Been on a club journey in the last year. After playing a bag full of used clubs that I had used for several years, I decided to get fit for some new clubs in 2020.
I started with irons, and was set on getting the Titleist T200s, figuring I would benefit from some added forgiveness and distance. I got fit into the same shafts I had in my previous set, Project X 6.0. I was ultimately disappointed with my new set. The turf interaction was terrible, and I was digging into the ground quite a bit. I also wanted tighter dispersion on distance and found the T200s to be all over the place. I also found that they were a bit larger in the sole and top line than I was used to. A few months later I was gifted the set of Mizuno MP-20 MMCs currently in my bag, which I have absolutely loved. Performance has been great, distances with each club are tighter, and they look gorgeous at address.
I added the Titleist U-510 2 Utility Iron earlier this year, and I don’t thing I will be going back to hybrids anytime soon. It’s easy to launch and goes a long ways.
I was fit for a new driver next and it came down to the TSi3 and the Mizuno ST-Z. I loved both, but ultimately the ST-Z performed better for me in my fitting. I tend to struggle with very low spin and the ST-Z was getting me slightly higher spin than the TSi3.
The most recent addition to my bag is the Axis1 putter. Since this went in my bag, my putting as improved quite a bit. Much more consistent off the face and better distance control.
Up next will probably be my 3 wood. It’s been in my bag forever, and I don’t have many issues with it, but it might be time to explore something new!
