I hope Rickie gets back to form soon - pro golf is a much better product (from a fan engagement and entertainment standpoint) when he's out there!

With so many podcasts these days it can seem easy but like anything you gotta practice and get in the reps to do it well.
They have the content and knowledge to make a podcast that's valuable to the golf community, there's no doubt about that. I just hope they push through the start and solidify a schedule because like you said it's gunna take time to find their rhythm.

They have a good bit of work to do that's for sure, but the knowledge and content is there just gotta sort out the presentation.
It's probably worth deep diving successful podcast/hosts and taking notes to get back some the flow that Miranda brought to the party.

Although i don't know when, i do know there is another in the pipeline.
I believe with any new format it will take time for them to find their stride and rhythm.
I haven't listened to last weeks yet with all sorts of other things going on, but will likely try to catch up later this week.

Two vastly different putters. Neither one is better or worse than the other they just suit different types of putting stroke and stroke needs.
what are you looking for in a putter and why these two?

BK_Strozier got a reaction from MrBandit in ER10 Outback Mallet worth a look
I did a putter fitting at Evnroll and the ER10 was one of two final models that it came down to. The fitting also served as a putting lesson and in the end it was the tips and drills, learning from the midlock grip, and not enjoying looking down at the ER10 that lead me to choose the ER2 over ER10.
I am in love with the Evnroll face and have already started to see real improvement. I would recommend the Envroll fitting and their putters to anyone. I am excited to give the evnroll zero a roll one of these days but since it wasn't included in the most wanted mallets I'm not sure when it will hit stores.

Gloves last for a long time if you dont use them! I almost never wear one. If its super hot/humid ill put one on if i feel like im slipping too much. I also have very tough hands so i dont blister, even playing 108 holes in 3 days. I have weird hands though, short and fat so im very limited by glove options that fit well. Stuck spending 25$.
Fitting is never a bad idea, but if your still very inconsistent, youll be harder to fit well and the gains may not be as long lasting.
Part of the enjoyment for ME with this sport is playing with new to me equipment. For example, I dont buy a new putter cause its gonna make me putt better. I buy one for fun. Better putting comes from practice. If you have the disposable income, buy as much as you want.
Rules only matter if you keep score. You cant brag about breaking 80 if you used the old foot wedge 6 times and had 4 breakfast balls. Dont be that guy.
The great thing about golf is that you can enjoy it however YOU want!
My 3 tips for a beginner…..
ETIQUETTE! Dont hold up the course! Let smaller groups play through if you are slower, fix your divots!
HAVE FUN! Even the best in the world hit crap balls frequently.
PRACTICE!

Lots of questions here.
Golf gloves is tough to answer. Premium leather gloves in hot humid summers will not last as long. If you have a death grip on the club you will wear holes in the glove quicker. At your stage of the game I would stick with synthetic gloves. They will hold up longer. A premium leather glove can last a dozen rounds or less and cost twice as much as synthetic.
I wouldn't invest in a fitting at this stage but suggest you invest in lessons. You will get more bang for the buck with lessons first.
Regarding rules, if you want an official handicap you have to follow the rules. When you are starting out you need to enjoy the game. If you try to follow all the rules you will probably get discouraged. Golf is a hard game. As you get better you can start adding in more rules. For now a mulligan, foot wedge, free drop is fine. Pick up and move on after double par if there is a group behind you. Remember you have to keep the game moving or the people behind you will get irritated.
We were all new to the game at one time or another. Enjoy the process, don't get to frustrated and have fun.

BK_Strozier reacted to Snowy in Interesting Balls
Hello there.
I found these a few weeks ago and thought I might share them since some I need help identifying and others I just thought were incredibly cool.
The first one (the orange one) I need help identifying, it is has no other markings other than what looks like two T's, one white and one orange.
The second two (the yellow ones) I just thought were really cool considering my favourite animal is a (polar) bear, if anyone could advise me where to buy more of those that would be great since these two are by far my favourites out of everything I ever found.
The last one is the most interesting out of everything I found (the white one). It has a car of some kind of on it, with 'Team Saab' written underneath. This ball is a Dunlop DDH Marathon 1 ball, with a random 1 on another side of the ball. I tried looking for this and what I found is that Saab is either golf or car related? Not sure. I found no eBay results for this either but I might have been looking too specifically.
Either way I thought this was really interesting and I hope maybe to hear some other opions on these and what you all think.
I attached pictures of all of these below.

