Yessir, made the switch to a 7 wood this year and I am extremely happy. For me it was how easy it was to hit as compared to my driving iron. I could never hit hybrids consistently enough to keep one in my bag and my 7 wood filled the gap in my bag perfectly.

MGS Beef with Rick Shiels? He addresses on his new podcast
Joel C replied to VtheGNMan's topic in General Equipment Talk
Agree, disagree, or agree to disagree. There are 3 winners here. 1- TW is getting free publicity for their new Stealth Driver, people are talking about it good, bad or indifferent. This is what they want. 2 & 3 - Sheils and MGS, how many more eyes have visited their sites from the other b/c of this? Would be interesting to see how many more views Shiels got this month b/c of this and many more visitors MGS got this month. My 2 putts…Sheils didn’t see much gain over last years tech and said as much, similar to when he tested the new Callaway Rogue Driver. MGS poster states they saw gains for every MGS staffer that tested, no numbers were given so it has no validity to me. Everyone’s ball speed numbers went up…by how much, a just a couple MPH…10, 20 MPH? No data was given and that IMO is disappointing from someone posting as MGS. I do agree that MGS post seemed to want to point out that this is an envelope pushing new technology and could be tip of the spear for how golf clubs are made going forward. Pointing out Shiels “meh” reivew of it seems unnecessary. -
It is my understanding that a heavier shaft will produce a lower ball flight and potentially less spin. My swing produces very high ball flight, when I got new clubs this past year I tested lighter and heavier shafts and although I am no tour pro, I did see a difference in ball flight. Because of this I found I prefer heavier shafts then typical so I can get a more penetrating ball flight. Everyone's swing is different though so I would test the 65g and 75g shafts and see which one best fits you and your swing.

I played it twice in 2020, have not played it this year. I will agree with cidgar. The course is fun to play and was in great shape both times. The facilities and service were amazing as well. You will definitely have a good time with the stay-and-play package with Ak-chin Casino.

That is interesting...the recent experience I had was that the new map had more detail (only one course to compare so far) I will pay closer attention on future courses bc that will be annoying.

Looks great. Amazing work!

You're welcome? That is why I posted a screenshot of the head covers and not the main picture. Lol.

Has SWAG Golf Taken over Headcover collecting from SC?
Joel C replied to MadMex's topic in General Equipment Talk
I think SWAG head covers are starting to pull ahead of SC. They have some awesome series head covers that they put out (garbage pale kids, street fighter, Masters tournament, etc) I have been trying to get their king of spades head cover for a while but as stated above I am not willing to pay the huge secondary market up charge. I see people post pictures of the SWAG and they have 8-10 head covers...I always wonder what kind of disposable income they have or if they just have a knack of getting lucky on original release. I don't know if I would ever collect them but I would like to someday have one...life goals. -
Overall are you happy with CT10 sensors? Obviously they pair nicely with your S60, but I was curious if you know anyone that uses arccos and have compared? Been looking to get some club sensors and I bounce back and forth.

I have the Fenix 5 and I will concur it works great and over a 4+ hour round of golf maybe uses 20-25% of the battery, not bad for GPS being on the entire time. i have run in to similar issues with downloading courses and transfering data from my phone. For me I usually need to restart my watch then for whatever reason when it connects and syncs it will get the course I need. I can force sync as much as i want but it only works when I reset the watch. If i had one complaint it would be that it misses shots when I go into the golf app on my phone to review my round. its not too big a deal as I can typically recall what I did on that particular hole and manually input it. Granted, there are better options out there to do this (Arccos), but it one item that I think could be maybe be addressed with a software update.

Upcoming trip to Kansas City, 2 rounds can be played. Any ideas?
Joel C replied to Gopokes14's topic in Golf Courses & Travel
Moved out the KC area about 12 years ago. Iron Horse and Dubbs are both excellent courses. A little hidden gem that I always enjoyed playing when I lived there was Swope Memorial GC. Awesome views of downtown KC and the course is near the zoo on a couple of the holes you can hear the animals. Course is is very hilly and (unless they changed it) the greens are original size to when it was built, I think back in the 1920s. They have some very small greens compared to modern golf courses. Target golf at its max if you want to hit greens in regulation at Swope. Where ever you end up playing, enjoy your trip and I recommend you make time to see the Negro Leagues Baseball hall of fame. Baseball fan or not you will not be disappointed. -
I have had the Ping Zing Bronze 85020 putter in bag for 20+ years. I have flirted with others from time to time but at the end of day the original stays in my bag. I simply have not found a putter of any style that I like better. That being said its been a long while since I tested putters water and there are some interesting tech advancements that I have caught my eye. I am thinking of looking at some of the Evnroll models and honestly the 3D printed cobra model as well. Putting has always been one of the stronger points of my game, so replacing a putter just for the sake of replacing a putter never made sense to me. It will take a lot to get me to replace my OG Ping Zing.

Welcome back the greatest game! Getting fitted for clubs can make a big difference and what people are saying is correct about getting the "right" fitter IMO. But if I was in your situation and just getting back into it, I would fit yourself. There are methods to determine lie angle, shaft length, swing speed, etc. You can then take these numbers and look for a good used set. Will these be perfectly fit for you, no. But as you keep playing and improving you will eventually be ready go make the jump for a full fitting. Again everyone is different and has different budgets. Do what is comfortable for you. No need to break the bank if you dont feel you or your game are ready to make that jump.

I compared them to BH Icons and also to Ping G425s. I enjoyed hitting the Icons, but i didnt feel my game was ready for a true blade. That said the Icons I demoed were more forgiving than i expected and my numbers were were pretty equal to the PTx pros. The PTx just gave me more confidence, probably 100% mental but having confidence over the ball matters IMO. I would put the Pings at a close second. More like a 1a and 1b. Most of my playing friends all hit Ping irons and I have sampled there clubs from time to time. Also being here in Phoenix it seems like someone knows someone that works at Ping that can get you a discount, but with the PTx and 435s being so close it didnt make sense for me to spend the extra $500+ for the Pings. Save that $$ for new driver. Glad to see you ordered a set of PTx pros, I have gotten out a bit more and thoroughly enjoy hitting them. I think you will be happy, I have been so far.

I just got a set of PTx Pro 4-PW and the Equalizer II wedges about a month ago. I must say the feel is amazing and if you are a audiophile the sound they make is beautiful click when striking the ball. IMO for bang for the buck they cannot be beat. I am looking forward to the 115°F heat to drop a little here in Phoenix so I can get out and hit them more.
