  1. So here are my numbers on Trackman with my G425 Max and the Otto Phlex shaft (I averaged the 7 best for a 222 carry average): Here are my numbers with the Paradym and the standard Hrzdous Silver 50 gram in stiff (7 shots for a 233 carry average): I also measured my G425 max with my Ventus Blue 5S against what they had at GG, which was a Ventus Blue 6R and the results were the same: I averaged more than 10 yards of carry distance with the Paradym. (230’s with the Paradym and 220’s with the G425 Max regardless of what shaft I was using). The fitter was useless except to point out the obvious- that my attack angle was negative and I needed to fix it… thanks Captain Obvious. It is interesting that even with my messed up winter swing (attack angle) I was getting more carry with the Paradym. I had my Ping set at 10 degrees (it’s a 9 degree head) and the Paradym was at 10.5- that can not explain the more than 10 additional carry yards. Anyone want to buy a brand new PING 9 degree head? The Otto Phlex shaft still feels the best to me, but I was getting better dispersion with the Hrzdz Silver 50 gram. If I get the Paradym I would love to see what it will do with the Grafalloy Otto Phlex. Thoughts?
  2. Bingo! I will get a free sleeve of Chrome Softs for showing up. I’ve got that going for me… which is nice.
  3. Callaway lists both the Ventus and Autoflex as options with upcharges. They have the non velecore Ventus blue as a standard option. I’m sure I’ll get some eye rolls from the fitter when I explain the Otto Phlex - it’s at Golf Galaxy, so I don’t really have a lot of confidence in the fitter. At least it’s free and I’ll get to see the numbers. Who knows though- maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
  4. I have an appointment to demo the new Paradym line on Friday. I’m going to take my Otto Phlex (Grafalloy) Ping 425 Max along with the the standard Ventus Blue I have for the Ping. What has me interested in the Paradym is the lighter head- I had to got to a 20 gram weight in the Ping to get to D1. The lighter weight in the Ping diminishes some of the benefits of the 425 Max, namely its awesome forgiveness. I’ve been reading that the Paradym is close to the Ping in forgiveness with a lighter head. So if I can go with an Otto Phlex in the Paradym and not have to switch out the head weight, I would be getting the forgiveness of the Ping with faster speeds I wonder if they’ll have an actual Autoflex to demo in the Paradym so that it will be more apples to apples. Or I may find that the head difference between the Ping and Paradym will be negligible and then I’ll just “waste” my money on a new putter. I’ll report back this weekend with the results.
  5. What is the highest MOI driver and where would the Paradym rank?
  6. Anyone know the MOI of the standard version with the sliding back weight? I saw a video where some Englishman said it was 9K. Can anyone confirm?
  7. True- for the 2’s. I wouldn’t “upgrade” my ER2v for the new 2’s. I’m thinking of switching to the 5.1. I would think the additional weights in the 5’s will make a big MOI difference- especially since the weights go all the way down the wings.
  8. Another thing I’m wondering about is how much a MOI benefit there may be in the new 5’s weights in comparison to my ER2v? How much sense does it make to upgrade from the ER2v to the 2023 models because of the weights? In my head, I’m always wondering if a slight upgrade in tech is worth it.
  9. So with the changeable weights in the 5’s, can the weights be re-configured to make the head face balanced? If so, does that reduce the significance of the interchangeable hosels?
  10. Oh man- I have a new ER2v in black. Love it. But I really like the look of the 5.1 in silver and black… and I REALLY like the changeable weights. This is not good.
  11. Hit the Grafalloy today on a mild day in NJ- tennis elbow felt ok. Hit a couple bombs when I swung easy. It feels much more stable than the Distanza. My miss with the Graffalloy was a mild slice, while with the Distanza. I had the dreaded 2 way miss. The distance on good hits seemed to be the same with both. I want to keep on comparing because so far the sample size with the Distanza is small - I played the end of the season with the Grafalloy. On another note- my son loved the Graffaloy “Otto Phlex” I made him with a Sim Max head for Christmas- he hit it really well today at the range. BTW- with the Sim Max I didn’t need to change the head weight like I did with my 425 Max. With the Sim Max I just added a layer of aluminum tape under the grip and a midsized grip and the Sim Max was at D1.
