Both! I have ShotScope, so that gives me GPS numbers on my wrist. I love knowing front and carry distances for water and bunkers (especially on an unfamiliar course where you can't see them from the tee). On anything outside 100 yards, GPS is more than precise enough. Inside 100 yards though, I find a rangefinder is much better. Once you get into partial wedge shots, the difference between 60 and 70 yards is huge.

I think it's helpful to try to re-groove your swing without hitting balls. I often find that when I'm in a funk, I try to think my way out of it and then all of a sudden I have 15 swing thoughts every time I step up to the ball and it always goes poorly. Assuming you generally have a consistent swing, try to find that groove again and let the muscle memory kick in before worrying about the results. I'm working through this right now myself. Just re-injured my upper back a month ago, and after a TPI evaluation, I found that almost all of the power in my swing is coming from my thoracic spine and none from my lower body. So now I need to try to start incorporating my lower body, but with all of these changes, I'm overthinking things and only hitting about 30% of my shots well. I'm confident that once I can get to being automatic with the swing, things will be better.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing about golf here is that you can play year round with perfect weather. The worst is that a lot of the golf around here is expensive. What do you do for a living? I'm a middle school math teacher and I love it! How’d you pick your user name? It's my name!
