  1. It’s Memorial Day and the family had an afternoon get together to honor all that served for our country. What better time to reflect back on how we are free, because of the brave. After some somber moments of remembrance, we started going about our business of preparing a family meal. It’s been a while since most of us were all together and not in a pond, creek, ditch, woods or a hayfield. After a belly full, of course the family business of golf came up. I took the opportunity to introduce the TeeLess Driver to the family. First impressions are sometimes the best so let me tell you a little about what they said! Remember YB’s family tells it like it is. I don’t know where I get it from. Timmy Tight Wad “You’re telling me this thing is supposed to be a fairway finder. Launch the ball high and be long. Dam, I can make some money with this thing.” Aunt Suzie “Ohhh but it’s just so pretty. I love the head cover too. The color combinations are just perfect. It’s probably too pretty for the likes of you.” YB: Thanks Aunt Suzie Sam the Scratch Sam is a scratch golfer if you couldn’t guess by his name. Don't tell him, but we call him that because he is always scratching his butt. Sam: “Are you kidding me, I’m not going to put this turd in play. This is for someone that needs help. Not for me. No way amigo. You're insulting me.” Spooky “Is it going to hurt when I get hit? Will I really be in the fairway? Will it hurt when I land from being up so high?" Chomper “Hey Spooky, suck it up you Sally. Grit your teeth on impact and enjoy the ride. You’re not getting any younger.” Captain Chip “It’s about freaking time someone came out with something like this. I lost an eye and chipped my tooth from hitting so many branches and rocks over the years. I would enjoy the fairways a bit more.” The Kid “Hey, will this really launch the ball into the stratosphere. I always wanted to be part of the mile high club!” YB: Kids, what else can I say except more YB’s are coming! Happy Hanna "I’m just so glad we could all be here together. That’s a nice club Yellow Ball. More Sweet Tea dear?" Mooch “Is there any more beer?” YB: Sorry, every family has one of those around that we have to deal with. Grandpa Grouch “Dam it Yellow Ball every time we all get together all you want to do is talk about golf. You know we all live and breathe golf every freaking day. Can’t you let it go for one day? Just one dam day. YB: “But Grandpa this is for the My Golf Spy Forum testing.” Grandpa: “Well ok I’ll let you slide this time. They do some fine work. Wait a minute they chose you. Ha ha ha I would put a LMAO emoji here but I’m Grandpa Grouch I laugh for no one.” There you have it a wonderful family reunion and some questionable comments. What else would you expect. There were a few immediate family members missing but you can guess where they were. Out playing golf as usual.
  2. I had the Teeless Driver ( Mr.T) out on the course again last week. This time I took the 5 wood out of my bag so Mr. T could go head to head with my 3 wood. I used both off the tee box and on my second shot on the par 5's. Two balls in play to see the differences. Same model ball (ProV1) for the test. Findings: Distance wise my 3 wood was longer. Mr. T did launch the ball higher. But I got more distance and roll out from my 3 wood. Both were easy to hit off the fairway. Mr. T was a little straighter. Out of divots Mr.T did better than my 3 wood. Higher ball flight and straighter. In a little while I have a YB family get together for Memorial Day and I'll get the family's impressions on Mr.T.
  3. I've been putting the Teeless Driver through its paces. I had some free time and decided I would try to get a Pro's opinion. So, I called on my good friend Freddie. We have been playing together on an off for a while now. So here we are just chillin waiting for our turn to hit and then I asked him to hit the Teeless. He just laughed at me. Then I broached the subject again a little later on and he just threw sand in my face. Well at least I tried. But we did have a good day together.
  4. Yes, I was actually chillin at Dollys house. She lives in Nashville. And for the bars, well, kinda lost count. Good thing I’m a ball. I couldn’t fall down. Just rolled down the street to the next bar. But it sucks being small. I got stepped on a few times. Note to self. Cowboy boots hurt. The next day I hurt , kind of felt like a green ball, and I wasn’t so smart. I hitched a ride 3 hours to Dollywood. I puked on one of the rides. Also note that yellow and green don’t look that good together. Let’s just chalk it up to a warmup for that Moonshine I heard about. I’m building up tolerance. Side note: I didn’t see my name on the rooming list. Don’t make me sleep in a golf bag again!
