brutal brutus reacted to Dware in Driver Hunting WITB 22
Thank you to everyone for the responses and I have finally made my decision on where I will be taking my abysmal driving talents.
It will be with the Taylormade Stealth. After looking back over my rounds and my FIR%, Acoustic, and Feel. I think that overall it gives me the most confidence and great results in regards to Length and Forgiveness. It was a fun process to give every new Driver in the class of 2022 a test drive. (Every Major Brand)
Looking back on it I wish I would have kept a journal or started a review channel on YT. I spent $25 on each Demo from Globalgolf great site if anyone else ever wanted to test a club their U-Try program is great. Stumbled upon it a few years back and it has helped me save $$ on not randomly buying clubs or going for fittings. In total I spent $175 on all of my testing and got a great understanding of what I enjoyed and what I didn't. Currently shooting in the mid to high 90's. Lets see if I can get back to mid 80's this summer.

TSi2s are a solid driver. I messed around with both that and a TSi3 in a simulator back before thanksgiving and was impressed with both. I wound up choosing the TSi3 for my driver because i figured that with it's combination of weight/hosel settings, i could find something that would work for me if i didn't mesh with it early on.(ironically, it actually works best for me in the neutral weight setting, LOL). Plus i wanted the lower ball flight that i was getting in the sim compared to the TSi2...
Before i had ordered my driver, i was at a local shop and was basically forced into buying a very lightly used TSi2 3w because of the price they offered it to me at. I didn't get to play for a week plus after i got it because of bad weather and ordered my TSi3 in that downtime. When i finally did get to play again, i instantly fell in love with the 3w and i spent the next 9wks worrying that i ordered the wrong driver. Luckily though, it wasn't an issue as i really like the TSi3 driver.
So, considering your fitting recommendation combined with the way i hit the TSi2 3w and my short but good sim session with the driver version i would recommend at least doing another sim session with a TSi2 before making a final decision.

Talking and noise don't bother me. There is a guy in our group who can hear the thunderous footsteps of a cockroach two fairways away. He once hit a bad shot and started complaining about the noise birds were making.

brutal brutus reacted to AndySP in How many balls do you lose per round
Likewise, I can go a few rounds losing none, but typically lose one every other 9- ish.
my first round of the year this year was a disaster on that front though. New to me executive course and I lost 4 balls in 12 holes. 3 drives went missing that were (I assumed) right where I wanted them, only to never figure out where they went. Hate that. Naturally I blamed the kids in front of us.

I doubt he's going to go but I'll keep working on him if there's an open slot

Now that's funny. I have 4 packages on their way here and the one that arrived first was the one predicted to arrive last, lol...
My new bag is now in-state and hopefully will arrive tomorrow but if not, I'm sure it will be here Friday at the latest.

I was like you almost 10 years ago. I couldn’t play a lot because of family stuff. I had an old set of clubs and not a huge budget to replace everything once I had more time to play. I hit the irons and wedges pretty well so I worked on upgrading the driver, woods and hybrid. I replaced those clubs pretty inexpensively through eBay. I did the same the next year with irons and wedges. Before you buy anything I would take the time hit some different clubs and try and find out what shaft flex works best for you since a fitting may be out of your budget at this time. Enjoy the search.

ebay is another option for finding a decent used set of clubs. Like cnosil said above, go hit some used clubs in the simulators at a local shop. Figure out what works for you and then looks for the best deal. That might very well be online on ebay or even 2ndSwing.
I went thru a similar thing last summer when i started playing again. Had a bag full of early 2000s clubs. Since then, I have gone a bit nuts, as you can see from my clubs listed below, lol. I've bought clubs from both ebay and 2ndSwing and haven't had a bad experience with either yet.
Just make sure anything you get from ebay is from a seller with a good history.

a couple of the better sites for finding some good stuff at the price you are looking for (sub $300 for an set of irons).
Callaway Preowned
2nd Swing
you get get a good set of irons from 3-4 years ago in that price range, and would have minimal differences from todays version.
Sub 70 golf is a newer direct to customer brand that makes good stuff, you can find all kinds of reviews on here showing its good. They sell lightly used preowned clubs for a really good price. $350 gets you a basically new set of current irons from them on their pre-owned site.
Great that you are getting back to golf, enjoy it!

IMO, I’d get back into the game and make sure you are able to dedicate the time you want to playing before buying new clubs. The clubs from 2006 are probably a little dated and may hinder you effectiveness but if you only end up playing a couple times a month and only through the summer it may not be worth the $300 investment. If you start playing once a week and still want to play even more then look into new clubs.
No one here can tell you if the orange dot Pings are the right fit as we know nothing about your swing. Your best option is to go to golf shops that sell used and see what works and then seek out something similar.

@MaxEntropyhas always invited his playing partner - Mike to our past events. The more the merrier?
@MattFcan I send you a cardboard cutout of me to use as your cart partner?🤪 I'm envious of you guys - hopefully I will be able to participate this summer.

If I can talk him into coming, is my regular playing partner welcome, or is this a forum members only thing?.
I don't think he participates here but it's possible he has an account. I'll have to ask him tomorrow. But he's good people... and a pretty good golfer. I think I've beat him three or four times(out of probably 50 or 60 rounds) since I started playing again. If he isn't already, probably close to a single digit index.

Looks like Deer Ridge would actually be 30min shorter. That sounds good to me. Plus i can snag some Massey's Pizza on the way home lol.
You might want to call them up and make sure they don't have anything going on that weekend like Apple did...

Stonelick is also over $100 before 2pm on weekends but it is an amazing venue.
I was actually thinking about arranging a fall meet up there after the prices drop down.
I'm still in as long as the drive doesn't get too crazy. It would have been ~3hrs to Apple from here and that's probably about my limit.

I'm still a possible, but I probably can't commit until the last minute. If you end up with an odd number I might be able to jump in late.
