  1. I did some of my own ball testing today and then did a search for information on the New Release 2024 Bridgestone balls. As a result I stumbled onto this thread and thought I would share some of the information and data. First off, I have been playing the Bridgestone BX & BRX for about three years, along with the Pro V1. In Colorado when the temps start to drop I use the BRX. I also gave the BRX from last year a harder look after it tested so well in the 2023 My Golf Spy ball test. Today just for fun, I tested the BX and BRX form last year, The Titleist Pro V1 from last year, The New Callaway Chrome Tour and The New Bridgestone BX released within the last few weeks. I am in Northern Colorado at about 4800 feet, I am hitting the 2021 Taylormade P 790 8 Iron with S Nippon NS 850 pro shafts. The launch monitor is a Bushnell Launch Pro unlocked. I used the 5 closest average hits. Indoors off of the mat I tend to see spin rates drop slightly and rollout goes up slightly. Indoors off of the mat I also tend to turn the ball over slightly more than outdoors off of the grass. My club path is typically inside out and my normal ball flight is a draw. I had the pin set at 160 yards. I noticed my Ball speeds jumped with the new Bridgestone and my offline deviation tightened up. Below are the results of today's comparisons. The BRX is listed twice in the photos
  2. Did an indoor 7 Iron comparison at Golftec of my 2021 Taylormade P790's with NS850 Pro S shafts and the New Mizuno Pro 243 KBS with Tour Lite R shafts. Loved the new Mizuno Irons. Still waiting to do some outdoor testing on grass to compare shafts before making the purchase.
  3. I love my NS 850 Pro shafts I have been playing the NS 850 Pro shafts (Not the Neo) in a stiff flex all of last season in the 2021 Taylormade P790's, switching from the project x I/O 5.5 shafts in the same head. I can say since making the switch I have seen a more consistent ball flight with incredible stopping power on the greens. One of my issues with the project x shaft was that my rollout on the greens was unpredictable. I have an unlocked Bushnell launch Pro to get me through the Colorado winters which produces slightly different numbers when hitting off of the indoor mat. (slightly less spin and a little more roll out). I am planning on making the switch to the Pro 243 this season once I can get some swings outdoors insuring I have the right Nippon shaft with the new irons.
  4. I've actually done all 4 I prefer to get there about an hour ahead so I don't feel rushed. Now we live 100 yards from the range so it usually ends up being 20-30 ahead of time. I like to start out hitting a few wedges then a few 8 iron shots and then 3-4 drives and finish with a wedge. Maybe 20 balls, then head to the 1st tee and putting green to roll a few putts.
  5. @ AzRoger. The roasting was just a hobby. When you realize what quality bulk green coffee costs and how much better it tastes. You realize quickly that there are a few cheap ways to roast you own coffee at home. I usually purchased my beans at https://www.sweetmarias.com I took a few classes on line during Covid to dial in using the roaster and understanding the software and roasting profiles. You can pick up a roaster like that directly from the manufacturer for the price of about 2 sets of new irons + a little bit to get the paper work filed to get it to the USA . There are a few online forums that sell used roasters and they vary from $2500 to $6000 in that size range. Bigger gets steeper fast. Still contemplating going down the road of an online roasting business??
  6. I was roasting for the past 3 years and then we made a move to a townhouse near the golf course and sold the roaster when we sold the house in June 22. Looking for the next roasting location and a bigger roaster?
  7. I just went back to Club Champion yesterday for a fitting and ended up ordering a new set of clubs. Some may agree or disagree, but part of my reasoning is my current set ordered direct from the Manufacturer and the poor quality of the specs direct from the factory. I recently installed a Bushnell Launch Pro system in our home this year which has allowed me to see my gaps, look at spin rates, launch angles and overall gather data on my swing weekly. On a recent trip over the pond last month I rented clubs because it was more of a trip to spend time with my wife rather than the usual golf involved and I wasn't sure how many rounds I could get in (2). On one of the rental sets, I played a brand new Taylormade set with Reg (F3) Recoil shafts. Although they were too soft, I was able to shoot a respectable round after hitting the clubs on the range and slowing down the swing a bit. That round opened up my eyes to how good I felt not grinding through a round. I am approaching the big 60 and have been considering making a change to my current set which have given me the 2 lowest rounds of my life this year. I had considered looking at a few different heads during the fitting but first we looked for a shaft that felt good and produced good numbers but was less weight. One of my complaints with my current set is there wasn't a lot of head weight feeling during the swing. Part inconsistent swing weights in the set and part me getting older and slower. The specs were also off from what I had ordered and I recently took them into a local shop and had all of the specs re-done., with the exception of swing weight. I wanted to do this before making the CC appointment and re-look at my numbers and gapping in the set. My 8 iron was $$$ my 9 iron I thought from day 1 something was wrong with it producing inconsistent results? (I usually attribute it to the Indian not the arrow?) After hitting several different heads during the fitting and intending to put a set of Mizuno's in my bag, I ended up ordering another set of P-790's 5-7 (will re-shaft my current 4) and the new P-770's 8-AW. All with Nippon NS Pro 850 stiff shafts. I tried shafts from several steel fiber, straight graphite and ended up with the Nippon. The new combo should give me better consistency in my launch angles and descent into the green, along with being able to find a smoother transition through the swing. The misses with this combination for me was obvious compared to the other combinations I tried. I wasn't looking for distance but rather small misses. I can't hit hit it pure every time lol. I have been dealing with the same guy at Club Champion since they opened their first store here in Colorado. A great guy who has become a friend and loves what he does. We actually met when he worked at Golfsmith before they closed their doors in Golden Co. Hope this helps?

  9. My two cents for what its worth?? I had never been fit for clubs in my life until 2012, when my brother and I went to Callaway Golf in Carlsbad Ca and went through their fitting. My brother is a single digit handicap and just this year replaced the clubs he bought in 2012/2013 x-Forged Irons. In 2012 I was a 12 handicap and after going through the fitting I also ended up with the Callaway X-Forged irons which with a lesson prior to the fitting took me down to a 3 over the next 18 months. Regardless of what people say about indoor vs outdoor fittings. I have become friends with the area manager for Club Champion in Denver. I have been through a few fittings for Driver, Putter and most recently a new set of irons. You won't go wrong with Club Champion. I have met several of the fitters and they all seem to love what they do. I will say that when you go to be fitted be honest with yourself and take the swing that you normally use on the course to the fitting. I have always gone to the range prior to going in to get fit so I am loose and feeling good about my swing tempo etc.. Don't get caught up in the distances of clubs while comparing brands, instead look for the set that is going to give you the smallest pattern of mishits. Good luck on the journey.
  10. I went ahead and placed my order today for a new set of P790's and noticed that if I changed the grip from the Gray MCC+4 to the Red MCC+4 it reduced the expected ship date by a month. Just FYI. I figured I would go ahead and get in line.