  5. Surprise! What else is better than coming home to a full (yellow) moon.
  6. I my opinion this club would be your fairway wood replacement. If you struggle getting the ball up in the air from the fairway, rough, or possibly a low lipped fairway bunker then this is a good option. Still is a rough mental challenge to play this in the center of my stance. It just doesn't feel right, but that where it works. I found it way shorter than my driver. But also a consideration is to use it on very tight tree-lined par 4's.
  7. Heck yeah. obviously, I'm a ho. Look at all the yellow balls out there! The highest bidder gets a free pass from torment. Even if it's a five spot he gets a pass. I guy my size can eat for a month on $5.00. That ain't workin', that's the way you do it Money for nothin' and your chicks for free
  8. I'm getting closer. Also closer to torment time (for those who chose to ignore my hint that I can be bought)!
  9. But I have always been the ball. And sometimes a ball buster!
  10. Day two, more individual testing. I played 18 today with the Teeless comparing 2nd shots on par 5's. I was making good center face contact. The Teeless was creating high shots and they were in the fairway as long as ball position was centered in my stance. Picture is a little blurry, but you get the point. It still was not longer than my three 3 wood. From a scoring standpoint this club did not help. From my perspective I want to be as close to the green as possible for the shortest approach possible. Here is a clip from out of a divot. If you look closely, you can see the trajectory the ball was taking out of the divot. I did measure the driver length and it is 43". So are the 3 wood and 5 wood I was comparing against. The face material is a maraging steel to give you more of a spring effect. However, after yesterday's range session I can already see scratches on the face just from hitting dirty range balls. My partner in crime wanted in on the action too. I'm thinking he just wanted to be part of the mile high club. After a little bracing for impact off he went into the wild blue. I might say he did enjoy the trip because he did find the fairway. So far, the club is doing some of what is stated. It launches high, finds the fairway as long as you hit it from the center of your stance. You can play it out of the fairway, rough, and divots. The only thing I haven't tried yet is hitting out of a fairway bunker. I think this club would be good for a higher handicap golfer or someone that struggles getting the ball up in the air from the fairway where a wood is required on your second shot. Off the tee it might come in handy for narrow fairways. For a golfer with a handicap under 12 or so this might not be the club for them. But saying that, I'm sure this was not designed for them either. Looking forward to doing some mass testing from random golfers. I have a spreadsheet put together for feedback.
  11. The Teeless Driver delivered yesterday. Today I was off to the driving range to practice all that it said it can do. I even had two other people hit a few shots with it. Not being one to hold my tongue and I've been told I might just be a little too brutally honest sometimes. So here it goes. First impressions: Looks. Not bad, looks like a driver at address. Mental problem is your looking at a driver. Normally you want to tee this up off the inside of your front foot. Instructions say to play it like a 7 iron. At address you just really have to focus on getting it centered in your stance which is not normal for a head this size. Bet your wondering what happens if you play it forward a little. ( Slice ) This club has a shallow face, so it is meant to be played on the ground or on a tee flush with the grass. Anything higher will result in a skied shot. Did it outdrive my driver? Not one bit. Did it outdrive my 3 wood? Was it straighter than my 3 wood? No. It was playing equivalent to my 5 wood both in height and length. Did it play well off the fairway? Yes. Did it play well out of divots? Yes. I took a video of this, and I will post it later on. Sound: Horrible. It sounded like a tin can. Even for someone with no ears like me it sounded bad. That's my first experience. Let's see what the other two testers had to say about it. The first person was a young woman I would guess low to mid 20's. She exhibited the same placement issue. She wanted to tee the ball up and hit it like a driver and play it off her front foot. I let her proceed to see if she would get the same result as I did. She wound up with a high slice. Once I told her how to hit it. She made adjustments and got good high launch and was finding the fairway. She did not like the sound, but she did like the height and distance from playing off the ground. The next person was probably a little older than the young woman. But he was definitely a player. I don't know what his swing speed is, but his driver was hitting the trees at the back of the range and that was over 250 yards. this time I told him in advance how to position the ball in his stance. He was hitting it pretty well, but they were all not towering shots. Was it as long as his driver? Not by a long shot. I mean not even close. He did say it was getting the same distance as his 3 wood. But also admitted that he didn't hit his 3 wood all that well to start. But his shots were in the fairway and did go a good distance. Roughly right at 200 yards. He was also not a fan of the sound. Day one, off to a good start with testing. Sometime next week there will be a senior shoot out at a nearby course. I'll get as many guys to hit it as possible and get their feedback.
