I don't think you can be blamed. It is a very minor thing to me, but given that this is a review I thought it worth raising for awareness.
  21. I noticed the beginnings of some cosmetic wear from unfolding/folding the cart. Kind of a shame because it is so good looking. Anyone else notice this?
  22. My Sun Mountain 2.5+ doesn't twist at all. I'll show whyn in my review.
  23. I played another 9 yesterday as well and continue to fall more in love with the Nitron. I'm nearing the point where they'll have to pry it from my cold dead hans.... 4 foot rat snakes like it too!