  12. Oh man- I have a new ER2v in black. Love it. But I really like the look of the 5.1 in silver and black… and I REALLY like the changeable weights. This is not good.
  13. I was able to give the PING DISTAZA a try today and it felt good- a little looser than the Grafalloy. I hit about 70 balls at the range- hit some real nice ones until my tennis elbow kicked in and I was in a lot of pain. The flight was nice and penetrating and whether it had a fade or draw it traveled in the cold- it was in the 30’s today, windy and I was hitting floating balls at a driving range with a lake. So I was happy with the DISTAZA (D0 swing weight in G425 Max with a 20 gram weight instead of the stock 26) Hoping my elbow heals and I can do a comparison between the Grafalloy and the DISTAZA.
  14. We just got snow in NJ- never lasts though… I will be getting on my friend’s simulator to get some baseline numbers for my irons because I was lucky enough to be picked to review the Nippon 850’s, so I should have some numbers on the tipped Evenflow 40 gram and the Ping Distanza 40 gram shaft.
  15. Just got my G425 Max head back from PING and I put the tipped Evenflow 40 gram on with the stock 26 gram weight and it’s at D1- how serendipitous! Can’t wait to hit it- could be the high MOI head with the 26 gram weight with an Otto Phlex effect- maybe the best of both worlds. I’ll update when I can.
  16. I would agree with this. I am deep into the Otto Phlex process with my G425 Max- I have a 45 gram shaft and replaced the 26 gram weight with a 20 gram weight- D0 swing weight. I’m loving it- very forgiving and so nice and easy and comfortable to swing something that light. Hits some bombs with it this late fall and early winter. Check out the thread @AlejandroM
  17. That’s what I was worried about- the dynamic swing weight won’t be affected (the head won’t feel lighter).
  18. I’m going to see if adding the washers inside the sensors may offset the 3/8 of an inch’s effect upon the swing weight. Do you think that’s a bad idea as it will add to the total weight?
  19. Any updates using the Ping Distanza 40 gram? I got a deal on one for my G425 Max. Hoping it works.
  20. Looks like it’s 3/8 of an inch. The red is the end of the grip, the green and black are the sensor.
  21. Not worried about being criticized my man- this is why I posted it. Call it “peer review” or vetting- either way, if its bad science, the idea should fall by the wayside. I no longer use the sensors as I now use my Garmin 80 to keep track of distances, so this is just meant to counterweight the club to bring it down to the desired swing weight of D0 or D1. Sounds like you don’t think that’ll work.
  22. So I came up with this idea to counterbalance Otto Phlex set-up and get the swing weight right: I took leftover Arccos sensors and add washers to them as needed. Just screw the sensors into the top of the grip and boom- done. This should make tinkering easier. Anyone see a problem with the method. For instance, I’m measuring to the end of the club, which is now the end of the sensor- would that throw off the calculation when using the following: http://www.leaderboard.com/SWINGWEIGHT ? What do you all think?
  23. Thanks. It’s funny- I had a Ping G30 head on the shaft originally and switched it to a Sim Max- I weighed the heads and they were exactly the same. The G30 was at D1, the Sim Max is at D2 with the midsize grip. I guess the adapter on the Sim Max is heavier. Crazy.
  24. Quick question. If I’m at D2 with a midsize grip, if I switch to a regular (lighter grip) that should bring the weight down, or no. My brain hurts and I can’t remember.
  25. Well folks, you will benefit from my mistake. I was taking an adapter off an Evenflow Senio 40 gram shaft and a melted the tip. Doesn’t seem to be damaged an inch up so I tipped it an inch. I’ll report back what that does to our Otto Phlex journey. Maybe my anger/frustration with my impatience (not enough heat when I made the first twist) will turn into something great. We’ll see.