  12. It's more like teeth jarring not invigorating. There are moments in life that we all want to forget. The second before and after impact are recurring moments. Probably reminiscent of Ground Hog Day. No matter what happens and where you go you will only get hit again.
  13. Finally, someone realizing it's not my fault! What a glorious day.
  14. Making some progress on my trip. Stopped by to see the Kings place. I thought the vibe of being in Graceland would give me some moves in preparation for some rolling, left, right, bobbing, and weaving around Pinehurst. Next stop I'm leaning toward Dollywood. Check in with Dolly and maybe learn a little something about flotation devices. Then check out some rides to get the feeling of the up and downs. Kind of equivalent to the trajectory off the club and landing of well ME! It's been a long winter so it's a quick fix.
  15. Other than a slight burn in my eyes it's no big deal. A little air time, a roll in the fairway and its gone. Of course I get a super clean when I go swimming.
  16. Sorry, late to the party. I was taking swimming lessons. Glad you noticed me with Freddy. I got to run I'm playing with Ernie right now.
  17. On a serious note. Thank you to MGS and the Teeless Driver for this testing opportunity.
  18. You should know better than that! Have another SLICE of pizza Long Island boy.
  19. Well now, If you saw the infomercials or read the write up on their website you should know! Everything will soar down the middle of the fairway. So I plan on a big family reunion at the end of testing. Sorry golf ball manufacturers, you can slow down production now.
  20. Pay attention! Did that work? Yellow Ball checking in for his very first testing opportunity! Thank you to MGS and the Teeless Driver for this opportunity. I’ve been around MSG for a couple of years and somewhat of a frequent poster. But I’m more commonly known as a royal pain in the dimples. For you newbies check out my “Yellow Ball Roast’s” thread. Careful, you could be next! I’ve been golfing for quite some time and managed to get my handicap to a respectable level. Well, that’s unless you are playing me at the time. I am a world traveler and have played countless courses with three times as many golfers as courses. So basically, too high for most of you to count. From my experience lots of you can’t count past FORE anyway. You guys sound so proud when you yell it out too! Like Tarzan beating on his chest. I don’t have a home course or even a home for that matter I live in the ball pocket of your golf bag. But my life revolves around golf, and I am grateful for it. Every time I manage to roll myself out of a pond is a great day. I would like to give a shout out to my human assistant (bet you thought I was going to give you a name didn’t you). This person takes dictation and puts my words (most of them anyway, after filtering) on paper for all to read. Takes me golfing and sends out a search party when I’m lost. Not being one to toot my own horn but I have created the yellow craze. Lots of people have switched over to yellow golf balls. They are just easier to track in the air. They also look quite sexy if I do say so myself. Someone even came out with golf shirts saying play yellow. Seems like everyone is trying to capitalize on my popularity. Don’t even get me started on the Emoji likeness that has swept the world. There are posers everywhere trying to be Yellow Ball. But the one and only YB is a member of MGS. So, let’s get real for a moment. Will this Driver be a lemon or lemonade? Note: Any funds received from testing will go right into the YB refurbishment program. What do I hope to accomplish? Well, based on the manufacturer’s claims will this club do the following? Launch Shots into the Stratosphere? Have Unmatched Accuracy and Keep the Ball Soaring? Have a Chunk-Proof Sole? Launches higher and carries consistently farther than your current driver. Puts you in more fairways than anything you’ve played. Boosts your confidence on every hole – even the ones that have your number. Outperforms your 3-wood for ease of use, distance and accuracy. Makes you wonder why every golfer doesn’t own one (and makes you glad your buddies don’t) If this is all true and you put one in your bag, I will have nothing to pick on you guys about. Does this mean early retirement for Yellow Ball? Tune in next week. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel. Let’s just see how this all plays out! Unboxing It has arrived. The boxing is nothing special. Plain brown club box with the club surrounded by brown paper. The club head had a bubble bag on it and a plastic shrink-wrapped film. The head cover was placed in the box in a clear bag. The packaging wasn't the best I've seen but it got the job done and nothing was damaged. Truthfully, I send out my other Yellow Ball friends in better packaging. But it's about how the club performs at the end of the day. I'm ready to get this testing going. I'll head over to one of the local courses later today and then I'll give you my first impressions. They did send me a nice note as well. Thank you again for this testing opportunity. Final review First Impressions 15 out of 20 From looking at the club it looks good, but it is a little gimmicky in looks between the shaft and the