How long do you play a ball before retiring it?
John Marchetto replied to aguybadatgolf's topic in General Equipment Talk
I was playing Bridgestone B RX and one round was it pretty much. I switched to the Maxfli Tour and those things are indestructible as far as a quality ball goes ; 36 easy. -
I had the same issue too. I added the blue tees and only the white showed up on the X5. I agree that the X5 shows the yardage from where you actually hit. I was waiting for my sync issue to be resolved before I looked into the effect. My theory was that the other tees would play into the performance analysis but I didn't dive that far into the SS app.

Not sure if this is the right place, I’m fairly new at this, but I wanted to give ShotScope customer service 10 stars. I got an X5 on March 18, which performed flawlessly as a GPS device out on the course and the scoring was easy to enter/verify and shot/putt tracking seemed to work fine. However, I had major problems with the device syncing so I could see and analyze my performance stats. Lee in customer service worked with me for about a week via email (they’re in Scotland time difference). We tried everything possible. I sent iphone screen videos for him to look at so he could see what was actually happening. He took the time to review and offer fixes. So it appears there is a problem with the watch Bluetooth connectivity. ShotScope made the return/replace process a breeze and even refunded the return shipping within an hour of me sending it from the post office. They surely stepped up to back their product and I would highly recommend ShotScope for this reason alone. When comparing products I went with the ShotScope over Arrcos because of the no subscription. Can’t wait to get the replacement.

What Is The Most You Would Pay For A Putter?
John Marchetto replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in Golf Clubs
$250 that's the max! It's the artist not the paint brush. -
Thought I would get this out there to see if others feel the same or not. Of all the rules that I think is the most unfair and inconsistent is not being able to take relief from a fairway divot. It is a man made alteration to the course that is not the fault of the golfer. You hit a great drive and then get penalized by being in a hole. You can tamp down spike marks, fix ball marks, move loose impediments, get relief from sprinkler heads, imbedded ball, etc., so why not have a rule to drop within a foot of the divot. - (I’ll save footprints in bunkers for another day)

Been playing for 30 years or so. Handicap started at 22 and got as low as 8, now back up to 11. I enjoy all aspects of the game and especially now that technology has made indoor practice viable. I'm a tinkerer and love to do my own equipment work. Home course is now Brookside CC in Allentown PA. Nickname, too many to count over the years. lol.

What Golf Ball Are You Playing In 2024?
John Marchetto replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in Golf Balls/Shafts/Grips
Played Bridgestone B RX for years. The Maxfli Tour popped up on MGS and Ballnamic results so I tried them last year. The Maxfli is indestructible. After 18 holes it looks like it did on the 1st tee. It's a quality ball and on the MGS tests it showed consistency in manufacturing quality. Whereas the Bridgestone was inconsistent. Although the Maxfli may be a yard or two shorter, the consistency coupled with the price ($25dz on bulk sale) makes it a no brainer for me. My new gamer. -

Time for a fitting! With the cost of these things you cannot buy off the rack as the tech is so precise for each individual -
Planned 2030 Golf Ball Rollback
John Marchetto replied to PMookie's topic in Breaking News and Debate
I would prefer a freeze to the current standard. Much of the difference now, especially at the "tour ball" level is spin rate. Everyone is talking PGA, but this is a USGA rule that affects the amateur. Also, what if LIV doesn't conform? Will there be two sets of pro equipment? Another option on the tour is to reduce the par on certain courses from 72 to 70 making par 5s into long 4s; make fairways tighter, grow rough higher for tournaments. -
What benefits do you find of joining a golf club?
John Marchetto replied to Jim Shaw's topic in General Q&A
I joined a club because. 1) tired of 5 hour rounds Now I play in 3 1/2 and have the rest of my day 2) convenience / availability of scheduling tee times 3) members tend to take care of the course & golf etiquette 4) cost... you can never justify the total cost as $$ per round. But, you only go around once in this life. -
I received an email from Dick's to pre-order it. $399.00. I don't need a putter so I deleted it or I would have attached the link.

Mild soap and warm water. I don't use any scrub pads. Just dry with a towel. All you're trying to do is get skin oil off.

Bridgestone B X in warm (60F+) and Bridgestone B RX in colder (60F-) mostly for feel as both balls are relatively close in distance for me.
