  1. Okay, since you asked, I would like you to test the cheapest 3 piece urethane cover ball that I've ever come across, the Spalding SD Tour X. I've seen them for as low as $14.99 per doz. check these out and maybe there's a few other low end urethane balls out there that MGS could test.
  2. I did have a great day. Thank you.
  3. I gave my opinion about the check go on another forum, but I'll share it again. I've never put a lot of stock in the check go because in their ad they resort to animation when showing the "any ball" going off line. Show a real ball on a real green under controlled conditions staying on line when properly positioned and going off line when the balance point mark is relocated. Animation doesn't prove anything.
  4. Try Golf Partners USA, good prices, fast (last order came in 41 hours) and free shipping. They're out of Japan, so the minimum order is usually 3 doz. Not the biggest selection, but they have Pro-V, Chrome Soft, Srixon and others.
  5. I decided to give this TGF "fitting" a try, mostly out of curiosity and it's only $9.00, so what the heck give it a shot. I answered 4 fairly general questions, what's your handicap, swing speed, angle of attack and tempo, (not exactly pin pointing my swing) I clicked on the pay for button and a few seconds later got my results. The first recommendation is the Mizuno ST-X with a Fujikura Motore X F3 60 stiff shaft, with this club I would pickup 6.52 yards and be 8.03% more accurate. The second choice is the Titleist TSi4 with a Mitsubishi Tensei AV raw Blue 58 stiff shaft, this is where it gets interesting. According to TGF, I would pickup 19.20 yards but only increase my accuracy by 3.31 %, I questioned the results I was told the Mizuno's accuracy was more important than the Titleist's distance. The problem I have with all of this is TGF doesn't know how accurate I am with my existing driver,(no question on accuracy in the survey) do I play a fade or a draw. I might be another Fred Funk with my driver and stink up the place with my chipping and putting, keeping my handicap up. One day somebody might develop and online fitting that works, until then go see a club fitter that knows what he's doing. Finally, if TGF's recommendations were spot on how many golfers out there would forgo a 19.2 yard increase and opt for the club giving them another 6.5 yards, Bryson DeChambeau wouldn't (bomb and gouge baby, bomb and gouge).
  6. Three and a half weeks into rehab for knee replacement surgery, probably the most miserable 25 days of my life. The only time's that were close were the 5 rounds of golf that I tried to play on the bad knee earlier this spring just before I went under the knife. Slowly getting better, but this rehab is just brutal, you can't wait for the surgery site to heal up before rehab begins, gotta jump right in before the scar tissue builds up. Pain meds and ice can only do so much. I just pray that I won't have to go through this on my right knee.
  7. Yeah, I agree with Tyler Webb, the GP Tour SNSR would be worth looking at. Nice size, the feel is a little spongy, but nice. If you want something with a firmer feel try Hireko golf's Karma knock off version. Good luck.
  8. Thank you. They are available on line at Golf Partners right now, being shipped out of Japan, $89.99 for 3 doz. You do have to buy 3 doz because it's out of Japan and it's free shipping. Not sure but this could be a close out price, like everything else in golf there's always gonna be new and improved every year or two.
  9. Anyone out there have any experience with the Honma TW-X ball ?
  10. Yamaha clubs were sold in the US market some 30 years ago or so. As I remember they tried to buck the system, when everybody else was coming out with titanium, Yamaha went with heads made out of graphite for both their "woods" and "irons". The graphite head "iron" did have a sole made out of stainless steel though, my understanding is that the face didn't hold up very well to the constant impact with ball and turf. After a period of time they left to US market. I'm not familiar with the AR-1 model, looks like your standard blade, if you're looking to buy a used set I wouldn't go more than $90.00 to a $ 100.00 for them.
  11. Just pulled the trigger on a new set of Honma T/W X irons, they're being closed out by Honma and you can now find them at a reasonable price (under $600) on ebay. Played one round with them on a bad knee, still felt sweet. Oh well, but it's knee surgery next week and a couple of months rehab before I get to really try them out.