club head cover. They want everyone around to know what you are hitting. I think a little less is more sometimes. The manufacturer claimed this club would do several things. How did they try to achieve their claims? Let’s dig into this a bit. The club head is slightly smaller than a driver but much larger than a typical 3 wood which inspires confidence at address. The length of the club is 43 inches which is the length of a typical 3 wood. The club has a lower center of gravity and has the face angle set at 13 degrees. This combination enables the ball to launch high. They did not use the typical Titanium face material but rather a maraging steel as they claim it springs back quicker. Aesthetics 8 of 10 The Teeless Driver is a rather sharp looking club. From its sleek black head to the custom graphite shaft with the name of the club in bold on the shaft. The club also has a simple two dots for alignment. They are subtle so you need to look for them. The head cover is bold, and everyone will know what is in your bag. Now let’s talk about the sound. It is loud. Sounds like an aluminum baseball bat hitting a baseball. You all know that sound. For me this was not appealing. When the club hit the ball, you knew it and so did anyone around you. Club performance was pretty consistent across the face. The club came with a mid-size grip which also helped keep the club head from twisting on off center strikes. You had a good hand to grip contact. I did notice a small gap between the ferrule and the club head on the underside. The Numbers 7 out of 10 The club was accurate, and it found the fairways. Distance was disappointing. The club is not as long as your driver as the manufacturer claimed and probably closer to the distance of a 3 or 5 wood. I actually hit my three wood a little further. The trajectory was high, and it was easy to get the ball up in the air. In general, the club was very forgiving as long as you followed the manufactures set up position in your stance. I felt I really had to focus on ball position as the club just looks like you should play it forward like you would your driver. This not a club you can work the ball with. It just wants to go high and straight. Not a bad problem to have. On course 15 out of 20 This is where the rubber hits the road. Did I feel confident when stepping in for the shot with this club? Yes. I knew it would find the fairway. I actually played this club from almost every condition I could find. I tried off a short tee, off the fairway, out of the rough, from a divot, and even from a low lip fairway bunker. What this will not do well is get you out of deep rough. Granted this review is based off of my abilities, but I did not find that this club reduced my scoring, but I can see how a higher handicap player could benefit from this club. For something I would consider a gimmick club it actually hit the mark at around 70 percent. The Good, the Bad, the in between. 15 out of 20 It found the fairways and it launched the ball high. The sole was designed to be chunk proof. It wasn’t. If you hit behind the ball, it still chunked a bit. It didn’t hit as far as the manufacturer led you to believe. If there was something that I would really want the manufacturer to improve would be the sound. Play it or trade it 10 out of 20 This is not a club that I would put in my bag. But I would say a higher handicap player would see a benefit using this club. Yellow Balls Final score 70 out of 100 Conclusion: This will be different type of conclusion. I took this club on two additional outings that I used a little over 20 different golfers to hit and comment on the club. I stationed myself on a tee box and every group that came through I asked them to hit their normal club and then take a second shot with the Teeless Driver. They were then asked the following questions and I including the results. Did this club launch the ball higher than your current driver or three wood? 67 percent said the ball launched higher. Was it more accurate? 44 percent said it was. Was it chunk proof? 44 percent of the ones that chose to hit it off the turf thought it was. Did it carry further that your driver or three wood? 44 percent said it did not go as far as their driver. 22 percent said it went further than their three wood but 77 percent said it went the same distance as their three wood just a higher ball flight. Did you like it? 33 percent remained neutral. 11 percent did not like it. 55 percent liked it. Were you surprised with the performance? Most golfer did not have an opinion one way or another. But of the ones that did 33 percent said it performed well. In that 33 percent 22 percent wanted to get one. What did you think of the sound? Totally surprised by this one. Nobody had an issue with the sound. One person said it made it sound powerful. As soon as his buddy hit it, he wanted to hit it. Would you play it or trade it? 44 percent said they would play it. In summary: My opinion based on my observations. The higher the handicap golfer the more it helped them. The more accomplished played did not need this club. If you look at all the percentages, and what I witnessed, it’s telling me that this helped roughly half of the golfers. Some probably would only play a name brand club though. Some golfers are funny that way.
