  1. No telling with me. When I was a flat belly I always tucked just to show off. Now that that ship has sailed I'm untucked. Baseball hat if I play early or late, bucket hat mid day. I usually dress fairly neutral but will pull out the bright pink shorts or flamingo shorts with friends just for laughs. For a practice round at the local muni I'm not against wearing a tee shirt.
  2. It's not just high handicap players either. Lots of single digit guys play cheaper balls
  3. This is my thought also. I work out for exercise and play golf for fun, so I usually ride. The other day I played 18 with a cart then went and played basketball. But if you're older and walking is all you do for exercise than why not combine them? I'm 66 BTW.
  4. Awesome. And yes by bad fitting I don't necessarily mean he was fit badly at the time, we just age out of that fitting as we get older. I'm all into A flex shafts now but was fit for a stiff only 3-4 years ago.
  5. They also have great deals on fittings. I paid $25 for a driver fitting. You can't rent time on a LM for that. Hit my own drivers quite a bit just to see the numbers and what I needed to improve. The PXG wasn't any better than what I had (Wishon 919 and Cobra Extreme) but when they allow you to use the cost of the fitting towards the club it was a no brainer to get the PXG for $95 more. Sold my Cobra for $170 and got a new driver and made $50
  6. I've been fooling with drivers a lot so far this year and my Wishon 919 THI from what, maybe 2010 is within 5 yards and maybe even more accurate than modern drivers I've tried. Maybe people are realizing that they're all really good now and the gains from year to year just aren't worth the money, even if it was only $400
  7. I'd pay $600 for 20 guaranteed yards and I'm cheap. But that's too good to pass up. Your friend however was just badly fit before so you should easily be able to find him those 15-20 yards for $200. Most anyone getting another 20 yards are just because they were horribly fit before.
  8. Golf Moose sells vouchers for Reflection Bay for $119. For tourists in Vegas that's not bad.
  9. Isn't the problem bomb and gouge? So you'd still have the (very popular) bomb without the (not so popular) gouge. And if you can't hit wedge from the rough and a longer iron might not hold the green, accuracy would become more important. Or I might be totally wrong, lol.
  10. And it might be non-linear, the decrease at slower swing speeds may be minimal Now that to me would be wrong. You shouldn't punish guys who are longer than others. If the ball goes shorter for some it should go shorter the same for everybody, or at least very, very close to the same. That would be like having two 3 point lines in basketball. One for the kids who can make a conventional 3 and one for kids who can't shoot from that far.
  11. I have no idea about golf ball make up, but would it be possible to design a ball that goes the same distance off the driver that it does now but doesn't go nearly as far with irons? Some type of spin profile maybe? Something where guys can't hit 150 yard wedges? Sort of a have your cake and eat it too thing, you still get the big drives but guys have to hit more club into the green. I realize I'm completely talking out of my ass so it might not be possible.
  12. My point is, who cares what auto part we call it? The point the person is trying to make is that the shaft is more important then the head. And they should probably just say that.
  13. You might be right but it's semantics. When someone says the shaft is " the engine " or "the transmission " or "the whatever" we all understand that they're saying the shaft is more important than the head. Maybe they should just say that.
  14. I personally buy used balls but only local from marketplace. I've found guys who live on a course and the balls were hit in their yard and surrounding areas, no water balls. Cheap, no shipping charges and haven't had any problems.
  15. I think you'll get better as you play more and get used to it. I did. Like you I played poorly at first, often very poorly. I'm much more relaxed now. Some of it was how casual we play with friends. Ready golf, putting out of turn if a guy's not rerady, etc.
  16. I'll often carry 2 drivers, one a straight/draw driver and one a fade driver. I choose which to hit based on the way the hole sets up.
  17. Do most of you guys follow the advice of going up in loft as you age? I've tried 12* and 14* drivers and all they do for me is go higher and shorter. I'm getting my best distance with an 8* Wishon 919.
  18. You went from a stiff shaft (that you say played more like x stiff) to an L flex??? Did you demo the L flex? Hope it works but this has disaster written all over it
  19. White pants look like your trying too hard for the PGA pro look for me. But if you like them, wear them ,who cares what anyone else thinks?
  20. Golfsmith had a 1000cc head for awhile years ago. Bang used to sell a 750cc head I believe and still sell a 600cc head. Banggolf
  21. Not sure what that has to do with my question. I'm just wondering if TM is using the Twist Face technology? I had an M5 and was really amazed at how corrective it was of mishits.
  22. Haven't read the whole thread but does the new Stealth still feature Twist Face?
  23. I'd wonder about the guy from the company that bought that fake Scotty. I can hear it now "hey guys we need to pitch in to get $500 to get Bob a Scotty Cameron putter for retirement. " Then goes out and buys a $50 fake and pockets $450
  24. As others have stated, are the new drivers R flex or stiff? Do you have them set up so the face is open?
