  1. Hey Everyone, My dad is new-ish to the Chicago area and looking to find a daytime weekday game. He's about an 9 hdcp, plays fast and is a fun and happy golfer. He's definitely looking for a group of that will be a little competitive, but mostly just looking for some company on the golf course. Happy to try to answer any questions, but would love to hear if anyone has any leads, or is looking for someone to add to an existing game. Thanks! Ross

  3. Nice! I grew up just north of Detroit, but my parents have been living in Ypsi for the last bunch of years now. Ann Arbor’s is great fun.

This spring I tested the the PTx Pros against the Icons, and the Callaway Apex and Apex Pros. I had similar confusion about the the seeming lack of feel in the PTx Pros. Making the comparison between the Callaway Apex and the PTx Pros, it was much harder to interpret the feedback from the Hogans versus what the Apex provided. I agree with your observation of the sort of hard feeling face, I might describe it as a slapping sensation at times rather than a smooth contact. I also had relatively good numbers for the PTx Pros, they were very competitive with the Apex, but the feel between the two wasn't even close for me. Ultimately, I ended up going with the Icons specifically because of the excellent feel. With a seemingly softer face that was informative on mishits, but provided plenty of pop and a surprising amount of forgiveness, they gave very similar numbers and had similar feel to the Apex Pros, but at only 60% of the cost. Been playing them for about 1.5 months and nothing but warm and fuzzy feelings so far!
  5. Got up here in 2017, so a relative newbie. If you ever get back up here (why would you... lol) we'll have to get you back out on the course!

  7. Excited to be here! How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Been playing for about 15 years but with a ~7 year hiatus in the middle. Getting back into it more seriously in the last 3 years. Currently sitting at about a 9 index. What do you love about golf? For me it's the perfect way to get outside and get away from all the other stresses of life. Nothing better than the feeling of being in the moment brought on by friends and competition. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I found MGS about 2 months ago as I was researching iron sets. Really impressed at the community feel of the site, and obviously the independent nature of the reviews, actively fact-checking the often over the top claims of the OEMs. Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm originally from Michigan, but living in Northern New Mexico now. Home course is the beautiful Los Alamos County Golf Course. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Hard to beat the incredible mountain views and excellent weather. There is no question that lots of the courses struggle with water supply issues which can lead to rough conditions in dry years. What do you do for a living? I'm a scientist How’d you pick your user name? Wouldn't you like to know!
  8. Ah! Thanks Kenny, I'll move this over there! Showing my transplant roots by assuming that NM would be in the southwest region...
  9. Any fellow New Mexicans out here? Wasn't sure where else to post with no NM in the title Excited to be here though, and hope to see some other NM folks to get out on the course with!
