  1. What Player Will Have the Most Points -- Scottie Scheffler What Player Will secure the Clinching Point on Sunday -- Colin Morikawa Woohoo!
  2. These are still available -- as I said, willing to talk about these if you are interested. EDIT -- forgot to include that I will pay shipping.
  3. Hi - looking to sell these lightly used Titleist T300 irons. I bought them earlier this year and played ~36 holes with them, but decided these weren't for me. These T300's have NS Pro 850GH R-Flex shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips. The 48* AW is unused and still wrapped. I'm asking $900 for the set but (price drop in replies) willing to negotiate. Happy to answer any questions about them -- they are nice clubs, I just happen to hit other irons better.
  4. Hi all -- long story short, I want to sell a set of irons and since I'm lacking previous experience doing so, I'm asking for recommendations here. I know MGS has a selling forum but I'm not in there enough to know how effective it is. My non-golf experience with eBay hasn't been great and I don't want to immediately jump to something like Facebook Marketplace without knowing more. I'm not getting anything new so I don't feel a need to trade anything in somewhere like 2nd Swing. For those wanting more detail -- earlier this year I purchased a set of 2021 Titleist T300s, 5-AW, my first new irons in almost 20 years. I played a few rounds at my local 9-hole with them and I like them, but I ended up winning a contest for a set of TaylorMade Stealth irons (4-PW). I've now played a comparable number of rounds with the Stealths and I think I prefer them, but either way I want to unload one set or the other because I don't have a reason or need to keep both. If anyone has experience they'd like to share, I'm all ears.
  5. I'm sure you're right -- I'm betting the higher spin on TR is why I was spraying it left and right more compared to the lower spin balls I usually play. As I play more and (hopefully) get better, I might get to a place where the TR is actually the better ball for me. Here's hoping
  6. Jumping in here now that I've played a few rounds with the TR Stripe. For context, I'm an average hobbyist golfer, I mostly play my local municipal 9-hole, and my handicap is ~25. I decided to give these a try because I liked the thick stripe -- I wouldn't have to mark my ball with my own lines at all. Sucker for marketing, maybe, but I just liked the look. It was nice at address on the tee, too, not just for putts. I don't think it made an iota of impact on me hitting fairways, but it was calming (in a way) to see it pointed a particular direction on the tee. I didn't care for the feel hitting it, however. I generally play a "soft" ball, and in the last year I've played the Callaway Supersoft, Titleist TourSoft, Vice Pro Soft, and TR Stripe, and the stripe was my least favorite for feel. It felt much more like hitting a cotton ball when I compared it to hitting the Vice Pro Soft, which is my usual ball. This is also completely anecdotal, since I don't have any legitimate range or tracking data to back any of this up, but whether it was a greater tendency to spray the ball around with the TR Stripe or just the composition of the ball, I felt like I lost some distance and was having club up a little to hit the same shots. Obviously that's less impactful the closer I got to the green, but going off my phone GPS & the 18 Birdies app (I use the free version), it seemed like a loss of 5-10 yards with my driver and then varying smaller losses with my other clubs, down the line. Places where I would hit a Vice Pro Soft with a 7 iron were landing short and I found myself hitting (or re-hitting, if I was alone) a 6. I can't speak to greenside feel or spin, since I don't have those skills and I don't know how to intentionally put spin on the ball. As I alluded to above, I liked the stripe to align for putting but I saw no demonstrable improvement in my putting accuracy with the stripe -- just my same tendency to get the speed right and not be aimed properly or just miss the cup. In all honesty, this experiment has shown me how important the ball is even to someone as poor a player as me, since my worst rounds of the year were all played while trying the TR Stripe. After hooking a drive and losing a ball on the 2nd to last hole today I just grabbed my Vice Pro Softs instead of a new sleeve of TR Stripes and promptly crushed an iron to the fringe before hitting a great drive to start the last hole. I don't think the TR Stripe is a bad ball, mind you -- it's fine and I would play it again in a pinch -- but I've found that it's not the ball for me. If you're curious, I'd encourage you to splurge on a box and see how it works for you. Happy to answer any questions if people have them.
  7. That’s good advice, thank you. I’ll do my research on shafts before I go. I already know which grips and stuff I prefer.
  8. Awesome, thanks @RickyBobby_PR! Club Champion sounds like it might be the best option.
  9. Hi all -- doing research as I finally prepare to replace my 20-ish old irons. I know I should get fit instead of making assumptions on my own, so I'm looking for feedback/input/experiences with fitters in my area. I've read here and elsewhere generally that GolfTec and Club Champion are decent and TrueSpec is the best, but there's not a TS anywhere near here. I've also seen other places in the area, but in general I know nothing about any of these places and don't have any friends or family who've gone through a local fitting. For a little extra context -- I'm not very good so I'm definitely more in the market for a game improvement iron (think T300, Sim2 Max, Mavrik, or 921s). I've already replaced my woods (without a fitting, I know, I know) and am hitting my Sim2 Max woods well, but I know that doesn't always convey across club types. Anyone with any experience with fitters here willing to share recommendations? Thanks in advance.
  10. I was eyeing the T300s earlier this summer and saw them disappearing from stores, so I've been patiently waiting for the new release. I'm very excited to check these new ones out!
  11. I guess this is a good place to start... Excited to join the forum after lurking for months. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've been playing since my late teens in the late 90s. Which is basically my normal score -- I'm returning to the game after a decade of not playing much while my kids were little. I was never all that great to start with What do you love about golf? The opportunity to improve, to learn, to restart at the next hole, and the way the good shots stick with you. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? When I decided to get back into golf I needed to do a lot of research to improve my very dated equipment. I had never even re-gripped my clubs myself, so I had a lot to learn in many different facets and the MGS site has been super helpful. As for other spies, I found my brother also reads the site and never told me about it until I brought it up recently. Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm originally from Binghamton, NY (upstate) and moved to the DC area after college. My "home" course in NY is probably Afton Golf Club, which is where my dad always likes to play. But the course I've probably played the most and counts as home would be East Potomac here in DC, right along the river across from Reagan National Airport. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? It's great that DC weather gives you 9 months a year to play, but the heart of summer is rough and there's a battle over the early AM/late PM tee times. What do you do for a living? I'm a digital strategy/communications/PR type. I've worked in and around politics for twenty years. How’d you pick your user name? It was my AOL Instant Messenger name way back when and has been my Xbox Live account name for years. Figured it'd work here too.