I disagree. I think Miranda offered more than she got credit for, even though she doesnt know a ton about golf stuff. I like all 4 of them just fine, but LOVED the dynamic of the 4 together. Well have to see how this plays out…..🤞🤞🤞😞

BK_Strozier reacted to GolfSpy_APH in 2022 MGS Forum Changes
Hello all!
We are slowly getting closer to testing season (no I don’t have any inside information …. Right now). With that there has been a lot of work going on in the background to enhance the site and bring some improvements to the site.
In this thread I will let you know all what is going on when we are getting close or about to launch any new features, structure and more.
Without further delay the first update we are bringing to the membership is actually a older feature which ended up on the cutting room floor, but is bring brought back to life by popular demand.
The Community Map!
What is this?
- The community map is a feature we had years ago and it’s pretty simple. It is a map of the world where you can tag your location and where you are located.
Why now?
Well the long and the short of it is I was able to get approval to purchase it and again it is a feature that has been asked for time and time again.
Another key feature we are working on is Community engagement… I know we hear this all the time, but this is all part of a bigger plan to increase get togethers, events and a phenomenal community not just online, but in person as well.
What can we do with it?
This is a bit different than the older member map which has been renamed to Community Map. Again you can tag your location (home) so other spies can see who is all living in your area.
We are also introducing a secondary function within this single application which is course reviews. It is pretty simple, have a course you want to write a review for? Go into the “create” go down to Community Map Marker and Select Course Review.
From there find it on the map, mark it, add in the course name, a brief description and hit submit. It is after this that you are able to write your review on the course (unless it has already been created) and you can grade it out of your 5 stars however you like.
We are also incorporating (at a later date) some of the player profile features (if you have it filled out) where when hovering over the player you can see their player profile data.
Where is the Map Located?
Well you can find the map here: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/communitymap/
Or simply go the the “Members” Tab at the top of any page and when the drop down comes you will find “Community Map”
This was a very useful tool in the past in getting members together and creating a community that is more than just a forum.
The great thing is it is also optional. Don’t want to take part? No requirement for testing or profile completion or any of that. This feature is there for you to use as you wish. Whether it is to check out course reviews, write your own on a course that has a review or doesn’t or seeing what spys are in your area which you may want to get a game in with this feature will allow you to do that.
This is only the beginning and we have a lot more in store to bring you in the near(ish) future.
Cheers,
Jamie

That's an amazing stat! I had no idea and saves me some money for the time being. I am being honest with myself on the distance of my 3wood carry. It's why I haven't looked to upgrade that part of my bag despite it being a old beat up Ping G10.
So it's back to chipping and putting if I really wanna cut down on strokes. I've been working pretty hard at putting and got a really consistent 2 putt thing going on at the moment. I'd guess that when I start tracking my missed greens in regulation I will see 2 putts that lead to bogey's. Cause I know when I miss the green I don't usually save par.
I gotta say this forum is incredibly helpful. Seriously thank you. I'm so glad I found such an amazing resource full of such knowledgeable and nice people!

Very true, I am very fortunate to have access to lots of equipment and a GCQuad. But, my point was more about the statement that having an upward AoA is better than downward. Maybe it is easier to achieve or club lofts aren’t available to make it happen, but balls launch with spin, speed, and launch angle which is influenced by a clubs loft, AoA, shaft delivery, etc. if optimum distance for a ball speed is based on launch and spin, it should be possible to achieve ideal by either hitting up or down with the driver. Hitting up requires less club loft while hitting down would require more loft to get the same results. If a person hits down with the driver, can it do more harm than good to have them change their swing to hit up? What thing does hitting up allow that hitting down doesn’t? That’s really the question.
-
BK_Strozier reacted to revkev in Driver/3 Wood Swing
I do agree with that - although in reality it's pretty hard to get the proper spin rate with more loft. My teacher would not advocate trying to change one's swing just because it's driver. He would say that a driver's design will cause differences in the way the clubhead is delivered at impact. But he wants me trying to swing the same - same grip, start the swing with the core, ball position is a bit more forward but that's because of club design more than anything else.

You are also fortunate enough to hit a billion balls with every driver known to man. 🙂 I agree though that in the end we might totally mess ourselves up trying to chase some extra yards by changing our swing with driver.
So much depends on our goals. For the OP its important to recognize that the average driving distance for a scratch golfer is 250 yards. If you are actually averaging 250-260 with your three wood off the tee, distance is not what is holding you back at this point. You need to evaluate where you actually are loosing strokes, formulate a plan of attack as to what area might be easiest to improve upon based on your available time and your physical capabilities and go about it that way.
If your goal is to be better than scratch and you think that you have the available time and physical capability to do so then driver will need to be a part of the mix.
Of course too there is something really fun about smacking a driver as far as you can down the middle of the fairway so that might be incentive to start there.
Good luck regardless of what you try.

Looks like I a need to get a lesson, I've never had one and probably why I haven't ever figured out how to get that neutral to slight upward angle. I pulled the driver from my bag back in high school and just never tried to learn how to hit it. But If I wanna reach my goals for this next year and get a handicap of 5 or lower I probably need to learn how to swing a driver 😂.
I got a putter fitting at evnroll this last year and that basically turned into a putting lesson and since then my putting has improved dramatically.
Step 1: is probably to get a decent used driver. Step 2: is to get a lesson. Step 3: is to practice
